  • Open Question: Do non-Christians have a problem with public Christmas displays?
And not just displays...if you are a person who does not believe in Christ and the reason for the Christian holiday, do you have a problem with public displays of things like "Merry Christmas" or nativity scenes. I'm not asking whether you celebrate Christmas or not, I'm curious to know how a Jew or Muslim, for example, might react to advertising or displays of celebration in public, especially if they were on public and/or government property. Serious question...no offense intened nor judgement passed. I'm just curious to know other's thoughts on a holiday that is not one you would celebrate yet it is impossible to avoid after Halloween.

  • Open Question: How much do you think this car is worth?
I have a beige Mercedes Benz 200E from 1977. I have had it for 8 years. I am thinking of selling it. How shall I advertise? Here are the problems: (I am NOT exaggerating) 1. Left front door has a big dent on it from previous owner (I got it cheap .) 2. Severe rust on most of the car, grill is missing, front fender is not there anymore... 3. Big spider-web like crack in the windscreen because of a huge rock in a freak thunderstorm 4. Only has one wiper (originally has two) 5. interior lights are almost gone, the markings for the radio have worn away, I had to install a small torch dangling above the speedometer to know how fast I was going. 6. Very torn leather, all chairs have very little leather left. 7. When I start the car, I have to try three or four times for it to start. 8. God knows what happens to the indicators but whenever I turn on the headlights and rearlights (which are about the only thing that work properly) they blink very randomly and very brightly, much brighter than when I use them. 9. It doesn't have a trunk cover anymore, It was torn away in some pile-up a year ago and I got this sheet of metal that matches the descriptions and got a couple hooks to hook it on. 10. Brake light is not working 11. Both side mirrors are horribly cracked 12. AC/Heater does not work, I have a small portable fan hung on a ledge The mileage meter has turned back to zero, so I estimate it's done 1,342,000 miles (currently 342,411 on the odo)

  • Open Question: Sales and advertising job interview, HELP!?!?
i have no experience in the field, the interview went well, and they have asked me to do a 'shadowing shift' followed by a test on Monday. I was wondering if there is anything i can do/ practice/ read to improve my knowlege and give me an edge and improve my chances. Basically any advice at all would be appreciated! (i have already researched the company and so have knowledge of their background and current turn over etc...) I'm pretty sure its not a scam job, i visited the office and spoke to a few employees. The job will be conducted from an office, arranging advertising promotions for a range of companies. Having researched the company, it seems legitimate. :) but thanks for the heads up!

  • Open Question: Name of a Florida refurbisher/reseller of laptop computers?
Anyone know the name of the outfit in Florida that advertises (advertised? I haven't seen one of their ads in a while) used/refurbished laptops? I found many of their ads on Cragslist in late 2007 and into early 2008. Their prices were very reasonable, they offered good warranties, credits (usually $25) for trading in old laptops and free shipping as I recall. I looked tonight and wasn't able to find any of their ads, old or new, nor did any hits on a google search ring a bell. Just looking for the name so I can see if they're still doing business. It's one of those situations where the name is right on the tip of my tongue and for whatever reason, I can't spit it out, lol. Thanks

  • Open Question: Arby's False Advertisement? No mozzarella sticks on the pick 5 for 5.95 in Lafayette, Indiana.?
I live in Lafayette, Indiana. When the pick 5 for 5.95 was first introduced at Arby's the mozzarella sticks were on the menu. They then came off of our pick 5 for some unknown reason. Then the price went up to 5 for 6.95 which seemed horrible (probably because they ruined the alliteration). Anyway, I was super excited to see the Arby's commercials on television advertising the Pick 5 for 5.95 was back and so were the mozzarella sticks. I was in disbelief and figured they looped an older commercial. I checked the website just to make sure, and the website has the mozzarella sticks on it too. I excitedly drive up to Arby's, don't see the mozzarella sticks on their pick 5 menu, ask if they're on there or not, and I am told no. Why me? :( Blythe: Yeah the one on 52. What a small world. thatartistwin: Thank you for your prayers. I will be sending them a letter shortly.

  • Open Question: Can someone explain the all the rabid patriotism all americans seem to have?
People go on about how its the greatest country in the world and advertise "freedoms" which are offered in many countries. The economy is awful, the country is billions of dollars in debt. The education system is bad, there are serious weight problems. And the country is run by an idiot, and a lot of the people living in it are close minded over-religious idiots. Please by all means present me with a reason why this country is the greatest in the world an I'll believe it. Please don't string together a series of swear words and call me a communist, that would just prove my point further Thank you. Allright, who is responsible? At the risk of sounding ignorant: No I have not heard that expression. Could you explain it and it's pertinance to my question. I am not a US citizen, I spent most of my life living in Britain and The Netherlands. I didn't expect much better than this. Let me lay some things out for you. You seem to think America China and Afghanistan are the only countries in the world. I find it very funny I am being called naive when you get ignorant xenophobes claiming free speech is punished with decapitation. I also didnt say all americans are "idiots", I merely used the example of your president to point out the fact that ove half your country is either stupid or selfish and close-minded. Let me say this again. People say tis the best country inthe world, THE WORLD, not within China and The US. Europe is full of countries with the same, and more freedoms than the USA. Another answerer also helped prove the ignorance that many Americans have. The meaning on Communism is that everyone gets the same quota, it has negative connotations for two reasons: 1. Americas owners do NOT want it because it would mean they would have to share their mass wealth. 2. Human greed always takes over in these situations and that makes communism not work socially. What mr "freedom vs communism" doesnt know is that there is a difference between communism and dictatorship. I said most, most is not all. If you didn't votefor Bush GREAT! Welcome to the inteligent side of the table [mostly]. If you aren't stupidl wealthy and selfish but still voted for Bush you dont really have much of an argument to say you arent an idiot. I am living in California at the moment and there are loads of down to earth people with common sense. Although this is just a portion of the popuace of america, and its a Blue State. You have a good point that not EVERYONe is patriotic and I never claimed they all were. I have no problem with patriotism, but I do have a problem with people saying it is the greatest country in the world and they just overlook all the flaws. Those are the people this was directed at, im sorry if i caused this misunderstanding, I nwas hoping some of those people would answer.

I have always been interested in entrepreneurship in general. Out of a career, I just don't want get out of bed and dread going to work. Life is too short to be stressed. • Open Question: How to write an e-mail to expediate a reply from the company?
This company(bank - starting to operate in mid oct/nov this year) says that they will take a month to give me a reply whether I will be offered the job. This is because they need to send the applications back to the head office (in another country) for the final decision and to determine pay and benefits. I have already attended the interview and am now waiting for their reply. After the interview, I wrote a simple e-mail thanking them for their time. Oh yes, since I went for the interview, they never advertised again. Does that mean that they selected the people and are awaiting HQ's instruction? Is it necessary to write an e-mail to follow-up on a weekly basis? If so, what should I write? Will they forget who you are?

  • Resolved Question: Why do people ignore the FACT that Obama is a racist?
Amongst other things... As shown by his pastor of 20 years, and the company he keeps? Heres your sources...the hourses mouth. Direct from obama himself... From Dreams of My Father: I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites. From Dreams of My Father : I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mothers race. From Dreams of My Father: There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white. From Dreams of My Father: It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names. From Dreams of My Father: I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela. From Audacity of Hope: I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction. yeah i did read it as matter of fact. I like to know first hand what i may be voting for, i wasnt impressed. Wow, denial is such an ugly thing isint it? So how does quoting obama make me a racist? wow liberal logic is truely baffling
  • Open Question: What's wrong with my google adwords account? How to optimize?
Here is a question. I have [specifically targeted] ads and only 2 or 3 advertising on those key words what so ever but my costs keep going up. I'm on the first ad shown position but every few days later, the bid goes up 0.20 to .25 to 0.50 to 1.20.... Why does this happen? For certain keywords. a day later, some of my ads are not displaying, using 'ad diagnostic tool', I got this message: "Although your ad is showing, its rank is not high enough to place it on the first page of search results." but few hrs ago, I'm on the first ad shown position. What's the deal?! and some keywords get the message: 'The user is located outside your campaign's geo-targeting area.' but I got impressions before, why will get this message? Anyone could help? Thanks in advance.
  • Open Question: Mature age for smoking weed?
If you're seriously anti-marijuana, I would prefer you didn't answer. Want well thought experienced and open minded answers. I didn't start smoking weed till I was at Uni and have done so in moderation ever since on a recreational basis. I work full time now in advertising and life is A okay. I've met plenty of people in a similar position and mindset to myself. BUT I've also met people who fit the negative stereotype where there marijuana use isn't as positive. Generally I've found they started smoking in high school. I often think that if I'd started smoking in high school, I don't think I would have been in the mindset to have handled my hormones, school work and set myself up for a healthy, manageable relationship with weed. Do you think smoking weed in high school is unwise? Seriously, some day time television housewives can't help themselves :)
