I have developed a java web application. Since the coding is all done, i have decided to make it live. I was told the best hosting plan was a vps so i have rented one. now what next. How do i install tomcat on it and configure it to accept call on the domain name. I have a webmin panel, but i don't know anything about linux. I have seen the OS is Fedora Core. it looks like it will be interesting adventure but i don't know where to start. can someone point me in some direction??

i bought a domain with godaddy.com, i have dreamweaver cs3 and now i have an account to Hostgator.com. i have their hatchling service ( the lightest hosting service they have) and i need to know how to find the FTP information that dreamweaver requires to upload my site.
Dreamweaver asks for an FTP host and a Host Directory followed by a login. i need to know if these categories have an alternate name that they might be listed as in host gator.

Okay so I can see the router and ping it, but the problem is I can't get to the internet. I do have an IP (I set it up with static for now) and I set up DNS but I am not sure if I did it correct or not and I setup the gateway to be the router which is a linksys WRT54G V6.0.
DNS settings:
Host: oemcompputer (this is the name of the computer I'm using)
Domain: hsd1.ma.comcast.net (one router gave me)
DNS server search order: (IP addresses I got off the router)

I should of said it before but I have other computers on the network and they can all get out fine and the router is setup correctly. I can't connect the modem to the computer because there is no Ethernet port on this computer (only has modem and I do not have dailup). So the problem is with some setting on this computer.
P.S. There is no encryption or MAC address filtering on the router so that can't be it either.

Need help I have a .com hosted with geocities that i want to transfer to my wordpress account, so far the transfer has gone well the only problem I have is that i want to upload new themes to my wordpress account, when i setup my ftp and use the ftp domain name, user name and password, I basically log into my yahoo geocities account. I've never done webhosting with godaddy- I prefer a local business. I'm going to be setting up a site for someone that has already registered her domain and hosting through Godaddy.
How do I access the ftp??? I should be able to type in:
ftp://www.mysite.com in the URL
...and use the user name and password that you use to log in to the godaddy account. Correct? It's not working for me.
I also tried using filezilla, but that didn't work either.

im starting an online store and need to create a website. ive found a web building package that ive tried and its very good, but you need a domain name and im assuming you need a web host aswell, so i wondered if anyone knew any good, dirt cheap ones as im on a tight budget. preferably with your own domain email addresses aswell, but no worries if not.

my client has a domain name with a registrar based in the US, my client is uncomfortable with the fact that it is continents away as we're hosting the website and our webhosts are a 15 minutes drive away. What are the implications and the things we have to look into here? Does it matter if the
