Resolved Question: How would I go about selling some rare uncut black opals?
My mother has a pint jar filled with raw uncut black australian opals. she obtained them in a divorce. She has had them for years and I have seen them myself. The stones are good size, uncut and alltogether she ahs over a pound of them. It is my understanding they are very rare and sell for a lot of money per gram. How would I go about finding a buyer for some or all of the stones? What steps should I take? It there a high demand for these stones out there? Tell me what you know aboutt his sort of thing. Does anyone know if you can engrave tourmaline? i want to get a date engraved in a bracelet... Its for my girlfriend.. just an idea for now... Or would it be better/easier to engrave Opal? i know its an odd question.... But if theres any jewellers out there, is it doable? and ROUGHLY what would be the cost? (australian dollars please $$$) thanks, but i dont know if you can actually engrave tourmaline, or opal.. i dont know anything about it, but for example, you cant engrave paper.. you cant engrave lots of things.. i dont know if opal or tourmaline are part of the "Cant engrave" family.. like said, im clueless

Resolved Question: I think my australian rainbowfish has ick should i be worried?
so i have 4 fish, a dwarf gourami,opal gourami, australian rainbowfish and a pictus cat. My dwarf has had ick for about a week and hole in the head for the saem amount of time,i just finished up the treatment (general cure) for the hole in the head my local pet store manager told me that it would cure both ick and HITH, HITH has been successfully decreasing and it's scaling over. But the ick is still very present and visible,i just noticed one small white spot on my australian rainbowfish today, no other fish has it,should i be worried he's going to get full blown ick? or is this one spot not that big of a deal? thanks for the help...oh i should probably mention that it's a new tank 46 gallons, my ammonia is at 4 ppm yes i know i'ts really bad we're also working on that i use something called cycle which was recommended to me i guess it's suppose to help the biological system. my nitrate's are about 5 ppm. my pet store manager thinks that it was the medicine that made the ammonia so high, he said because my tank is new ( 2 and a half weeks old ) it will take some time before it goes down. see i have a quarentine tank that i was going to put my dwarf in but i read online that it didn't matter and that i should just keep them together and treat the entire tank so i was confused....and i was told that if i got another med for them it would just be doubling hte dose of medication for no reason

so i have a new catfish along with an opal gourami,a sunset gourami,and a australian rainbowfish, they're all new to my tank they're also the only 4 in there,but the catfish does nothing but hide and i know catfish are known for hiding but he never comes out i see him but can't get him to come out is he scared?What could be the reasons? i have a 46 gal tank, and my dad only wants one pictus cuz of it's size potential. Also there is a decent amount of cover a sunken ship,and a hollow log are there.

I used to work in a bead shop and then for an Australian opal dealer. My goal is to one day have the knowledge and skills to set the best quality gems in the world.
