Hello,
I send in what i thought was to be my final ( YEY!) payement on my car, that i bought for $4900 in october of 2007. I lost my copy of the contract. ( stupid i know.. but what can you do?) i got an invoice from him, saying my last payment was in dec. of 08, and everything was on track.
after i sent in my LAST payement, the dealership/guy i bought the car from, sends me an invoice saying that i owe him an additional 17 payments for the car.... putting my total cost of the car a little over $7000. and he sent me a copy of the contract that VERY CLEARLY has numbers written over other numbers and the wrong date i bought the car, and the wrong amount for the down payment. HAHAHA.. i laughed.
So, heres my question to you all.. First, should i get a lawyer..
second, do i have a case even though i lost my copy of the contract? i mean, the one he sent to me is CLEARLY tampered with, and i have invoices and check stubs for every payment.

I heard by purchasing cars on the last day of the month/quarter/year that sales peoples will want to boost there numbers which means they could be more apt to reduce the price. I know it's a good time to buy now with auto being in great supply, but realistically how much can I save by pruchasing on 12/31. As an example, the invoice on a 2009 Corolla is 16,000 and MSRP is 17,500. Is it reasonable to ask $15,000? $14,000? I know the dealer has still quite a few of them on the lot as well. Any suggestions? Thoughts?

I am negotiating to buy a new Lexus. I'm in Northern California.
The dealer charges $700 "leasing origination fee". I think some place refers to this fee as an "acquisition" fee. The problem is that I'm not going to a different leasing company. I'm getting the lease thru Lexus Financial.
BTW, the dealer is willing to offer the car to me at $1000 below dealer invoice.

An acquisition fee is required by most leasing companies in order to open a lease. This fee, also known as a lease origination fee, is usually around $450, but can be as high as $700. Well unfortunately my boyfriend and I just bought a brand new car last Wednesday (a 2009 Toyota Camry) and on THURSDAY some girl came flying out of a parking lot, attempting to make a left hand turn and beat oncoming traffic just as we were passing and she hit the front passenger tire/fender of the car. The car was not drivable so it was towed to a nearby body shop. We went to look at the car Saturday and got the estimate ($6,000) and one of the details on the invoice said "Frame Straightening and Labor".
I have a few different questions if anyone can help. First off, if the frame is bent isn't the car totaled?
Second, The police report stated the other driver was at fault, so are we entitled to a rental from her ins. company? (We can't do the reimbursement, they need to set it up because my boyfriend and I are 18 and 19, no one will rent to under 21 unless through the insurance)
Also, her insurance company called asking for our side of what happened.. will they try and use things we say as a defense against us, or will they help us out?

Thanks for all of the answers so far, just to add a couple of things, the car had 300 miles on it. We are not trying to get a "new" one because this one is pretty much brand new. But we really don't want to have problems with it later if the frame is bent. I know the body shop wants to make money so they aren't telling us up front that the frame is bent. Yet the invoice says "frame straightening and labor".. We haven't even made a payment yet on the car, so we'd be happy with our down payment back and the lien off of our names, so would we tell this to our insurance adjustor?

A while back, I slowly backed up into a parked car in a parking deck. Instinctively I got out and checked, and there NO damages. I've got a honda accord and I bumped into a Honda CR-V. I should have stayed or left my information behind, but I didn't. I didn't think I needed to stick around. Now, the city is taking me to court because coincidentally there was a witness and I may be charged with "leaving the scene of an accident and property damage". And the person that I hit wants $550.00 but has no invoice from the auto shop. I called Honda and they will order and install a new CR-V bumper for just $330. The insurance company seems to be getting frustrated since they're not sure either if there was damage. Also, there were no pictures and the police report says $100 in estimated damages. What are my options??? Is it still considered a "hit and run" if there were no damages??

I'm not familiar with car prices in USA, and on Yahoo! autos I found that the price of new Subaru Impreza STI is MSRP $34,995 and invoice $33,010. I'm not familiar with those terms, but if I'm not mistaken, that means that the price of the car is around $33,000, which is about 20,000€, and the price here in Europe is around 55,000€. Thet sounds unbeliveable to me, but if I'm correct, can I buy that car and have it shipped to Europe? And how much would I pay for additional expences (shipping, taxes etc.)?

I traded services with a guy, I did design work for his website and he performed some auto repairs to my car. Well, in the end he told me that his friend could design a website for him for next to nothing and he decided that I needed to pay him for the work done to my car. (I had already half designed his website) Of course I said that would not work because that was not our intitial verbal contract (I know, I should have gotten it in writing!) I told him that he could have the files that I had completed for his website and I wanted to come pick up my car (it was half completed as well). He told me that he has hid my car and until I paid him I would not be getting it back. I printed up an invoice of the work that I did and asked to see an invoice of the work he had done. He has not provided me with ANY information. He is avoiding me. I checked to see if he has a mechanics lien on the car and he does not. Is his actions legal?
Update:
I went to the police station this morning and they said that if I knew where the car was located they would go there with me and watch while I tried to get it, but since the car has been hidden there was nothing they could do. I am so upset!

I got myself into a really bad situation...bought a car in August 06 and financed it directly through the dealership. I was told they'd send me my payment book, to go home and wait on the details of the loan to be worked out but that my monthly payment would be no more than $100 what I was paying for the car I traded in. I waited, and waited. December rolls around, they threaten to come repossess the car because I had not paid...yet they had never sent me an invoice. I go in, the rude guy shoves a bunch of papers in front of me...I found out I had been driving on illegal tags. The deal didn't get complete until December and at that point I finally sign a sales contract, only it happened so fast I didn't know what I had gotten myself into. I just didn't want them to take my car. Anyway the dealership has me financed at 20.400% interest. I have paid that for 18 months, never missing a payment. They are not reporting to the credit companies.
Someone also made a mistake in the invoices they were sending me for the last year and a half (that is WHEN they actually sent invoices). So they apparantly did not factor in the interest. It has added an additional $5000 something to what I thought I owed on the car itself. Because they are not reporting it to the credit companies, I am not getting my credit built up. I desperately want out from under this dealership. They have done nothing but screwed me over since day one. There are more bad things they have done but I could go on and on with it. Simply put, I cannot afford $436.25 a month car payment anymore. When I bought the car, I was told they'd report it and I could get it refinanced within a year or two. Well that time has come and my life situation has changed...I am newly married among other things. What can I do? How could I possibly get it refinanced?
I tried to request it be reported to my credit reports, as a consumer and was told I cannot do that. That the lender must open an account with the companies, TransUnion, Equifax, Experian. I have really been screwed over BIG TIME! The woman who handles the paperwork at the dealership said these companies told her I had to request it to be added, but we know this is not true!
I have no co-signer and to make matters worse they have applied at least 3/4 of every payment to the INTEREST so I owe more than the car is worth towards the principal at this time.

I am trying to get approved for a new lease through chrysler the jeep is being sold to me for invoice which is @29k. We were denied under my wifes name today. No repos, she actually already has a Jeep through Chrysler and has never been late in over a year, and she is actually never late on any payments...I make the mortgage payments which are in her name and occassionaly they are late. I think the big problem is I was in a bad accident about 5 months ago. A month later I was told that it was a total..So I stopped making the payments. Needless to say it took the insurance company about 4 months to pay the damn car off which only happened like a few days ago. So for all I know that is showing on her report as a repo or default or who knows.

Resolved Question: Body Shop Supplement Request?
My insurance sent out an independent auto appraiser to appraise the damages. He came out and basically appraised the damages for higher than what was needed after the body shop did their own inspection.
My insurance has cut me a check for the amount that he appraised my damages for. The body shop has completed my car and now their not giving me their final invoice until their supplement request is approved. Granted, I need the final invoice so I can overnight the check to my lienholder to sign the check as well(They require the final invoice).
Alright, my question is .... If the cost of repairs are FAR less than the check and my deductible then why do they need to ask for a supplement request? Isn't a supplement request asking for more money?
This is an authorized dealer's body shop but I believe some sham is being commited. If your telling me the cost of repairs were cheaper than the original estimate then why ask for a supplement?

So they should be in charge of the check? My insurance company mailed the check to me. It needed my signature and the lien holder's signature.

Unforunately, they won't reimburse me the remainer and they won't include my deductible into it. I asked last week.
Car's been in the shop for almost a month and I'm growing restless as its my only car.
I'm going to run the option of dropping my deductible and the check off and letting me get my car, by them tomorrow.

Can this be done? I am looking at a left over truck that currently has 0% financing available. The dealer is offering it @ invoice, so the deal seems legit. My only problem is my negative equity right now.....in the area 5000! Ouch I know, stupid mistake made a few years ago. Anyhow, the current loan is also with GMAC. If I were them, I would not sacrifice the 4.5% they were earning on my negative equity and allow me to roll it into 0%, but I'm hoping they allow it in order to push one more new car. First off we use T-mobile, one of the WORST carriers of all time. We were having problems with a phone we had purchased (brand new) , we had it replaced, and they sent us a refurbished phone. The phone had problems from the get go, (auto scrolled through phone book, screen flashed uncontrollably, wouldn't recieve calls/messages or even the notification of the missed calls for over a week)... Well we got our phone bill today, and they invoiced us for 108.25... FOR THE BROKEN PHONE THEY SENT US. They are calling it water damage, however the phone was only ever in 2 places, 1 a desk drawer, and 2 my pocket (needless to say, i wasn't jumping in pools or spilling anything on myself) ... We spoke with 2 customer service reps, who explained that the charges are undisputable... we then asked for a manager or supervisor, they had to call us back, because again, T-Mobile is the work cell phone carrier in the world... he called back and basically said "tuff shit". How would one go about solving?
Also, we asked them for some sort of proof that A:it was truly water damaged, and B:that the REFURBISHED phone was infact damaged by us... the supervisor had nothing to say to that, other than, "it's going to be your word against ours"... which to me sounded as if we've been duped and he knows it.
I asked the supervisor if there was someone above him that i could speak to about this issue, he explained that there was infact no one above him who could handle this (which we all know is BS, cuz he's not the president of the company, and everyone has a boss), so we asked to either speak with the people who "inspected" the phone, he said that it was not possible, which i find very very hard to believe.
Or that he refund me the price of the 4 contracts i lost due to this cellular device. (due to the latency of the calls, i lost 4 $500 contracts in one week, due to unreturned calls), of course, he said it was not possible because we do not have a "business cell phone account"...
the customer service rep we spoke with when we needed to return the phone asked us to check the white dot under the battery, we did, it was there, it was white...
there for ... no water damage...
furthermore.... i spoke with one more very helpful, very polite customer service rep named charity... she informed us, that t-mobile COULD have issued a credit, however we were told MULTIPLE times that it is physically impossible to credit this type of issue...
now we've been lied to, and are having 108.25 STOLEN from us.
the biggest part of this issue, is that it was a refurbished phone, that didn't work. and when we send it back, we're charged for breaking it. talk about a get rich quick scheme.

The Invoice price paid by the dealer was left off of the Yahoo.ca website, so hard to know how badly the manufacturer is treating Canadian dealers and customers. I have heard recently of "Canadian" pricing, but it looks more like something to make us feel better, than actual savings in our pockets. Perhaps we need to demand "North American Homeland" pricing here in Canada.
I understand that there are slight differences in Canada vs the US such as wages and taxes, but a $14K difference is insane.
It really feels like the Auto Manufacturers are trying to recoup profits lost in the states due to "Homeland" pricing, and make it up on the backs of Canadians. We need to send these characters a strong message.

We own an auto upholstery business. We were asked by a customer to redsign the seats on her brand new vehicle. My husband who was handling things while I was caring for my mother, failed to get a PO from the dealership. He left several messages that never got returned.
15 mos later, I discover that the invoice was still open. I made several attempts to contact the GM and the salesman who sold her the car; my calls & e-mails were not returned. After contacting the CEO , I received an e-mail from the GM stating No PO, No Payment.
My husband had been in contact with the customer who was more than happy to help. I sent her an invoice & e-mail from the GM. She called screaming & ranting, "It's not her fault that we did not get a PO and that we waited over a year to submit a bill" "that what we were doing was criminal". I calmly asked her to stop yelling at me and attempted to difuse the siutation; she hung up on me.
How would you handle the situation???????
We work with a number of dealerships in the area. It is not uncommon for them to drop off a car or send over a customer without a PO. and for us to have to chase them down for the PO. It has never been a problem, until now.

It looks like Honda dealer's inovice price is very close to edmuns' price. Should I negotiate the price down more? If I can not negotiate down the price, any chance I could talk to them give me free tint glass?
The Lexus ES350 is $2000 over the yahoo atuo website. Is that reasonable price?
I really like Lexus. If I could get the price very close to the yahoo auto site, I might consider go for Lexus. But if there no hope for $2000 less, I will go for Accord.
