Related articles from Yahoo AnswersResolved Question: Alternative medicine doctor, licenced or not?
Does anyone know how to find out if an alternative medicine doctor is legally licenced or at least has received proper medical training?
A friend of mine is seeing one whose name card titled as "M.S, D.O.M, L.Ac." I think L.Ac. means a license of Acupuncture. M.S. usually means master of science, but I really don’t know what D.O.M. means.
A website that can help us verify the credential of this doctor with her name would be really appreciated. Thanks.
Resolved Question: Does one legally have to undergo training to be an acupuncturist?
I know there are acupuncture certifications and the like, but is it like being a medical doctor where you are legally required to receive the training and license, or, in theory, could just anyone declare themselves an acupuncturist and begin to practice?
Resolved Question: Does the military hire acupuncturists and oriental medicine practicioners?
i'm currently in Grad school now to get my combined degree in Acu/oriental medicine. i know if i open my private practice i could be making over 100K.
I was just wondering does any branch of the military use these these professions. i know the Army trains their medics to use acupuncture and there are abput 40 doctors of acupuncturists in the military..
any way just tell me what are my options in the military with this profession.
ps: i only have one more year of school left before i get my masters.
Resolved Question: sticky stifles, what to do?
tryed to post earlier but question did not go up.
case history: 4 yr old, 17 hh tb gelding. off track, in training since late may 08.
resistant to left. wont bend. actualy turns head to outside. stride short and stilted, back hollow.
had acupuncture session on monday. sore right hock, sore stifles and back made themselves known. horse in good phyisical shape, working 4-5 times a week. left hind stifle sticky at trot. horse will not canter to the left. would dmso paint to stifles help? what can i do for him? he may still be growing. the sticky stifle started about 2 months ago. we have 2-3 more acupuncture sessions scheduled. he was much improved in his back after first session.
i have had the vet look at him 2xs
no xrays or anything like that. i just do not want a battery of tests , xrays, mri's etc...to tell me the horse has sore stifles and a hock injury. i already know that...lol
it is far too cost prohibitive, and i feel that the 80$ sessions with the acupuncturist will be more helpful.
i am trying to treat the whole body, and really want to avoid any more drugs and injections. if you knew how many times they stick those horses at the track, on a day to day to basis, you would be horrified. i am just wondering if dmso painted on the stifles (and hock) will actually do anything or would it be counter productive with the acupuncture?
i had his teeth done in june, and he is still loosing baby teeth. he is super easy going and willing to please which is how i knew that the issues going left were not mental but phyiscal. we are on "pause" right now per the acupunctorists instructions with no more lunging and only light hacking at the walk and some trot. no circles for now.
dont generally do this but gallopa, i think you are a little preachy. i am a 44 year old woman, and dont really need you preaching to me about what my responsibilities are as horse owner, who is shelling out well over 6oo a month on this horse. he found his way to me...because no one wanted him. i think alot of the diagnostic stuff they do with these horses is a racket. as i said i have had the vet 2 x's , and he keeps telling me nothing is wrong. It is not just one thing with this horse, and the soundness issues change from month to month as he goes through his transition into civilian life.

Resolved Question: Severe Allergies- Please Help!? ( Very Detailed! )?
Alright, so I'm 13 and have suffered severe allergies most of my life. I've had to go to the allergist for years. I know what I'm allergic to, and avoid them as much as possible. Though I am allergic to cats; they sometimes help my allergies! How can this be? Anyways, I've tried almost every OTC and prescription medicine! As soon as I find one that helps even the smallest bit, ( Zyrtec? ) it turns to OTC, and doesn't help anymore!? I've tried nasal sprays as my allergies start to get bad, but all they do is make me feel worse. ( I'm not allergic to any medicines ) My mum and I are thinking about trying allergy shots, though we have heard a lot of negative comments about them from family friends who have tried them. Such as, "once you start them, they are very hard to get off of" "they never seem to help" "oh you'll really be living in the doctors office now!" etc. Please note I'm very busy being homeschooled, planning on graduating in 2011, and riding/training horses! Therefor I have no time ( or money! ) to drive an hour to get to the closest allergist for the first few shots and then having to wait at least a half hour after each of them! And then you'll still have to go to your regular doctor a few times a week! So what I'm asking is, what can I do!? When I get bad allergies, I'm stuck in bed for days! I've heard acupuncture helps, but what do you think? I used to go to a massage therapist, but they moved and there aren't any others around here. ( all well over an hour away )
I know that diet sometimes effects allergies, ( I'm not allergic to any foods either ) but I am a healthy eater, having been vegetarian for quite a while now. So do you have any ideas of what I can do?? My doctors are always clueless and are just saying things such as "well lets raise your dosage" or "lets try this medicine" So any advice you have would be more than appreciated!
Actually I don't live in the UK...
And it's kind of hard to avoid everything. I'm allergic to a lot of different types of pollen and it's 'bad allergy season' now for most people meaning mine get even worse! :[
Resolved Question: what could be wrong with my lower back?
I am almost a professional dancer so I train a lot every day. I had shin splints for the last two years and I tried everything stretching, strenghtening, acupuncture, electro, laser and vaccum therapy,... and nothing helped. so yesterday my shin splints got really bad, i was acually the worst ever so I decided to see the school's physio to get it checked. and what he found was that I have an old injury in my lower back, which would explain my recent problems with ishias. something is wrong with discus L4/L5, which might be causing my shin splints. all he could tell me is that it's not discus hernia. so I need to get an x-ray now so we can see what is going on with my back, but I'm wondering if anyone knows what could this be??
Resolved Question: Sciatica Pain. It comes and goes and stays for years. almost intolerable. Any new PT info? Acupuncture?help.
I am 42, normal weight-I sit all day at my computer working- I realize this is an issue. ok, I am very athletic and three years ago had a bad flare up of Sciatica in my left hip while I was training for a short 8k race. I continued to run for a year in pain until I could run no longer ( I could not lay on my left side to sleep actually) I continued working out trying to get the cardio I needed.
Now I am running again for about six months. I have been in pain for about a month. even when I rest for three days I have the Sciatica constantly. Oh and It is the Right hip now and the pain only travels down from my butt to the back of my knee & inside my thigh.
I have spondilosis..degenerative disks in my neck from an auto accident--not my back. My spine was curved when I was a child. my hips and pelvis have always seemed to be a bit mis-alligned.
...I am taking shorter strides when i run- I am using all stretches I have read about.- take joint suppliments. any new therapy?

Resolved Question: acupuncture?
my relative went somewhere & she said that whenever the acupuncturist stuck a needle in her he said to "stop breathing" she said if he breathed when he did it, it would really hurt. ive had real chinese acupuncture (ie chinese docs trained in china, not usa) and this never happened to me, whats going on with this? tho, the acupuncture was done on her hip, and mine was basically everywhere else. was this guy using a different technique, was it a different area, what? does this sound normal?
ps. if anyone knows a good acupuncturist less than $80-$85 in lexington mass please tell me thanks (preferably one that doesnt tell you to stop breathing! ty)
acupuncture releases endorpihins from nerve endings any plonker knows that, it doesnt last long but it relieves pain TEMPORARILY without curing the problem. its better than nothing than what western docs do. its not medically sound as what cures, but eases pain. when western docs dont know what to do, it sucks it up enuf to ease the pain for temporary, im not asking for a cure just something that eases it. it may be crap but not as crap as western docs.

Resolved Question: What is the best way to treat panic disorder?
I am suffering from a panic disorder.I went for counseling for psychotherapy for about a month. I felt like it was helping me for a about 2 weeks only. After, I stopped the psychotherapy, and went to an acupuncturist who was saying that he can treat panic disorder by acupuncture and by taking herbal medicine. But, after getting another panic attack inside a train, I felt like, maybe I need to go see a psychiatrist. I went to see the psychiatrist and he told me that the best way to cure panic disorder is by taking medication he prescribes. He told me to take PAROXETINE once a day everyday and ALPRAZOLAM as needed depending on my symptoms. The problem is I feel like my syptoms are getting worse as I take these medications.I never felt depressed before taking this medication, but now I feel very depressed for no reason. My doctor is telling me that I was depressed before too, but its just that I never realized it before. But i know myself and I know for sure that I was not depressed befor
Resolved Question: body pains and more?
Someone I know is going through a lot of pain. IT started with gastritis which has been going on for a year. The h. pylori is gone, but the pain is still there and Zantac or Nexium don't help that much. About 9 months ago she started having leg pains which soon spread and then she now has leg, back, arm, and hand pains too. They have been to several doctors who all have different ideas. All her blood tests came out fine now, but in the beginning, her iron and ferretin were very low. She brought those up to normal, but the pain didn't decrease. One of her doctors said that she doesn't have Fibromalgyia. She's done all kinds of things to fight it, including fitness training, acupuncture, stretches, etc, but nothing has helped. I'm hoping somebody here might have an answer, but I really doubt if I'll get that lucky. Thanks for any help!
Resolved Question: sharp pain in back of legs..keep training or rest?!?
I recently began to have knee pain on bending for which i received acupuncture, the doctor informed me the knee pain was due to a lower back injury caused by stamping my foot hard during exercise. I had a weeks rest and began traing again. but now the pain is down the back of both legs, in the calves and back of thigh, its like a sharp, non-muscular pain, but doesnt seem to be sciatica either.
The pain is at worst when stretching backs of legs and when knee is fully bent.
It doesnt seem to be receeding, should i keep training through the pain or do i need to rest. Icepacks or heatpacks? any ideas?
Resolved Question: Is it practical to begin studying for a career in Acupuncture or Massage Therapy at the age of 40?
I am forty years old (41 in July) and live in a borough outside of NYC. I currently am a Civil Servant and work in City Government in a terribly boring clerical/administrative position as a Records Dept. Supervisor in the Office of Personnel Services. My salary is a joke at $48K but I have job security, a pension, 401K plan, 457 plan, Vision, Dental, and Health Insurance not subsidized from my payckeck. I have a BBA for Industrial Pyschology but no other degrees or training and I feel like a TOTAL LOSER! I'm in a failed marriage but because rent is astronomical am still living with her and another roomate and I DESPERATELY need to live a different life for the better. I'd like a new career with excellent money potential and have been thinking about either Massage or Acupuncture. However, I am an EXTREME loner and have serious difficulty socializing with others. I'm afraid of the cost and time required for these careers! Should I just stick where I am and wait for retirement-HELP!

I used to get sick about once a year.. now im sick around 8 times a year. I do very intense working out, I am a kickboxer who pushes himself very hard when training. I work at a bar, and am currently in college in the city. I recently met a new girl I really like and I am barely making it through college.
I don't know whats worse... being sick, having extremely bad chronic neck pain, or feeling stressed and depressed from it all. I have very high standards for myself, and when I dont meet them I have a tendency to beat myself up.
I really want to be rid of this chronic neck pain that I have been living with the past 4 years. I consider posture very important, when I think about it, it only tenses me up more. Ive been ongoing to massage therapy, acupuncture, physical therapy, and chiropractors. I think the answer lies within myself..much easier said then done.
anyone who can relate/help?
Resolved Question: I'm 28 and am allowing my self to be bullied. Please help?
i work at a pharacutical company the last 6 months and to be quite honest i just cant face the place anymore. I started working there in October 07, at the start i loved the job and really looked forward to going in, but now i hate it, my team coordinator has made it horrible for me to work there, I'm terrified of him, hes a bully and shouldn't be aloud to train a dog. at first we got on great...we had a laugh and it was such a nice place to work in. then as time went on he turned horrible on me, i then realised some of the things he was saying to me was making me very nervous and afraid to even be around him. i had to go to my GP because i couldn't handle the sleepless nights and he put me on sleeping tablets witch I'm off now because that wasn't doing me any good, then i tyred hypno therapy then even acupuncture to try calm me and help me not worry. I was going out of my mind and brought this home with me every day. It is horrible. What should i do
Resolved Question: Holistic horse care?
So I posted something about a possible sprained fetlock joint a while back and I had a vet student diagnose it as a sprain. With 2 weeks of stall rest and 3 days of turn out after my horse was completely sound again. So I sent him to my trainers where he has been recieving training 6 days a week for the past two weeks and has come up lame again in the same leg. On top of that he now has a sore back, which I believe is due from the fact that he had absolutely no muscling prior to going off to my trainers. He is also very stiff to the left.My trainer recommended acupuncture and chiropractic care for the back and she said that that acupuncture could help his fetlock as well. I have never been a fan of hollistic animal care, but I go to the chiropractor myself due to soccer and HB riding related injuries so I figured I'd give it a try for his sake. Does anyone have any experiance with holistic care?I also have a blog cronicling our journey so far buckinhorse.blogspot.com
Sorry it is jumbled the entry area wasn't holding the returns between my paragraphs.

I have been an RN for 18 years and I really want to begin training in acupuncture this fall. For those who have made the transition: are you happy with your choice to leave traditional nursing and train in acupuncture? How long did it take to build your client base? Any advice/tips will be appreciated.
Resolved Question: Can nurses perform acupressure?

Resolved Question: Hip bursitis? been to doc several times?
Ok, to anyone who has had hip bursitis or has successfully treated hip bursitis. i don't wanna hear: go to Doc or don't run please! I have been a runner for a year . 2 months ago, i started having a pain in my hip/groin. after two visits ti the Doc, he poked around and said it was Hip bursitis. told me to lay off and see how I felt. I ran a couple of times once the pain left (after about a week) and the pain came back. He gave me a cortisone shot. two weeks, no pain. tried running a few time, after third time, pain came back. Gave me script for anti-inflm, been three weeks, no real pain. went running several time, shorter runs, today a slight twinge, pain with digital pressure. The doc has basically said, Don't run. Which can be fine in the short term, but i have been training for something and giving up running longterm is NOT an option. Has anyone had any luck with any other tx? acupuncture? laser? I'll do whatever I need as long as I can return to training soon.

what I meant was, "if has anyone had similar problem and was able to go back to running, i would want to hear from them, if all you were going to say was don't run, then don't bother." I've known differnet docs to have different opinions and I was asking for differnet opinions
Resolved Question: Well...I guess i missed the Memo.. Rate my Demonism?
[Apparently a statement from a rather outspoken advocate]
"Almost every practice that has its origins in Asia, nine times out of ten, it's demonic. Accupuncture and yoga are demonic..........they are Asian practices that need to be avoided by us Christians.....period"
[Eh...one good turn...]
:Looks up from his calligraphy, takes off his Daoist hat and puts on some horns:
Well since i am from the offending place of origin, and adhere to the doctrines cited (well, not acupuncture, i'm not trained for that) - might I ask you denizens of Yahoo Answers! ?????
....Have i been Demonic enough for you?
If not, i sincerely apologize for my lack of attention and welcome any suggestions.
:Puts out the comment box and takes out his pitchfork:
Skalite - Hmm.. Well, How about I give you the Title, "Western Barbarian Demon Who Surpresses all Things Annoying....and Collects Cute Fluffy Bunnies"
Pay is low, but you get free medical and dental :)
Stiggo - Mea Culpa. (Did i get that right?) I have been substandard in my demonic ways and do greatly apologies.
Nea - Hmm....Chopsticks instead of Pitchforks.. Quick, "Western Barbarian Who Surpresses Annoying Things" - write that down...we can save a bundle on that idea.
Hmm - i've obviously ensared YesTheyreFake, Windom, and Confirmed. I must be doing something right!
[YesTheyreFake and Confirmed - Thanks for the Reality Check ;-)
Windom - Always a pleasure]
And Skalite - Paid Vacation - but no 15 min breaks got that. We're behind on our numbers!
Creatrix - Don't be angry or sad. Have a good laugh about it.
:Rubs fingers as he gives Creatrix some obviously demonic advice:
;-)
Sherl - Wow....graced by not 1 but _2_ VTs. Definately moving up in the world.
Resolved Question: Losing weight before School?
So im 16. Im 5"8 and I weigh 144.5 and I have 26.2% body fat. I eat about 1250 calories a day, plus calories from sugar free gum. So I have a hard time excercising because I have a lot of foot and ankle problems. Im also thinking about getting acupuncture to help my feet and ankles. But anyways. I do weight training, core secrets, and I power walk when my feet and ankles arent hurting. Im also going to try swimming about 3/4 to a mile or more , 3 times a week. So I want to know how much you think I can lose by then. Thank You. P.S. I dont eat a lot of junk food, I have a cheat day 2 to 4 days a month. Thanks.
Resolved Question: Do I really need to see a pet behaviorist?
My vet suggested I take my 6 month old Pekingese to a pet behviorist. Since her spay last month she has been very mean. She has always bitten my ankles or tried to nibble my fingers but, since the spay she bites hard to cause pain, she has broken skin several times. She actually yells back at me when I yell at her or punish her. If I put her in her crate she throws a holy fit, poops all over it and when she comes out she looks like she is going to have a heartattack she is so out of breath and frantic looking.
When I called the speciaist they were talking about medicine like puppy prozac, I really don't like drugs for humans or dogs. Are there alternatives that have been prven to work... perhaps homeopathic like acupuncture or herbs along with training?
To address some questions/comments:
Bella is on lamb and rice Canidae.
I never used to yell or put her in her crate until I was told by a trainer that I was not showing my dominance and that I did need to be firmer. They also told me "It is ok to use the crate as punishment, they said when I you were younger and got sent to your room you didn't get mad at the room and that it is the same for her"
I have tried everything but the STRICT trainers and medicine.
My definition of strict trainer are the ones that say she cannot sleep with me, she cannot be picked up ever and brought to my level and the ones that use the choke collars and shock collars.
Resolved Question: hearing loss and left side discomfort? help? I'm 16?
okay so I'm noticing a little bit of hearing loss on the left side as well as general discomfort, numbness, pains, sometimes dumbing.. all on the left side. when I work out and exercise (I'm training for gymnastics and cross country), it seems like one side is weaker than the other.
when I bike, it's like theres a painful shot going down the nerves on the left side
I went to acupuncture today and things did get noticbly better... there's more of a flow now on the left side, but the hearing has not yet improved...
what am I going to do? balance is crucial to gymnastics... where can I go?
for the hearing, the perception and range has changed. it's like something is drowning out the sound and something is really full in the ear
Resolved Question: Acupuncture training in the UK - south west?
Does anyone have experience of attending acupuncture courses in the south west UK? I need a course that is non residential, as I work a lot.
Resolved Question: Acupuncture worked for me! Did Acupuncture work for you?
I couldn't believe it. I thought Acupuncture was some sort of joke. Today was my first time I've done it. It was called "Cupping acupuncture". I had massive backpains from doing a Physical Training test and it all went away. My friend said he recieved some sort of Korean hand acupuncture for his stomach ache and it works.
What type of acupuncture have you done and did it work?
Resolved Question: Has anyone studied internship for ACUPUNCTURE in china Beijing Tianjin?
I am interesed in traveling to china to intern in a acupuncture chinese medicine hospital. I currently have my masters degree in chinese medicine in america. I do not speak chinese, but I am interested in a 3 month language study. I am interested in 3-6 months of internship, but hopefully more.
I am also interested in learning how to cook chinese food so any links to culinary schools would be great. The cooking would be just for fun.
Questions:
What are ur experiences with your training?
Where did u train?
Was it difficult to use a translator during classes?
Where did u stay and what were the dorms like? Internet included if not how much. Are there any chinese websites that u can find apartments with?
What was the cost for training and living?
Any recommendations other than Beijing and tainjin?
Would u recommend finding an internship position some where in america instead of china?
While there how could I find a possible conversational english teaching job?
Thank you

Resolved Question: Is acupuncture helpful in dealing with penile matters?
Well, here's the skinny. Last year, after a long session of lapdances at a club, I noticed my "member" feeling a little sensitive and chafed. I didn't think much of it for awhile, but noticed it wasn't going away. I then went to one urologist who told me to apply Bacitracin (he couldn't find anything wrong) and then after a month (the Bacitracin wasn't helping much) went to another urologist, who prescribed lidocaine, and he also could not find anything wrong with me. I know acupuncture provides pain relief; I once developed an incredible shoulder soreness when I carried a heavy bag for many blocks to the train station. I went to an acupuncturist and now it's gone.
I'm wondering if acupuncture can help me with this current condition. I have done numerous Google searches re: what if anything this could be and nothing has matched. If you know that this is doable (not sure if acupuncturists frown upon putting needles near this area of the human body), please fill me in.
Resolved Question: Can acupuncture treat anismus? Do you have anismus?
I suffer from anismus - where the rectal muscles tighten instead of relax when I try to go to the bathroom. This causes me sever, painful constipation.
Can acunpuncture help re-train this muscles? Biofeedback therapy is not working very well for me. I started a new Yahoo Group for people who have this ... please join if you share the disorder. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/anismus/

The True Story From Korea
Joe is 8 years old an Autistic Kid from Korea. Even though Korea recognized acupuncture and Joe's grand father is the top acupuncture physician there, he can't help. Others specialist can not do much for remedy.
Being a father of an autistic kid, his father has a lot of pressure and looking for answer desperately. There finally came to see our MASTER LEONG through high recommendation from a friend.
When he first came into our centre everyone in the premise had a shock from his 'super-hyper active behavior'.Jumping and screaming all over the place and zero communication and eyes contact. He is in his own world, very scared and frustrated, until he hits himself on the head continuous for about 10 mins to 30 mins.
Master Leong applied Qi Qong and acupuncture treatment to calmed him down. According to Master Leong it is his brain's Qi is not moving smoothly . He calm down after 30 minutes ,then had another session of Qi Qong and acupuncture after one hour.
3 days of treatment went by and they can see that Joe can respond to instruction from his father and has some eyes contact. They went back to Korea because his father has only 3 days of lift from work, but he book for the second visit that is after six months. He took 6 months of herbal medication ( 168 TOLE'S SPECIAL BRAIN'S POWDER )home and a list of do's and done's .
After 6 months they came for 30 days of treatment. We saw a lot of different from 6 months back when they first visit us. The father is so happy and told us he have finally found the right place for his son Joe. He said all his relative in Korea said he has improved a lot since he took our treatment and special brain's powder.
For the 30 days here everyday he has 2 session of treatment, that is 60 treatments in total. We can see him improving everyday and in the end of the treatment he was about 80% !!! recovered. They have to go home now and promise to come in 12 months time. This time he took 12 months of medication (Tole's Brain's powder) with him.
The 3rd visit comes, he was almost 100% recovered!!! when we see him. Still we give him the same treatment for 30 days. In the end of this trip he is quit confident and normal in most of his activities. They went home with a HAPPY HEART !!! NO MORE MEDICINE, WORRY, STRESS, FRUSTRATION, SLEEPLESS NIGHT.
This article is written by Miss S.Y. Chong our top student 1995, her practical 3 years assignment in our medical centre.
Words from our top student, Miss Chong S.Y.
I hope all the special kids can get well and live a normal life.
Best wishes.

They say that their son has no eye-to-eye gaze, facial expression, body postures and gestures to regulate social interaction. He cannot share his interest and enjoyment with anybody even his sister and his parents. He cannot make a conversation with others and only make a noise sound, not even a single word from him. He is totally in his own world and don't care about anything that happen around him. Sometimes he will repeat his behavior or interest. There is NO point training them without getting them OUT OF THEIR ENCLOSED WORLD. Let us help you to bring your kid into our real world.

Now we are catering for intensive course for all autistic kids with 4 weeks to 3 months or 6 months periods.
4 weeks treatments will have to come back every 6 months until near good recovery hopefully.

.
Ask Master's Assistant
Usually after 3 days treatment the kids will be able to adapt to the treatment even if they are hyperactive. So parents not to worry about their treatment problems, most of the parents worry that can my kid take the treatment or will he/ she runs away? No, it usually takes only 3 days treatment then they will be use to lt.
Well many says that when they goes for a hair cut it may takes 2 adult to hold them for the cause but when they come to take Neuro Acupuncture from our Master they are able to cupe just after a few days treatment .
AUTISM
Isolated in worlds of their own, people with autism appear indifferent and remote and are unable to form emotional bonds with others. Although people with this baffling brain disorder can display a wide range of symptoms and disability, many are incapable of understanding other people's thoughts, feelings, and needs. Often, language and intelligence fail to develop fully, making communication and social relationships difficult. Many people with autism engage in repetitive activities, like rocking or banging their heads, or rigidly following familiar patterns in their everyday routines. Some are painfully sensitive to sound, touch, sight, or smell.
Children with autism do not follow the typical patterns of child development. In some children, hints of future problems may be apparent from birth. In most cases, the problems become more noticeable as the child slips farther behind other children the same age. Other children start off well enough. But between 18 and 36 months old, they suddenly reject people, act strangely, and lose language and social skills they had already acquired.
As a parent, teacher, or caregiver you may know the frustration of trying to communicate and connect with children or adults who have autism. You may feel ignored as they engage in endlessly repetitive behaviors. You may despair at the bizarre ways they express their inner needs. And you may feel sorrow that your hopes and dreams for them may never materialize.
But there is help-and hope. Gone are the days when people with autism were isolated, typically sent away to institutions. Today, many youngsters can be helped to attend school with other children. Methods are available to help improve their social, language, and academic skills.
Autism is found in every country and region of the world, and in families of all racial, ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds. Emerging in childhood, it affects about 3 or 4 people in every thousand and is three to four times more common in boys than girls. Girls with the disorder, however, tend to have more severe symptoms and lower intelligence.
THE TOLE is dedicated to understanding the workings and inter-relationships of the various regions of the brain, and to developing preventive measures and new treatments for disorders like autism that handicap people in school, work, and social relationships and brain damage or vegetable.

What is ADHD? ADHD often prevents children from learning and socializing well. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and attention deficit disorder (ADD) refer to a range of problem behaviors associated with poor attention span. These may include impulsiveness, restlessness and hyperactivity, as well as inattentiveness, and often prevent children from learning and socializing well. ADHD is sometimes referred to as hyper kinetic disorder. What are the symptoms of ADHD
Attention difficulties
A child must have exhibited at least six of the following symptoms for at least six months to an extent that is unusual for their age and level of intelligence.
Fails to pay close attention to detail or makes careless errors during work or play.
Fails to finish tasks or sustain attention in play activities.
Seems not to listen to what is said to him or her.
Fails to follow through instructions or to finish homework or chores (not because of confrontational behavior or failure to understand instructions).
Disorganized about tasks and activities.
Avoids tasks like homework that require sustained mental effort.
Loses things necessary for certain tasks or activities, such as pencils, books or toys.
Easily distracted.
Forgetful in the course of daily activities.
Hyperactivity
A child must have exhibited at least three of the following symptoms for at least six months to an extent that is unusual for their age and level of intelligence.
Runs around or excessively climbs over things
Unduly noisy in playing, or has difficulty in engaging in quiet leisure activities.
Leaves seat in classroom or in other situations where remaining seated is expected.
Fidgets with hands or feet or squirms on seat.
Impulsivity
At least one of the following symptoms must have persisted at least for six months to an extent that is unusual for their age and level of intelligence.
Blurts out answers before the questions have been completed. Fails to wait in lines or await turns in games or group situations. Interrupts or intrudes on others, e.g. jump into others conversations or games.
Talks excessively without appropriate response to social restraint.
Pervasiveness of attention difficulties and hyperactivity
For a diagnosis or description of ADHD a child would be expected to show the above difficulties in more than one setting, e.g. at school and at home.
Problems are not shown 'at home' but are very evident when a child goes to a hospital department. This can happen when parents do not realize that their child's behavior is out of the normal range (perhaps because they have no other children, or they have other children who behave similarly). It may also be because the problems are mild, or because the family has handled the attention lack at home in such a way that it is not evident there is a major problem, or because the child is very young. In those cases it is quite reasonable for parents not to consider that their child has an attention deficit problem.
These conditions has a good chance to be treated, it will take time and effort to do it. The Tole's way of remedies for them is not easy and tedious, the good part is it works with many of them.
Some adults that just have AD should be able to recovers too with our Remedies.

autism- Hyperactivity
A child must have exhibited at least three of the following symptoms for at least three months to an extent that is unusual for their age and level of intelligence.
Runs around or excessively climbs over things. (In adolescents or adults only feelings of restlessness may occur.)
Unduly noisy in playing, or has difficulty in engaging in quiet leisure activities.
Leaves seat in classroom or in other situations where remaining seated is expected.
Fidgets with hands or feet or squirms on seat.
autism ADHD Impulsivity
At least one of the following symptoms must have persisted at least for three months to an extent that is unusual for their age and level of intelligence:
Blurts out answers before the questions have been completed.
Fails to wait in lines or await turns in games or group situations.
Interrupts or intrudes on others, likes to jump into others conversations or games.
Talks excessively without appropriate response to social restraint.
ADHD or Others causes
Epileptic seizures can cause a child to become drowsy, impairing their attention. Epilepsy can also cause unusual behavior and lead to abnormal perceptions.
Hearing problems such as deafness or glue ear can make it hard for a child to follow instructions and make them appear inattentive.
Reading problems, making it hard to complete tasks or follow instructions.
Obsessive compulsive disorder leads to people following strange rituals that preoccupy their thoughts and distract their attention.
Tourette's syndrome involves repetitive, involuntary jerking movements of the body and sudden outbursts of noise or swearing.
Autism and Asperger's syndrome often lead to difficulties in understanding and using language.
Prolonged periods of insufficient sleep, causing poor concentration.
Some children may be very active or be easily distracted or have difficulty concentrating. If these behaviours are relatively mild, they should not be considered a disorder.
Others difficulties that occurs alongside Autism ADHD
ADHD often occurs alongside other difficulties and is not the sole cause of problem behavior. Children may exhibit temper tantrums, sleep disorders, and be clumsy. Other behavioral problems that occur with ADHD include:
confrontational defiant behavior, which occurs in most of these kids. The child loses their temper, argues and refuses to comply with adults and deliberately annoys others.
conduct disorders occur in at least 25 per cent of children. The child may be destructive or show deceitful behavior such as lying, breaking rules and stealing.
specific learning difficulties, including dyslexia, occur in 25-30 per cent of children.
severe clinical depression occurs in about 30 per cent of children.
anxiety disorders occur in 30 per cent of children.
What causes ADHD?
Biological
Temperamental, as this contributes to their attitude and personality.
Twins suggest a genetic link to ADHD. In 80-90 per cent of identical twins where one has ADHD so does the other. Recent research also suggests there is a greater chance of inheriting the condition from male relatives such as grandfathers and uncles.
Brain injuries due to birth trauma or pre-birth problems. The brain structures believed to be linked to the development of ADHD are vulnerable to hypoxic damage during birth. The damage is caused by inadequate oxygen (QI flow) reaching parts of the brain while blood flow is reduced.
Environmental conditions:
Family stress.
Educational difficulties.
ADHD diagnosis
Observations to the assessment of a child with possible ADHD. There is no single diagnostic test for ADHD so different sorts of information needs to be gathered, such as the following:
History of symptoms The precise nature of the difficulties, when they were first noticed, in what situations they occur, factors that exacerbate or relieve them.
Medical history
Risk factors that could predispose the child to ADHD include difficulties and risks in pregnancy and during birth, for example if the mother was in poor health, very young or drank alcohol or smoked or had an extended or complicated labor.
Several medical conditions are known to be associated with ADHD. These include fragile-X syndrome, fetal alcohol syndrome, G6PD deficiency, phenylketonuria and generalized resistance to thyroid hormone.
Accidents, operations and chronic medical conditions such as epilepsy, asthma and heart, liver and kidney disorders all need to be taken in to account. Also of possible relevance is any medication the child is taking, as well as any adverse reactions they have had to medication in the past.
Past psychiatric history:
Enquiring about any mental health problems the child has had can help rule out depression or anxiety being behind the symptoms.
Educational history:
This means the level of their ability and what specific difficulties they have, how they function within their peer group and get on with teachers, and any behavior difficulties such as suspensions or exclusions.
Family history:
The mental and physical health of the child's parents and other family members can be relevant, particularly regarding the incidence of ADHD or depression. Less then 1% ahs the family history but this is one of the research data base.
Social assessment:
The family's social circumstances, such as housing, poverty, and social support may all have an impact on the child's behavior. Less then 4 % has this problem but it should be taken into consideration.
What treatment is available for ADHD? There is NO straight treatment in the western way excepts general guidelines to manage a child's problematic behavior, THE TOLE has developed a NEURO treatment for these special kids. It is with THE TOLE'S NEURO Acupuncture and Special Neuro Herbal Powder.

Resolved Question: Why is the BMA so narrow-minded?
Acupuncture has been used in American correctional facilities (state AND federal) for over 20 years as part of detox programs. The practitioners have their qualification from the recognized traditional colleges of TCM and Acupuncture. The fact that 20 years down the line acupuncture is used from east to west coast with something like 70% successful permamently staying off the drugs goes to show how succes full it can be if used in the right setting.
In the UK you have to be medically qualified to be allowed to practice acupuncture on the NHS. This means that traditionally trained acupuncturists can only work private. Medically qualified means that you are a gp, fysiotherapist or an osteopath or something similar. In other words, fr too busy to practice acupuncture during working hours. The last word on this is had by the British Medical Association i would imagine.
You can study acupuncture at a chinese university for 7 years or even get a degree in traditional chinese medicine at Middlesex university and do a year work experience in a chinese mainland hospital.
Addicts have cost the taxpayer £750.000 in compensation. Should acupuncture be allowed to be practised by traditional practitioners on the NHS? Why does the BMA have a problem with this? Should traditional acupuncture be introduced as part of detox programs in UK prisons considering the success rate in the US?
I can find some links to verify the US detox programs, let me know if you want them.
BMA is the British Medical Association.
frogmaster: only the uk is behind in this. There is clinical research going on all over the world. The World Health Organization has a list of conditions that are treatable through acupuncture. This list is based on the results of clinical trials. So the BMA knows better than the World Health Organization in your opinion?
Resolved Question: Anyone have tips on treating hip dysplasia in dogs? Any tips on other health problems that can be related?
I have a 7 month of St Bernard. He has bad hips AKA hip dysplasia(HD). His right is severe, his left is moderate/mild. Any tips, tricks, or any advice would be greatly appreciated. He doesnt show signs of pain at this point. He just favors one leg slightly when he walks and his hips "clack" together when we were training him to sit. When we would push on his hind end, you could feel and hear the bones "clack" when you pressed down. I am against surgery unless absolutely necessary.(they want to break the pelvis in several places) I am looking for anyone who has been through this recently. Anyone who may know anything about alternative medicine for animals. Acupuncture, herbs, suppliments, or therapy and where to get these things for animals. Any other suggestions will be a great help, no matter if its main stream or alternative. I'm just looking for all the options out there. Thank you.
Resolved Question: where can I get training for acupuncture?
Resolved Question: If Britain is really a multicultural society ...?
then why are alternative health care systems not more integrated in the NHS?
Acupuncture on the NHS is only available of someone who is qualified as a GP. GP's learn acupuncture as an extra but a Middlesex university student with a 4 year degree in traditional chinese medicine and a stint of training in mainland china hospitals(where western and chinese medicine are practised side by side) is not allowed to practice acupuncture on the NHS. Their degree course includes western anatomy and biochemistry btw. London has it's own Ayurvedic hospital and Ayurvedic medicine has a history longer than chinese medicine. it is not accepted yet, i still have to meet my first obese peron from India!
Physiotherapy and osteopathy have humongous waiting lists.
The list goes on.

Results Acupuncture treatment during labour significantly reduced the need of epidural analgesia (12%vs 22%, relative risk [RR] 0.52, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.30 to 0.92). Parturients who received acupuncture assessed a significantly better degree of relaxation compared with the control group (mean difference −0.93, 95% CI −1.66 to −0.20). No negative effects of acupuncture given during labour were found in relation to delivery outcome.

CLINICAL TRIAL OF ELECTRICAL ACUPUNCTURE ON HEMIPLEGIC STROKE PATIENTS1.
Research Articles
American Journal of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. 78(2):117-122, March/April 1999.
.....
Abstract:
To assess the efficacy of electrical acupuncture in the rehabilitation of patients with hemiplegia in stroke, we randomized 128 patients within 2 wk of stroke onset to receive either comprehensive rehabilitation plus electrical acupuncture (n = 59) or comprehensive rehabilitation only (n = 59). Electrical acupuncture was administered .... ...We suggest that electrical acupuncture through adhesive surface electrodes in conjunction with current optimal rehabilitation programs is a convenient and effective therapy for stroke patients.

25% of modern medicines are made from plants first used traditionally.
TM can also have impact on infectious diseases. For example, the Chinese herbal remedy Artemisia annua, used in China for almost 2000 years has been found to be effective against resistant malaria and could create a breakthrough in preventing almost one million deaths annually, most of them children, from severe malaria.
In South Africa, the Medical Research Council is conducting studies on the efficacy of the plant Sutherlandia Microphylla in treating AIDS patients. Traditionally used as a tonic, this plant may increase energy, appetite and body mass in people living with HIV.

Resolved Question: train to do acupuncture?
would like to gain a qualification in acupuncture , where in scotland can i do this?
Resolved Question: Where do I train in acupuncture in UK?
Resolved Question: A question about NHS acupuncture in the UK?
You can only get acupuncture on the NHS from a Gp that is registered as an acupuncturist. They will most likely have had the minimal training in the field of acupuncture, will probably not know a thing of 5-element theory let alone prescribe herbal remedies.
TCM theory has treatment for things like sinusitis, sciatica, neuralgia and even neuralgia. And 5-element theory treats mental dis-ease very well too.
A mainland China trained physician has had 7 years of university education behind them. Why can they not practice within the NHS? Even if they are a member of the Acupuncture trade bodies it still is not enough. At the same time they are allowed to practice in private practices and are only available to those that can afford it.
So the question, is why does the NHS not accept a Chinese university education to practice on NHS? There is a whole range of conditions that even the World Health organization recognizes as effectively treatable with TCm
was meant to say 'practice acupuncture'on the NHS but pressed submit instead of modify.
And put this link in too:
