  • Resolved Question: How far does a wireless mouse for a Macbook reach?
I am a teacher and I want to use powerpoint presentations with an LCD projector. I would like to not have to stand near my computer to move to the next slide, so I'm thinking of getting a wireless mouse. Will that reach across my whole classroom? And, will it work from any angle? The laptop ends up being near the projector, towards the front of the room but close to the middle. Thanks!
  • Resolved Question: Why do flat TV makers use odd native resolutions such as 1366x768?
It's annoying... There's no way to do 1:1 pixel-mapping to these LCD TVs! Any HD signal, be it 720p, 1080i or 1080p, will have to be scaled by an odd factor before being displayed, so there's no way to get a tack-sharp image out of your PC or PS3! On the other hand, projector makers do make units with exactly 1280x720 pixels, which means you can watch a 720p signal without scaling (when overscan is turned off), or a 1080p signal by scaling it by a factor of 2/3. Both cases are far better than scaling by odd factors. So, my question is: Why do TV makers use such odd native resolutions in their flat panels?

  • Voting Question: Projecting White Screen Only - PT-AE900U?
My roommate's projector is only showing a white screen. It starts up and shuts down fine, fans run as normal, but no menus or any video appear, just a blank white screen. Apparently when the issue first occurred the screen was showing the menu, then it went to static followed by this white screen. I think this may be the LCD, but I find that difficult to believe as the projector would have had to have all three screens fail. It seems more likely that a wire may be loose inside the projector. I'd like to get a second opinion though.

I recently purchased a new 42 inch Philips LCD, I previously had a Westinghouse 32" LCD @ 720p with a Asus Pundit HTPC ran to it via DVI/HDMI cable with no problems. When I purchased the new TV and hooked it up it shows the bios and pre windows vista booting but once desktop comes up it looses signal. If I connect the HTPC to my projector and boot the pc and then swap the cable to the Philips LCD it will work but once rebooted it will not, basically it will not work booting on the Philips only swapping. I tried hitting f8 upon boot and booting with VGA resolution but it's not working, only thing that works is safe mode.

  • Resolved Question: 720p or 1080i for a 15ft viewing distance w/a 50in rear projector LCD Sony Wega?
I think 1080i is native on it, but I keep reading that 720p has a longer viewing distance due to the limits of human visual acuity, that even 1080p would be a waste at the distance. I'm not moving the TV any closer, it's a room that is 16 ft x 10 ft, perfectly set for a theater type room(cant explain how it looks on here very well, but if you saw it you'd know waht i'm talking about) anyways.... I want people who KNOW what they are talking about and can give specific information not just opinions. I have noticed that even though 1080i seems sharper I can pick up on visual acuity better playing Xbox on 720p it seems, dont know if it's in my head or if its based on some human visual acuity thing, especially on those quick paced online games. anyways... just seeing if anybody can give me some educated answers about it... thanks...

  • Voting Question: HDMI Audio Setup?
I have an audio problem with my setup... I have a Panasonic Projector and a Sony LCD TV that are fed with a Panasonic Home Theatre System, a Playstation 3, a Cable Box, and a DVDR/VCR. I bought a 4x2 switch, but figured out that it would only do video. I would like to get the audio of what is showing on the projector back to the home theatre system, preferrably by HDMI. But, my system only has one HDMI port and it is an output. I would go digital optical but the home theatre system doesn't support it. Should I stay with composite audio, or upgrade? What systems have optical in or hdmi in that are reliable?

LCD Sony VPL AW15 BRAVIA Projector DLP - Dell 1609WX Widescreen Projector DLP - Mitsubishi HC1500 Projector I had an Optoma 745EP DLP which was great (until the color wheel died).
