Ok, so, I pre-ordered Dead Space from the EA website using my mom's credit card number. Thing is, She got a bill recently that had a $10.26 charge on it from EA web designs. We've already paid the 70 dollars for shipping and the game itself, so it's not taxes or anything like that. Does anyone know why this happened? It's gotten to the point where she thinks that her account has been hacked, so any answers would help greatly.

  • Open Question: Telephone Scam. Need your help please.?
Today my wife received a call from someone claiming that we had been entered in a sweepstakes or something. Anyway, they ended up telling her we could get some great deal on a magazine. They called her and then had someone else call back and ask for a credit card number. Unfortunately she gave it to them and agreed to 70 bucks or so that was supposed to last 4 years. I love my wife to death but this is probably the dumbest thing she's ever done and I've told her about 100 times to NEVER give our card number out over the phone. She knew she'd screwed up right after she hung up the phone, so she went ahead and called the credit card company and cancelled our card. They said we could file a complaint later. I told her to call back and cancel the subscription and the guy on the phone gave some stupid story about them already pre-ordering the magazine and couldn't give her a refund. When I called to talk to them he said that she agreed to $70.00/month and we really owed them over $800 for the year she agreed to. They said they had the recording to prove it. I told them I had cancelled my credit card and that I would fight the charge. They tried to threaten me by saying I couldn't win because they had a recording (he mentioned something about the laws in Florida???) and that I would end up having to pay the whole $800. I told them I was calling the better business bureau and would fight it with my lawyers if I had to. He then tried to make me some deal for only $99.00 for the whole thing. He wouldn't let me off the phone and I had to hang up on him. He called back like 3 times trying to intimidate me by playing my wifes phone conversation, saying that the credit card company couldn't win because he had her verbal agreement. My wife says she never ever heard them say anything about $70/month. And who's ever heard of a magazine subscription that you couldn't cancel and had to commit to for a year? I have already cancelled the card, alerted the Credit Card Company, and will be calling the BBB in the morning. 1. Do they have any legal way to scam me out of the $800? We haven't received any magazines and I have told them I was cancelling the subscription (probably never would have seen them anyway) 2. What other steps do I need to do to protect myself? Thanks,

  • Open Question: What are some Pre-paid credit cards?
I'm 14 and nobody is giving me a straight answer on pre-paid credit cards. What are some pre-paid credit card companies and where can I get one? I don't want to buy it from the internet but go to the store and buy it. Most people also said I need to give the people my date of birth and social security # because of the PATRIOT ACT.
  • Voting Question: credit card application addiction?
No, I don't have an addiction to USING credit cards but merely applying for them. I always see these "good offers" and vaguely wonder if my credit is high enough for approval, because I know having high limit credit cards or more credit cards is good for your credit score as long as you pay them off, or better yet, don't use them at all. Anyone else have this "problem" and how do u refrain from all of those tempting offers. I put "reject pre-approved offers" on my credit report and I still get them in the mail. Also, would you recommend getting cards at different banks or all at one?
  • Voting Question: A question about the Visa Gift Card?
I am a minor so do I need to give my DOB and Social Security # for a Visa Gift Card? I wanted a pre-paid credit card but my parents need to co-sign and I need to give them all of my information. I don't want my parents to get all up in my business because they think ordering from the internet is bad (don't know why). That is why I need help, thanks in advance. Oh and what amounts do the gift cards come in? Thanks
  • Voting Question: Can I still get a loan?
A little history: I was thinking of buying a house initially. This summer I applied for pre-approval for a loan of $80K and while I was denied, I was told to re-apply in the fall while my credit had a bit more time to build. I have very good credit - paid off car, paid off student loans, never late with payments for 6.5 years BUT I do have a bit of credit card debt. I pay on time every month and usually pay more than the minimum payment, but not always. Now, my plans have changed. I've decided to buy a boat and live on it. The boat that I want is used and needs a bit of work, but it's a good boat and I've lived aboard a boat before so I know what I'm getting into. The boat is going to cost me probably $30K overall, but $15K for the boat itself. With the economy the way it is, will I be able to get a loan for this? Can I get the whole 30 or only the cost of the boat itself? Any advice on the type of loan I should try to get (terms, length, etc)? I know that in the summer, I probably could have qualified, but I'm unsure now and I've never had to get a boat loan. My last boat I bought in cash. Thanks! I asked for honest advice and opinions from fellow Yahoo Answers users, and to those who did just that, I thank you. However, to those scam artists who think that I am stupid enough to apply for a loan from some douchebag with a gmail account, go f*uck yourselves! Your thinly veiled attempts to prey on people less fortunate is despicable and I would like to tell you personally that you are the scum of the earth. Thanks again to those who have legitimately answered my question and have a nice day!

  • Open Question: Home loan....please help?!?!?
My fiance and I applied for a home loan today & all our numbers added up very nicely. We were advised to go with a certain loan that requires NO credit card delinquencies within the past 12 months. If we had any delinquencies we would have to pay more(interests, fees & down payment). Well, we brought home the pre-approval application but then I remember that I had a late payment on one of my credit cards. Is that considered a delinquency or are delinquency's it just accounts that go into collections? Please help....Thank you!

  • Resolved Question: How many people know Clinton started the downfall of Fanny Mae & the economy collapse? Ya better read quick !?
Ok so I'm an independent & have been really paying attention to what these dudes are saying because I have kids & want what's best for them. What you don't know is in 1999 (Sept.30) The New York Times printed an atrticle that headlined "Fannie Mae credit to aid mortgage lending" , just throw this title up into the yahoo search engine & you will get to the article, better hurry they are trying to get it purged! Clinton signed a bill "relaxing" the qualifications to get loans, credit cards & mortgages because he said he thought it was every American's "right" to own a home (yeah IF you buy within your means & actually make your payments!) so we were all bombarded with "pre-approved credit card crap daily in the mail, even my 12 year old son was WOW, nice country huh, Everyone would like to blame Bush for this situation but please do your reasearch before you vote,That man was handed a country that was viciously attacked 8 months after he took office, it did not take 8 months to plan 911! Our towers were also attacked 1993, the American embasy in I think Africa in 1998 & the USS Cole in 2000 all while Clinton was in office, we are being brainwashed to think Bush is the reason for the economy, even Katrina! this is absurd, he was handed a pretty bad deck of cards right off the bat, we all forget Clinton was hobknobbing with the Hollywood elite & being pleasured by a young intern while our enemies & even some Americans like the late night comics were all laughing us. This is crazy, I was on the fence because I want to do what's right for my children in this election but after really studying Obama, seeing who he really in & has in his circle I will in no way vote for this man,he's saying what he wants us American's to hear, even his own America hating preacher Rev. Wright said "Obama is just saying what he has to for political reasons so he can win" his own preacher said that! This guy will do and say anything to win, his promises are unattainable, he also hobknobbs with the Hollywood elite all who have way more money then you & me so what do they have to loose. I understand people need health care, but why should hard working Americans get the same "free" health care some idiot sitting on their butt not contributing to this country get the same as someone working their butt off? even illegal immigrants get better care then some Americans, does anyone else see something wrong with this? We are being brainwashed to vote for the Hollywood backed candidate who do not give a crap about the working stiff, they have enough dough. People make fun of McCain & his houses? you got to be kidding! Ever watch cribs? Besides this is his wife's money, her father worked his booty off & left his daughter his business, (they have a pre-nup by the way). They also want to make fun of Palin?? why? 'cause she's real? most of us have no idea the crap she was asked? But she does have more experience then both Obama & Biden in executive decisions, what she lacks in foreign policy McCain more then enough makes up for, She will learn. I don't agree with everything the left's say, like a women's right to choose but jeez Obama voted to allow late term abortion, that's like a baby already then he signed that if the baby was born to a "botched late term abortion" & it was born alive the doc's are not allowed to revive it?? WTF , just let it die! I'm a mom, how can you let a baby die? this is all on record & should really be looked into, at least with McCain & Palin what you see is what you get, so she made some mistakes who hasn't? I really hope people don't vote 'cause of his "celebrity" or what the freaking lying press has wrote or his BS on what he can do for us because it's just unrealistc. Just look into it & don't be influenced by rhedoric like I almost was! I'm just a hard working home owner & no body is bailing me out of my mortgage. I want what's best for our country, OUR country.... Sorry so long but people just don't know the truth, the left slanted news sure isn't putting it out there! I'm so glad I found the truth....... Look up the Fannie Mae stuff, very good reading! Thank you so much for not blasting me.. I'm just want the truth (& we are not getting it from the left wing media & aging hippies who want free everything for all, I think they swallowed too much urine soakd mud at woodstock,no one is doing their homework because they want to vote like the celeb's, who really don't give a crap, they have enough dough & don't have to worry about about how they're going to pay their next bill but as long as they come off politically correct,.( I mean actors who hold a show at bay unless they all get a million dollars an episode? That's a million dollars a week for that greety Jennifer Aniston who convinced her co-workers to hold out until the the network caved! that's more money most us will make in a lifetime,No wonder Brad left her,At least Angelina gives back. One thing for sure McCain & Palin are real, That's what we need ~real. That's again for not bashing me I'm just trying to learn like everybody else but won't be brainwashed by celebrity bull! Thank you so much for not blasting me.. I just want the truth (& we are not getting it from the left wing media & aging hippies who want free everything for all, I think they swallowed too much urine soakd mud at woodstock,no one is doing their homework because they want to vote like the celeb's, who really don't give a crap, they have enough dough & don't have to worry about how they're going to pay their next bill but as long as they come off politically correct,.( I mean actors who hold a show at bay unless they all get a million dollars an episode? • Resolved Question: What should I do with my financially abusive husband?
I can't believe this! My husband stole money from me! My husband is extremely abusive, emotionally, mentally, financially and verbally. Regarding finances, the first year we were together, he didn't work and I was the only one brining money home. He forced me into getting a loan and credit card for an imaginative business idea that would benefit us both in the future, then he took the credit card and loan off me and spent it on extensive shopping for himself and changing his mobile handset and cars every month. He promised to at least pay the minimum payments, but because he didn't have income, obviously he didn't pay back and I ended up with a huge debt (£20,000) and bad credit so my bank account was closed. My salary was going to his bank account and he spent it all, the only money I had was for train ticket to go to work. I was in love with him, so I let him get away with that, and thought I sacrifice myself for him so that he may change for my love. Then later on I got pregnant and couldn't work. We had to move in to my brother's house and we were at my brother's mercy for 9 months, during which my brother gave us pocket money. It was so infuriating and depressing but I couldn't do anything. My father sent me some money, I kept it somewhere to save, but realized the money was getting less and less every day, and he denied he was the one taking it. When the baby was born he had to go to work as my brother moved somewhere else. My maternity allowance and child benefit went to his bank account, during the past 15 months that I stayed at home with the baby and he is the one working, he didn't give me any money at all even for bus fare. So I was stuck at home, depressed and isolated. My brothers gave me some cash gifts worth £550 over 1.5 years that I saved hidden somewhere so that he couldn't find it and I kept in for emergencies in case my baby needs something. Eventually he found the place and my money started getting less and less and still he denied taking it. I was so frustrated and later he gave my money back. £550, claiming that he is doing me a favor and I was the one who lost it in the first place, but that's not true because I hid it under my bed in a safe bag. We are moving to US and I thought I can escape from him in US, so I sold all of my pre-marriage Gold that I saved through years, altogether I could create $4100. Yesterday he found it and stole $100 of it. And still he denies it. I can't believe he stole from me again. He wants to make me feel like crazy by denying it!!!! What should I do? Just to say, I can't stay in UK anymore, because with this credit history I can't do anything, and I couldn't extend my visa because he took all my money and i couldn't pay for university. The only option now is to go with him to USA because he is a US citizen. I think I don't love him anymore, because he is a Charlatan. What should I do?
  • Resolved Question: What do you think about bailing out banks?
Instead of just bailing out banks, what do you think about a bill making rules that make it more difficult to just hand loans and credit cards out to just anyone? When I was 18 I had a hard time even getting a credit card, and my first one was only a $200 limit, now people have numerous chances to get credit cards, with outrageous limits. The same goes for mortgages. Isn't it the banks' fault for taking a risk and lending to someone? Many mortgage companies and banks clearly lend too much. When my husband and I were house shopping, they pre-approved us for an amount that, after our bills, would leave us with about $20 every month. Now how is that responsible lending? Shouldn't we let these banks pay for their irresponsibility and greed?
  • Voting Question: where do I find an unusual prepaid credit card?
The card that I am looking for should operate in the following way. I have a pre-paid mobile/cell-phone, with a company called TracFone, and the rules are very simple. When I pay for service, I can use my phone, until service expiration date. If I want to continue using my phone, I just pre-pay, for more service. If I DONT pay, for a few months, I just dont have phone service, until I Do pay. I am looking for a credit card which works the same way. When I deposit money onto the card, say $100.00 worth, then I can make purchases, of up to $100.00 worth. If my money balance reaches $0.00, then I cannot use the card, until I put more money on it. No monthly fee's, or annual fee's. Are there any such cards out there?
  • Resolved Question: Is America becoming socialist or communist?
This $700 billion taxpayer bailout to save the fat cats is Washington is the latest example. The taxpayer gets little or no benefit except massive future tax increases and promises that neither Obama or McCain will be able to keep. We might get an increase in pre-approved credit card offers in the mail for our stolen money. At least in Socialist Canada, UK or France, the taxpayers get free health care, and heavily subsidized college costs in return for the massive taxes they pay. And in Communist China, the people also get free health care. Here in America the politicians shout freedom, but only big businesses and their lobbyists enjoy true freedom. They can fail and still get rewarded. We get screwed.
  • Resolved Question: how to go back to silver membership on xbox live ?
the problem is i had gold for a while now it was being charged to my parents credit card but now my card has expired and i would like to go back to silver membership and then buy the pre paid cards for whenever i want to play online but it seems that if i don't add a new credit card and let them charge me i cant connect to xbox live again until i do. but there seems to be no way out of it if i don't i cant get back to silver and then just buy pre paid gold if i need to but then if i add a new credit card i will be back to square one where they keep renewing it even when i don't want them to this isn't fair i have friends that bought pre paid cards from the start and when it runs out they just go back to silver but for me i have to add a new credit card again and it seems like silver isn't even an option for me i have read on several forums that people have had the same problem and tried to call support with no help at all so is there anything i can do please i am desperate so if you can give me any information or help i would really appreciate it thank you thank for your help i in actually fact did as you described i got a prepaid card its called 3v i am from ireland and you can get these in ireland and uk but after i done this i let the credit run out and got a gold membership as a result but when the credit on it ran out they requested that i update my billing information by email but i want to use just pre paid cards for subscription which there is no option for on either the xbox dashboard or internet. they proceeded to send me another email which explained the same thing as above but this time said that if i didnt that i would be suspended from connecting to xbox live which means i cant even get the silver membership or connect at all just play games normally i am very surprised at this poor service and hope that somebody does something about this what they are basically telling me is that because i decided to use a credit to make purchases i cannot go back and will forever have to use it to get even the basic features on xbox live

Is it so that congress can go on vacation next week? With Pelosi at the helm this wouldn't surprise me? Are we trading a bad week on Wall Street for 20 years of misery for the taxpayers? People with solid credit will always be able to get loans. So what if people with bad credit can't get mortgages or credit cards. It will force them to rebuild their credit. Why isn't Obama and McCain listening to the massive outcry from the people against this Wall Street bailout? Why is a country based on freedom and free enterprise considering this massively expensive bailout? With $700 billion we could build 50 nuclear power plants and provide universal health care for everyone. Instead the government is stepping in so that we can keep getting "pre-approved credit card applications" and the banks can keep ripping us off - while CEOs continue to milk the system. The amount is so staggering that we could pay off three million $250000 mortgages with this money. Did congress sneak $100 billion worth of pork barrel spending into this bailout package?
  • Voting Question: sending credit card offers back to the sender?
I'm tired of getting credit card offers because of how much paper they use up, so I went ahead and took my name of their lists through the optoutprescreen.com website. However, I still have piles of credit card offers to get rid off. Should I just send them back in the pre-paid envelopes? Do I need to scratch off my personal information before I do this?
  • Voting Question: What should I do about money in Europe?
Hi. So I'll be traveling to Europe in a year or so. My credit limit isn't that high and I don't want to carry around wads of cash. Do they have pre-paid credit cards for travelers or something? Any ideas?

  • Resolved Question: Pre-selected for a personal loan?
Citi bank sent me one of those letters saying I've been a long time customer with excellent credit so I have been pre-selected for a loan of 6500. I called them and asked for only 5000 to pay credit cards off. I got denied and I asked why and she said it might be your student loans but they will send you a letter in the mail. My student loans have always been there so how is it now that it is a problem and I get denied. Why preselect me if they know I have those loans? I just don't understand. Can someone explain how pre-selection works?

  • Voting Question: Where can I keep my money besides U.S. banks?
For various reasons I no longer wish to use American banks to store my cash. I don't have large amounts for investments, nor wish to do stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or money market accounts. I already put the money on pre-paid Credit cards and use PayPal. Aside from buying gold or silver, where else can I place my money and have access to it but without the risk of losing it to thief or market conditions? I will need access and use of my funds world-wide as I am a traveler.
  • Resolved Question: What method of payment should I use to pay debts?
I received a collections call and I made arrangements to send the full payment. The collector told me that if I send the payment before Oct 1, they can remove it from my credit report now. If the payment is received after that date, I'll have to wait a certain amount of time before they do this again. Is this true? Also, I advised I would pay by money order, but it won't arrive on time if the above mentioned is true. Would it be stupid to get a pre-paid debit card to pay this off since I don't want to provide them w/ my bank account info?
  • Resolved Question: I need your advice on my financially abusive husband?
My husband is a compulsive liar, he is a loser, he gets sacked after 1 month wherever he works. He forced me into getting a loan 3 years ago when he started living with me and wasn't working, he spent my loan and credit cards and now I am in debt of £20,000. He tricked me into getting pregnant, and I decided to keep the baby. During my pregnancy I couldn't work and we lived as charity in my brother's house. After the birth of the child, he started working but became more abusive and didn't let me access any money at all. So during the past 2 years from my pregnancy until now that my baby is about 15 months, I have lived in poverty, sad life, depression every day and struggling to survive. He never paid any bill and we had to move house every few months because of debt collection agencies. During this time, I used internet and secured myself PhD scholarship at the University of Arkansas in Genetics as we were planning to move to USA. Also I asked my family go bring money instead of birthday gifts and I saved all the money in a hidden place and also sold my pre-marriage gold which is now $4000. He doesn't have any money at all however as he is crazy with money. We are moving to Fayetteville to my uncle's house. I really want to get rid of him in America because my baby is getting older and I don't want her to be affected by her mum suffering. And I personally can't take it anymore. But I am very scared, I don't know if I can survive in America with $4000 saving? From January I get $1200 living expenses as part of my scholarship, in Fayetteville houses to rent start from $350 per month which is very cheap. But the cost of childcare is very high about $800 a month. I think if he could stay in a job in USA, his second income may help us with the childcare. But I hope there is a way that I could figure out the cost of childcare so that I don't have to tolerate his abusive behavior anymore. Can you give me some practical advice please? Maybe on how to manage my $4000 saving? And maybe a way I could find money for childcare? Thank you. I really hope that after next month that we enter USA, I don't have to tolerate him anymore!
  • Voting Question: I REALLY need help with fixing my credit score...?
I am currently looking to buy a house, but having trouble with the loan pre-qualification process. Everything I have, I pay for with cash, so I don't have any credit. I really don't want to get a credit card, or take out a loan in order to take out a loan. Are there any ways to "quick fix" my credit? I've heard that if I have someone with a credit card put me on their account, that their credit rating will be reflected in mine? I have a few bills in collections, but nothing unfathomable, financially ( $500 total). Please, please help. I can't continue to have my familly of five in a three bedroom apt.

  • Resolved Question: FHA deny me at close of escrow?
Hello, I was pre-approved/qualified for an FHA loan. Everything is going and we're supposed to close escrow in a week. 2 months ago I had a medical bill that was said to go to collections if I didnt pay it (The bill is for 750.00. I wrote a letter to the hospital disputing it). I havent heard anything from the hospital since and have no received anything from any collection agency. My credit score when they first pulled my credit was 680 and I just paid off 3 credit cards within the last 2 weeks. Will I be ok or is it a good possibility that I will get denied before closing? Any help is appreciated. thanks! ohh, we got a lock in rate already of 5.5%
  • Resolved Question: Whats the point in a prepaid credit card?
We have atrocious credit and can't get even the "poor credit" credit cards like Vanquis etc, so I've pretty much given up trying I have read about "pre-paid" credit cards on which you put your own money in an account and then use the card to spend it. But why? Whats the point in buying a piece of plastic with which to spend your own money? Whats the difference between that an using an ordinary debit card from your bank?
