  • Open Question: My younger sister is the center of my parents life. Can someone help me deal with this?
For my birthday, we usually have a bbq. This year, my mom pretty much blew it off. She had me clean the house, and for my b-day dinner, none of my sisters, my father, or my family were there. It was only me, my friend, my mom and my grandmother. And when i did ask for a BBQ, I got yelled at. my mom made me cry by screaming at me how selfish I was. Then I had to go watch the golden child swim at a meet. Yet, for my sisters b-day today, she is getting a great gift, we are having a family party, she is getting a party with her friends, and she is allowed to boss me and my older sister around for the day. I'm getting to the point I don't want to be around my family anymore. Can someone give me advice on how to deal with this??? She is the center of their lives. They are now paying $2,500 for her to swim on swim team, yet I can't take $35 riding lessons because we can't afford it.

  • Open Question: will going on disability for a month after being laid off, make it hard to get another job when i am ready?
I don't understand disability benefits, seems like an option, but at the same time..also seems like a path to failure. I was recently let go from my job i had been at for 8 years due to being under extreme stress, i had spoken with my boss about my stress, was in the process of seeing a psychologist(which he knew about), and next thing i knew...i was fired. My boss told me it was because customers had complained about me, but i was the top ranked sales person my entire time of employment there, and felt i always used my best people skills, many customers would complement me through out the day on what amazing service, and come back and tell me how happy they were with their purchase, i sometimes even received small gifts...but, my co workers jealousy, combined with my boss breaking up with his girlfriend and these said complaints, and meetings being held without me being there, got me fired. Now i don't know what to do! My doc told me to take a month off before finding another job, collect disability because its more money than unemployment, but to me...both "disability" and "unemployment" sound like dirty words that will look awful when i try to find another job, and what will i do on my taxes with that income!?. I am finding it hard to relax and grieve over my loss, i want to plunge right into another job, but my stress and anxiety scares me :( Help??

  • Resolved Question: What should I do about this Jehovah's Witnesses? Thank you!?
This is going to be my first holiday season being a witness so I am confused about a few things and what I should do. At work we have a staff meeting that is mandatory for me to attend in December and there is a holiday party during it. There is gift giving and food and all that stuff. My boss wants to know what I should do about that. And honestly, I do not know. Am I able to attend and just not be involved in that? And that would be awkward for me. Also, am I able to accept gifts during the holiday season? Because my family says they are still getting me things for the holidays no matter what I say about it. They said they are also buying my daughter things too and they don't care what I say about that. Thanks for your answers!
  • Resolved Question: Broken heart and HPV. Has or is anyone in a similar situation? I need help?
I know I just posted this, but I need more answers. My boyfriend and I went out for 9 months before he broke up with me. He told me that he still loved me and was still attracted to me but that he didn't want to be in a relationship. This was the first time either of us said that we loved each other. About 2 months prior things started to go sour in our relationship. He stopped wanting to hang out with me and would make excuses as to why he shouldn't. I knew a break up was coming but I kept on telling myself it was a phase he was going through. The morning he broke up with me I also lost the job I had over the summer because I was so upset and couldn't keep my composure (my boss was a b*tch). I have spent so much money on this relationship since he has none and I have shared everything with him. He never shares what he gets with me. He recently came into some money and spent it all on himself. I don't understand why he didn't try to pay me back some of the money I spent on him. I feel like he took advantage of me. On special days he would never do anything nice for me. On my birthday he didn't even want to spend time with me or give me a gift. When I asked him to spend time with me that day he was short with me and uncaring. When I got upset he told me that was the wrong reaction to have. I had told him in advance that a card or note would be fine since I knew he couldn't afford much. After the break up I told him that if we were going to be friends that it would be up to him whether or not the friendship would work out. We're still hanging out/dating a little bit and are still having sex with each other. Because of this we came to an agreement that we can still "date" each other but that the relationship is open. I can tell that he has tried a little to make a friendship work and I appreciate it, but I want him to do more. I don't know if I love him any more, but my chest still hurts when I think about him. I know I can do so much better than him, but I feel like I am stuck. A few months ago we found out that I have HPV, and automatically so does he. It is one of the strands that can give you cancer and they have found some cancer cells in my cervix. I don't feel like I can have a relationship with someone else until I get better. Luckily I am at a low risk for cancer, but I know that that can change at any moment. It is hard for me to understand why he didn't try harder to make the relationship work since we are going through this. Neither of us can have sexual contact with people other than each other. I feel like I can't truly get closure from him until I hear him apologize for all that he has put me through. I haven't even mentioned everything that has happened because it would take too long. I also want him to admit to me that he is selfish, self-centered, and afraid of commitment but he has too much pride to be able to do that. I don't know what I should do. I want so badly to be in a true relationship with him again, but I know it would be a bad idea. Given the circumstances, what can I do? I don't know when or if I am going to get rid of the HPV. It generally takes about 2 years to clear up and I don't know how long he or I have had it for. I don't want to be alone for such a long period of time. Please help me. What can I do to make him want a relationship with me again?

  • Open Question: What is a good religious apology gift I could get for my (former) boss??
I walked out on my job Monday (LONG story) but there were difficulties with my boss. By the following Wednesday I felt that I had cooled off enough to go back and have a calm and orderly conversation with her which just couldn't happen at the time because we were both furious. Anyway, on Wednesday we both exchanged apologies and she admitted she was wrong and I admitted I was wrong but I would like to buy her a little something (religious) that symbolizes a new beginning. She is the boss of a Christian preschool that's why I would like it to be a religious gift. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thank you!!
  • Resolved Question: Read please, and tell me what you think??
I kno it has its issies but i would be very happy if you would please read this and give me your opinion. much appreciated. Elita trudged through the city streets miserably. She had lost her job, her home, and her dog all within the past twenty-four hours, and even though she tried to remember, she couldn‘t figure out why she had even crawled her way into work this morning to begin with. Thinking back, she probably would have chose against it had she known that today was the day she was going to give her boss his fill, and ultimately loose her job for her incompetence. The loosing of her home was a different story. For weeks she had been telling herself that she would eventually scrape up enough money to pay those high, menacing towers of bills that sat on her kitchen counter; they served as her constant reminders of the hole she had dug herself into since moving to Chicago. Sadly, shortly after being evicted from her dusty apartment, she had lost her only companion for the past two years, her dog Russ. Rain poured from the lightning streaked sky over head, and soaked her to the bone. She wanted desperately to go home and change into warm clothes, but a quick thought reminded her that she, in fact, no longer had a so called “home”. Elita looked up and down the empty street trying to remember where she had parked her red 1991 Chevy Cavalier. After a few minutes, she gave up, and sat on a park bench. Curling her legs up to her chest, she buried her face into her knees and cried, her tangled brown hair falling in a cascade over her shoulders. Her world was crashing around her making everything unbearable. She didn’t know where to go from here. A friends house was out of the question since she hadn’t gotten around to making friends in Chicago yet; work was much more important to her. Local homeless shelters were out of the question as well, for her pride would not allow her to even admit that she was now, by her own standards, homeless. *** Keagan sat in the darkest corner of his favorite bar, The Loft, swishing around the liquid gold in his shot glass of whiskey. His mind was littered with thoughts that he wanted so badly to burn away, but he couldn’t bring himself to take a sip of his usual numbing medicine. Had it really been fifty years since his transformation? It seemed like only yesterday when the accident occurred and the Dark Gift was forced upon him, but maybe that was just a side effect of his new, unfailing and all too accurate memory. He saw it all clearly, and felt the centuries old pain again, but it was only momentary. He saw his makers face, bright and lustrous in the moonlight as she looked at his mangled body on the ground. Her eyes had a strange desire in their depths as she stared at Keagan. “Poor thing.” she muttered. She cradled Keagan’s head in her lap and placed her ear to his chest. The normally loud thud-thud of all human hearts was slowly being dulled. The woman knew what she had to do. She lowered her head down to Keagan’s neck. “Stay still. This will hurt at first, but not for long” As she sank her fangs into his soft skin, Keagan gasped for a moment, but soon went still. The sudden wave of realization flooded over him as he realized what this beautiful stranger was. A vampire. He felt his already struggling heart began to weaken even more. His vision was fading, and his weakness was growing more and more prominent. Lifting her head from his neck, the woman put her own wrist up to her fangs and slid them across her skin, leaving a bright red line of blood dribbling from the gash. “Drink if you wish to live.” she said while pressing her wrist to his lips. Keagan was hesitant. Should he drink a strangers blood? Let alone, any blood at all? Was his life really that important to him? She pressed her wrist against his lips again, more fervent this time. “You are going to die anyway, Keagan. At least this way, you can live in the end.” A snap decision made him do what he knew he wanted her to. Pressing his lips to her open wound, Keagan hesitantly drew her blood into his mouth. The taste didn’t repulse him, surprisingly. In fact, it did quiet the opposite. He swallowed gulp after gulp of her blood until she had to forcibly remove his grip from her arm, and pull her wrist from his lips. “That’s quiet enough.” A quick flick of her tongue over the gash made it seal itself. She laid Keagan’s head back on the ground slowly, and stood to look at the wreckage. A few yards away was a truck plowed head first into a tree off to the side of the road. There was no doubt that it was totaled. “You really almost did yourself in, Keagan. Had I not been near by, your final moments on this God forsaken eart it didnt copy all of it, srri, thats all you get to read i guess. Yea, i realize vampires are overdone but i never tire of them and i have alwayz wanted to write my own vampire story.
  • Open Question: Gift for a pregnant boss?
I just found out my boss at work is 6-months pregnant. (Don't ask. And no, I'm not very observant. And yes ladies, I'm just another "typical guy".) I've been working full-time for 2 summers, and part-time for the schoolyear. Tomorrow is my last day working for her. Now, what gift should I get her? / Should I get her a gift? Maybe a card? "Congratulations on having a baby in 3 months" card? *Keep in mind that the only stores nearby are: Dollar store, groccery store, and gas station. JC Penny? We've got a Wal-mart nearly 2 hours away by bus. There's no uniform; it's a techie job.
  • Resolved Question: a collection of my thoughts on women anymore from you lot ?
"She wears these false eyelashes. She left 'em lying around and I slammed 'em with my newspaper, tried to kill the damn things. Scared me half to death." "My wife's allergic to everything. Her nose is chronically stuffed. If I kissed her on the mouth, she'd suffocate." "She has an uncanny way of standing between me and the television screen. Bases loaded, two strikes, three balls. The crowd goes wild, the pitch flies, and all I can see is her butt." "She was furious when I got up early once and made her breakfast. Called me controlling. How dare I decide that she would eat breakfast, let alone what she'd have?" "What's mine is hers. I buy her negligees; she sleeps in my T-shirts. When she's cold she wears my wool socks to bed, never her own. She steals my half- used razors; new ones are too sharp. She even wears my boxers. I'm tempted to switch to briefs just to see what she'd do." "She makes lists. Things to buy. Things to do. People to call. If it's not on the list, it doesn't get done. Once, to be funny, I put "sex" on the list. Mistake. Now it has to be on the list or it doesn't get done." "When she gets an idea in her head, there's no stopping her. And no rest for anyone until it's done. It's not so bad when the idea is to bake cookies, or even to go on vacation. But when it's to build a new house, or to get pregnant, things get pretty intense. "Every so often boom she's a brunette. Or I come home to a redhead. Actually, I have no idea what her natural color is. "She'll brush her teeth but she won't go to the dentist. She says she's not afraid of the pain, she just doesn't want to put herself in the hands of any fellow who'd choose to be a dentist. "She's stopped shaving her legs. She says that now people will know she's a natural blonde." "In bed I'm her high school teacher, captain of the football team, her boss, the bad boy, a waiter, a lifeguard, a telephone repairman, a cop. Once in a while I'd like to be me." "She takes those soaps too seriously. I'll come home and find her in tears because some character died. Or upset that some nonexistent guy's having a fictional affair." . "She will not shop at discount stores or sales. She thinks they're crowded and plebeian. She doesn't even look at the reduced rack, other than, perhaps, for gifts for my mother."
  • Voting Question: Does She Really Love Me? Am I Missing Something?
Girl worked for my family. She was 14 when I met her I was 19. I was her boss. She immediately seemed like she had a crush on me. My parents joked she had a crush on me. She told me she loved me a few times, asked me out a ton of times, she always tried to touch me. So I work with her for three years. I go back for my senior year of college, she pleads with me to stay in contact with her. I refuse. I did like her but the crazy circumstances always told me to stay away. I ad her to facebook that december. Immediately as soon as I add her, her status is that she is of the age of consent in my state. She had told me that she was the age of consent for a few years and I would roll my eyes at her. I felt bad tried to apologize initially feeling bad. Then I got pissed wrote her this crazy letter, kinda of freaked her out with facebook messages. She bans me from her facebook and blocks me from IM. I told my mom a week later I fucked with her, I didn't say my original intention was to try and apologize. My mom was disappointed but said nothing after that. She ends up working so my parents can go away and be at my graduation. The day I come back home I go to the store after buying myself a graduation gift, who is there staring at me. I ignore her. She doesn't work for us that summer. She comes back two months later at the end of the summer I ignore her, next day she comes and talks to my mom. Year goes by. My family becomes multi millionaires with a business deal that was in the local paper, I get rescued out of the ocean by the coast guard I almost died. Summer begins who comes in and tries to say Hi to me. I ignore her. After that she came in almost every day for two weeks. Stopped coming in for a month and then came in a month to the day later and came in every day for two weeks till she left for college. I am pretty sure she has called the store for me more than a few times. I get hang ups at the store a couple of times a day. Coincidentally her friend has started coming in our store without this girl, never mentions her, but knows about the whole situation. She seems to come in during these spans that this girl has come in. I am exceptionally nice to this girl but completely ignore her weirdo stalker friend. Is she stalking me? Whats weird is she has talked to my mom a few times this summer, my mom said nothing to me, I always say hi to this girls mom. Her mom has said nothing to me. She seems like a descent girl on from what I know about her.

  • Voting Question: My boss hates me now - what should I do?
Here's the scoop. I've been working for this person for over two years. We are friendly to one another - she tells me stuff going on in her life, I do the same, but nothing too personal. During this two years she experienced a miscarriage and I was supportive to her. In her next pregnancy she had a scare from one of the tests that would have been a death sentence to the baby if he was born with the genetic defect, but it turned out to be negative and I was there for that. I was invited to her baby shower, which I was not going to go to but was going to send a gift. Then she was telling me that this was the only baby shower she would probably ever have and she wanted as many people there as posible and she had a cousin that wasn't going to come and she called her up and demanded an explanation, etc. - the cousin came to the shower and so did I! When my son graduated this June, I invited her and her husband and baby to come to the party. I had talked about her to my family and friends and said how cute the baby was and I wanted them to meet my family and vice versa. Okay, fast forward to August. Her son is turning one and she sent out invitations to over 30 people to come to the party, including my family. Now I had my schedule for the week, so I knew what work I was going to have. By Tuesday, I was exhausted. I'm a pet sitter and had been hit in the head by a piece of wood I was trying to wrestle away from a dog, got a giant scratch on my leg from a puppy with sharp nails, and had a rottwieler chew on my arm. On Wednesday, I had a lot of running around to do in addition to working and I still had the rest of the week to go including working on the weekend. I was supposed to rsvp by Wednesday and completely forgot, so she sent me an email saying she had to order the food the next day and needed to know. I told her that I was sorry that we would not be able to make it. I didn't give any reasons or excuses. Ever since then, she has been very cold to me. If she sends me an email, it's all business with as few words as possible. No "hi", no "stay cool", no nothing. I know it is because I didn't go to her baby's party, but honestly he will never know! She has other friends that she invited, and cousins too. Do you think I should apologize to her for hurting her feelings by not going to the party? I was so tired already and had to work on the day of the party and the day after. I also needed to spend some time with my family and get some laundry done. I could have gone, yes, but I don't really know anyone there except her and didn't want to give up two hours or more of one of the last Sunday's of summer to sit around with people I don't know. I was going to get a gift for the baby and drop it off when I saw her the Friday before, but she left my paycheck outside and told me she would not be home. Should I still get a gift for him?
  • Resolved Question: Poll: Is this an appropriate birthday gift for my boss .... ?
I'm thinking either assless chaps or a hookah? They are both great gifts but I can only afford to buy one. Thank you ever so much for your thoughtful, articulate, and helpful answers.
  • Resolved Question: Appropriate birthday gift for your boss?
I am a receptionist for a small wealth management firm and I need some advice. It's my boss's birthday on Labor Day and I really don't know what would be an appropriate gift. I want to get him a little something, because he's been quite helpful to me since I've started here (I've been here about 5 months). He's maybe in his mid 60's, conservative, seems to have everything! I don't want to seem like a pushover either. Any suggestions as to what would be appropriate?
  • Resolved Question: Bridezilla...don't tell me to drop out because I'm her only friend....?
I am a MOH in my friend's wedding. She's always been the one with the attitude which is why I'm her only friend and none of her female cousins are attending the wedding and she has no sisters, so I can't really drop out. I thought at first it was stress, but then it started to get worse and worse. For example, last night my 1 1/2 year old was sick, I couldn't make it to show how I looked in my dress because my husband was working and I didn't want my older children to catch the cold. I called my friend and said "Listen, my 1 year old is sick, I can't come to show you how I look in my dress, I'm sorry. Can we do it tomorrow?" and my friend yelled "NO! You're making that up! I bet you gained weight and that's why!" I just polietly said "I'll call you later." Now today, I go to show her my dress. And yes I have added a couple of pounds because I recently gave birth to twins, but I went and got alterations done two days ago. My friend takes one look at me and says "Wow, I'm glad you begged me to come over because that dress is not going to go with your fat body." I stood there, eyes wide. Her mother(who was there because she also wanted to show off her dress)said "Kyla, it looks fine." And Kyla said "No, she looks fat. So, Gab, you'll need to buy a new dress." I told her no way, if she seriously thought I looked fat, she could buy the new dress. Finally, after a big fight, we agreed on me getting a sash to cover my "bulging stomach". This isn't the only thing she's done. When I was about to give birth to my twins she called me and told me to go pick up the bubbles for the reception! I told her "I'm in labor! I'll ask my husband to get them." and as I closed the phone I could hear her saying "You little b-". Oh and let's not forget the hair. I have short boyish blond hair, so it's been an issue with my hair. Kyla asks me if I want a wig, I said no, I'm good with my short hair, we can just pin my bangs back. Then the next time we see each other, she shows me a wig she bought that's styled the way she wants my hair to look like and is insisting I wear it to the wedding. Finally I gave in, but I'm really, really mad. Her bridal shower is this weekend and I've put about $650 into it just to make her happy. She told me that if it isn't how she likes it, she'll leave. She's also put on her invatations: We prefer money instead of gifts thank you. No joke! I was so shocked. Everyone's talked to her, but nothing works. The wedding is in two weeks and I can't drop out now, but what should I do in the mean time. Everytime I talk to her she says "It's my day, I can boss you around and be stressed." Yes, it's her day, but she doesn't have to be a Bridezilla! HELP! I'm not backing out. She's 29 years old. I know why I'm her only friend and trust me, she won't even have me after the wedding if she doesn't stop being such a Bridezilla. I'm not a doormat. I'm just not going to back out of a commitment I made. If it was any earlier in the wedding I would back out as fast as I could, but just two weeks before the wedding isn't right. Plus I already bought the dress and paid for everything.

  • Resolved Question: What do you think about my co-worker!?
My co-worker and I sit very close together in an office. I have been at this job over a year now. I have been very nice to her she is older than I however I am not that young either. The problem is; at times she is very nice she brings me small gifts at different times of the year. On the other hand, she has done very mean things like replacing my office chair with her chair. The first time she did that, I let her just keep it and I took the old one then another employee left and I asked for her chair and got it then a week later, my co worker was sitting in it. She also says mean things when I have difficult problem or have a hectic day. My co-worker also tells things on me that she overhears in the office while speaking to my boss "Small Office" she tells them to the other employee's and she never tell anything about herself. I don't even know where she lives. One time, she had a friend of hers call me that works for another agency and tell me that I should apply where she works? Anyone have any thoughts!

  • Resolved Question: What is a good wedding gift for my boss?
A bunch of us here at work wanted to get him a wedding gift. He already has a house so I don't think things like appliances are very good.
  • Resolved Question: Should we give a wedding gift?
Here's a little back info.....My husband works in an office and the office manager's daughter is getting married. He is not friendly with the office manager, and only just met the daughter (who has been working in the office for the past 6-8 weeks). We already declined attending the wedding, should we still buy a gift? Oh, and btw, the office manager also invited us to her other daugher's graduation party (we did not attend and did not give a gift....we never met the daughter). and we just attended the office manager's son's engagement party. We bought him a gift and went b/c my husband has been workinig with him for over 2 years. It just seems to us that the office manager is looking for gifts for her kids. all 3 parties were within an 8 week span of time. and i don't know if this matters or not, but the office manager is the boss's sister. Thanks to everyone for your input. sorry, my husband has only been working with the bride for the past 2 weeks....the invitation was mailed out before she started working in the office.
  • Resolved Question: I'm looking for suggestions of a gift for my two bosses and colleagues after a summer internship?
I am just finishing up a summer internship at a prestigious wealth management firm. I am the intern for a financial advising group of five and want to show my gratitude for granting me this opportunity. There are 3 female sales assistants ranging from there early 20s to early 30s. One of the financial advisers is female and in her low 30s and the other is male in his late 40s. Any ideas on an appropriate and thoughtful gift? I’m especially having trouble with the older financial advisers (because they have so much money I don’t want to give them a gift with solely a monetary value). I am already planning on writing handwritten cards for each of them. For the sales assistants, I was thinking a Starbucks gift card, a candle, flowers, or those philosophy body washes. I am also still underage--so I ruled out wine or scotch. Please let me know any specific or broad suggestions. Thanks! Thanks for all the suggestions--I agree I don't think a gift is really necessary. That is why I was thinking something very small. I think I'm going to buy a small box of gourmet chocolates. Food is super casual.
  • Resolved Question: Is it appropriate to give a wedding gift?
I work in a small office and for the last couple of months, have worked with my boss and one other person. My boss is getting married and having a large wedding, and he often speaks about his plans. I was a little surprised not to be invited to his wedding (I don't know his fiancee) but I am not upset, and wish them well. Is it appropriate to get a gift, or a card, or both, for someone who has not invited you?

  • Resolved Question: Should I write a thank you card?
My boss gave me a card on Friday that said, "Congratulations on receiving your CDA. Job well done!" And gave me a check in the card for $150.06. Thing is nothing was said to me either way so I don't know if I've been given a raise for my new degree and that was just back-pay for it since I'd gotten it the beginning of July or if it was just a one time bonus. I don't think it was a gift because I've never gotten a gift with 6 cents attached at the end. So should I just say in the thank you card thank you for your thoughtful congratulations, you appreciation has been noted and not mention to money at all? We're a small company of less than 20 employees and my boss does payroll personally so she wrote out the check herself (well, typed it) and included it in her hand-written card. I think I'll wait til payday on Monday to see if it's a raise or a gift and then write a thank you depending on the circumstances.
  • Resolved Question: Serious accusations, please help!?
I was called into a 'confrence' with my horrible boss and a man named Jim, who supposedly works with loss prevention. They start by asking me if I know the World MArket employee discount policies, I respond with a"Yes, only immidiate family and I can use it," he then corrects me and says only immeidate family that lives with you can use it. So I then assume this confrence is about the fact that I let my friend use my discount card several times. They ask me if I remember some certain purchases, I remember some of them, Jim then asks me to tell him how these purchases were paid for, I then realise they were paid with a WM gift card. He then says that a miss Destiny Norman(my firend) had recently returned some itmes that hadn't been sold, in Tucson, this year.... Ok? He then accuses her of stealing these items, returning them for stor credit, and then using it with my employee discount card. I tell him she would never do such a thing, and that if these items have been stolen(I didnt know what these items were yet) that I did not know. He starts throwing accusations at me, indirectly calling me a liar, telling me to confess otherwise they'll have to bring the authorities into it. They even claim to have contacted 'miss Mornan', and have already recieved a statement from here, directly after he says this, he says he'll need me to confess by the end of the day or they'll take legal action. By this time I'm sobbing and I refuse to listen to them, I know my friend would never do such a thing, she'd never steal, and she'd never lie and accuse me of stealing, so I demand they let me speak to her, they don't. Well, I speak to her late that night, she's infuriated. She tells me there's no way in hell they could have contacted her, because she specifically gave them the wrong number on the return slip(the return slip asks for you address, name,DL# and phone#) so that they wouldn't call her to advertise. So, they lied to me to get me to accuse her of something she didn't do. Or to get me to confess to something I can't confess to. They also lied when they said these items had not been soled in Tucson, this year, because when I finally realised what one of the items were, I recall selling that very item no less than amonth ago in my store. My family wants me to hire a civil lawyer, and my friend is willing to take this to court as well. The ONLY problem is, I do not have receipts to either of these items, the item that belonged to me, I've owned for nearly a year, the item that belonged to my friend, she got as ahouse warming gift when she moved into her 1st apartment, a year ago. What should I do, and CAN they actually DO anything to me? They fired me, obviously, but I wouldn't go back to work for them even if I did get this cleared up, or if I did sue. I don't however, want my work history to be ruined. Please help!!! Also, would my lack of receipt prevent me from getting a settlement if I sued? Smutty, that makes lots of sense, and it's the best answer yet, if it weren't for the fact that I was living with her(I have proof of this) during the time of these purchases. I had broken up with my boyfriend, needed a place to stay. And the sole reason why we returned these things to buy other things, was because I had no money to give her for rent or food. So that's what we bought, food and dishes. It was her card, but many of the items were for me, for the house. Does this not matter now?

  • Resolved Question: Since we've hit a lull? Commercial Tracks that should've been murdered by real lyricist?
I am not a huge fan of commericial rap, but due to their budget they are able to produce some stellar tracks. some even have nice hooks. But the artist ruins it for me cause they can't rap and stay on topic. Now imagine if superior wordsmith murdered those tracks and those tracks got radio play. Let's begin. Shawty Lo-Dey Know: Song has a good beat but the rappers on there besides Luda blotched things up. Keep Luda, replace weezy,Jeezy, Shawty Lo with Gift o Gab, Lyrics Born, and Celph Titled. now thats hot. Lil Wayne featuring T-Pain-GOT MONEY: The beat is soo hot that its a hit no matter who raps over it. Replace weezy with GhostFace and you can even keep T-Pain there and its thermonuclear!! LilWayne-Milli: Wayne ruined this beat. This beat has Talib Kweli written all over it. Talib would've killed it! Kanye West-The Good Life: Keep the R&B vocals and replace West with Common Kanye West -Can't tell me nothing: Sean Price would've smashed this song. T.I.-What you know: I love this beat but TI can't deliver Jay-Z would have smashed this. RickRoss-Boss: giving this beat to Ross is like giving your Timberlands to a mule. da'am if he knows what to do with it. I Smell a Rae & Ghost collabo. What do y'all think? RedLabel....It's all good! I really like the Amilli beat, but Lil' Wayne is a turd.

  • Voting Question: Can they really hold my check?
I was recently employed as a waitress at a small restaurant near my home town. When I was hired, I was given an apron. I saw people wearing Hamburger Haven shirts (the name of the restaurant) and asked if I could have one. My boss said yes, if she could find one. One day, she brought in the shirt for me. I assumed it was a gift. After I quit, I asked my boyfriend to pick up my check. My boss and fellow employees had seen him before and knew who he was. They proceeded to tell him that I could not have my check until I returned my apron and shirt. My boss knew that I was moving and that things were packed away. I had to borrow her apron many times for work. There was no set uniform there. I didn't even have to wear the apron if I didn't want to. She said she is holding my check until I return the shirt and apron. I found my apron, but there is no way I can find the shirt any time soon. Can she really hold my check since the shirt was a gift and not part of my uniform?

  • Voting Question: STEALING ILLEGAL or LEGAL?
hello i have a scenario i want u guys to tell me what the case is. Now I'm going to college in about 2 weeks. And i told my mother to ask her social workers agency for us if they knew any resources to get my a laptop for college. she said yes should would. so she goes and ask her social worker and she runs it to her boss. Her boss says he'll look into things. I remind my mother to call him and ask the status daily. She does and today he says the voucher would take too long so instead he orders my a laptop (nice guy i know) so the social worker tells my mom the news and I'm happy as hell. (mind u the boss of the social worker could lose his job for personally buying me a laptop for me. Now my mom is threaten to take the laptop for herself. Now my questions are.. 1.can she legally take a lap top thats being sent as gift to me for college? 2.If i was to call the cops and tell them she took my laptop that was sent to me from her social workers boss from request would she have to give it back? 3. If she was to take it and give it back to the guy who purchased it for me. Would that be legal or would that still qualify as my item and an act of stealing since it was bought for me unconditionally as a gift? ty and please help me answe these questions. and mind u think of the legality of the issue.. dont bring your "personal feelings into this please" this about law not moral tyvm :) hey g.. he paid for it with His own money because he knew the voucher wouldnt kick in in time.. thus the voucher no longer being needed. when i said he can lose his job i mean he can lose his job because of job restrictions from personal engagement with clients..
  • Resolved Question: How good is my short story? Please rate out of 10 and give suggestions
The people of the tribe had long had a symbolic and harmonious connection with the land for it gave them food and sheltered them. Life was great for them and they were blissfully unaware of the troubles and corruption of western civilisation. They were also blissfully unaware of what would happen to them. The man tossed and turned in his queen sized bed in his queen sized house. He could not sleep. I cannot fail… and will not fail. As CEO of the largest company in the world you would think money would be the least of his problems. Wrong. A geographer, translator and plant expert had just failed their mission from headquarters. They must go to another tribe they agreed and continued to plough they’re way through the Amazon in the land rover. It was the second day of her new job and already she had formed an instant dislike for her new boss. After having to give up volunteering at a recycling plant and various other environmental community service after the death of her husband, she was still getting over the shock she had received on her first day. Of course the advertisement did not mention that she would be working for a logging company. After all she was extremely passionate about the environment. “Your late!’ he screamed, banging his fist on his mahogany desk. “Sorry sir replied the woman. The man hadn’t learnt to treat his personal assistants properly, even after having 30 of them. “Well maybe if you didn’t ride that wretched bicycle to work and got a lift in my hummer you wouldn’t be”. The man loved his new gas guzzling car he was even willing to share it. “Now, have you got any ideas on how we can solve our problem with natives not signing over their land in the Amazon, I have huge corporate clients breathing down my neck here about reaching this years quota”. “No sir she whimpered as she backed towards the door slowly. “Well put yourself to some use and get me a cup of coffee” he ordered. “Yes sir” she replied. The group was tired after their 300 mile drive through the amazon. They knew they were close now as they could hear the bang of drums along with cheering. With a boot full of food and a contract for the natives to sign they knew what they had to do. They were quite experienced at their job by now – going from tribe to tribe conning the natives into signing they’re territory away for logging rights. After all, rainforests (especially Amazonian ones) produce some very expensive and sought after products. And, when the land is clear it can be used for crops and grazing animals as the soil is rich in nutrients. The natives raised their spears and arrows at the strangely coloured men as they pulled closer in a just as strange contraption. “Don’t fire!” yelled the translator in their native dialect, we come in peace and have gifts of peacekeeping” he continued. The natives accepted the gifts of food straight away, grabbed hold of them and took them to their leader. The translator explained politely to the leader about the offerings. “Do you want more?” asked the translator. “Because there is plenty more where we come from”. “Yes! Yes!” exclaimed the leader. “Well, said the translator “We need a small favour that I’m sure you will be able to give us”. The leader quietly listened. “Could we please cut down a few trees for we need them to build our houses among other things? In exchange we will give you all the food in our truck over there. Agreed?”. “Yes! Yes!” exclaimed the leader as he leapt up and hugged the men in agreement. The man sighed in relief and smiled greedily at the great news he had just received from the Amazon. The woman entered. “I’m taking the afternoon off” he said whilst taking off his tie. “Clean up my desk” he ordered as he exited the room. The woman got straight to work but could not help herself to the papers on the man’s desk. She gasped and almost fainted while muttering ‘1, 000, 000 hectares of Amazon?!” The apocalypse was here they thought hearing the roaring nearby. People yelled and screamed as one by one trees fell like dominoes. “They only said a few trees” exclaimed the leader. What had he done?! They ran and ran until there was nowhere left to go. They were left with a barren, desert like landscape. A huge depression swept over the natives. They had lost the one thing they had valued most. If this landscape wasn’t hell, it certainly looked like it. Over the next few months many lost the will to live. The woman wept and wept in front of her TV as images of deforestation in the Amazon played in front of her. Thoughts of realisation swept through her mind. The world is so corrupt these days with money and greed she thought. Cutting down beautiful rainforests and depriving natives only for money. However it was only then that it hit her – she had been corrupted as well. Working at a logging company… for money!?. What a sick world she said to herself as she switched off her TV, walked out onto her 21st floor balcony and jumped.
  • Resolved Question: are chocolates too cliche as a thank you gift at work?
I'm a summer intern at a wonderful company and I wanted to thank my boss for a great experience (ending in a few weeks). I'm thinking of getting her a box of Godiva chocolates, but i need to know: is giving a box of chocolates too cliche? I think Godiva chocolates are great but I don't want her to think I didn't put any thought into what to get her. Any thoughts? How would you feel if you got a box of chocolates from an intern at work?
  • Resolved Question: How do I start a small internet gift basket making business?
Hi! Lately for work, I've been making themed gift baskets to give as prizes. Everyone who I've given them to, along with my boss, says they're very well done, and that I have a real knack for it. I am very much a type B person. I love making the baskets, shopping for them, putting them together so much that I want to start a small, home-based business... you know, put up a website and start selling them online. The thing is, I have no money set aside and no idea on how to go about starting a website. I don't know the first step on starting something like this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :-) Thank you!
  • Voting Question: I think im...!!!!!!! PLZ help!!!!!
Hi, i recently found my gift, it fills my life with joy and hands me the knowledge that only i can obtain...through my naturally born tallent. I have concluded that due to these three occurances.....im psychic. The first one is that i woke up last sunday and i knew that the paper wont be delivered that morning. The second is that yesterday, i woke up and i knew that i would eat breakfast that morning. The last event is the one that seals the deal. I got out of bed today and i had a feeling that i would drink water after returning from my morning run, and i did. These three all happened in the same week and obviously give strong evidence that i have psychic powers. Could i get a job at a psychic hotline or something? How much would i get an hour? Oh, and do you believe that this is fare? I told my hubby im psychic and he kicked me out with my three children cuz they "resembled" me, i lost my job at wal-mart when my boss saw me telling the costumer their future. (it just so happened that their future was to die that same morning), and my friend kicked me out too when she found out and i have no place to go so i really need the hotline job. PLZ help? Do you think that i have extrordinary powers?
