My girlfriend has an important , fairly high-profile job in Washington, DC in the area of science and policy. studies. She is very smart, efficient, and reliable, and her 'superiors' love her. Trouble is that her staff are all highly educated Harvard Ph.D. types (she is too, by the way) and argue with her over the assignments she gives them because they think they know it all, and they are driving her crazy. She grew up modestly in a working class home and appreciates that she has a great, responsible job, while most of the other people see themselves as too good for most anything. She isn't the mean type, and she gets taken advantage of. I bet if she were 6'4" and an ex-football player, she wouldn't have this problem. God it's so annoying to hear this from people. It doesn't make you anymore Japanese. Why can't people say cute like normal people? Most people don't even know what kawaii really means. Ok, so before anyone says anything...I do know how lucky I am.
But here it is. I have a boyfriend and we've been together for a few months over a year. And we are happy. But since we hit a year I've noticed something and it's kind of throwing me off guard.
Ok well we've always been one of those really touchy feely couples and I have always really loved that. And I bet you know where this is going...it feels like we are getting really comfortable with each other. and yes I know that can be a good thing, because we can talk about anything, we know every detail about the other person. And I DO love that part...but see I sort of miss the parts where he was all over me and like, when we watch movies we actually just watch them and i know this sounds dumb but I miss when it was like I had to fight him off of me. I have always dreamed to be in the olympics and my best bet would be a sprinter. I'm not just a guy that's new to sprinting, so I know how the workouts are and everything. I did track and field when I was a freshman. I competed for junior varsity the first meet and won all my races. I did the 100m and 200m and 4 x 100m relay. On my 100m, I got 11.5. On my 200m, I got 23 seconds. I didn't run off blocks and I didn't do much training prior to racing. I automatically moved up to varsity my next meet and for my 100m, I got 11.2. My 200m, I got 22.6.
I wasn't serious about the competition because I was only doing track and field just to get faster for football. That was my only year I did track and field. If I got really serious about it, then I probably would've been getting in the 10 second range by my senior year. Now I'm 18 years old, just graduated from high school and enlisted in the Navy for 4 years. I decided I want to join the Navy so I can make my parents proud that I'm serving for the United States and I wanted to get good job experience and free college. Now I'm watching the Beijing Olympics and I see all these guys that are competing and everything and thinking to myself, if I had continued sprinting after my freshman year, I could've been there. I'm a natural sprinter (fast twitched muscle fibers). So my plan was I complete my 4 years in the Navy. I'll be 22 years old then. That isn't too young to still get back into sprinting right? If there is any way I could join a local track and field team or hire a sprinting coach, I could start over again. By 26 years old, if I put a lot of hard work and dedication, I could maybe compete with the best of the best!
If I didn't have natural sprinting abilities and was just somebody that decided he wants to start running, I wouldn't be thinking about this. I SOOO regret not continuing track and field when I was in high school because I might've gone somewhere with a scholarship or whatever. But I am proud that I made the decision of serving for this country because the USA is my home and everything. So is it not too late to start? I'll be constantly working out when I'm in the Navy and hopefully be in good enough shape when I get out. I'm pretty serious about this so I don't want rude answer please!!
