Related articles from Yahoo AnswersOpen Question: Gambling cruise ship experience, now ready for the real thing...?
Hi, I worked on a gambling cruise ship that went out 9 miles into international waters from St. Petersburg FL. I was a poker manager, a lead in crisis & crowd management, and also assisted in marketing and advertisement for the ship(all under the same contract). Now, I live in California and have sent out my resume, references, and other documents relevant to this job to various cruise lines(i.e. Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Princess, etc.). I have researched this enough to know that you should never pay towards websites to distribute your applications, and that it takes a few months for a response. My inquiries are: is there any way I can speed things up? Are there any hiring agents out there I can get in contact to? If I am called in for an interview, what if it's out of state; will they do it over the phone? Is there anyone out there that are hiring aboard right now that want to contact me? Thanks.
Sincerely,

Resolved Question: Princess Cruises - Emerald Princess - January 9th 2009?
Hi my name is Nathan,
My wife and I just got married, and were looking forward to going on a cruise for our honeymoon. We found a fabulous cruise, but unfortunately we are only 20 and this cruise requires there to be an adult above the age of 21. Fortunately I spoke to the cruise line and they gave me another option, I can still come on this cruise if I have a cross reference of someone already boarding this cruise. All the cruise line would need is a first and last name, and the booking number of the person giving the cross reference. If you are going on this cruise we would greatly appreciate your help in being a cross reference for us, and would be willing to compensate you for your trouble. You can contact us at nathan0707@aol.com or at 347-893-5646. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Penina and Nathan
I called Princess already no luck there.
Resolved Question: MSC The Orchestra???
Hi,
I was looking up travel ideas for
Spring Break and I came across
a GREAT deal... its 550 for an adult
but children 17 and under are free???
(I know that the deal is 1 adult = 1 free
child and each additional child after the
adults are $199)
Ive went on many cruises and I was
just wondering why the rates are so cheap?
Last spring break I went on a cruise and the
cost was a meir 1000 however it was grand princess.
But it was over the exact same dates? This fall for my
birthday we are going on a Royal Caribbean cruise and
it was around 840. And that rate was during hurricane season.
Anyways back on track...
Its a new ship called The Orchestra.
The line is called MSC.
It leaves March 28th 2009
Disembarkation is out of Fort Lauderdale
and calls to Cayo Levantado (Samanà - D.R.),
Philipsburg,St. Maarten, St. John's,Antigua,
Nassau,Bahamas, Then returning to FFL April 4th.
Its suppose to be an italian fleet.
I was wondering has anyone been on this ship?
Is this deal too good to be true?
Is there any catch?
Is MSC a representable Cruise line?
What are your general reviews on the ship?
ANY HELP WOULD BE WONDERFUL!
I'm traveling with my bf, my friend, my mom and I.
I definitely want this to be an unforgettable experience.
Thanks for everything =]
Some times the website doesn't serve any justice ya know.
I just wanted to see some reviews before I book away.
P.S the pictures Ive seen of the boat, are stunning the
ship is absolutely beautiful!
Thanks for reading and helping me out with this LOONNNG question..

Resolved Question: Recommended Cruise Line for Caribbean Cruise w/Family
Well after my family did an awesome Alaska cruise two years ago..they have decided that they will leave me to plan our next cruise...the Caribbean cruise for Christmas season.
So I guess step 1: what Cruise Line would you all recommend for us. My parents are in their early 50s, while the kids (3 of us) are 21-29. Who knows maybe "the kids" will bring their girlfriends as well (same age group).
From what I understand we should avoid Carnival Cruise line...since we're going as a family and not as a bunch of drunk college students...Our Alaska Cruise was with Princess and they seemed to have a good mix of ages and diversity (we're primarily Asians & Pacific Islander). Recommendations?

Resolved Question: Best cruise from NY/NJ (choices given)
Specifically I want to pick one leaving from NY/NJ in Summer 2009. The choices include:
NCL:
Norwegian Dawn (7-day Bermuda)
Carnival:
Carnival Miracle (8-day Caribbean)
Princess:
Caribbean Princess (9-day Caribbean)
Royal Caribbean:
Explorer of the Seas (9-day Caribbean/ 5-day Bermuda)
For 4 people, all the Caribbean cruises are around the same price and the Bermuda ones are cheaper (NCL Dawn is the cheapest of the choices) but it really comes down to which line has a good balance of prices (even onboard), entertainment with places to relax, and dining.

Resolved Question: Princess Cruise Lines in Alaska?
In September I am leaving with my aunt to go on a Princess Cruise in Alaska! Has anyone else ever been on this cruise line before? The reason I ask: my aunt is truly fun to hang around with, but she likes going to bed by 10 and I was wondering if there were any activities I could maybe stay up for without her after the fact. That or-is there anything for young adults to participate in that is exclusively for that age group? Again-I don't mind hanging out with my aunt, but after a few days I have a feeling that we will need some time away from each other! This is my first cruise, so I know nothing about what kinds of activities I am going to be able to participate in! It's also in September in Alaska...so probably no exciting summer stuff-but even still...if there were ziplines at one of the stops, that would be SO MUCH FUN! :D

Resolved Question: Which cruise line do you prefer?
Out of Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Princess, and Celebrity?
The only ones I have heard of out of them four is actually Royal Caribbean and Carnival. I have been on Carnival and liked it but I didn't know about any of the other cruise lines.
I have been on one cruise and that was with Carnival didn't know if the others were better then Carnival.
Thanks.
If we do the cruise next year it will just be my husband and I, we will be leaving the kids with the grandma.
Resolved Question: is this one gonna upset some chelsea fans yes or no The Russian oil baron?
Some years ago, a Russian oil baron who had six children, all girls, began to despair as he had no son and heir. Imagine his joy when one of his wives finally presented him with a son and heir.
Just before his son's sixth birthday, the baron took him to one side and said, "Son, I am very proud of you. Anything you want, I shall get for you." His son replied, "Daddy, I would like to have my own airplane." Not wanting to do anything by halves, his father bought him United Airlines.
Just before his son's seventh birthday, the baron took him to one side. "Son, you are my pride and joy. Anything you want, I shall get for you." His son replied, "Daddy, I would like a boat." Not wanting to do anything halfway, his father bought him The Princess Cruise Lines.
Just before his son's eighth birthday, the baron took him to one side. "Son, you bring so much happiness into my life. Anything you want, I shall get for you." His son replied, "Daddy, I would like to be able to watch cartoons." Not wanting to look a cheapskate, his father bought him Disney Studios and their theatres, where he watched all his favourite cartoons.
Just before his son's ninth birthday, the baron took him to one side. "Son, you are an inspiration to us all. Anything you want, I shall get for you." His son, who was by now really into the Disney cartoons, replied, "Daddy, I would like a Mickey Mouse outfit." Not wanting to appear to be tight, his father bought him Chelsea Football club.
Resolved Question: Specifics of working for cruise line?
I've read dozens of questions/answers of working for cruise lines. Questions that I'd appreciate help with:
1. Which jobs get tips? I've seen salary estimates for various positions... I'm guessing that doesn't include tips.
2. Are the fellow staff friendly? Is it easy to make friends?
3. How long do you spend in port? When we're in port, assuming my job responsibilities don't require my presence on ship, will I feel like I've actually seen the place or will I just feel crappy about the briefness?
4. Are there discounts or free trips at all if I want to make a gift of a trip to a loved one? If so, when do these perks kick in?
5. Do I need to worry about cabin fever of exhaustion? I'm healthy... I'm talking about mental exhaustion.
I'm a recent college grad with a desire to travel for a couple of years. I figure I can quit after the first contract if it isn't for me. Right now I'm looking at Princess but I'd like info on every line.
Ten points to the best answer. Please help me!
Resolved Question: How are Carnival Cruise's compared to others?
Can anyone tells me their experiences with Carnival cruise's to the Caribbean? I have heard mixed feeling, mostly it was alot of fun, but I had one person tell me, everyone was drunk in the halls and falling down everywhere, just a non stop spring break party. Is this cruise line a big college frat party? or was my friend exaggerating? Looking for a fun time, some dancing, drinking, casinos, some swimming, sun, good food.
I am also looking into Royal Caribbean and Princess, but was wondering about Carnival. Carnival just had the perfect schedule on one of their ships. Also why does Carnival seem cheaper than the others (princess/Royal Caribbean)
We are looking for an in between cruise, one with fun activities but screaming kids and being drunk 24-7 isn't us. Our ideal schedule is Bahamas, St. Thomas, and St. Martin, that is why I was looking at Carnival. My first choice was Royal Caribbean.

Resolved Question: Which cruise line is better? Royal Caribbean or Princess?
I am looking into booking a Caribbean cruise for next year, we are looking to go in April or May, I have done alot of researach and Royal Caribbean and Princess keep coming up for the time of year and where we want to go. Any input if one out shines the other? they both seem about the same price, they go to the same stops.
We are a couple that is in our late 30's, early 40's we aren't party animals but we also aren't old folks either. We like good food, a nice drinks, some dancing, we do like casinos, if there is one onboard. We were told to definitely get a balcony room this will be our first cruise. And our first vacation with no kids. One thing we really aren't in to, is the whole formal dinning, tuxedo's and evening gowns, we don't mind dressing up, skirts, dress pants, shirts, we just aren't the formal wear kind of people.

Resolved Question: Going on trip to Alaska through Dawn Princess this month. How to plan the day trips?
The day trip provided by the cruise seems a little expensive. Is that the only way go to? Has anyone booked through other places? What are things to do in Alaska that are not to be missed? The glacier tour and dog sled ride seemed good. They costed around $200 and $500 on the cruise line brochure. Are they worth the money and is there another way to do it? Resolved Question: Do we all need something else except a nursing home?
No Nursing Home for Me
About 2 years ago my wife and I were on a cruise through the western Mediterranean aboard a Princess liner. At dinner we noticed an elderly lady sitting alone along the rail of the grand stairway in the main dining room. I also noticed that all the staff, ships officers, waiters, busboys, etc., all seemed very familiar with this lady. I asked our waiter who the lady was, expecting to be told that she owned the line, but he said he only knew that she had been on board for the last four cruises, back-to-back.
As we left the dining room one evening I caught her eye and stopped to say hello. We chatted and I said, "I understand you've been on this ship for the last four cruises." She replied, "Yes, that's true.! " I stated, "I don't understand" and she replied, without a pause, "It's cheaper than a nursing home."
So, there will be no nursing home in my future. When I get old and feeble, I am going to get on a Princess Cruise Ship.
The average cost for a nursing home is $200 per day. I have checked on reservations on a Princess and I can get a long term discount and senior discount price of $135 per day. That leaves $65 a day for:
1. Gratuities which will only be $10 per day.
2. I will have as many as 10 meals a day if I can waddle to the restaurant, or I can have room service (which means I can have breakfast-in-bed every day of the week).
3. Princess has as many as three swimming pools, a workout room, free washers and dryers, and shows every night.
4. They have free toothpaste and razors, and free soap and shampoo.
5. They will even treat you like a customer, not a patient. An extra $5 worth of tips will have the entire staff scrambling to help you.
6. I will get to meet new people every 7 or 14 days.
7. T. V. broken? Light bulb need changing? Need to have the mattress replaced? No Problem! They will fix everything and apologize for your inconvenience.
. Clean sheets and towels every day, and you don't even have to ask for them.
9. If you fall in the nursing home and break a hip you are on Medicare; if you fall and break a hip on the Princess ship they will upgrade you to a suite for the rest of your life.
Now hold on for the best! Do you want to see South America, the Panama Canal, Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, or name where you want to go?
Princess will have a ship ready to go. So don't look for me in a nursing home, just call shore to ship.
PS: And don't forget, when you die, they just dump you over the side -- at no cost.
Resolved Question: Caribbean Princess Cruise line and Alcohol?
How easy is it to bring alcohol onto a ship? I am going in 10 days and I really don't wish to spend and arm and a leg to drink. I am going on Caribbean Princess. And if you have been on this line, please tell me all about it and you will get the BEST ANSWER!!
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME
Resolved Question: I am looking for contact names for certain cruise lines. Can anyone please help?
I am looking for contact names and email addresses for heads of cruise programming/ shore excursions for the following cruise lines:
Carnival, Princess Cruises, Holland America, Cunard, Seabourn, Aida, Royal Caribbean, MSC Italian Cruises, Costa Cruises, Sea Cloud and Hapag-Lloyd Kreuzfahrten.

Resolved Question: Princesses on a Disney cruise??

Resolved Question: Disney Cruise Line?!?!?
We have 4 kids who LOVE the disney characters! We also love cruising! Although we've only been on Royal Caribbean and loved every minute of it. We were thinking though that we might try A disney cruise. My little girls LOVE the princesses. We wondered wether the princess characters are on the ships? How about pirates, peter pan, etc.? Do you think the kids would like disney cruising as much as Royal Caribbean?? We've already been to Disney world and they loved it but we've decided we like cruising better. But them both in 1 would be great too. Anyone whose been on it could you tell me a little about it? Thanks! Is the service about the same? Is it geared towards the kids? My little ones love disney so naturally we think they'd like it but input please. Anyone whose been on both tell me a little about it. Thanks agian!
we don't gamble or drink so thats not an issue but is there a spa on-board? Also we are Disney freaks!!

Resolved Question: My Australian relative is joining a Princess offhore cruise to St. Ptersburg, does he need a Russian visa?
I was told that if you are a US citizen or Canadian, you do not need any visa casue you are under the umberlla of Princess cruise line, other than that you need to check with your counsulate. He did and did not get any clear answer, does anyone know? Or is there any Australian friend took the Princess cruise and its St. Pertersburg excursion?
Resolved Question: Princess Cruise Line cost of spa services?
The web site gives no actual prices? Does any one know the price of the Swedish massage? Or the couples massage? Is it different on at sea days? I'm reluctant to commit without an actual price quote. Oh, we will be on the Emerald Princess if that makes a difference.
Resolved Question: What's a better cruise line, Carnival or Princess?
We have cruised with Royal Carribean and we loved it. My wife and I are 28 and 30 years old and want a cruise line that isn't all older people. We enjoy the bars, clubs, parties, but also good food and a nice, clean ship. What would you recommend?
Resolved Question: Which Cruise Line Has The Best Drinks ??
I have been on four different cruise lines (RC, NCL, Princess, & Celebrity) and noticed that the drinks are not all the same on them. By not the same I mean how strong or how much alcohol they contain. For me, a good drink will give you a buzz. I noticed on Princess that they had an automated alcohol dispenser for drinks that measured a precise shot for each drink. So their drinks tended to be weak vs those done where the bartender could add a little. And on Royal Caribbean I noticed that if you order one of the frozen drinks, especially one of the daily specials that is frozen, like a daiquiri, they bring the drink with the alcohol on the side and pour it in as they serve it.
If you have been on 2, 3 or 4 cruise lines, or more, which cruise line had/has the best drinks??? And Why????
Resolved Question: Cruise Lines...?
I have been on two cruises...both Disney. First I went on a 3-day cruise, loved it, and then went on a 7 day cruise. However, my parents are saying that Disney is hands down more expensive than most other cruise lines (althougj I think the money is worth it.) So they say the next cruise we go on...possibly next spring break...won't be Disney. They have been on a Princess cruise by themselves and I think that is the line that we might end up going on. But my question is what cruise lines are better than others? Which ones do you enjoy most?

Resolved Question: Looking for best Alaskan cruise for family with 3 kids, 13, 13 and 10. Which line would you recommend?
We want a summer cruise through gulf, either direction. Want to see a glacier or two up close, and some Alaskan towns.
Have a 10 year old social butterfly girl, needs people to interact with. Also 13 year old twin boys into video games and swimming pools. They don't need social and probably would avoid it as they are each other's best friends. Maybe some cute girls.
Wife and I want good food, casual atmosphere, not party animals. Nice stateroom. Probably oceanview.
Priorities are
1. itinerary (Anchorage - Seattle/Vancouver either way)
2. appropriate for pre and early teens
3. glacier views, wildlife and scenery, towns to see
4. comfort, food, exercise, pools etc
Appear to have choice of Carnival Spirit
Celebrity Millennium

I am trying to decide between Holland America Oosterdamm and Princess star. I would appreciate advise on which cruise line would be best for my family. Please only respond if you have traveled on both lines.
The order of importance for me are the following
1. Stateroom quality

5. Childrens activities
6. Excursions
Resolved Question: Which Cruise Line?
I've cruised with Celebrity 7 times and LOVED them. I want a cruise that goes round trip from New York and this year, it doesn't seem like they have much departing from the east coast- they're focusing more on Europe.
I definetly do not want Carnival and am considering Princess, Royal Carribean and Holland America. Anyone have any experience with any of these cruise lines?
Thanks!
Resolved Question: What are the "personalities" of the various Mexican cruise lines?
Holland America I've heard is for older (avg age 62) clients, great service.
Princess for younger, but "romantic"
What about Royal Carribbean or Celebrity or others?
The reason I ask is that I'd like to cruise with my 15y.o. teen daughter and want her to not feel out of place (me also!).
Correct me if I was wrong above, I was just reading some other posts.
