  • Open Question: Could i insure myself as a provisional driver in my own car?
My grandma has offered to buy me a car when i pass my driving test, but spoke to me the other day and said she would consider buying me the car now so i can practise in it and hopefully pass my test a bit quicker. I know i can only drive the car if i have someone over the age of 21 with a valid driving licence in the car with me but how would I insure the car? Can you get an insurance policy out as a provisional driver or would i have to get someone else with a full licence (i.e. one of my parents) to insure themselves in the car and put me down as a named driver? How would it work and is it worth getting the car now when i have to tax it and insure it but cant drive it, or should i just wait til i've passed my test? Cheers x
  • Open Question: I need to know about getting full custody?
Ive posted about this jerk a few times now but now something new has come about.......... The baby is not here yet but daddy has gone insane! we've never been married and he keeps threatening me and my family and saying crude nasty things. He says that he wants to kick my families *** and the other day he spit in my hair and slammed my head into the car window. (obviously I have left him and I intend on moving out of state soon) Now he is saying that he is going to take my child away and insure that I will never see my baby again. WHAT are some child custody laws and how do I insure that its the other way around. I have saved all nasty and threatening emails and texts. I cant find anything on custody laws that don't involve divorce.

  • Open Question: I'm thinking about getting rid of my truck to this auto placement company. Is it a scam?
I'm going to give you as much info as possible. I treid to think of every possible scenario so i emailed them some questions. What do you all think? thanks Here's what they claim What we do is list your vehicle on our web site (at no charge to you) and then our clients can view it and the details and once we have interested client we place them in your vehicle for the remainder of the term of your contract. Once the contract is completed and all payments are received then the title would transfer over to them. Should the client default in any way we would make the monthly payments until the default is corrected. And if necessary we would remove the vehicle from the client and place with another to finish out the term. We accentually manage your vehicle for you until the end term of your contract. We make sure that insurance is kept on the vehicle and we require them to keep 100/300/100 policy at all times. There is no cost to you at all for any of our services, we charge to user our fees. Our clientele is mainly word of mouth and repeat clients, which allows us to have a pretty good client base. I am attaching a set of our contracts for you to look over. All that is needed to get started is to complete the attached paperwork and fax it back to us, or for faster listing just go to our web site www.autoplacers.com and click on “List Yours” and fill in the information and submit it to us. We can usually place most vehicles within 7-10 days some even sooner. If you have any further questions please just send me back an email or give us a call at (866) 673-1556. I look forward to working with you. Have a great day. here are our emails I have a couple concerns before I send the contract. I'm looking at worst case senario. Sorry What if the client decides to get up and drive to mexico and steal the vehicle? Jo has been doing business with this client and several members of his family for many years. However if someone were to go to Mexico, etc to steal it insurance would be covering that, the same as if someone stole it while in your possession. Sounds like a great place for people to buy a vehicle that do not have a proven financial history (bad credit)... Is this true? Not really we do run reports on every client, most clients are people that are self employed, been through a divorce, etc. Is there anyway that I can get screwed with making payments if the truck gets messed up in anyway? No, as in the contract the vehicle is to be inspected regularly. And any damage would be covered under the insurance policy as well. What if my Credit Union asks for proof of insurance? They are going to get a copy of the proof of insurance from the insurance company, and you will have a copy of the policy as well when the vehicle is picked up. The credit Union will be listed as the Lien Holder and you will be listed on the policy as well as Additional Interest. Do I have access to the tracking information so I can see where the truck is when I want? Well It’s a service I use through www.rmtracking.com and I can give you access to it if you would like. I only use it should I need to retrieve a vehicle. The service has different fee schedules you can go to the site and view those. I would appreciate answers to these questions please. Thanks alot for all your time Aaron Weldon ANOTHER My credit union has the title.? What if the truck is involved in an accident and the driver flees leaving the truck behind, when they search for title with DMV, it will show that I am still the owner right? Yes it will, and you will have the contracts and insurance policy showing you entered into a use contract and with whom. Also, any ticket on the truck will come back to the address on the dmv title right? I should know, that's how I find out about my wife's parking tickets. Any parking tickets would come back to you if they were not paid, and that is covered in the contract. If they do not pay them they will be in default and we can have the vehicle picked up, that usually gets their attention but very, very rarely has that ever happen. Maybe two cars a year we hear about a parking ticket. Also, if you don't transfer title to the new temporary owner, how can the new person get insurance. My insurance company asks me for the registration to show ownership. First they are not considered a temporary owner, only a permissive user, this is why you are listed on the policy as well as Additional Insured. We don’t have any problem getting vehicles insured. Will the lien holder on my truck be notified. They will only receive the insurance policy from the insurance company. As for insurance papers, once I was going to have a boat towed from NC to CA. The transport company sent me proof of insurance. I called the transport company's insurance company and found out that the transport company's insurance expired a ye

  • Open Question: Need help: who's fault in this collision?
In melbourne. When I drove forward, the car at front stopped 30 metres away, with reverse lights and brake lights on. I stopped to wait, but that car didn't move. I didn't saw her left taillight on, so I thought she may want me to pass her car first. Then I drove forward slowly with my right indicator flashing and overtake. When I almost passed her car, she started reversing to her left rear side. It was her bumper 's right hand side onto my car's left doors. My car's both left doors was damaged with long scracthes, and her car's bumper was damaged on right hand side. When I parked the car, there was a cyclist told me that she didn't know how to drive and left. I didn't have enough time to ask him be my witness. However, there was another guy told her that it was not her fault and was asked to be her witness. We changed details of name, phone number, registration, etc, but no report to police because no one got injured. I took pictures with my mobile phone of her car, because there are some old dints, scrathes and damage on it. My car is not insured. I was planning on selling this car which I bought half year ago. Her husband called me today and wanted to send me a quote from a garage, and said that I should pay for the bill cause it was totally my fault. I ask him if I could contact his insurance company. He then said that there was nothing to do with his insurance company, and he could get police involved if I dont do what he asked, and I would get $260 panalty as well. I told him feel free to get police involved. Who's fault is it? What should I do next?Whats the law like for this in Victoria? Thanks! Thanks guys. I'm in Australia, it is legal to drive a car without insurance here. I did not report to the police coz I had to meet my girlfriend in 20 mins. btw, I remembered that the other car didn't have reverse light on before I decided to overtake it. I will go to police tomorrow. Thanks again.

  • Open Question: California residency: I've been here for a year without getting a drivers license - any penalties? - Tuition?
I moved to California from Idaho a little over a year ago. I planned on living in CA for a few months before going back to Idaho and going to school. Plans have changed….and YES I know I should have established residency right after moving here. I’ve been working and living in CA for a solid year now and still have my Idaho drivers license/license plates. I want to establish my residency and take a few classes without paying out-of-state tuition costs. If I get my CA license, will I be considered a resident if I can prove I’ve been here a year – and will they penalize me? Or will I have to wait another year before becoming a true resident? Thanks in advance for any suggestions/information BTW, I moved to CA in June/2007. I started a job in CA August/2007. So I've been here more than a year. My car is registered and insured at my address in Idaho. I am going to get CA plates now, but I still am wondering about my residency and any possible penalties.
  • Open Question: Car Insurance Carrier Codes?
I was in an accident and the police officer told me not to exchange information (the guy became violent after the accident so we didn't talk at all). The accident report only provided me with the policy number and Insurance Code for the other driver. How can I find out who he is insured by? I called State Farm and they never heard of looking up that information - they weren't even sure what it meant - they were of no help - I looked up the states Motor Vehicle Commission website and found the list of all the codes of Insurance companies registered to do business in my state. I filed my claim just minutes ago. Thanks for your help.
  • Resolved Question: Who is at fault in a parking garage accident?? ?
I live in California and was in a parking garage. I was in line to leave when another car backed into my car (my passenger door). Who is at fault? There is only damage to my car. I do not have insurance but the other driver gave me his information. I called and started a claim and they are waiting to contact their insured driver. Will I have to pay my own damages because I do not have insurance if it is not my fault?

heres the problem. I have a car that my father co-signed for that I have been paying for 2 years. The money comes out of MY savings account every month. He decided that since he is mad at me he is going to take the car and drive it to florida( I live in MA) the car was registered and insured to him to save me money and he took the plates(fine with me) but I hid the car somewhere because he tried to have a tow truck take it unsucessfully because he did not have a key. Any help with the laws surrounding this or my rights would be helpful... thanx
  • Open Question: Cops pull me over 2-3x a month, never give a ticket, is this profiling?
I live in a nice neighborhood, South Orange County California. And without fail I get pulled over about 2 - 3x a month by the police. I am a law abiding citizen, I do not speed, I always use my signals, etc. The only "crime" I am guilty of is driving an old car in a nice neighborhood. I drive a 1989 Infiniti Q45 with a faded paint job. It is all I can afford. My car is fully registered and insured. Yet I get pulled over about 2-3x a month by the local police and its always the same routine. Most of the times they never tell me why the pull me over. I have gotten pulled over 24 times since I bought the car in October 07. I have NEVER received a ticket or a warning. And they always ask me if I have drugs in my car. I am VERY sick of this. I am not doing anything wrong, hence why they have never given me a ticket. Is there anything I can do about this short of trying to buy a new car? I have lost most of my respect for law enforcement because of this.
  • Resolved Question: Locksmith broke a piece inside the car door and damaged another part. Can he be held responsible?
My husband lost the electronic key while out of town. He called a locksmith who came out and made him a new key but in the process broke the handle and locking mechanism to the tune of $380.00. The locksmith didn't want to give his insurance info. Don't they have to be bonded and insured to cover things like this and what recourse do we have?
  • Open Question: Auto Insurance Company trying to deny my claim?
My car was hit while parked in a parking lot. The guy drove off but the police were called and they caught the guy. The officer called me and asked if I would like to press criminal charges. I said no, as long as the driver is insured(I have 2 years to decide to press criminal charges for hit and run). I obtained the police report.I had the insurance asseser come out and take pictures of my car. I have done everything I am supposed to. The guy who hit my car is not complying with his insurance company. They want him to send in pictures of his vehicle and he has not. They say that there is no proof that he hit my car, since the witness who took his plate number LEFT before I could get her information. But he admitted to the officer that he hit my car. It is in the report. Isnt that proof enough? Should I press criminal hit and run charges against this guy, since he wont comply? Will the insurance company ever give me my money? Thanks.
  • Open Question: Is there a web site for comparing overall insurance rates for different makes/models of cars?
I am *not* looking to get an insurance quote, but more of a ranking of different vehicles, specific to models. I want to compare vehicles that are roughly in the same purchase price range. If I know ahead of time that one vehicle is ranked less expensive to insure than another, it may influence my car choice. Obviously, high end performance or luxury vehicles are more expensive to purchase/repair/replace, and therefore more to insure. I'm not looking high end.

Ok. Here is the situation. My parents purchased me a nice truck. It is titled to them, under their insurance and all that. Now there is this small car that I was lookign to get that I can bring to my job where I don't have to be afraid my truck will get all dinged up and all. So my question is this. • Open Question: Best vehicle and insurance options for young female driver?
Hi everyone, I'm a 23-year old female living in Toronto, Ontario. I just graduated from my Masters' degree 2 months ago, I'm now working full-time, and I need to get a good, reliable, but reasonably priced car. I've been under my mother's car insurance for 5 years, as a second driver, with no accidents or tickets. What type of car would allow for the lowest insurance rates? I'm thinking of a 2009 Corolla because I would get the New Grad discount from the dealership and they also have a graduated payment plan where you can make lower monthly payments for the first year. What do you think? Also, would it make sense to have my mother insure my car under her name (I can just be added as the second driver again)? I was told that this would help lower the rates, at least until I'm 25. My mother has one car insured so perhaps if we add a second one, we'll get a multi-car discount. What do you think? Could I buy the car (ie: the "ownership" would belong to me) but still have my mother as the primary driver for insurance purposes? I know I have lots of questions, sorry! But, one more: would it be better to lease or buy the vehicle (if I buy it, I would really be financing it and making monthly payments)? Any help you can provide would be much appreciated! Thanks! :)
  • Open Question: Where can I buy a daewoo matiz in the UK?
I am looking to buy a daewoo matiz but don't really want to spend more than £500. What websites can I go to apart from the Auto Trader. I live in Oldham, near Manchester. This car is for my hubby and since he is a 20 year old male the insurance on a car is absolutely extortionate. So we have resorted to having a tiny little car (800cc) so it's not so expensive to insure. We only have £2000 for a car and insurance, hence why we only have £500 to spend on the car. Any help would be great. It doesn't have to have tax but would like MOT.

  • Resolved Question: car insurance for one day - for driver's license test. possible?
So I'm hoping to use my mom's car to take the driver's license test in a few days. I live in the United States. The problem is I'm not insured for her car, but to do so for the full term costs a LOT (I'm 21). And, I'm moving back to school and probably won't drive her car again for a long time. Insurance is necessary to take the test, right? If so, is there any alternative to getting 6-month or whatever coverage? Note: My mom says I'm not covered under her insurance.

My dad has tried to add me with his insurance policy, Churchill. However they said they cannot accept learner drivers as i need to be 18 (which i am), and must have a full licence for atleast 1 YEAR. But that makes no sense because how am i supposed to have a full licence if im GOING to take my test.. Is there any insurance companies out there that will insure me? Please help. Thanks
  • Voting Question: What is involved in replacing air bags?
My daughter had an accident which deployed both air abgs. The damage to the car itself is minimal, and is limited to the front left corner of the car, but both bags need replaced. Other than the bags themselves, what else do I need to check/replace to insure they'll work correctly again? Sensors? Computer? Wires? The car is a 2001 Saturn SC1. Please help.
