I have begun my weight loss journey with 1 hour of cardio five days a week, along with 20 minutes of resistance training 3 days a week. This + a low calorie (1600 a day) diet have proved not very successful in my weight loss attemps. I have lost 3.5 pounds in two months. My doctor started me on Meridia today. Does anyone want to share their success story with me? Or even failure? Tips? Side effects they experienced? Thanks!
Not at all. Meridia is a prescription appetite supressant. Alli is an OTC fat absorbtion inhibitor.

I am not asking anybody to preach to me about diet pills. I am obese, and am going to do see a weight loss doctor next week. I am covered by United Health Care. Today is my first day taking it, and I have read the website and all the drug warnings and everything, but I haven't heard about personal stories.
My doctor says he expects me to lose about 5 pounds a month with it but I have heard some people lose up to 15 pounds a month.
I'm combining it with diet and exercise - so please don't tell me not to do it or that I'm taking the 'easy' way out.

I am a very healthy person, despite being obese. I eat healthy food, fruits, vegtables, whole grains, chicken, fish. I try and restrict my calories to under 2000. Which is about 1500 less then what I would need to maintain my weight. I love working out, and do so 4 or 5 times a week, running, walking, cardio machines, bike. I burn at least 800 calories each time I work out, which usually takes me 60-90 mins. I went to my pc doctor today and he did blood, which I know will come back normal, but refused to prescribe me anything like phentermine or meridia, even though I asked for it. He even told me he could refer me to a bariatic specialist, but he wouldn't give a damn FDA approved prescription. I do not want to have surgery to lose weight. I am very upset about my situation and I am looking for advice.
I didn't want to admit this but I am 5'7'' and 270, so there is a lot of fat to lose. What I meant by healthy is that I have perfect bp, cholesteral, heart rate, and no other problems besides being overweight.

Hi, My name is Sarah and I have been on Meridia for four days. I took it for two months about a year ago. The first time I mainly had the side effect of Dry Mouth. This time I just CAN NOT sleep. Is it normal to have different side effects the first time compared to the second? I know it's only my 4th day...do you think the side effects will become more regulated? I'm hardly able to sleep more than an hour or two w/ out waking up. I've started taking it earlier and earlier in the day...even though the pharmicist suggested to take it before bed.
