Open Question: Vauxhall Zafira total loss of power/speed whilst motorway driving?
I have a 1.6,W reg (2000),petrol,vauxhall zafira that completely loses power & speed whilst cruising.
It has happened twice on the motorway,it just starts losing speed even with foot to the floor on the accelerator,(easing up on the accelerator makes no difference)& the car comes to a complete standstill.
The engine does not cut out & the engine management light flickers on & off.
After 20-30 seconds idling power comes back but the same thing happens again within a few minutes whatever speed you travel at.
Its been plugged into a computer several times & had a sensor replaced.
It's been to an independant garage & vauxhall who said the problem was a contaminated fuel tank caused by paper from a fuel filter being fitted the wrong way round.So it was taken apart & drained/cleaned.
We've paid £550 so far & the problem seemed fixed until the same thing happened again on the motorway.
Not sure if its relevant or connected but my husband thinks the rpm's seem low too.
Has anyone had the same or similar problem or does anyone know or have any idea's whats wrong?

You see them on T.V. all the time! Tom Cruises kid, Leah Reminis (sic?) kid, etc...And now I am babysitting my sisters best friends kid, and SHE is two and still on a bottle!! Thanks, everyone! I am sort of seeing the "other side" of the debate now. I still don't think that a healthy, well developed child should be on a bottle after 12 or 13 months, but there are obviously some situations that it is okay. (For example, the 4 year old who passed from leukemia, Bless her and her family) or other rare situations. I DO NOT agree though, with the person who said that a 2+ child has a need to suck. I have 4 of my own, and am the proud aunt of 7 nieces and nephews, so I feel that I do know a little about babies.

I am 6 months. I do have a cut from shaving on that same ankle, and I thought the swelling may of been from that but after propping my feet up the swelling went down, not completely but a lot.

I came on here because I wanted some people outside of the situation to give their thoughts and opinions on what is going on. I am 21 and my ex-girlfriend is 22.
I was in a relationship that lasted for 10 months, we hooked up last Oct. at my university and we were great together, not perfect but we complemented each other well. There was only one problem - she lived in VA, I lived in IN and she was graduating and going to graduate school in VA. For the most part, it went well during the school year, but as the summer approached she began asking whether or not we should break up. I felt that we shouldn't jump into conclusions and try it for a while. If things looked to be going downhill, then we should break up. if things were fine and we were happy together, then we shouldn't break up.
As the summer progressed, things were going well, nothing really changed. She came out to visit me during the end of June and beginning of July and it was a lot of fun. However, a few weeks after she left, she brought up the question, "Is this relationship stressful?" No, I replied, things are just fine, I have no problems. She began to say that she felt the distance was to great for us and that we should think about breaking up. I was pretty shocked by this because it came out of the blue.
I went out there a few weeks later and one night we were on a cruise and she made the comment I m sure you'll make some girl happy. No mention of us, just some girl. This had never really happened before, mostly it was our future. I asked her the next day, and she announced to me that we were going to break up gradually. This caused some distress for me, where was the discussion. She reassured me it would be the easiest break up ever and we were going to be good friends. After grad school was over for her ( i would be out of school by then), we could hook up again. The week went on and I still enjoyed the time, but began to notice her start thinking of what she wanted and not about my side.
After I got home, we still talked to each other at least every other day or so, and things went downhill. She would announce one night we should break up now, then change her mind. It was constant indecision that drove me into a semi-depression. I started losing respect for her based on the fact that she couldn't make up her mind. I know it sounds a bit harsh, but I would have been happier if she said "I want to break up with you, because the distance is to far but we can be friends." but when it goes back and forth, you start to feel the relationship is becoming chaotic.
We broke up last Thurs. when she asked if it was okay for her us to break up (and change our facebook status). I gave it a thought and realized I was tired of the back and forth-ness and I really didn't want to go through it anymore. I never told her this part, but I agreed to break up and still remain on terms of friends.
As time has progressed, she has been hanging out with other guys that I feel she is trying to date. But the scenario that really bugged me was this, her ex-boyfriend told her two weeks ago that his grandfather was dying from cancer. My ex was invariably saddened by this news because she loved her ex-boyfriends' grandfather (she said he was a very nice man). Anyways this past weekend she ran into him and she was very upset, because she had been trying to see his grandfather and his family wouldn't let her. Lots of emotion, crying, what have you...and in the midst of this emotional tide- she asked him for a one night stand. She told me this story as if it were funny, because her ex-boyfriend declined and he IM'd her back earlier today saying she was obsessed with him. She replied "no, i was just caught in the moment."
But to me, it wasn't funny....it hurt. I understand we all have irrational moments when we are down, but we are still held accountable for them. That is what being an adult is all about. I haven't told her that I am really quickly feeling that she has completely changed, has become untrustworthy and someone that is doing more harm than good to me right now, but I'm not sure if I am overreacting (because I do feel slightly depressed) or if I am correct in what I am thinking of cutting ties - for a while at least.
I apologize for the length of this article but I felt in order to comprehend of what I was feeling, I needed to tell the story. If you have any advice, I will greatly appreciate it.

Six years ago I was working on Wall Street as a stock broker. It was a fast paced life, but I was single and loved it. I shared an apartment with my sister and our cat, and we had a lot of fun living in New York City. There was a really cute guy I kept seeing on the Stock Exchange floor, and I really wanted to meet him. My friend Linda knew him from college (they had both gone to Stanford), so I talked her into introducing us. If only I had known what that would lead to, I might have reconsidered………………
We had a whirlwind courtship and married 6 months after being formally introduced. We decided to get married on a cruise ship, and it was a beautiful, romantic setting surrounded by the people we care about. We had wanted a June wedding, but the ship was booked, so we opted for September, which was pretty hot, but we didn’t have any options. I was madly in love with Tom, my new husband, and he seemed to feel the same. We agreed I would work until we had children, then I would stay home and be a mommy. It seemed like such a beautiful arrangement. I really trusted this man!!!
Now I find myself 6 months pregnant. I just went for an ultrasound last Thursday and the technician tells me I’m having a girl. I don’t think I’ll do the nursery in the typical pink and white. I’m leaning toward blue and brown even thought it’s a girl. My ankles are swollen; my body is swollen; I even feel like my eyeballs are swollen. My husband SAYS he still finds me beautiful, but I’m not so sure.

I had found a fabulous set of golf clubs for my husband, something I knew he would really love, and had hidden them downstairs in our basement storage closet. Because of their size I was unable to wrap them in such a way as to conceal their identity, so I warned my husband not to go into that closet under any circumstances. I was in the laundry room a few days ago, and I saw my husband tiptoe to the closet, open the door and peek at his gift, then quietly close the door and go back upstairs.

I've put on some weight and while I'm working on losing it, I have a cruise coming up in a month. Other than Lane Bryant or Avenues, what are some stores or online sites that sell nice, classy clothes and swimsuits for size 14 and up? I've tried just buying clothes in larger sizes, but it seems like a lot of places make the clothes for a size 6 and when it gets to a large size, it just doesn't fit right.
Also, does anyone have recommendations for swimsuits that are good for "excessively curvy" women? I'm not huge, the curves are all over, and I'd like some type that reduced the bust and hides the "muffin top".

I had this dream, last night. I was with family and some friends, and we were lost. We walked by this house, and these crazy hillbillies came at us, thinking we were trespassing, which I think we were. So we basically fought to the death. He came at me with a knife, and I had the mentality of an MMA (UFC) fighter. (I do train in MMA) I fought him off, and stabbed him multiple times but he wouldn't die. Them we left to a forest type place. And I found a cell phone on the floor. We made it to a freeway, then all of a sudden we were in a car. Something happened like a flat tire so we were forced to pull over. My Grandma and my dad and some others were talking about what to do, and mean while a lot of other cars were starting to crash on the freeway. Not caused my a link, they were individual crashes. I was so frustrated with there aregueing, I decided to walk away and try to find help. As I was walking, (I guess the freeway bridge lead to the ocean [?] ) there was a giant cruise boat crashing in front of my own eyes. It was horrible, I ran back to the others, but I guess the sinking boat caused massive floods, and there was a net on the side of the bridge to I grabbed on and held my breathe as a giant wave crashed over me. And more and more started to come, and I woke up.

When i was younger i suffered from separation anxiety, literally until i was 14. I have since moved past and can now be away from home with no problems at all. So here is the story. I was on a cruise in mexico and this 16 year old sexually assaulted and harassed my girl friend. At the time I did not know he was 16 so when my girlfriend told me this I confronted him. When he did not stop when I called him I stopped him with my hand. It was a small shove at best. That is all I did until his crew of 12 people held me back. Make a long story short this was in international waters. What am I in for if this 16 year old press charges? Also the incident was not recorded by cameras and I have witnesses that say what I did was harmless and will probably argue for my case considering they are all my friends. Since the incident I have been home and not heard of any charges to me. If they do decide to press charges then what am I in for? So, my sister's 18th birthday is coming up, and I wanted to get her a really big, exciting, unique present to celebrate such a big milestone. I've been thinking for a while about what to get her, and I'm having trouble. So here's some info:
She absolutely loves the water--tall ships, sailing, all that kind of stuff. In fact, at first I considered booking a tall ship cruise for the two of us, but the dates and pricing aren't really conducive to either of our lives at the moment.
She's a hippie at heart--dreams of living in the Haight-Ashbury, driving a VW bus, all that
She has a pretty limited schedule, so any ideas that don't require a lot of time or excessive planning are great...other than that, she's pretty much happy with anything, just a kind of go-with-the-flow girl.

Our itinerary states the places we'll be going to: Radio City Music Hall for a backstage tour, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Trump Tower, a Broadway show (we haven't decided on one yet, what should we see?), NBC's Today Show, breakfast at Planet Hollywood, NBC Studio tour, Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, dinner at Mars 2112, a city tour on buses, NY Waterways 90-minute Harbor Cruise, shopping at Times Square, dinner at John's Pizzeria, Rockefeller Center's Top of the Rock, Museum of Natural History, and last minute shopping in Times Square or 5th Avenue.
That's a lot of stuff we're doing, so I need your advice. What can we expect from the places we're going to see? Also, I really need advice on where to shop. My group is probably going to be all boys, so we need some good places to shop at. We should have lots of money to spend, but we don't want to go to fancy department stores. Any advice you have for me, I would deeply appreciate.

Russia- we found a nice, inexpensive tour to moscow/st.petersburg during christmas that looked nice. but would it be too cold?
Peru/Macchu Picchu- we found a very inexpensive tour that looks nice, but it leaves december 18th and i'd miss 4 days of school. But i would love to go to Macchu Picchu.
Galapagos/Ecuador - we've always wanted to go there, and i'd have lots of photo taking opportunities. but a lot of the cruises around the islands have no hot water?
Iceland - i'd love to go there, but in december there isn't enough light and it's way too cold.
