Okay, so I was 18, stupid, FOUR YEARS ago, I currently took out a loan, a real one, and it put all my current information to them.
I just got a letter in the mail saying how much I owed and all that, what are my rights to them, it's already messed my credit up, so really what can they do to me??
And I live in Arkansas...
I don't want to pay it back, it's not the money, my credit is already messed up and that won't help me a bit...

How to I help my parents without jeopardizing my financial security, too? Any money I give (I don't lend money to family) is that much less I have for my kid's college accounts.

A little while back I found myself in dire straights, financially. I live in a region of the United States, (Arkansas), that was hit by some seriously devastating spring hail, and strong winds, and rain. It forced me to move from my home, ( and not at a time that I could afford a move!) I decided to try to get cash from three different lenders on the Internet, since my credit was detroyed by my ex-husband, who did not obey the divorce decree to pay debts for utilities that I left on in our home, when I left him. The money I borrowed from these lenders, totals $540.00, (with their finance charges added to the loan amounts.) I have already "rolled the loans over five times, which means that now I am paying the finance charge, plus an additional $50.00-$60.00, until the loans are paid off:(approximately a month and a half). I don't even make this type of money! What can I do, so that I can eat and pay my rent? I really need help, and FAST! Should I just close my checking account, so they can't take any money out? I have direct deposit, and I don't know how quickly Human Resources can stop this.
Plus, I have been a good bank customer, for 41 years, up until recently, when I am constantly overdrafting my account to pay these loans!

I want to avoid payday loans, but i have insufficient credit history for a small short term loan. Yes, i've tried my bank, sadly declined because of the aforementioned reason.
Also, what if your cosigner has not had a credit account in 7 years but his credit rating is still "good". A popular jewelry store recently obtained his credit report with his permission to qualify for a purchase, and said his credit was "good", but he hasn't had a credit account in years. Would this type of cosigner be accepted by banks, lenders for a small short term loan?
REPLY: It's just that my credit accounts (i have 2) are both only two months old, and although both are not delinquent as i have paid on time and paid more than half of what i owe on both accounts(my total credit card debt from both is $400), a 2 month old credit account still puts me in the "high" risk area.
Also, my current job is my first job, and I have been here for only 11 months. And this is basically the only thing going on for me. There are so many circumstances which can't be considered such as what if I have been recently promoted, and that promotion will take effect on Nov. The creditors could verify for themselves if they called my boss, but how do you say this though in the application.
Admittedly, I have had overdrafts as my bank account too is as old as my job, I opened it with my first paycheck. But I just consider this as part of the growing pains for us that are starting out. Also, the money will be used for medical purposes as I am not yet insured.
