  • Open Question: Toshiba a305 laptop: Special Intel 965 mobile chip-set. S-Video, no TV setting. Can I force a driver change? ?
I have a Toshiba A305 S6859 Laptop. Dual Core, 2 Gigahertz processors, 4 gigs of RAM. It has S-video output, but no "Television" setting for output. I KNOW that the system specs and chipset are capable of "television" output- I've seen the screen-captures for the driver configuration screens.. How do I force a driver change? When I try to download the Intel driver I want, it tries to tell me to download a Toshiba-configured driver. HELP! What's the point of an S-Video port with no output capabilities? This seems like a cheap money-saving ploy.
  • Open Question: Problem with television?
I have a Toshiba 27AF43 television. I started seeing white lines in the top of the screeen coming down about 2 inches. I looked online and found it was probably a bad capacitor in the vertical deflection section. I opened the TV and found the spot on the bord that says V-out, but I can't seem to find the required capacitors (C406 - C409). I also notcied this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/2001championsr6/Image007.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/2001championsr6/Image004.jpg Is this a capacitor that leaked or is the white stuff just some silicone or something? This cap is number C521, could it be my poblem? Any info would be great.

  • Voting Question: What is causing my flat screen TV to flicker and lose color?
I have a Toshiba flat screen television, and shortly after getting it several problems arose. They're not all apparent when the TV is first turned on, but after an hour or so it gets progressively worse until it becomes difficult to watch the television. The first thing that is apparent when the TV is turned on is the color problems. Areas with gradient shading have obvious boundaries between shades, instead of being a smooth transition through colors. Red objects are only red on the edges. The middle is an orange color. This gets worse over time until the edges are dark orange and the middle is a yellowish orange. After several minutes the screen begins to flicker. This is especially noticeable in black areas, around the edges of the screen, and lettering. It very rapidly goes between the regular coloration and slightly lighter coloring. This becomes more noticeable over time. These problems are annoying, but they don't seriously detract from the viewing experience. The final problem, which appears after about an hour and rapidly gets worse, is where a greenish image of whatever is on the screen appears for a very small fraction of a second and disappears. At first this will happen once or twice per minute, but after around five minutes it's happening as much as the screen flickering. Does anyone know what is causing this, and what steps are needed to fix it? Thanks.

  • Resolved Question: Yellow is greenish on a new LCD TV?
I have a new Toshiba 40RV525U television that replaced an old CRT TV that was well past its expiration date. The new picture is great, but some of the hues seemed off so I did some side by side tests comparing colors on the new LCD screen vs. on my laptop screen, and I noticed that the "pure" yellow came out on the TV as being kind of yellowish green. I tried adjusting the tint, but that just made it an orange-ish yellow instead of a greenish yellow. Is this just the way HD TVs are, is there a setting I don't know about, or is the one I have defective?

  • Voting Question: How much should I sell my Toshiba 56" HDTV 1080p for?
I have a Toshiba HDTV with an in Home Waranty. My only problem is that the Warranty Company does not have a contract with any repair people in a 60 mile radius of me. They said we could get it fixed out of pocket and they would reimburse. The only thing they would need is for the work and price to be ok prior to the repair. They said the repair company can call them on the spot to ok it. We don't have the money to even pay for a service call out here let alone to pay for the repair up front. I was told by different repair people and the warranty company the color wheel needs to be replaced. We thought about selling it. It is in the way and really need the money for the holidays!! The buyer would receive the television, remote, manuals, and the transferable warranty (has about 3.5 years left on it.) I listed it on Craigslist and I have had a ton of people email wanting to know how much I want for it. ( As much as I can get hahah!!) Seriously, I have researched to find out how much a fixable tv with a warranty is selling for. Cant really find anything. I find broke ones and working ones. None really with warranty unless they are new. I don't know how to put a price on it that is reasonable to others. I can tell you that I would not consider $200-300 reasonable. This television can be repaired and the cost reimbursed (or if you are in an area they have technicians, repaired at no out of pocket at all!!) and have a working WONDERFUL 1080p HDTV Toshiba 56" Television with a warranty still good for 3.5 years. What is that worth????

  • Resolved Question: meaning of 'how to put this back together'?
Fewer laptop computers shipped from China spells less demand for chips. Last week, Toshiba — Japan’s largest chip maker — said it lost $275 million from July to September, blaming its troubles on a world glut. Lower demand for flat-screen televisions means less need for flat-panel glass displays. This month, Samsung, the Korean electronics giant, said a global oversupply in that item caused its biggest dip in quarterly profits in three years. Now, a glut of products may be building in the United States. Orders for trucks used by business have plummeted. Investments in industrial equipment are declining. Yet inventories have grown. “I worry about an economy that looks like Japan,” said Barry P. Bosworth, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. “We’re going to be struggling with how to put this back together again for several more years.” question: meaning of 'how to put this back together'. thanks

  • Resolved Question: Getting a Comcast Remote to work with my Toshiba TV?
I have a Toshiba 53ax62 television set and a comcast remote. It is the basic one that came with the cable box...i believe they call it the 3 device universal remote...and I cannot seem to get it to work with my tv. When I try to have the remote tell me the code it comes up with 20503. When I put this on my remote the TV button blinks twice, but none of the controls work with the TV. Is this a problem with the sensor (it worked until about August 20th when I discontinued service and now on Sept. 2nd the new remote won't work), or is it a problem with the remote? If anyone has this TV and knows a code that works...or has suggestions for Toshiba codes I'd be thankful. I tried all the codes comcast gave me and it still didn't work.

When I turned it back on it's the same thing and the other TV we have is working fine. What could be wrong with the TV and how much will this cost to fix it?
