We convert our sunroom into a bedroom for our toddler. The only problem is it's not as well insulated as the rest of the house. She has beautiful hardwood floors but it gets cold in the winter, so we'd like to put carpet down, and save money by installing it ourselves- it's a small space anyway. I went on vacation to a tropical place a few weeks ago. While there, I suddenly developed a few red bumps on my arms and legs that looked like mosquito bites. Shortly after I got back home, the bumps started itching. I counted 34 bumps several days ago. I bought calamine lotion and I've been applying it daily but I have seen hardly any improvement in this condition.
I don't know if these actually are mosquito bites or something else. Now, I'm also wondering if the sheets and bedding at the hotel where we stayed were in fact clean. I don't know what the hell caused this to happen and I've never experienced it before. I'm a very clean person and it is just mind boggling as to what the problem is and how to fix it.
Should I go to my doctor tomorrow? Is it time to seek medical attention? I'm extremely worried.

hi my golden retriever had her puppies about almost 8 weeks ago and she had them outside when we were gone and 2 of them have some kinda skin probley its only on 2 of them we took them 2 to the vet and they first said it was ringworm and we could catch it but after the medicine was gone and no improvement we took them back and then he said it was a bacterial infection and gave us more antibiotics they finished them yesterday morning and i see no improvement on them one has it on his nose.both back legs.one front leg. and on his ears but his hair on his ears are growong bac and look nice and on the other puppy it has it on her tail.and her 1 back foot but her tail looks gross because all the hair has come off the both of them i am also using a lymedip on them also what else can i do i am keeping one but i am wanting to get the other better so it can go to its new home

Baby's 'miracle' recovery in British hospital to give Malta its first saint
The testimony of a British surgeon about the "miraculous" recovery of a baby has helped pave the way for the canonisation of Malta's first saint.
Anil Dhawan, a professor of paediatric hepatology at King's College Hospital, London, told The Daily Telegraph yesterday that there was no scientific explanation for the recovery of a Maltese boy with "devastating" liver failure.
Dr Dhawan was speaking for the first time about his evidence to a Roman Catholic church tribunal, which investigated whether the child's improvement could be ascribed to Blessed George Preca, a 20th century Maltese priest who died in 1962.
A glove that had touched the body of the priest was placed on the boy by his parents, both devout Catholics, as he lay in a critical condition in King's College hospital nearly six years ago.
The "miracle cure" has been declared genuine by the Vatican and Pope Benedict XVI will canonise Blessed George in Rome in 11 days' time.
Dr Dhawan, who is leading research into whether liver cell injections can replace transplants, said: "There was a 90 per cent plus chance that he wasn't going to survive without a liver transplant. But he survived.
"Furthermore, he improved on his own. Acute liver failure in children is quite a devastating illness. The majority of them die. Scientifically I do not have an explanation for this child's recovery."
Dr Dhawan said that he felt "privileged" to be involved in the canonisation, adding that he would be flying out to Rome for it. The boy, who has not been identified, developed severe liver complications just days after his birth in July 2001.
He was examined in Malta but his condition was so grave that he was transferred to King's College Hospital, the home of the world's largest and most expert paediatric liver centre.
On July 14 doctors concluded the baby would die if he did not receive a new liver. The boy's family prayed to Blessed George, who was renowned for his "simplicity, humbleness and meekness". On July 20 his liver started to function normally and within another four days the baby no longer required a transplant.
According to church sources, the boy is now a healthy five-year-old. In July 2002, a tribunal was set up to study the case. It heard the evidence of 38 witnesses. In February this year, the Pope announced Blessed George would be canonised.
Three steps to glory
The process of canonisation begins with an investigation into the person's character, after which they can receive the title "Venerable".
One miracle is required for beatification, which brings with it the title "Blessed", and two for canonisation as a saint.
Miracles are cures that cannot be explained, which are "organic, immediate and irreversible".

My wife has been thinking about starting a container garden, and I am hoping to get her everything she needs to get one started as a gift (by the way, I'm in the southern hemisphere so spring is coming just around the corner). Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. I've swung by the local home-improvement store here, but I just don't have a clue what things would be needed. Open Question: What would cause a brand new cedar deck to obtain black stains all over it?
We just had a new cedar deck built and then a window washer came to clean the windows and after he left the new deck has ugly black water stains all over it, especially under the windows. There was also this same black water dripped all over the white chairs on the deck and on the carpet under the windows inside the house. The owner of the window washing company says there is no way his window washer could have done this. He said they have been using Dawn dish liquid for seven years with no problems.The home improvement store that we purchased the cedar from says they stand behind their cedar product and it is the window washer that is responsible. We are just sick because we were just getting ready to put the home on the market.

My husband can be a real jerk. He attacks my general behavior instead of just talking about a certain incident. For instance, there's laundry on the floor that I sorted and haven't gotten around to putting in the washing machine yet (because I work 50-60 hours per week and cook dinner and am not home too often), but instead of asking me to finish up the laundry, he comes in and says that it seems like things never get finished with me (we split chores, but laundry is mine). I tend to put things places and forget them because I'm so busy, but not a single one of my friends has ever called my house messy...in fact, they say it's much cleaner than their places and I've made a lot of improvement since I lived by myself because I know clutter bothers my husband. My husband and I have had a lot of conversations lately about accepting each other for the way we are. I've been going to counseling and we've been reading a marriage book. Anyhow, I need to know how to get past this behavior and deal with him so that I can go home peacefully every night. Any ideas?

To answer your question Ed Atun, well I guess I did because I made many home improvements over time, if that's what you mean. Some of these include kitchen cabinet refacing, siding, new furnace, some new windows, kitchen and bathroom tiling and new shower, vanity. So its not that I went and splurged it on myself or anything. I guess the thing I have to do is pay off as much as I can, and then hopefully sell in a few years rather than one.

My husbands brother could not keep his dog, Alaskan Malamute, because he did not have the time to take care of it. My husband and eventually decided to take the dog is. We have had the dog for the past 11 months and he has not gotten any better. When we first got him, the previous owner did not pay attention to the dog AT ALL, he was doing stuff like chewing up all my dogs toys, we could leave him in the house or else we wouldn't have one and the unit what we are staying is does not even have a grassy area! We have a back area, very small, that is all cement and trust me is not a comfortable area for the dog. The only grassy area that we have is in the front lawn and we have to watch them. So now I am up to my head with all the frustration. I have let the dogs bad doings pass for the past 6 - 7 months and I do not see any improvement. My husband says that he is going to get rid of him but then he knows that that would affect our marriage. I, obviously, do not what that to happen but at the same time I have sacrificed so much for my husband to be happy with this dog and NOTHING seems to be getting any better. With that being said I am very adamant about finding the dog a happy home. Needless to say that I have tried to help my husband by walking the dog and taking him out but the darn dog still pees and poops in the back and tears up our landlords property, which will eventually comes out of security deposit! ok. im pretty good at answering questions and pretty much take matters into my own hands when it comes to solving them. but this is a serious delimma for me.
i became a mother at a very young age. i married and had 4 more children. i have been married more than once and my children are doing well. i decided to start dating again and my motto was take it slow. which i have beeen a success. i met this man. he is wonderful in every sense of the word. he is 10 years older than me. we decided to take the relationship to the next level and...you guessed it...IT WAS BAD BAD BAD. he doesnt cum too soon or anything like that and he is by no means little!! i figured it was because we were just gettin to know eachothers bodies, yadda yadda yadda. but its been a couple months now with little improvement.i tried talking to him. he doesnt seem to get it. he is a WONDERFUL person. iam a very experimental person in the bed and would like for my mate to be also. but he is anything but. i mean stick in the mud. he know that i have NEVER reached orgasm with him. at first it seemed to bother him but thngs went right back to ok 'i got mine'. iam by no means use to this. i do not want to lose him because as i said he is a wonderful person and very special to me. i will leave before i go else where to get my needs met. i even suggested we make a trip to the 'toy store' but he blew me off. i purchased 'ky yours and mine' and he put it in the night stand drawer!!!!!! the only time i cum is wwhen im at home alone with my vibrator. i really enjoy his company and do not want to lose him. but iam a sexual person and iam not ready to put this side of me to sleep for the rest of my life. please any advice will be greatly appreciated....signed frustrated and gettin carpral tunnel.

Hi im 16 years old Im 6'2'' and im 300lbs. I just got this new job that requires me to exercise. Basically my job is cleaning and i ride my bike to the place which is a mile and takes me 13 minutes to get there.Takes me 3 - 3/12 hours to clean the place - which is basically walking (Emptying trash from bin to bin, vaccumming the place, basic cleaning etc) Id say id do 2 miles of walking through out the entire place. Then i ride my bike home which is another mile. Im not dieting but i DO watch what i eat. Im eating alot less junk - drinking more water. Im used to eating alot of junk at night before bed but i stopped that. I learned that when im itching for a snack, i can drink water instead and i get full. Id drink about 3/4 of a gallon everyday. Question is - Do you think i would lose weight? Im only 16 and i dont want to diet because its like i cook my own food. If i lived by myself then thats a different story. But I was on the scale and i lost 12 lbs already which i know is all water...Also im not gonna look at the scale because it can be discouraging. Instead - hopefully ill go by my clothes. Feeling whats getting loose. Do you think id see an improvement on my health? Thanks!

Voting Question: 5 year old bullying another child and the parents don't care. Need advice please!?
My son is 6 and a neighbor boy is 5. They are best friends and play together constantly but when they argue (as all kids eventually do) the 5 year old neighbor boy gets violent with my son. He does everything from shoving, grabbing and name-calling all the way up to biting and choking (yes, choking). A couple weeks ago he even told my son "I'm going home to get my dad's gun and I'm gonna come back and kill you." Of course he ever intended to make good on that threat, but I am disgusted with his parents' apathy about his behavior.
When he bites, chokes, hits with toys, etc. I ground him from our home for 1 week. I call his mom and tell her why I'm sending him home and that he can't come over to play for a week. She does nothing to him...no time-out, no grounding, NOTHING. He's outside immediately playing with other neighborhood kids. All she says is just a "don't do that anymore, honey." That's it! For biting and CHOKING another child in anger, he receives no discipline. For the gun threat, all she said to him is "Don't say that anymore. It's not nice."

When I ground the boy from our home, I feel like I'm punishing our son. Despite his friend's behavior, he still wants to play with him all the time. His parents do not parent him. I've tried talking to them at least a dozen times and there has been no improvement. I've tried being nice and civil and I've tried being rude. So I gave up on the parents and last week I told my son that when his friend shoves or hits him to shove or hit BACK. I felt terrible teaching him this because it is NOT in his nature to do so, but the neighbor boy has to learn somehow and his parents aren't teaching him. So yesterday he pushed my son and my son pushed back. Then the neighbor boy punched him in the face and my son came home crying. My advice to him to push back only made his situation worse!
I need some experienced advice about this situation. Should I take back my advice to him about hitting back? I don't want other kids to learn it's ok to hit my son by watching that one child. My son is argumentative so I'm sure that doesn't help the situations when they argue. How can I teach him to resolve these conflicts before they get to the point of violence?

I want to install a doggy door so my dog can let herself in and out for bathroom breaks - while i'm here of course! We don't really have the right door leading out back for one of the nicer ones (it's a glass door.)
Mom doesn't want to spend a lot of money on replacing the sliding screen door with a better one just to get one of the panel doors that also lock the screen door in.

I do get up to let her out, but she loves it outside. She asks to go out every 20 minutes just to sunbathe, then wants back in. I figure this would be a good compromise.
I would prefer the ones with the sensors but as i said, we don't really have the right door for those kind.
She's a small dog so i don't worry about people being able to fit, and i won't have the regular door open unless i'm in the downstairs part of the house.

I know I let the problem go on too long, but I am married to a good man who would probably saw his right arm off for me if I asked him to. Since he started working out of the home several years ago, however, he has been seriously letting himself go. He hasn't had a problem with sitting around the house wearing the same pants he's worked outside in for the past week, he doesn't brush his teeth regularly, and even the kid wants to know why daddy doesn't wash his hands after he goes to the bathroom. I've dropped hint after hint, and finally threw a fit this weekend. After a raft of excuses, he admits none of this is new and promises to turn over a newly washed leaf. Then last night he helps me put things away, his breath knocks me over and he explains that he forgot... and I don't even know how to address the fact that sitting around in your boxers after dinner with dog breath is NOT the improvement that I had in mind!
What am I going to do? I can't stand for him to get close to me any more, and I am depressed, frustrated (yes, like that!), and angry.
How do you make a man understand something like this?
I've spent the past couple of months getting him out of the house and around more people: going to church, volunteering at an outreach activity, etc., and he started taking meds for depression a couple of months ago because his doctor and I both insisted that there was a problem there.
He wasn't like this when we met or for the first five years or so of our marriage - he was very neat and well-groomed, but now it's like he's reverted back to some sort of barbarian boyhood where it's okay to eat without washing your hands after the dog has been licking all over you.
What am I supposed to do? He's starting to make other men look really good, and I hate that.
I did not "just put him on meds" , and we've had a number of discussions about how he got into his current frame of mind (some of it is situational and some of it is hereditary).
I haven't just dropped hints, either, unless, "Honey, you have got to go to the dentist. Your breath smells like something burning and your teeth are going to rot out. We have dental insurance. Make an appointment and go!" Yes, I have even made an appointment FOR him only to have him get too busy and be unable to go.
When I asked him if any of this was new to him this past weekend, he admitted that he had been hearing it for years, and he offered more excuses and explanations. I think that is why I am so short now - I've been griping for so long, and now I can't stand for him to get close to me anymore.

He has been to the vet for Coccidia treatment. He was on an iv for over 24 hours, and still will not eat. the day after he came home, he had blood leaking from his butt. He will not eat, only drink water occasionally. he is on the medication Baytril and Albon. I did some check ups on these drugs, and it seems like that is not a side effect. but i was reading on Coccidia, and it seems bloody stool is one. i am just worried, all the treatment we have done is not working. he has been on those drugs for over 48 hours now. should i see some improvement??? I would just like to have some peace of mind knowing my Pipens isn't going to die. please help if you know anything about this case! p.s. he is less than a year old, about 10 mths.
Open Question: What's the best vacuum cleaner that costs less than $100?
I am looking for a vacuum that has good suction power. We have wood floors AND rooms with carpet in them. Having a dog in the house means we have pet hair to contend with.
My experience with rechargeable appliances and tools leads makes me think that corded units are a little more powerful.
Vacuums with bags tend to present issues, either in finding the right bag easily or messy changes, so I prefer bag-less, altho that is not a top priority.
A more expensive vacuum would probably offer better performance, but with other home improvement projects going on, I have a limited budget.
I am interested in hearing from folks who have actually used the unit they are recommending, as opposed to researching this issue. Real recommendations from real users are one of the most helpful ways to know if a product might perform the way I expect it to.
My solution to the problem was to purchase a simple vacuum cleaner that I could afford. I did a little research, and looked at various consumer ratings in making my decision.
The vacuum I got works just fine on the surfaces I have. I think the variable may be long range durability.

okay so I am female 21 who wants to do construction but I want to learn as I go not go to school I need money now I have a son to support I like home improvement things like demolition and rebuilding, painting landscaping ect but I have no experience in these fields I don't mind hard work or getting dirty but I am still a girl and I can hold my own once I'm on the team also I am in central valley california

a woman is not to be heard other then in the bedroom when she is making all of them noises while trying to make a baby. she is to not have a job, other then her home, and child bearing.

Resolved Question: What can I itemize (deduct) from my income tax?
I know I can deduct the interest I paid on my mortgage but can I deduct home improvement expenses? Also, is the deduction cut-off still $10,000? I mean, we tried to deduct things before but our tax guy told us that unless we had $10,000 in deductions, we couldn't deduct anything. Is this still the case? We have done alot of projects to the house this year and if you include the mortgage interest, we have about $12,500 in deductions. Can I itemize this year? Any tax gurus please advise. Thanx!

Have tried all major home improvement stores. Looking to scour scratches out of Corian countertop and they suggest using gray and white scour pads by Scotch Brite. Don't want to buy online -- only need a couple of each color. Online you have to buy in bulk. Any help would be appreciated.

I have been married just over a year now and my marriage is falling apart. My husband and I have known each other for 5 years and while we fought (the usual stuff) before getting married, it has progressively gotten worse - now it is namecalling, profanity, verbal abuse, and tears - namely mine. In January of this year it got so bad I went home to be with my family b/c I couldn't be around him. Since I returned, our fights have decreased but the anger, resentment, hostility are still there.
For the first yr of our marriage, he was the "breadwinner" b/c I was in grad school and I think this placed alot of pressure on him. But now I am working and am contributing to our expenses so we share everything now - equal partners. Our arguments typically consist of something stupid ("you didn't wash the dishes") and ends with him telling me that I am unsupportive and don't appreciate what he is doing for us. In some cases, I agree with him that I could be more supportive but I think that's something you learn with time in a marriage.
i have suggested counseling many times over the past yr but he says it is "throwing good money at a bad investment." Says he prefers to put our money into things like electronics, home improvements, etc. that he knows will make him happy. He has asked me to attend a personal development class and, in exchange for completing it, he will attend marriage counseling. I have enrolled for Sep in the hope that he will keep to his promise.
My husband is an only child and he takes his family commitments seriously. He says he won't ask me for a divorce out of respect for his parents and obligation to mine. But I can't imagine spending the rest of our lives this unhappy and I know our parents would agree - I don't know what to do. I don't love him anymore, I barely like him at this point, but there is part of me that still loves the person I used to know and fell in love with.
Is there hope for us?

I am 27, and I have been having frequent muscle spasms lately. They only last a couple seconds, and they move around (calves, big toe, eyelid, bicep, thighs).
The twitches seem to come while I am at rest (like sitting or while I am in bed), and they go away if I move my arm or leg.
It almost feels like little gas bubbles moving under my skin.
Does anyone else get these?
I have been under a lot of stress lately and exerting myself doing home improvements.
Resolved Question: Ankle strain....unhappy with recovery?
Can anybody share their experiences with me on their ankle injury? Most of what I've read only tells what to do immediately after an injury, but I'm not finding a whole lot of advice on the long-term
Slipped on ice 1/30/08, wasn't mobile for a week after the injury. (Xrays were taken at the ER ruling out any breaks).
Saw my DPN 3/6/08 after recovery plateued, and he prescribed a lace-up brace and aquatic physical therapy.
Didn't do the aquatic therapy because I'm quite obese and didn't want to get in a swimsuit (I know!), but I wor the brace consistently.
In June when nothing was inproving, DPN prescribed land-based therapy and have been doing that since. With no improvement in the land therapy and home exercises (and quite a bit of pain), I gave into aquatic therapy. After 6 sessions, I'm still not seeing any improvement.
Looooooong story short.....it's going on 7 months, and I haven't seen any improvements in recovery past the first week after the major swelling and bruising went down.
I know weight plays some factor, but the therapist insists there should still be some improvement by now.
Where do I go from here?!?!?!

Why is my sister so emotionally abusive?
I am 20 years old, just moved back home with my wonderful parents because they missed me and i have a sister who is 21 years old.
She is labeled as a strong character in the family and enjoys getting into arguments with me, my parents and anyone who has legs.
I lived with her for 8 months last year and she was very controlling and still is. I've taking the approach of just leaving the situation, not speaking to her because every time I talk to her, she will correct me on something or try to prove that I am wrong. I would call her very aggressive.
Now here is the kicker, I love her and when we are not fighting, we get along real well, best friends laughing non stop, but as soon as i commit an error she will hassle me and start an argument. So I'm slowly drifting away from her because when the abuse happens i feel like curling up into a ball and dying.
I get close to her but then i get bitten by her so I put my guard up and it just seems to be going in a cycle.
I want to fix this but i have trouble speaking to her and explaining my feelings because she manipulates YOUR feelings to show her "innocence".
I'm not trying to cause a battle, but my main intention is to preserve peace. So what i always end up doing is staying quiet and not saying anything at all.
She is a hypocrite because we had a deep conversation the other day about that we should treat our parents like kings and queens and i agreed with her gave her no hassle at all (she admitted that she needs to make an improvement but the main purpose was for me to change my attitude).
So today me, my father and my sister went to watch the dark knight. I drove, paid for dinner, paid for popcorn etc(all which she suggested would be showing our parents they are kings) so far i was following all the rules except on the way back we stopped to get gas and my dad wanted to pay because he is so kind. So i was fueling and standing outside with my dad temperature was about 8 degrees celsius. Now my dad lectures me whenever he is at the gas station and i am present he says always grab the reciept which i do because someone can steal all your money something bogus. He said it again tonight, i did not explode or anything i was all calm, i simply sat down in the drivers seat and said to my sister every time he lectures me about the receipt, and she replies "YOU LEFT HIM OUT IN THE COLD" and i lost it a bit and got trapped into her games and said how did i leave him there, you could of at least come outside and waited with us instead of being on the phone. Then she tells my dad and he says it wouldn't be necessary, i was just defending myself. I was quiet the whole way back and just drove.
So i come here for some advice anything is appreciated.
Im just at the point I don't want to know her anymore because she is too emotionally controlling, shes moving out town in about two weeks.

My 14 year old cat has a serious upper respiratory infection. I took her to the vet. Her temp was 104 so he gave her a shot of penicillin and sent me home with Amoxycillin for her (twice a day). She is very, very ill. Within 12 hours she was much worse, then seemed to get better as I think her fever broke. She got up and drank from her water dish for a long, long time. Then she got worse again with no improvement over night. While she did drink water this morning (with some difficulty)I can't get her to eat. I rubbed water from the tuna can on her mouth and she licked around her mouth with that but she wouldn't eat the small pieces of tuna I put in her mouth. What can I give her for nourishment? I have some replacement milk for a litter of newborn kittens. Would that help? Something else?
