Resolved Question: Would you ditch your doctors, who are also old friends?
I was seen by my girlfriends doctor (cardiologist) today. My bp was 205/123, and doc freaked. The staff refused to let me out the door until I'd had a dose of nitro, a nitro patch, and a double dose of accupril. When I left my bp was down to 160/101. He also made sure I left with a holter on, and a return appointment for next week. Even though I really like my doctors, this guy appears to be much more serious about my health issues. Considering that my last appointment to get my prescriptions renewed was 2 weeks ago, I think it's time for a change. Your opinions?
Voting Question: Do you quit your job because of stress and abnormal urine tests?
I have been drinking about 1litre (4cups) of water every night and try to drink about as much over the course of the day. I am 27 years old and under an incredible amount of stress doing both school and work full time.
Medical notes:
- height:6'0 weight: 130lbs
- diagnosed with protein in the urine in 2005
- taking 5mg of Accupril for my kidneys
The weird thing is, my weight hasn't changed at all since I was 19. And I never used to drink anywhere close to this amount of water. The problem is, even with all this water drinking, when I urninate, I only have a small trickle that comes out.
Where is all the water going?
Is my body "burning" more water as I grow older???
How much water does a healthy person have to drink?
When I'm not under stress and am exercising regularly, I do have time and desire to drink more (up to 4liters or 1 gallon/day) and have healthy tests.
Should I quit my job to deal with this?
Resolved Question: How long does it take before Accupril begins to lower blood pressure?

Resolved Question: i have spots, like after you have a flash photo taken, in front of my eyes almost all the time.?
i thought it was one of the meds i am taking so i tried not taking each one for a few days to see if that changed anything, when i got to the accupril - for high blood pressure- the spots have eased up quite a bit but they are not completely gone, either. it give me a very 'surreal', for lack of a better word, feeling, especially when i have to walk, even worse outside! the light outside can make me feel a little nauseated and dizzy. i have also been taking glimepiride for my blood sugar, which is a new med for my blood sugar, i have been on metformin for a while so i don't think it is that, however i was wondering if it could be drug interaction. ideas, hints, clues,experiences....anything that might help would be appreciated, thanks! i also take lipitor, for high cholestrol, altho the b.p. med and the lipitor are more for m blood sugar than anythingelse, dr. says.
Voting Question: sexual dysfunction- meds or some other cause?
i am on several medications: metformin and glimepiride, for diabetes, lipitor-high cholestrol and accupril for high blood pressure. i have a feeling of pressure that makes me feel as though i need to have a bowel movement or pass gas, neither of these things happens or if they do i still feel no relief from the pressure. i have been unable to achieve an orgasm, alone or with my partner. i feel as though my head is ' in the clouds', most of the time and i have the spots, similar to those after you get a flash photo taken......any ideas what could cause these things? are they related? i stopped taking the blood pressure med and the spots are not as bad but i still don't feel 100%.....opinions, experiences and ideas appreciated, thank you. the sexual dysfunction part has been very gradual until the last few days and i am completely without sensation in thar area, now.
Resolved Question: I recently have been noticing a Low diastolic blood pressure, I am 32?
I am a 31 year old male. In excellent shape, 170 lbs 5'11 - I have unexplained hypertention. I have been on 40mgs of accupril for most of 9 years. I recently went to a cardiologist for an annual check up and received a echo and stress test, check for LVH and other cardiac issues. All results were normal. My blood pressure usually reads 125/80 w/ medication but recently I have been seeing lower diastolic pressures 125/65. My doctor added a diuretic to my treatment last year and I have stoped weight lifting which my cardiologist suggested might not be good for a hypertensive. Since then I have been running on average 8- 10 miles a week. Like i said my last cardio echo was perfect,.....could all this cardio and running be lowering my diastolic? If not what could it be if my echo's are clean ?
