Open Question: Alternative to iTunes for playing music on my PC?
I don't have an iPod, but have been using iTunes to play music on my laptop for a couple of years. I am travelling in Spain on my motorbike, so it is my only way of playing music. My small hard drive is now full, so I deleted Quicktime, but now iTunes doesn't work so I've uninstalled it. I liked the jukebox-type layout of iTunes, with the CD cover pictures etc. and the party shuffle mode. Is there any other free software out there which I can use?

I've been with my girlfriend for about four years now and we have had some issues with our interests.
Currently all I know is that she really likes music(mostly classic rock, alternative, some RNB or rap?) and she likes TV shows like Dances with the Stars, So you think you can Dance, some soaps, American Idle, Canadian Idle kinda and stuff like that.
I'm totally into stuff like video games(hardcore oldschool RPGS(FFVII, FPS, Action-Adventure RPGS, but open to anything fun), Star Trek/Star Wars, Star Wars expanded universe, Table Top RPGS, etc.
OK, so i've tried to intoduce her to Video Games via my Xbox and its seem to come to a stand still... She had lots of fun playing Rock Band and Top Spin, but she has no interest in diving into any type of RPG or anything else.

Ok, see this was my idea for my story, but idk. am not convinced.
ok, it starts out as a 15 year old girl who has a great voice, but record companies turn her down. She's struck hard.
20 years later, she has a 15 year daughter, and shes a single mother and works as an accountant.
The daughter has never met her father and wants to search for him. on the way to discovering her father, she discovers her mother's true dream was.
The daughter realizes that she too has singing skills and wants to try it out in the big world, but shes afraid of what her mother might think. She tries out for record companies.
One record company gave her a 50,000 record deal. She accidentally tells her mother.
Her mother doesnt understand why she wants to be a singer, or she pretends.
Her daughter decides to take it anyway. Her mother and her dont talk for a while.
But the daughter doesnt mind, because she recording a cd. On the way to fame, she meets a guy and she thinks hes really nice.
they go out and they plan on getting married.the daughter releases her first album.
and its an instant hit, top of the charts. it's a happy ending. until...book 2!
book 2( needs a title too)- her mom is really surprised at how well things are going in her daughter's life and apologizes for trying to hold her back from her dream.
But her daughter takes everything for granted. She does a lot of concerts and on one occasion when her fiance wasnt around, she fooled around with her manager...if you no wat i mean.
Her fiance finds them and breaks up wit her. Shes depressed and does drugs.
Her manager quit after she stopped fooling around with him.
So, she hasnt seen her mom for a while. So she goes to see her mom.
Her mom is scared, bcuz she looks dead.
The daughter denies doing drugs.
But her mother checked her urine at a clinic and the daughter was lying of course. Her mother sent her to rehab, which her father owned. Yes, she found out nd he helps her out.
Apparently, her ex works there. nd she tries to avoid him, bcuz shes ashamed of herself.
He finds her one times. nd the daughter was really timid. the ex said he wanted to help her, but thats all he was going to be to her, a helper.
She understood.
But soon enough they both fell head over heals over eachother. ultimately, she got off the drugs, nd she got back in the music industry, only this time she was a alternative singer.
She didnt do as many concerts. Nd yes, she did again fool around with her manager, but her manager was her fiance. They married. And the book ends with them fooling around.
What do you think?

Why do people think that their own musical tastes are better than everyone else's? I mean everybody, but more so, people who are like, "Let me show you some REAL rock." And that because of that, they can call other music "crap" and make fun of different scenes, etc. Why do you tihnk such a big deal is made about "selling out"?

Hi. This christmas I want to do things differently as I'm sick of the same old boring stuff every year. I figured i would decorate my rooms in red, orange, yellow and green. And for dinner I will serve a Mexican Fiesta: Chicken Enchiladas, Chilli con Carne, Hot Jalapeno Nachos, Refried Beans, Tortillas and Salad. I will serve Chocolate Chili Torte for dessert and we will drink Champagne Margharitas!
We will listen to mexican music and chrsitmas carols during dinner.

I want to use the simplified genres in the "Genre" field when you go to "Get Info" (ex. Alternative, Pop, Rock, etc.)
Except some music could fall into multiple categories and be "Alternative Rock" or "Pop Punk" right? right. But I just want to put it under one of them, but still have the extra genres...somewhere. except I don't know where! where? (group? comments? how do people put "tags" on their music?)
and then what would I do once I have organized sub-genres and genres? Like, how would I browse through music by using both sub-genres and genres? (smart playlists? but under what conditions?)

Open Question: R.I.P. Rock Music: 1954-2004?
Basically I think once hair metal became popular rock was on its death bed. Grunge was the defibrillator and it revived rock by bringing Alternative to the masses... but thanks to the likes NSYNC and BackStreet Boys it died again. It seems rock was somewhat rececitated with the little garage rock boom that lasted form 2002 to 2003... but yet again it died and it appears right now it wont be coming back. Yes I know there are some great underground bands... but nobody is listening to them.
Anybody else agree with me?
The white stripes is basically the boner a man has after he dies. Yeah it seems like a sign of life but it wont last very long.
What I mean by nobody is listening to them is that not enough peopler like them to bring upon a revolution like grunge.

Resolved Question: Photo slide show programmes that give better results than Windows Movie Maker?
I have made several DVD's of photograph slideshows with background music with pretty good results using Windows Movie Maker but I'm fed up with the programme crashing so I'm looking for a good alternative.

I am specifically trying to edit song title, artist, album title, and track number. The reason why is that the Zune software is atrocious and rarely works.
