Does anyone out there know where I can find a repair manual for my 2006 Chevy Aveo? I drive about 200 miles per day.... thats right 200 miles per day and have quickly added over 60000 miles to this little hatchback without a single check engine light or mechanical problem. I have already tried Advance Auto and O'Reillys. Didn't have them.

  • Resolved Question: Looking for a good auto repair/repair order program.?
I have a small shop at home and I'm getting busy to the point that I'm looking into repair manuals on CD or DVD that also can generate repair orders. I am looking for opinions on the different labor guides and repair manuals. I would ideally like a program that has both. I've seen Mitchell and All data. As most vehicles I work on are generally 5 or more years old I'm looking at a one time buy since I don't really need monthly updates. If any of you other small shop owners can give me some insight / opinions I would greatly appreciate it.
  • Resolved Question: 2nd try: Does anyone know what fuse goes where in a 1995 4-Cly jeep grand Cherokee Laredo?
My truck has been down for over a year. I already fixed the starter and replaced the battery and repaired the brakes, but the fuse box on the right hand side next to the clutch pedal is missing a cover plate. How am I going to know what fuse goes where, when there's no sign of amperage. I've looked everywhere on the internet and checked local auto shops and came up with nothing. Also I have no manual for this secondhand vehicle. And there’s no place in the Chilton Manual that shows the fuse box and its fuse amperage for each slot. Any help will be appreciated!
  • Resolved Question: What kind of engine can I put in a 83 El Camino?
The vehicle currently has a tierd v6 in it. I plan on putting something larger in it and maybe putting some minor aftermarket upgrades onto it such as an elderbrock carb, exhaust and so forth. I want an engine the I can use a manual, like haynes for example, to make minor repairs. • Resolved Question: someone please help, my lens is jammed!?
Someone please help me. I have had my Nikon D40 for almost a year now and it came with a basic 18-55 mm lens. I love the lens and have gotten very used to it. I keep the entire camera in a padded bag with the lens attached and everything. I know that if I always detach the lens from the body and store them separately, this probably would not have happened, but I found that if I ALWAYS store them separately, I risk getting dust or dirt in the mirror thing or whatever its called when reattaching the two pieces, plus it saves me time whenever I come across one of those "quick needed shots" So basically, one of my co-workers put my purse and camera bag under the counter today where I work, but she put it on there like, half assed and when someone walked by it, it fell lens FIRST onto the floor. It was in the padded bag, but because the body didn't go first, the extra weight must have been enough to jam my lens. My camera has fallen from that height before (only about two feet) but I always stored my camera with the body OUT so that in case it did fall, it wouldn't really get hurt. So whenever I tried to take a picture, it wouldn't automatically focus. It now makes a weird clicking sound and squeaky noise whenever you try to auto focus, and when put on manual focus, it doesn't go out to its full extend. It's almost as if when it fell, it ground some gears or something. I just don't know. But before I haul it off to a shop and possibly spend tons of money, I wondered if anyone has experienced the same thing and maybe has some tips? Or if this has happened and you had to have it repaired how much did it cost? I just got a telephoto lens (55-200) so its my back up, but that can't be a replacement, it just zooms in too far. Please and thank you for your help in advance. Hannah

  • Resolved Question: Having trouble loading back on the audio driver after using auto-repair on my Windows installation cd...?
I used the built-in auto-repair function on my Windows XP Installation CD to repair problems with Windows that had developed on my computer, (leaving all files intact---so I didn't have to backup.) The process I used is explained in this article (given to me by 'KARZ' from this site). http://www.informationweek.com/shared/printableArticle.jhtml?articleID=189400897 And, as he told me, all I had to do was install the drivers afterward. I put in the separate disc with drivers on it that came with the computer and TRIED to load the drivers using the instructions from my Dell 2350 owners manual but I guess I failed, or partly failed. But the computer does work, and I can access the internet after I eventually somehow stumbled into putting a driver to work for the modem even though it's apparently not the one that came with the computer. I still can't figure out how to load the audio driver. Is there some trick to this? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Everyone, I’ve recently lost my D40 and kit lens. I have some manual lenses, camera bodies and filters, I’m thinking of selling. Does not need any repair unless the crack bothers anyone. Body 2 (serial number 6991308) works alright but there seems to be a problem at slow shutter speeds the screen does not come back until you change the speed. I think it is some oil leaked that’s slowing down or halting the screen. • Resolved Question: Replacing rear brakes and front wheel hub/bearing assemblies on my 2002 Chevy Blazer.?
I am a novice when it comes to auto repair. Recently, I discovered problems with my Blazer and had an estimate done. I need to replace the rear brakes and the front wheel hub/bearing assemblies. I was quoted en estimate of $1400 for the total repair and after shopping around, that seems to be the standard average for the type of repair. Is this something I could do by myself if I get the parts from a Napa or Auto Zone, get a manual or steps to properly do the repairs, and then go have an alignment done?

  • Resolved Question: 2006 Chevy Impala LT 3.5L V6 Pedal Position Sensor Low Input?
I have a 2006 Chevy Impala LT 3.5L V6 (regular not flex) that has an intermediate check engine light coming on and off. The odbii code states it is the pedal position sensor low input (I don't remember the exact code number). I went to Napa, Autozone and Advanced Auto parts. None of the stores had a repair manual or a pedal position sensor. They all had a throttle position sensor, but neither I nor Advanced Auto Parts could find where it is located on the vehicle. Does anyone know IF the 06 Impala even has a pedal position sensor? If not, where is the throttle position sensor located on the engine? Any help is greatly appreciated!
  • Resolved Question: 2004 Honda Accord Coupe check engine light? ?
In my 2004 Honda Accord Coupe (V6 3.0, 6-speed), my check engine light came on this morning. I flip through the car manual and it says it could be that my gas lid wasn't tight enough last time I screwed it on and to tighten it to 3-clicks. It said to drive around and if that was the only problem, the light should go off within 3 days. Being cautious, I took it to my regular auto shop and an hour later, they said that that I had 2 bad O2 upstream sensors accord to the codes. They said the repair would be $500. Symptoms are less MPG and that if that is the problem, continued driving could cause damage to the catalytic converter. I was going to take it to another shop to get a second opinion, however, about 2 hours later, the light went off. It's been off ever since and now I'm in a dilemma because I don't know if anything is wrong. Did it turn off because the gas cap was the problem? My MPG has been on point. One source of advice says I should drive it and if it comes back, on, get a second opinion. If it stays off, seek my $50 for the diagnostic back from the shop. Advice please? I took it to Advance Auto Parts and scanned the car. It came back with two codes relating to O2 sensors. So even though the check engine light isn't currently on, I think I'm going to take it to get the sensors replaced :(

  • Resolved Question: How can you make my Hard drive recognized by Windows XP?
What initiated it: My system won't start, so I repaired the system with the CD and pressed option "R." Problem: I have two hard drives. I want my system to be able to recognized the other Harddrive which has the bulk of my files. It recognizes it in BIOS but it is not seen in Windows Explorer. The Computer Management also sees my other harddrive, but with no drive letter and with a right click, the options I have are Delete Partition & Help. The size is what is should be because it has that much files, its NTFS, Healthy (Active), etc. I have messed around with the Harddrive jumpers to cable select & slave and also changed the BIOS to Auto, Manual, etc. I really can't afford to lose the files in my secondary Harddrive. HELP PLEASE!!!

  • Resolved Question: How do I drive a Fiat Punto automatic 1.4 2007?
I got this car today as a courtesy car as my car was rammed from behind and needs repair. The car seems to have a gear stick with a + sign at the top with the letter N, then to the left of that further down is A/M which changes from manual to automatic, then further down below the + and N, there is a - and R to go into reverse. When I stop the car and turn the engine off, it makes a noise if its left in 'auto N', ie, in neutral, and the noise stops, if I put it in '1 auto'. Im really worried about this because the '1' seems to indicate 'drive'. There does not seem to be a 'park' section on the gears, how do I park it up safely?? Also there is a green light on the dashboard, saying 'CITY', and I dont know what this means and cant see how to turn it off. Theres no manual with the car, the bloke didnt explain all this to me. thanks brain, however, by the sounds of it, they have changed a great deal. There is no button on the gear, anywhere. There are only 3 positions, neutral, reverse and then a/m (which means either automatic or manual). Im used to a normal automatic whereby neutral is not secure and the car must be in 'park' to secure it and 'drive' to drive it. This gear doesnt have 'drive' on it, the computer screen just shows 'auto 1' or 'auto 2' right up to 4 for all the gears as you're driving. I find it all very strange.
  • Resolved Question: 100K mile auto checkup, dealer or auto shop?
My Honda is just over 100K miles now and I would like to have the major components (as listed in the owners manual) checked and replaced as needed. Obviously taking it to the dealer would mean that all parts would be available and there *may* be more expertise there. However dealers charge inflated prices and may perform unneeded work. Would it be a better idea to take it to a good auto repair place and ask them to perform the recommended checks, saving significant $? Ideas? Thanks.

  • Voting Question: 1996 Saturn Car Trouble?
1996 Saturn SC1, SOHC 1.9, 5 speed. Did a recent tune-up. Bought Bosch Platnum Plugs. My car and manual says gap should be .060. Autozone, and all the other auto part stores say .040 and the plugs I pulled out were at .040. I gapped according to my viecles specifications. Now check engine light came on for several codes. P0137,P0141,P0300,P0138,P1406,P0507. Check engine light never came on before this. Car runs like crap now and was stalling everytime I stopped. Took it to a Auto store put new plugs in at .040 and runs better but codes are still comeing up and occasional stalling. When I bought the car, there was a hole on the exaust (At the pipe coming off the manifold, closwe to where it connects by the Catalic Converter. To big to seal so I cut the pipe and put a new exaust repair flex pipe. I had to drive the car about a mile with the exaust cut and the CEL came on. Took it to the store after I put the pipe on and it came up all these o2 Codes. Like I said the pipe was severed when the lights came on, so I am thinking the CEL came on because it was cut at the time. AutoZone reset all the codes, no light came on, but it still stalls occasionally and shakes when stopped in gear. What can be doing this? And how can it be fixed without seeing a mechanic being I can get into one until Friday and need this fixed ASAP. Thanks

  • Resolved Question: Where is my canister purge valve?
I drive a 1996 Buick regal custom 3.8L. The other day my service engine light came on so I took the vehicle to Auto Zone and had them read the code. The code was p0441: emission control system incorrect purge flow. The guy ordered me a new canister purge valve, but I can not find where the little fucker is in my car. I bought a haynes repair manual for my model vehicle and it said that for some model cars the valve is in the canister itself, but it just doesn't seem like it could fit. I know that the canister is in the rear of the car, behind the left tire, but I don't know where this valve is, any help would be appreciated. *this isn't the same as the purge solenoid mounted near the intake manifold*

  • Resolved Question: What's the best online auto repair manual?
I am a DIY mechanic (when I possibly can be) and need to buy one to repair my rear drum brakes. I have been looking at Chiltons online, Alldata, and eautorepair.com. Of course I was thinking about Chiltons firstly, as they are the company I have always bought my hardcopy repair manuals from, but this Alldata claims to have technical bulletins and recall info about my car also. Chiltons doesn't seem to have that stuff (or at least advertise having it) with their online manuals...
  • Resolved Question: 1996 dodge stratus [[mechanics only]]?
Im having some serious trouble finding a part for my engine. Me & my boyfriend just redid the entire timing belt and we found that the tensioner pin locked up on me. So looking for the part is giving us some problems. If you have some knowledge or look into the Haynes Repair Manual on the Chrysler Sebring-Dodge Stratus & Avenger book. on page 2A-12 Chapter 2 Part A 4 Cylinders. On the very top of the page theres this tensioner in picture 7.21a So far we went to all these auto stores and they have no idea what the part is. The dealer is going to charge us 230$ for the part and i don't have that much. Plus the dealer isn't even sure what part it is. We've tried everything. • Resolved Question: where can i find a printable Chilton's auto repair manual for a 1993 Saturn?
  • Resolved Question: Any ideas for a job?
I'm racking my brain trying to think of something, so here I am asking for ideas. I'm 23, have an AA (just generals, though), and live near the SE Metro in MN. I have 5 years experience in customer service (3 of those in retail), 4 years of computer repair and technical support experience, 2 of which were in an educational setting working on a 200-node network. I also have clerical and call center experience, some experience with coaching/tutoring, basic auto repair, programming, and am in decent enough shape that I can do some manual labor as well. My significant other is pregnant, due in January, and moving in with me very soon, so I need to figure something out ASAP. Going back to school for more than a semester is ruled out. I'll take whatever I can get right now, but by early next year I'm going to need at least $19/hr, $22+ if no medical insurance is included, between 32 and 36 hrs/wk (4 days @ 8-9 hrs), and at least 5 weeks vacation per year (unpaid is fine).

  • Resolved Question: Camera lens does not focus (Pentax Takumar), can I fix it myself?
I've purchased a camera lens (Pentax Takumar 200/f4), but it does not focus when mounted on the camera as well as the apenture blades are very slow when operating in Auto mode. If I could fix the lens focus, even with slow apenture I can operate the camera in Manual mode, but I don't know if I can fix it or I need to give it for repair. Thanks The lens is Super Takumar 200mm f4. It is a screw mount lens and it is a stop down lens for light meter, just like the 135mm 3.5. Camera is Asahi Spotmatic F. The problem is with not focusing at all, as if the lens elements are misaligned.
  • Resolved Question: Our 1997 Jeep Wrangler has the following error codes, #12 & #51. How do I fix code #12?
We determined that #51 will be fixed when we receive the new oxygen sensors in the mail today (we are approaching 100K miles soon. I'm not taking the, "I'm a girl" route here, because if I can fix the #12 code myself I'll do that. (Code #12 is "Battery power to the PCM is disconnected") I checked our auto repair manual, and I don't even know what a PCM is or where it is. It's not in the index (because our repair manual sucks), so I can't even bother to find it there. I drove the Jeep to work, which is where I am right now. Can I fix this without tools? (all I have is a screwdriver and a wrench with me) If not, will I be able to get it back home to repair? Note: I can't afford to take this to a mechanic as right now we are a 1-income household, which is why we're doing our own repairs. So please, do not tell me to take it to a shop. Thanks for your understanding and assistance!
  • Resolved Question: How do I remove the Intake Manifold to get to the back three spark plugs on my 2007 Chrysler Sebring?
I have a 2.7 V6 Flex Fuel 2007 Chrysler Sebring Touring. I bought some E3 Spark plugs to replace the originals, mainly because I wanted to mess around with the car. Now, I see the intake Manifold is covering the back 3 spark plugs, and as I am not too familiar with auto mechanics (I'm trying to get into it as a hobby) I was wondering if there were instructions/Web pages/videos/etc. I could find to help me as I might mess my engine up horribily if I try this on my own. And unfortunately, the Repair manuals I've seen online only sell them for 2005 sebrings and older. P.S. I have also had some advice that I could go "Underneath" the car to replace the back three spark plugs easier. Is this crazy talk, or is there something to this? If you could Please show/tell/explain to me how I can reach these back spark plugs I would be grateful.
  • Voting Question: Did I just get rooked for an oil change, tranny, and power steering fluid change?
$230! Granted, this was for a synthetic oil change. However, the oil change place hit me (again) with auto transmission fluid and power steering fluid change rec. So, I went for it. This is for a 2005 Chrysler T&C (caravan). I have about 77,000 miles and haven't done these changes since I bought it new in '05. In general, is this kind of stuff necessary on this kind of vehicle? Also, how hard would it be to do it myself? They said they had some sort of pump for the power steering, etc. I don't have that, but I do have a pretty good toolset, jack, etc. I've got another car (2000 SAAB 9-3) that has about 60,000 on it. So, I also want to know what I need to do on it at this time beyond the usual repairs and oil changes. It has a manual transmission. Thanks for any help!

  • Voting Question: I have no internet ? please help?
The computer was running fine when all of a sudden theres no internet connection. I tried the whole repair ip and having it set to auto. My pc tends to run better when set to manual. I can't see the network but for some odd way I can use instant messenger and thats it. I looked at internet connection properties and it says network connected but the internet icon is disabled. when clicked it says enabling but then goes away and it did nothing. Most of the time that icon isn't there. I went to internet options and looked at connection but it says I don't have a internet provider. All the other computers are connected to the internet. I got a new Ethernet card (linksys) thinking that would help but still nothing. I'm guessing it something with the internet connections not the router, modem, or drivers. Everything worked fine before. os = WinXp sp3 I hope all this info was helpful. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  • Resolved Question: What kind of brakes do I need?
I have a 1997 Ford Taurus X I got it as a gift and the brakes are shot( I know because when I hit the brakes when it's extremely cold the brakes squeal. And when I hit them regularly, they don't surpress well and the car shifts to the left, and if I hit it when I'm going really fast it will burn rubber. If anyone knows what I would need for the car and about how much it would cost me and about how long might it take at the auto repair location to have this done, I would appreciate the info. The car came with no manual and I just became fully aware of the problem as I was coming home. Thanks
  • Resolved Question: Why can't I tighten the V-belt on my Admiral / Maytag LNC6760B71 Washer?
I can't tighten the belt on this dang P.O.S. washer we bought from Homo Depot just a few short years ago. All this cheap China crap is killing the economy and the environment. Why can't anyone make something that lasts...oh yeah, then no one makes millions of dollars on service and parts rip offs, lousy extended warranties, and now they even encourage DIY repairs since no one wants to be accountable. Anyway, ....I can see where the motor slides back and forth, but if I tighten down on the nut it just squeezes the rubber insulator and doesn't actually keep it from sliding again. I'm thinking maybe this is supposed to be a spring loaded auto adusted get up? It's not like I'd expect on a Chevy alternator bracket. I can't imagine those plastic bushings could actually hold it for long. So what's the deal? I need a new spring? And then when I put on the new belt it's good to go, no adjusting? Got a service manual? http://img180.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lnc6760b71uj2.jpg
  • Resolved Question: How do you replace the suspension bushings in a 2002 Nissan Xterra - is this easy to do and is it costly?
Is this a job for a novice or do you recommend me taking it to the dealership or is this routine work for a local auto shop. My car is squeaking alot when I hit bumps so I am assuming its time for new bushings. Do you think this subject is covered in Chilton's or any other repair manuals. Thank You
  • Resolved Question: Where can i get free auto repair and wiring manuals on line?
Especially for american and jap's vehicles
  • Resolved Question: Help!!! ASAP Is there a site with free auto manual instructions and illustrations for older car.?
My daughter has a 1985 VW Cabriolet. I'm an amatuer that has done more than her share of car work/repairs over the years. Tomorrow, I'm putting an alternater on her car. Last time I put an alternater on a car, I ran into a couple of unexpected snags. I still got it done. However, it would have gone faster and easier, if I'd have known how the manuacturer assembled and installed the part in the first place. I could've used a couple of extra tools, in order to save time, frustration and elbow grease, not to mention, quite a few bumps, scrapes and bruises! LOL Don't get me wrong,a few scrapes and a little blood actually add a certain amount of excitement and exhillaration to a satisfactory job well done, when most guys tend to think you can't hack it or do it right. Yet, I don't want more bang-ups than it takes to get the job done. So, please, if you know of a free site with illustrated auto manuals, I'd appreciate the info. Otherwise, I'll wing it. Thanks!
