Okay. long story. about...2 years ago i was at the boone county fair. and ive had a history of sneezing problems, as in, ill sneeze up to 25-30 times, and i have no idea why. i was at the fair and i started sneezing a lot, i became miserable...eyes were pufffy and red, runny nose, snivels. after a while the cold symptoms went away, but i was smoking cigarettes the whole night...Im curious as to wether sneezing so many times in a row can cause stomache damage, or lower esophegal sphincter damage. that night i felt extremely sick and thought i was going to vomit, but i never did, and since then ive only gotten physically sick one time...but the discomfort and nausea is still there almost all the time.my most recent symptom is i wake up a couple hours earlier then normal every morning, involuntarily, because i have a pain in my stomach. after i eat the pain slowly fades, but its very discomforting in the morning when im trying to sleep. i was puton prescriptions for a while, they were all proton pump inhibators like protonix, omeprazole, or pantoprazole. they helped the problem in the upper esophegas but i still have lower esophegal pain all the time. anyone else suffer from this?? it sounds pretty rare because i dont know who sneezes 30 times in a row like i did. ill be going to the doctor soon and hopefully he can help me. thanks a lot for reading this if you finally got to this point...its a long one.

Resolved Question: Do you have to take Aciphex 30-60 minutes before a meal like Prontonix?
I had been using Protonix and had to take it 30-60 minutes before a meal. My doc late yesterday gave me samples of Aciphex because the Prontonix appears not to be helping anymore my larynx/silent reflux. I forgot to ask him if with Aciphex there is the 30-60 wait or it can be taken right before/after a meal? Thanks.
Voting Question: How long can you take Protonix?
I have been on it 2 months and was starting to feel great. I had taken too much NSAID for a back ache which caused my need for Protonix. 3 days after stopping, I had the worse hearburn ever and went ahead and started it again. Can you ever quit? I don't want to be taking medication forever.....
Resolved Question: Does this sound like a gastrointestinal infection to you? Please help!?
I woke yesterday, feeling queasy. I ate cereal for breakfast; an apple, pear, yogurt, homemade veggie soup & a few salt-free crackers for supper. This morning, woke to vomit & went back to sleep. I finally had a small bowl of cereal arount 2 p.m. Diarrhea kicked in about 4p.m. I had some strange sensations in my left abdominal area- deep in? Around 7 p.m. I ate plain white rice and fruit cocktail very slowly. For a few hours now, queasiness is kicking in- along with frequent burps (that taste like vomit- even though it's been over 12 hours). YUCK!
I'm confused primarily because I have GERD. I've also gotten seriously dehydrated twice w/ a GI infection, despite focing myself to drink. Don't know if I should just wait it out, or see a doctor?? I take phenobarbital, anti-depressant, mood stabalizer, and protonix.
Voting Question: Is there anything I CAN eat with my acid reflux disease?
I have severe acid reflux, and I just had that endoscopic procedure done where they stick a scope down my throat and look into my stomach. My stomach and my esophagus are severely inflamed, and it's driving me absolutely nuts! I've become underweight, not only that but I'm miserable and I'm driving my husband insane with my constant complaint of burning and nausea! My doctor prescribed protonix and reglam and I've been taking the protonix for a week now and its not helping! All I can find on the internet is what I CAN'T EAT...so what CAN I eat??? Help!
Resolved Question: Anyone have an idea what this is?
This may be a bit long, but please hear me out, I'm thinking about ending my life over this (it may seem stupid but 'not knowing' is driving me insane)
I'd like you guys to help me do the impossible and aid me in finding out what this problem is. It started on June 6th, 3 months ago. I went on a drinking binge and had 3 hard drinking sessions, one at night, one the next morning, then the next night I tried gin for the first time.
After drinking about half a bottle of gin, I got short of breath, so I stopped (keep in mind I've drank more alcohol than this, so likely a reaction w/ the gin). I wokeup the next day, still short of breath and with a cough sensation near my trachea, like a constant tickle.
Since that day I've been from doctor to doctor. I've had an EKG, lung workup, Chest X-Ray, blood tests, an barium swallow test, an endoscopy, a laryngoscopy, a naturopathic assessment, acupuncture, and homeopathic treatment,
Everything came up negative, and the alternative medicine is giving me ideas but they aren't curing me.
Let me make it clear that, no, I do not have the new fallacious title of "GERD", that is a condition created by the pharmaceutical company that basically means "acid indigestion". I was thoroughly tested for it as I tried Aciphex, Zegerid, Protonix, Zantac, Pepcid AC, Prilosec, and tons of OTC and home remedies for "heartburn", but what I have is not heartburn, as it was unresponsive to all of these things. Also, the endoscopy showed no inflammation or irritation, and the laryngoscopy showed nothing as well.
The symptoms are an extremely intense throat tickle that is persistent throughout the day, regardless of what I eat, when I eat, or how I eat. It does not hurt to swallow at all. Often times the cough will subside and turn into a heat that goes around the neck, even to the back of the neck and shoulders that spreads to my arm at times.
At this point, my doctors are pinning it on psychological factors, however, I have no history of having psychological symptoms. This just happened overnight, and I'm open to the idea that I may be "manifesting my own symptoms", but I feel that it is physical.
I've became severely depressed, feel like my life is ruined, and get nostalgic for when I didn't have to deal with this. I feel like a completely different person because my well-being has been torn away by this mysterious intense tickle/burning that never ceases and has no explanation whatsoever aside from "gin" possibly bringing it on.
I have tried the spiritual route, people telling me that I have to "let something out" or "accept it", that's BS, I tried that and it didn't work. I changed my diet, stopped drinking, etc. it's still here.
The only 2 other things that my doctor(s) can think of is a thyroid problem or allergies. I've never had allergies to anything ever, and the mostlikely possible allergy would be the birds in my house that aren't mine (staying temporarily, been here for 6 years).
I'd like any help I could possibly get, I am losing my mind. My doctor (who is a very good doctor and an expensive one) has basically told me she's seen cancer patients with less mysterious/odd symptoms and that my problem was beyond her expertise and likely psychological.
It's stopping me from functioning, I had to leave college for the day twice because I got so anxious/nostalgic and didn't feel like myself. I even got scammed by a fake naturopath until I found a real one, that's how desperate I am.
I 'd really like some advice...thanks.
Hi Nataly, yes I've had a spirometer and flow meter test (hence, 'lung workup'..I saw a pulmonologist).
As far as "acid reflux disease", the term "acid reflux" is a recently invented word. The term didn't exist that long ago. I am aware that some people get real bad indigestion, but I've researched the hell out of that problem as well, it's not a disease, it's a condition. It can be reversed by changing your body from an acidic state to an alkaline state. I do not have this problem though.
Sorry if I offended you though, I know many people who suffer from indigestion and my mom by definition has "acid reflux". Please believe me when I say that it is not a "permanent disease". Google "Cureyourheartburn" if you want to find a way to reverse it. Anyway, I like helping people any time I can, looking for help myself though now ;) hehe.

Resolved Question: My husband has heartburn from chemotherapy. I don't know how to help relieve his pain.?
He is doubling over in pain. He is taking Protonix, Pepcid and Maalox. He called the doctor yesterday. He told him to try the Pepcid. I'm desperate for help. If anyone has any idea how I can help him please let me know. I'm at my whits end. Thanks.
Resolved Question: Am I obsessive/paranoid about this?
Ok, so June 6th I drank some gin for the first time, got out of breath, wokeup the next day with a cough sensation in my trachea. Had every test done, EKG, Chest X-Ray, liver/gallbladder ultrasound, pulmonogy/lung function tests, endoscopy, barium swallow, all of it was negative.
I was put on a trial of pills, from antibiotics, to ativan, to every h2 blocker, PPI/antacid out there including Protonix, Zegerid, etc. None of it did anything.
I frantically searched things online all summer, and now I have a lot of burping, bloating, fatigue, heart palpitations, and a sore/irritated throat with the cough.
I went to an ENT today, gave him my history, and he did a visualization of my trachea. He went down with a laryngoscope all the way to the windpipe and even put it on a screen so I could see. There was no irritation, no signs of any reflux.
I get the pain/burning/cough constantly, all day, no flare ups, no food-related issues. He said if it was that frequent, "LPR/GERD/Reflux" would show up on the laryngoscope or the endoscopy, or at least be responsive to the pills.
He's evaluating me for thyroid problems because he says that exact spot of pain is where the thyroid is.
I felt so much relief after hearing the laryngoscope found nothing, but when I went home I started searching up stuff again (stupid me) and started finding obscure medical polls and random people saying "You can have LPR with no laryngoscopy signs!" etc. I started feeling sicker as I read it, and now I'm freaking out again. I feel like I need to go BACK to the ENT just so he can look at it again and re-assure me.
Is this psychological? How do I get this out of my head? I am very analytical and it is hard for me to get things out of my head once they get in. I was feeling great once I got the results from the laryngoscoping, even my burping decreased, but now that I read just 2 or three obscure websites that say "you can still have it without a laryngoscope sign" (which makes no sense) I am freaking out and feeling worse.
Can someone help me with some advice? There may be something wrong, like a thyroid problem, but I'm not sure.
Voting Question: how to prevent heartburn?
Im under medication for heartburn. i tried protonix and the purple pill. They do work, but once i runt out, my heartburn comes right back. i know eating yogurt also works for me. if you've got heartburn, how do u control it? my doctor already told me i might have heartburn disease for good, all he can do is prescribe me pills and follow a diet.
Resolved Question: If you take heartburn medication (prilosec, protonix, nexium, etc) can you still get food coming up?
I've taken almost every kind of heartburn medication there is.. and it DOES get rid of the burning feeling, but food still goes up my throat and out my mouth, and it's disgusting.. anyone else have this?
Resolved Question: Why does food keep coming back up, undigested, 10 minutes after eating?
I went to my doctor couple times this month, for heartburn and stomachaches, and she prescribed protonix 40 mg (prilosec didn't work for me). I've taken it now for a week, and there are immediate results - no more burning in my chest.. but food still goes up - I get this strong urge to burp, and a whole bunch of undigested food comes out of my mouth, I'm not sure if it's considered throwing up, because I can somewhat control it, but it's very uncomfortable and gross.. I'm not sure why I still have this, while my acid is gone. I also just feel sick to my stomach, this uncomfortable feeling in my stomach, and a lot of bloating. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Resolved Question: Why am I still getting heartburn?
I was having bad heartburn, went to the doctor, was diagnosed with GERD. I started taking Prevacid, which worked for about 6 months. Then the heartburn comes back full force. My doctor switched my medication to Protonix and the heartburn went away again. But now, only 3 months later, the heartburn is back! I have had an upper endoscopy, and there is no ulcer. So why does my heartburn keep coming back?
Resolved Question: Can someone tell me what this is?
I'm a 21 year old slightly overweight but healthy male. I had been drinking a lot prior to this situation but just wine every night or almost every night. On June 6th I tried gin for the first time and I've had other hard liquors before. I drank it on an empty stomach mixed with lemon juice and ginger ale (I don't usually mix, was experimenting). I drank half the bottle and started feeling the need to take deep breaths so I stopped.
In the morning I had the same sensation, and a cough/irritation below my throat. I had every test done including EKG/Gallbladder & Liver scan/endoscopy/barium swallow/blood tests/allergies etc. all were negative aside from the endoscopy finding a 3-4 cm sliding hiatal hernia, which was so small it didn't show on the barium swallow and doesn't coincide w/ my symptoms since they happened instantly.
I was put on all types of antacids and PPI's because they thought it was acid reflux. I took Zantac/PepcidAC/Protonix/Zegerid/Aciphex etc. nothing helped. After trying those plus antibiotics and ativan because they thought it was psychological, I started burping a lot. I burp all the time now, especially when I sit up or after I eat(not when I lay down at all).
I don't burp up food, but I get an indigestion feeling like an "mmmph" as if I've eaten too much, even on an empty stomach. My tongue is coated white/yellow. My breath is worse in the morning, and I still have a cough/irritation between my collar bones that gets worse when I take a deep breath (feels air related, not swallow related).
I don't regurgitate food nor do I regurgitate acid. I don't get any heartburn and none of the antacid pills have helped. The endoscopy showed no inflammation or irritation. No one knows what it is but all I know is it started to happen after I drank the gin. I haven't drank any alcohol and I'm eating a good diet, small meals, all the recommendations for stomach issues.
I'm getting acupuncture and treatment through a naturopath, they have some good ideas, and are trying, but I have not been "cured" yet. I am wondering if any of you could give me some info on how gin could cause this and what it could be? I have a very very hearty stomach, I collect hot sauces and used to eat habanero sauce and very very large meals. I have a very high alcohol tolerance and never had this problem before, even after copious amounts, it's so strange.
All I can think of is the day that I drank the gin, I had Japanese food for lunch (Sushi and teriaki beef) along with some spicy beef jerky (the kind they keep in the plastic vats). I've had it before so I'm not sure if perhaps I contracted some stomach bug from the food and the gin aggravated it? I have no idea, but this has lasted 2 months and I'm freaking out.
Here are my stats taken by the naturopath:
Ph of 5.8 (acidic)
A pulse of 91 beats per minute
Good blood pressure and zinc levels
Low overall cholesterol, 125
High triglycerides (TG's) 137
Very low good cholesterol (HDL) 36
Very low calcium 150
Low bad cholesterol (LDL) which is a good thing, 61
A bit high in the glucose at 98 when the range is 80-95 and found my TC : HDL to be 3.4
Body fat percentage 24.7%
Only serious answers please, and thank you for reading.
I saw a pulmonologist who did a spirometer and flow meter test for the lungs, it came out fine. My main symptom is an irritation below my neck near the collar bones, it's constant. The shortness of breath has lessened since that day.
I had a lot of stress right before this happened, transmission had problems, had to reformat computer, etc. I have college as well and that is also a bit stressful but I don't feel "stressed" right now, I feel calm. Is it possible to still be stressed even though you feel fine? I also notice my leg shakes a lot (restless leg) since this started.
I'm usually not anxious or hypochondriac-like but these sensations are new to me and very unsettling.
I also want to add that ever since this started, my bowel movements have been strange. They drop out in strange pieces that fall to the bottom of the toilet and never float. They have a "scattered" "dirt-like" quality with this powdery/murky stuff coming out of them floating all around, it looks like tiny little dots. When I flush, it all billows up in a huge cloud as if flushing flour that has sat on the bottom of the toilet bowl.
This can't just be "GERD", this makes no sense. Something is in my stomach?
Resolved Question: 19 Year Old College Student with a medical question that is heart related.?
I am 19 year old college student who really has had good health throughout my life. Back in November I was hospitalized due to heart pain, which they chalked up to being paracarditis. A few weeks later the pain went away and I was pain free until February. Since February I have had pain just under the area where my arm and chest meet on the left side. At times I also get a kind of minor numbness pain in my left arm, as well as a weird feeling as if I was excited, and need to catch my breath for a second, like 4 times a month at least. I have gone to all kinds of doctors and gotten all kinds of tests, all of which show I have perfect health and provide no answers. I've gotten EKGs, Ecocardio Grams, a Cat Scan or MRI forgot which one, and tried various medicines (mainly anti inflammatory because they thought it was residual inflammation which it was not). I've never had anything like this before, and I'm pretty sure no heart problems run in my family other than the occasional high blood pressure relative, and maybe one with a heart murmur. I do get bad cases of heart burn from time to time but have been taking Protonix for a while now to deal with that. Any thoughts, or possible answers??
Resolved Question: I struggle with painful gas and excessive belching after eating. I can't seem to find a cure. What do I do?
I belch all the time, but of course it's much worse after eating, and it doesn't seem to be triggered by a specific type of food (although I have given up carbonated drinks). The belching only briefly relieves the intense bloating and fullness. I can feel incredibly full after only eating half a sandwich. This has been pretty manageable most of my life, until recently, when nausea and vomiting have recently started when I get really bloated. I love food, and now I dread meal times because I never know when it's going to act up. If it act's up, I'm pretty much useless. I'm a 24 year old male in good shape with no serious health problems.
My family doc has cleared me on all kinds of stuff with a blood test and upper GI. I've tried protonix, reglan, and tons of otc stuff. Nothing has worked very well at all. I'm a teacher and coach and am really struggling to maintain an active life right now, suggestions?
Resolved Question: Mysterious Instant Stomach Troubles
Going to be as brief as possible: 21, male, healthy. Large build 230, 6'2. Drank wine a bit consistently for 5-6 months, no problems. Drank other hard liquor in the past, no problems. Tried Gin on June 6th, half a bottle (Seagram's Extra Dry mixed with lemon juice and ginger ale..I don't usually mix, was doing so for fun). Immediately noticed I had to keep taking deep breaths/out of breath sensation, stopped. Not sure if the Japanese food (sushi etc.) could've had an impact. Drank Jack Daniels and rot gut vodka before, so it was not a matter of tolerance or alcohol exposure.
Next day woke up to a feeling below the throat, felt like a constant need to cough. Went to the doctor...EKG, Chest X-Ray, Barium Swallow, Spirometer/Flow Meter (lung test), Gallbladder Liver scan, all negative. Endoscopy showed a very very small 3-4 cm sliding hiatal hernia, deemed asymptomatic (does not produce symptoms) as it was so small it didn't even show on the Barium Swallow X-ray. Endoscopy showed no irritation, irregularities or inflammation. Allergy tests showed nothing, Clarinex did nothing.
Symptoms are: Constant cough/irritation between collar bones, murky/powdery stools (as if you were to flush powder from the bottom of the toilet bowl and it billows up), sinus congestion, excessive burping, extreme fatigue, minor heart palpitations, yellow/white coated tongue, hurts to take a deep breath. Spaced out/tired after eating, worse than the "after turkey meal feeling". Excessive salivation/sweet tasting salivation. Hear an intermittent sound like gas escaping through my esophagus to my neck when I lie down. No heartburn whatsoever. Odd sour taste at back of mouth.
No history of any problems, no history of hypochondria, not psychological (Ativan and other sedatives did nothing). Antibiotics did nothing.
A homeopath suggested Nux Vomica, did nothing but calm me mentally.
Acid reflux/GERD was suggested, took Prilosec, Zantac, Pepcid AC, no effect. Moved to PPI's (strongest stuff they got), Protonix/Aciphex/Zegerid, did nothing.
It has been 2 months, the symptoms persist despite diet changes. Suggestions regarding a decrease in weight were made. Factors of environment include mold under my water bed that has grown over the years due to frequent popping of the tubes. A plan to replace the bed is underway. It has been suggested that the mold is causing this, or perhaps a Candida Albicans yeast overgrowth, however, the reaction to the Gin was sudden, instant, and very acute. I felt no symptoms whatsoever prior to consumption.
5 doctors, a gastroenterologist, a pulmonary specialist, 10 health coach's/nurses from the insurance company, a renowned medical researcher, and a famous health expert who exposed a pharmaceutical scam had no clue whatsoever, and were completely baffled.
I have gotten some guidance from a Chinese medicine woman/acupuncturist and am undergoing treatment through TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine).
Nevertheless, I am asking for your opinions. Do not tell me I have "GERD" or "acid reflux disease", those ailments are not diseases, and my symptoms/tests defy such a diagnosis. I am more knowledgeable about Acid Reflux/GERD than most doctors at this point, and I know I don't have it. I know every test used to detect it, and every "health tip" recommended for it, so don't waste my time or yours by spamming it.
I am looking for alternative causes.
Thank you

Resolved Question: drinking with Protonix?
i just started taking Protonix for my acid reflux & was wondering if it was okay to drink alcohol on it?
Voting Question: Anxiety and worry. Can it make you feel bad?
Hi guys, I'm a 16 year old male, and I worry a lot about my health. I have never been very sick in my life, and I've always been pretty healthy, even though I'm a little overweight. But last year, I started having stomach pain, heartburn, etc. It worried me, so I went to the doctor. He diagnosed me with Gerd, and put me on Protonix for 6 weeks. It helped my heartburn, but didn't get rid of the stomach pain I was having. So I went back to him. He then ordered an Ultrasound on my abdomen. They checked everything, and said I was fine. The doc just told me to take Zantac, and exercise. I have been doing that, but not much success. Anyway, what I came to say, is that ever since then, I have been worried about me health, it has migrated from gerd, to every part of my body. For example, if my head hurts, I think I've got a tumor, or if my back hurts, I think something is wrong with my kidneys. Pretty much anything, anywhere, if there is a pain, I worry about it. And worrying seems to make it worse. Before I started worrying, I felt good most all the time, now, I rarely ever feel good. Is this the side effects of worry?
Voting Question: What works as well as Nexium for Acid Reflux?
What works as well as Nexium for acid reflux? My Dr. prescribed Nexium because Protonix wasn't working for me but my insurance says no.
Resolved Question: What is the best med for gerd?
My husband has a chronic gerd problem and we are having a hard time figuring out what type of meds would be best for him. We have tried many and it seems like the only thing that works is Protonix. Is there another med that works just as well and that Medicaid will cover?
Resolved Question: Gerd/Acid Reflux Question: My dr. put me on Protonix and told me to stay off of caffeine. I'm feeling a lot
better now. Is it okay to drink coffee again?
Resolved Question: I have acid reflux. What can I do to make it feel better until I see the doctor on Monday?
I started having acid reflux a month ago. The doctor prescribed me Protonix and it didn't work. Then Prevacid which DID work but I think the dosage was just too small, and it came back within a week. I have to wait till Monday to see the doctor so what can I do till then to ease my symptoms? Any over the counter meds? Pepcid doesn't really work for me.
My symptoms are pain/discomfort in upper abdominal pain, sour taste in mouth, extreme belching.

Resolved Question: What's wrong with me?! Dizziness, fainting upon standing, & more...?
Okay, so I spent some time in the hospital last week. I was getting very pale, felt dizzy and like fainting upon standing, was having black, tarry stools. I had an upper endoscopy done (while AWAKE mind you) and they did blood work. They told me I had no BLEEDING ulcers, that my gas-reflux was harming my esophagus though, and that my hemoglobin was 7.4 when it should be 12. So they put me on Protonix and Zofran, I must take Iron and stay away from anything with Aspirin/Ibuprofen/Naproxe... and try to cut out a lot of caffeine and gave me two units of blood. I felt better. But since getting out I have started to get a little dizzy again and my diarrhea is black and tarry just like it was. I don't get it. I don't put ANY pills in my mouth aside from the ones they told me to take. I cut out a lot of caffeine. I'm 25/female/had a gastric bypass & gall bladder removal in 2003. Help! If I left anything out, ask please.
Voting Question: this is regarding stomach problems?
ok hes my story...
on march 28 2008 it was my birthday so i decided to drink heavy that night.but that night i remember getting
sick and throwing up.so since that day i been getting stomach aches in the middle of my somach above the belly bottom.so i decided to go to a GI doctor and her perform that exam where they put the tube in your mouth.and he found a hital hernia very small one.everything else was ok he did a oltro-sound and my gallbadder and liver was ok.
he gave me medications from protonix, pilosec, zegerid to tums, etc months went by and i call him and told him it wasnt working so he made appointment to do a cats scan and that was normal.
so i stil contine to have these issues so i went to a diff GI doctor for a second opinion who sent me to do a barium swallowing test which that test was normal also.but i still get stomach aches.

Resolved Question: Why can't i get a deep breathe and have chest pain?
5 weeks ago i was having a tought time breathing when i would exercise and after. I went to the doctor and he said i have exercise induced asthma and he gave me an inhaler I started to take the inhaler and continued to exercise and it felt worse. I went to see another doctor and she did a test and found out i had no asthma and she did an ekg. She recommended that I go to a cardioligist. I went to the cardioligist and she said i had a healthy heart and nothing was wrong. finally i went back to the doctor and she gave me allergy medicine and protonix because she said i might have acid reflux. What it comes down is i either have acid reflux or costochronditis. Whenever i try to get a deep breathe i have to try to yawn to get the breathe and its really hard. sometimes i feel like my throat is clogged up and it feels weird when i swallow. The doctor recommend that i go c a gastrointologist. idk what to do im trying to stall for time but i dont seem to b getting better. Please help m

Resolved Question: I'm looking for a Pill Size Chart. Anyone ever seen/have one? Show sizes of prescription medicine - printable
I have always had problems with pills that my doctors prescribe and I'm always had to take the route of asking if they make a liquid or if they make something that I can crush. Well, sometimes they don't make a certain prescription medicine in liquid or it's a time-released pill (and can't be crushed/broken up).
I know my doc is going to prescribe some medicine for me this week after my surgery and I know he's going to want me on it for a long time.
I was curious if there was any website out there that showed the different/actual sizes of different pills? I know they have sites that show you pictures of the pills, but I was hoping to find an accurate listing of how big these pills are. It's hard to know by just a picture.
PS...I'm probably going to be on some sort of PPI medicine like Prevacid, Protonix or Nexium. I know the Prevacid has a Solutab, but it's really pricey. I'm trying to get a generic and I can't take a huge pill. I literally choke on anything (even Tylenol).
Resolved Question: Is Protonix or Pepcid AC safe to take while you are prenant and breastfeeding?
I have HORRIBLE acid reflux and HAVE to take something for it.
Resolved Question: eosinophilia?
I have eosinophilia in my esophagus. Eosinophils are white blood cells that react to an allergy. Basically I have too many of those cells and they mirgrate to my esophagus causing me pain. I was just wondering if anybody knew of any medicines I can try. I have been on tagament, zyrtec, singular, and protonix. Any other suggestions? Thanks
Voting Question: Four days of pain behind my breast bone when I swallow. Blood and xrays show nothing. What could it be?
Been to three different ER's for the pain. The first two just gave me an upper GI concoction. Little relief. The third did blood work and X-Rays. They came back fine. I can't eat, sleep, even drink liquids. What could it be? I am so frustrated and at my wits end. I feel as though no one is believing me and that they don't want to listen. I have lost about 5 lbs. thus far and I am sure I will continue to lose if I can't eat soon. Please could someone give some ideas of what to have the doctors look for and to what doctor I should seek out. I can't take much more. I am on Ativan and Protonix to help with the symptoms, but there is still no relief.
Resolved Question: Cheaper substitute for Protonix?
I was prescribed Protonix for an ulcer, but I do not have insurance (yes I am working on getting it) and I can't afford it - a month's worth is over $400! Is there anything else I could ask to be prescribed that will work similarly but cost less? Please don't suggest OTC antacids like Tums or whatever because they will make it worse. Yes, obviously I am going to talk to my doctor about it, just trying to get some info on my own.
Resolved Question: Why do i loose my voice, hard to swallow and constantly clear my throat?

Resolved Question: MED. PRO ONLY, PLEASE! MDMA (Ecstasy) + Perforated Bowel?
A friend of mine was recently (a week ago) hospitalized and had emergency surgery for a perforated bowel. He has been taking Protonix since the surgery and still has 3 weeks to go.
He is planning to turn over a new leaf and get healthier but he is considering taking Ecstasy one more time with his girl.
I have read that Ecstasy can cause ulcers so I am concerned that taking it will cause his stomach problems to re-occur.
PLEASE: Both I and he are FULLY aware that Ecstasy is an illegal drug, and are FULLY aware of all of the mental, physical, social and legal risks involved, so please spare me the "Mr. Mackey" answers. I don't need to hear that you think "Drugs are bad, Mm'kay."
All I want to know is, does he have any increased risk of any kind of side effects from taking a normal dose (2 pills, average strength, 150 pound guy) compared to before this happened? Specifically, is there a chance that he could re-perforate? Also, any interactions with the Protonix?
Before this happened he only took Ecstasy maybe 3 times a year. That's not what caused it. The doctors said it was stress and cigarettes.
He's NOT addicted! God! I said he only takes it 3 times a year! If that's addiction sucks for all you ppl who drink every weekend!
That wasn't directed @ you, Dale.

Resolved Question: Peptic ulcer?
I am 27 years old and I recently had a baby (7 weeks ago). Since then, I've been having a dull pain and bloating around my upper stomach, by my breast bone. It gets worse after eating, and the discomfort sometimes radiate to my back and chest. My obgyn said it has nothing to do with recently having a baby and assumes it's just heartburn. I've been taking protonix, with no relief. I am going back to my GI doctor next week. Has anyone has a peptic ulcer and does it sound like what I am experiencing?
It's almost constant and is made worse after eating, no matter what I eat. It is usually worse at night.

Resolved Question: Anyone take pills for acid reflux while pregnant?
In particular, Protonix??
Resolved Question: Anxiety- Fear of getting sick in public?
I have been a very anxious person all of my life but now that I have a stomach ulcer, I have been feeling sick to my stomach more often than ever. Recently, I have been developing an irrational fear of going out to crowded public places (particularly, sit down food establishments) because I am afraid that I will become sick there, and possibly even vomit there. I have never thrown up in public before, but for me its a very real fear.. and i HATE IT! i used to go out to eat alllll the time. I think it mostly stems from not only fearing vomit completely, but also the fact that my ulcer gets very upset about 10 min after I finish eating and I hate to be sitting in a restaurant when I start to get that nauseous/painful feeling. I have tried some acid reducer meds including Protonix but I had bad side effects, reactions. so Now im considering talking to my doctor about possible anxiety meds.. does anyone have similiar problems.fears? or recommendation for good anxiety meds?
