I just want to know one thing, what is the #1 thing I would need to begin recording demos for my band besides some cheap digital voice recorder device that makes all your drums sound the same? - My ipod's running out of room, so I was thinking of buying another portable music player. I have made up my mind that I do not want an ipod. I was thinking of buying the Sony 8GB Media Player, since it does look and sound pretty good and it's not extremely expensive. Open Question: How do you use your iPhone to move your music to a new computer?
I tried to follow the directions for using an iPod, but i can't get past the part where you have to move your music folder to the iPod. I can't do that because my computer recognizes my iPhone as a "Digital Camera".
Is there a way to change that?

Open Question: How come most girls really don't do anything with their lives?
I've been trying to get back in to dating after being alone for 14 years. My last family member died a few years ago and I have problems with women wanting to date me because I had lost so much.
Now that I've gained a ton of hobbies and am making more money I figured since I've finished renovating my house, I'll try to get a girlfriend and see what happens. Well you meet these girls at church or at volunteer groups and none of them seem to do anything outside that. They just go to bars and get drunk. They want to put on too much makeup and stay drunk in all their free time. None of them want to go build something, hike somewhere, go overseas and see things you wouldn't see at home, play music, experiment cooking or whatever you can think of that is different. They just want to go out from bar to bar to bar with a digital camera just taking pictures of them and the 2 or 3 other friends they are with as they get drunker and drunker.
What's the point in dating when girls act like this? Why waste life this way? Why not go out and do something and be proud or amazed at what you've done or seen. I don't understand.
The point I'm trying to make is, when I go to other places there are no girls there. When I go to the library there are no single girls there. They don't want to be bothered by some guy trying to pick them up.
When you are at the supermarket there are no girls there that want to be bothered by some guy wanting to ask them out.
When you go to some volunteer meeting all the girls there aren't single and if they are they are already flirting with some other guy that is single and there.
There is no where else to go...

I'm in the final stages of the interview process for a music teaching job at a local music store. If hired, I would be teaching a piano preparation class for 3-5 year olds, flute lessons, and doing some administration-related work. I would like some more ideas on clothes that I could wear, which would allow for me to do the music/movement activities that would be required, as I'll be spending time with kids on the floor. I also want something that's really quick and easy to put together as I'm not the type of girl who likes spending a lot of time adding accessories, putting on make-up, and all that stuff. I'm typically a jeans/t-shirt type of girl, so I generally don't wear skirts (but will wear one if necessary). I don't do high heels, but I am willing to wear a low heel, a flat style shoe, or a this style shoe:

I am 27, and I can remember not so long ago, the thrill of crowding round the stereo with my friends, listening to tapes/cds we got.
The joy of music was discovering an album, listening to it in it's entirety, and appreciating what the artists had to offer. Also, digesting a few albums at a time was much more satisfying.
No we can pick and choose which tracks we download, and MP3 can be obtained freely (often illegally).
Have we lost the true joy of music or has MP3/other forms of digital compression improved the way we listen to music?

Benji M:- Thanks, some good points but got to fastidiously point out that digital quality is not better unless you are listening to an uncompressed format. MP3s at best are 320 kbps - CD quality is 1411 kbps

I need to write, using Sibelius (a digital music making program), a pop song (no lyrics), in C major, focusing on the one four and five chords. I dont want anybody to write it for me, but does anybody have any tips (particularly how to start and finish!)? I have a decent grasp of musical theory, but i dont know how to put it all together. I have a Yamaha Motif rack in perfect condition (for those of you that dont know what that is, its a professional sound module to make music with, adn is used by all the pros, it contains pianos,basses, drums, strings, electronica sounds etc that you can make music with ) . Open Question: How do DJs on radio stations select and play requested songs so fast?
I have noticed that when people call in to radio stations to request songs, the song itself always starts playing even before the DJ hangs up the phone with the caller... how do they find the song and play it so quickly?
Do they have computerized software that allows them (or the support crew) to search for the song on a digital database and then play it, similar to a consumer version of iTunes or Windows Media Player?
I guess the bigger question to ask is from where does the music we hear on the radio come from? Is it a CD that is played and broadcasted?mp3?some other digital file?

Voting Question: How to get my computer to recognize my MP3 player?
I just bought a good, fairly new used laptop computer recently that came with Windows XP. So far I've been able to hook up my digital camera without a problem, so I can edit and upload/download pictures, but I can't get my computer to recognize my Creative Zen V Plus MP3 player, even after completely installing everything on the CD rom disk that came with it. When I plug the player into one of my USB drives, it starts charging the battery just like it's supposed to, but it doesn't appear in Windows Explorer and the music editing program that came with my Zen V Plus keeps saying no devices or players are plugged into the computer, even when it clearly is hooked up to the USB. The odd thing is, my Zen did function for a while on my computer at work, allowing me to add/remove songs. But shortly before getting my laptop, for no apparent reason it decided not to work anymore when I plug it into any PC. Anyone know what could be causing this problem and how to fix it? Voting Question: I live in California and have a roommate I want out?
I have a person who moved in July 2008 under a verbal agreement that in exchange for a greatly reduced rent he would maintain the house cleaning of all common areas. In the middle of august 2008 this person refused to honor the agreement and stopped house cleaning.
I gave him written notice that the rent will be increased to the verbally agreed upon rate if he no longer wished to handle the house keeping agreement. The notice also stated he is still responsible for maintaining his share of the house cleaning i.e. cleaning up after his messes. Since then he has refused to clean up after his messes. He has used every pot, pan, dish and flatware *I own* and refused to wash them. He has left the kitchen counter tops and floor covered in food debris and waste. He has been hiding bags full of HIS trash in the living room and dinning room, behind the couch and dinner table. He refuses to clean any of this up.
Few facts: I order out every night and have not been in the kitchen in weeks; I have not cooked or used so much as a glass from there. I rarely do. I own everything in the apartment outside of his room. It is my possession he is abusing. I am not wanting to clean up the mess while he is there because he will just do it all over again and I will be stuck cleaning up his mess.
I served him a 30 day notice on Aug 18th that night he came in to my room, refused to leave and was physically threatening me and only stopped when I started to call 911. I mistakenly did not finish the call. He then started offering me illegal narcotics in-exchange for me not kicking him out. I refused, and this increased my resolve to get rid of him. I stated in the ad for a roommate as well as several times verbally I do not tolerate drugs and drug use.
This weekend he was once again high and/or drunk and blasting his music at 3:48am when I asked him to turn down the music, he started verbally harassing me and threatening me, I called 911 this time. By the time the police got there he had run off. They told me there is nothing I can do and it is his word verses mine.
Additionally since he moved in I have had several small high dollar items gone missing, a digital camera, and Ipod Touch, designer sunglasses and other items. When I have confronted him about these he of course denies ever seeing them or taking them. I have lived on this block for more then 20 years and have never had anything gone missing.
The neighbors are constantly reporting to me a person who looks like him is peeking in to their windows at night and when chased vanished up my apartment building driveway, which leads to a large wall and a walk way to my apartment. Others are saying they always see him acting like he is 'casing' their apartments, going to their doors but never knocking.. They have not contacted the police yet because they do not want any trouble either.
What are my options?
1. Can i place his stuff out on the street and change the locks? (Reason given would be termination of employment.)
2. Do i have to go through an eviction process since his name is not on any signed rental contacts?
3. Do I have to live in a situation where a roommate is constantly threatening me, harassing me, blasting loud music at all hours of the night? Do I have any rights?
4. How do I get rid of this person?
Please help with some advice.

No, I don't mean iTunes or any other "music browser" in the sense of an album sorting program. I mean the real deal - a browser to search music without words. Ever since the internet's been around countless browsers such as Google, Rambler, etc. have provided us with means to find information on topics we wish to know about. But they have the one problem of being limited to only words. However most of you have probably, like me, knocked on to the dilemma of wanting to hear a good song you once heard, but not remembering the title or lyrics IF ANY! You try to hum bits from it to people you know, but they either don't recognize it or fall to face the same problem as you X). You find the internet community the last way out, but there's a big no-no - you can't search notes! If you knew the title, you'd immediatly be faced with an album including the song on some online store site, if you knew the lyrics there would be many sites to refer to depending on how popular the song in mind is. But you don't remember (or didn't even ever find out) one nor the other. What to do, you say?
Well, I suppose it's something I'd like to ask from you all - how do you imagine the future of searching for music? Now, if we were talking about a seperate browsing engine, basing it on notes wouldn't help much, it would instead make things more complicated. I'll ,for one, admit that I'm not strong in note theory and certainly, like many of you, don't check the notes before hearing them - vice versa instead. You clearly see that the only solution is the help of the human ear. But how to help it go digital? I was lately thinking of , perhaps, a seperate site - maybe a forum, where people could submit threads where they could textually or visually, with the help of links to own made pictures, recreate the bits from the song they remember and others coming along to help out. Ofcourse it should be noted that countless times before people haven't been able to speak their mind properly and fail to share with others what is so vividly there in their heads. How about simplifiing their task of self-expression with a special browser, there on the site, which doesn't search for notes with pinpoint accuracy, but instead a much more simple composition of sound accuracy and sound height which will then search threw an online library of different songs giving a long list of most accurate results. This will require songs be inserted to the library by contributors (not as liberally as in Wikipedia though) and be broken into sound frequencies and heights the computer will understand thus allowing matching with the search entry. This would result in something just about as ambiguous as Project Guttenberg for books! The variety of songs included might be somewhat troublesome, depending on wether including copyrighted songs in circulation for quite some time WITHOUT the music itself would be legal.
Well, that's what I've thought of, now I'd like to hear your idea. Oppinions, theories, rejections - please go ahead! What do you think about there being (or not being) a fully operational solution to finding music?

If it helps, updates aren't automatically downloaded, but I usually let them install.
I haven't changed settings that have to do with the keyboard.
The only peripherals are the printer, backup drive, and digital camera.
I have a computer game that is downloaded (Silent Hunter: Wolves of the Pacific), and the music is all ripped from CD's that I own, and no videos.
The machine is an HP Pavilion a1230n running Windows XP that I bought new in 11/05. The keyboard came with it.
Plus, I don't know if this has anything to do with my Envision brand monitor and the problem I have there with the page display being offset by 1/4" to the right every time I need to restart the PC.

I have had my guitar, tuner and amp for about 3 years now.
My guitar is a Fender STARCaster (Not STRATOCaster)
My amp is a model SP.10
and my tuner is a Starcaster Digital Quartz Tuner (Model No. 5006)
The story:
About 6 months ago I tried to use my amplifier and it did not work, I asked my parents about it and they said they would take me to the store (Instrumental Music) later. So, about a month passes, and I ask my parents about it again, and they say "YOUR AMP IS BROKEN?!?".
This cycle continues for about 6 months until finally they say that I need to pay my own money tobuy everything, although, they have said that before, and I have told them that I have enough money for a new amp but they say they do not wish to take me. At this point I can't take it.... so, while I was trying to play around with my guitar I try to use my tuner, which I have never used before.... and it turns out that doesn't work either, but I feel like the fact because I have never used a tuner that I am making some mistake.
The details:
When I used to use my amp, whenever Over Drive was on it make a easily audible blaring sound even without a cable in. Now it makes nothing, so I know that the amp is broken because of its speakers.
I use the same cable in my tuner as I use my amp, related?
Yesterday I borrowed by cousins KORG GA-30 tuner and that wouldn't work either.
The real questions:
I see my StarCaster tuner has an input and output, what is output for?
Is it possible the cable is the problem?
Would anyone reccomend I save money and get a small personal amp that goes around a belt loop or something?
How much would a cable cost if it got it from somewhere like

I have less that 1GB of space left on my Cdrive and my computer is running VERY slow. There is nothing left for me to delete off my computer, as i need EVERYTHING that is still on there. What do i do? Also, Im so confused bc when I go to my add / remove programs, there are very few things there, so i have no idea how i am 'running out of space on Cdrive'.
For some reason I am unable to access task manager on my computer, it tells me that it has been disabled by the administrator, however I AM the administrator on my computer, and can not figure out how to enable it.

Open Question: Why can't I hear noise from my laptop? More details below.?
I have a Studio 17 and am running Windows Vista. My built in microphone had a lot of background noise while I was trying to call people on Skype so I plugged in my headphones but after I stopped using the headphones, my sound no longer works. I read some things about a stuck contact in the jack but on the IDT Audio page, it says nothing is plugged in. If I plug something in, the circle for that jack becomes bolded and when nothing is plugged in, none of them are bolded so I don't think the contact is stuck. When I play music on Itunes (also, now when I play Itunes, sometimes the songs won't play, they just stay paused at 0 seconds), the bars next to the Digital Output Device go up and down so it looks like it is playing but I don't hear anything. I'm at the point where I can't even hear things in the headphones anymore.
Resolved Question: Where do you connect a Monster Fiber Optic Digital Wire to for 5.1 Sound System?
Hey. Just got a brand new Logitech Z-5500 sound system for my PC. I also purchased a Monster Fiber Optic Digital wire for it too, for best sound quality. There is a device that I have on my desk, to control the volume and all the settings, which has a wire connecting to the sub. I plug the wires into that device, and then into my PC to play the music. Now... The wire I have, connects into the back of the device, and on the back of my computer, it has a "Digital Audio Out" ... But the fiber optic wire does not fit (I'm almost positive). So, I have regular audio connections in, but I have this $25 dollar wire, and I can't figure out where it goes. Do most computers have an input for fiber optic digital?

Open Question: Whats better to use when making a beat "Pricey Digital Keyboards or Computer Music Software like SONAR FL ETC?
Lets say I buy the best instrumental making software programs for my PC that is already on must of the high priced digital keyboards out there on the market. Is there really a difference when you end-up happening to connect a digital keyboard to a computer for advance input anyway? I feel a computer will always be more advance and up to date then a digital music keyboard also cheaper and I wouldn't have to worry about a digital keyboard crashing on me. With a computer, I'll basically just have to worry about viruses right?.....
I mean it seems to me, the reason why people only buy digital keyboards that have the same exact software as a computer is because there big in the music industry so they must have it for portable reasons such as traveling for tours, clubs or negotiating over selling a instrumental.
