  • Open Question: How can you tell if you have a miscarriage?
): so im about 20 weeks, YOUNG (i mean not even 19 yet), and im starting to feel sick. At first, i went in for an ultrasound, (at 8 weeks) and the lady said that it was perfectly healthy, actually, it was a little bigger than most babys at that time. i've never taken an aspirin in my life, and i have no history of having any medical problems. about 4 weeks ago i went in, and they could hear the heartbeat through this machine. about a week ago i went to Vegas, and they had 99 cent margaritas. (so basically no alcohol) and my brother let me have a couple sips. recently, i haven't felt any movement, and ive had random bursts of energy for about 10 min, and then ill crash. I've had really bad cramps, and ive been going to the bathroom more than normal. i occasionally flip on my stomach in the middle of the night while im sleeping. could the baby be hurt in some way? im really scared. im not bleeding.
  • Open Question: X-ray, CT scan, Ultrasound, MRI detecting blanks...?
This is for a sci-fi novel I’m writing. What would occur, either on a computer monitor (or other monitoring device, depending on the machine) or on a photo film, if an: a. X-ray b. CT scan c. ultrasound d. MRI scan did NOT pick up any information? To explain better, doctors are placing a person who is completely encased by a transparent, unknown material under an X-ray, CT scan, ultrasound, and MRI and yet all these detecting machines register as though the encased person is not there at all (the encased person is actually in another dimension yet is seen, heard, and felt by the doctors because of psychic stimulation of the doctors' brains, in the brain areas of sight, sound, and touch). Basically, I’m wondering if the X-ray film will appear just black...and if the CT scan picture will appear just black...and if the ultrasound will show blackness on the screen monitor...and if the MRI would show nothing on its monitor/picture... Sorry for the odd question. Thank you for any help you can offer.

  • Resolved Question: A chiropractor question?
Sometimes when a person goes to a chiropractor the doctor uses an electric thing on you. 2-4 patches get placed on your injured part and this machine pulses electricity into your body to help something or other. What is that called? It is not an ultrasound
  • Resolved Question: Labor/Preterm labor question (2nd baby)?
I was two days late with my first. The week leading up to his arrival. I was getting BAD sharp menstrual cramps and got stronger until I was in labor. Then added back ache and the contractions. Now I am 31W3D pregnant with placenta problem and on bed rest. For the past two weeks. I've been getting BAD SHARP menstrual cramps, and strong contractions but nothing close together. My doctor already thinks she coming early, as do I. These pains are exactly how I was feeling a week or two before I gave birth to my son. Now with that in mind do you think I'm dilating already? Did you feel these cramps close to labor too? (I know some people feel cramps during their entire pregnancy but I'm talking about strong ones (like labor pains) ) How many of you experienced preterm birth 32+ weeks? What was the outcome? Tomorrow I go to the doctor so I'm going to have her check me internally or on the ultrasound machine she has in the office. I'll also ask for the steroid shot to help boost her lungs in case something happens. I just want to know others experiences and opinions on this. Thanks. To add: I'm not gassy nor backed up. That would be an easy answer for the cramps but nope. I go #2 quite a bit. Twice a day more or less. I'm pretty regular. Never had problems like taht with my first too. & yes my belly does get hard when it happens. I know their labor pains, because they are painful. But they come and go all day long so it's not like I'm in active labor or something. I'm definately asking my doctor tomorrow. I just wanted some input or experinces.

  • Open Question: Ultrasound results.....?
My ultrasound shows a couple of abnormalities...one of them being that my baby boy only has one kidney. • Resolved Question: i have a due date question?
so i got an ultrasound at 10 weeks and the machine put the babies due dat at january 29th, then the most recent ultrasound said February 11th. the sonographer told me that the earlier date is the more accurate, but she also said that she has never seen that big of a span, my midwife felt the baby last week and said that due to the babies position she cant get a good feel for the size of the head so she doesn't know. anyways my question is if anyone else has had multiple due dates and which one was closer? i know it really doesn't matter she will be here when she is ready i just hate not knowing how far along i am, im either 361/2 weeks or 35. thankyou

  • Voting Question: How can I tell how far along I am?
I found out on December 7 that I was pregnant with baby #2! According to my LMP I should be about 7-8 weeks pregnant. My cycles are never the same due to my PCOS. I had an early ultrasound yesterday and the tech told me that she could see the gestational sac but couldn't see the yolk sac or the fetal pole. Then she saw something at the very bottom of my uterus and said it looked like a hearbeat of about 100BPM but her machine was outdated and it was also trans-abdominal. I do not have any medical insurance so I can't go to my OB yet. I know I am high risk from 3 previous miscarriages this year. I just want to know how far along I really am by measuring the gestational sac. The measurements were 2.8x1.7x3.0...all was measured in cm and not in mm. Please let me know if you have any information! Thanks in advance. I forgot to say that the tech said that she didn't think I was almost 8 weeks pregnant. She could only give me the measurements and told me to research it.
  • Voting Question: Chronic back pain, I can't stand it anymore?
I have scoliosis with a 43 degree curve to my right side upper spine. I have varying pain there but manageable most times. What I'm having issues with is my low back. Sometimes my back will hurt after 20 mins or so of walking but mostly after a couple minutes to the point where I have to sit down. I'm only 26 and i've been having bad pain for a few years now but it seems like its been worse over the past 9-12 months. Its taking over my life, i cant do anything without being in horrible pain and just having to put on my happy face. I have taken anti inflammatories, i go to a chiropractor once or twice a week, i get e-stim, ultrasound, ive gone to a physical therapist. nothing is helping.. it gets twice as worse when its my time of the month. My chiropractor did some type of machine on me that shows my muscles are too tight by my neck and in my low back and apparently something with my hip keeps coming out. I have a personal trainer ive been with for a year now.. what do i do? when i go to the doctor they don't understand or don't believe me.
  • Resolved Question: Ultrasound question, please read!?
Okay tonight I go for a free Ultrasound at a place here called Birthchoice. My worry is at 7wks3days the ER had to use 2 different US machines, the 2nd one being more hightech and I saw the baby.. The place i'm going uses the less hightech machine. Will it still be possible to see the baby now since i'm now 10wks? I would wait until I was furthur along but this was the only time they would offer it, they do it at 9 wks and 10wks. I still have an Ultrasound covered by my ins. when I go in to find the sex so this is more of an exciting freebe thing. Thanks everyone!!!!
  • Resolved Question: NHS service in England?
So this might be a long story but basically... I'm 21 weeks pregnant and since Christmas I've been getting really really bad pains like period pains but 100x worse. Last night it was so bad I couldn't breathe properly and I was bleeding. I've been phoning the ante natal clinic at my hospital and no one has been answering. My friend picked me up and we went to my hospital this morning (about 11am). The whole ante natal ward was closed. So we went to the main reception. No one there. Went to A&E reception and they told us the hospital sometimes doesn't bother opening on weekends or Christmas etc?? So she said it would be about half an hour wait in A&E as there weren't many other people there. More people came and went. After sitting there an hour a lady came in and said 'I was cleaning my ears with a que tip yesterday and I think some of the cotton wool got left in my ear'. She got priority over me and a lady with a baby who was throwing up everywhere. Finally I got to see someone. She looked at me like I was stupid when I told her. Then said to go to the ante natal department. I told her it was closed so she said go to the labour ward and 'hopefully someone will see you standing there.' So we went to the labour section. There was a locked door with a doorbell but no one at the reception to answer the doorbell. So we stood there for a while until a nurse was walking by and asked us what was wrong. She took us to a labour room. There was blood on the floor. I wasn't trying to be picky but I didn't want to be in a dirty room, you know? She told me it had been cleaned. So I waited in there for about twenty minutes. She came in took my blood pressure twice and my temperature 3 times. Disappeared for another 20 minutes. She then came back with some machine to check the heartbeat. After about 10 minutes with this thing 'ohh I can't seem to find a heartbeat. I'll be right back'. She left me sitting there for an HOUR panicking about whether my baby had died. She came back with another machine and said 'I'll try this one now'..... 'nope, still can't find a heartbeat. I'll get some doctors. 40 minutes later two doctors came in and told me to get undressed and open my legs. I've never had a vaginal exam or anything and by this point I was trying so hard not to cry. She put something up me and I asked her what it was and she just said 'Oh err I'm just umm checking....' and walked off. Then 10 minutes came back with an ultrasound machine. She did the ultrasound and looked really annoyed. She was like 'look there's your baby see. It's fine. I'll get your notes and you can go.' I finally got home at like 5pm. I'm terrified of going to the hospital to give birth now. It's so dirty and they are so unorganised. I've always hated hospitals and now I never ever want to return. I want to try and find out about a home birth but the problem is I may be moving house around that time and I don't know if it's going to be possible. I don't feel happy or excited or anything about my baby anymore I feel frightened and unhappy and I don't know what to do

  • Resolved Question: Southern california what Equine Vet??!?!?
I know of four equine vets in my area, that are either, way over priced, do not have the right equipment or are full of shit with diagnosis. can anyone recommend me a vet in the high desert area that or Santa clarita valley that will travel to the Antelope Valley, that is resonably priced with an ultrasound machine? Thanks.
  • Resolved Question: Baby's legs might be crossed! Oh no!?
Hi! So I am going in on Christmas Eve HOPEFULLY to find out the sex of our baby. I work at a health care clinic and we have an ultrasound machine in our office. The tech (who only does heart ultrasonds not OB) did an ultrasound on me for fun today and it was so fun seeing the baby... BUT it looks like the legs might be crossed. If they are crossed is there anyway to get the baby to uncross them? Or do you think it is going to be stubborn and stay put the whole pregnancy? Ah!
  • Resolved Question: Will this work for sewing these things? Help! I'm running out of time. ?
Ok, I'm 32-36 weeks pregnant. (32 to ultrasound, 36 to cycle.) Our family is very, very ..uhm.. crafty? Hippiesh? Anyway I was supposed to start making things for the babies room but I got so distracted in the time where I was sleeping I completely forgot. I need to hurry up and get these done: cloth diapers burp rags diaper bag teddy bear (well it's made of recycled old clothes, but still crafty and fun for me) Some recycled baby clothes (some of the old clothes I got from a friend were stained and not something I could fix, so I didn't have the heart to get rid of them. So I decided to recycle them and make some cuter clothes. She liked the idea.) A couple blankets A border (the thingy that goes around the crib I can't remember the name of) SO can I use a hand held sewing machine to make this stuff? I wanna get this done in two weeks and I don't have the money to throw out there right now for a brand new sewing machine. I didn't think about that before. Also, any other ideas for the nursery?

I was wondering if there were any tips to getting a good picture... someone told me to be sure to pee first... ha ha. Any others?
  • Resolved Question: I am now 3-4 weeks pregnant is bleeding normal...ive been bleeding very lightyl for 6 days?
I am now 3-4 weeks pregnant and I am bleeding lightly. It has not dripped onto my pad, atleast not a lot anyway, and i am concerned. I had an ultrasound done but it was to early to see anything. I had my HCG levels tested at the ER and they were 167 which is up 100 points from last week. Im not sure if everything is ok. My doctor thinks I am 6 weeks but there is jsut no way...they cant even see anything onthe ulstrasound machine, and I didnt even ovulate until around november 22. I have no pain, no dizziness, no other symtoms of anything, just the bleeding and occasional light cramp, but barely. Are my levels normal or should I be worried...My DOC is being kind of an Asshole and wants me to get rid of the baby, but I am sure he is wrong, has this ever happened to anyone? Please help, I relally need it Thanks for the responses everyone...To add a little to my previous message....I found out i was pregnant because my period is always on time, when i was 8 days late (december 8) i took a test and i was posative. I went to the ER because I started bleeding that night, thats when i was told by the doc that my beta level was 78 and that i was having early pregnancy symptoms...then 3 days later i went to a differant er and they told me my beta level rose to 109. the docotor i am dealing with now is from a clinic and he thinks tha my levels are to low for the date and that it will just be a failed pregnancy or a problem with the baby...i would NEVER get rid of it, but he thinks metrotrexate or seomthing like that should be taken to stop any further problems...its wierd thought because i have been bleedinglightly for 7 days but i have no pain at all...none...what should i do?

  • Resolved Question: PLEASE SOMEONE ANSWER?
i was due to have my period on the 6th of November. It is now the 14th of November and still no period. I have taken about 6-7 Home Pregnancy Test and all of them were different and all of them were positive. So i used an online pregnancy calculator and according to it I am 5 weeks and 4 days prego. I called the docs office and went to an appointment on the 11th and the nurse who preformed the ultrasound told me before she did it that she really wasn't too experienced in doing ultrsound and I might have to waite until I come back on Tuesday and have the doctor do one. Well she did an ultrasound anyways and she said that she couldn't see anything. (Needless to say the ultrasound machine looked really outdated and fuzzy) They also did a prego test there and that one turned out to be negative. I got really worried and when I left the doctors office I went and bought yet another test. That one turned out to be positive. I called the docs office and told them they said that their test weren't as sensitive as the home pregnancy test.Remember that was on the 11th. Now today is the 14th and I took another test and it is positive. Can anyone please give me some insight to what might be going on here?
  • Resolved Question: Due Date according to LMP is 6 WEEKS EARLIER than due date according to ultrasound...?
Okay, here's the situation.... According to my LMP on 08/20/08, I should have an estimated Due Date of 05/27/2009 making me 16 weeks 0 days today... According to an ultrasound done with an old-school machine at a neighborhood clinic, the baby mesures at 10 weeks, 3 days (well, it would be more like 11 weeks 0 days now that was a few days ago). I went to a different doctor yesterday at a major hospital, and they did an ultrasound... couldn't measure the baby because the baby kept moving, but found a fibroid on my uterus. They sent me to schedule an ultrasound at the Imaging Center for a Dating Scan, and it's not for 18 MORE DAYS. The idiot who called me back to schedule the appointment asked how far along I was, and I explained everything to her. The doctor wanted the check within the week. The idiot scheduled it for December 29th, saying they won't do the check unless I'm 12 weeks. What the hell? How can we even know if I'm twelve weeks if the dates are so screwed up? That's the purpose of the scan, jackass, to check the dates. Ok, I'm supposed to ask a question. Would the fact that I have a fibroid be why the baby is measuring at a 6 week later date than my last period? I don't know if this would hinder the baby's growth, or if there is another problem, but I think that my scan should be when the doctor wants it, not when the person scheduling appointments thinks it should be.
  • Resolved Question: Sending estranged parents a Christmas card to let them know my husband and I are pregnant...?
I'm not really sure about what my question is, I guess I'm just looking for other people's opinions on the situation. I'll give you the background info (and try to keep it as short as possible for you): - biological mother and father married very young (16 and 19) for all the wrong reasons (trying to escape their parents) - I was born, their first and only child, 5 years after they were married - 1 year after I was born, my biological mother filed for divorce - at first she took me with her, hid me from my father - eventually she grew tired of having me and gave me back to my father - dispite the fact that they had joint custody, I haven't seen my biological mother since I was 3 - my father met a woman when I was 5 - this woman had one son from a previous marriage (who was 4 years older than me) - by the time I was 7, my father and I were moving into a home with her and her son - the woman became my only mother-figure in life, I called her mom and I called her son my brother - my father and this woman never married, however did buy several houses and cars together, and lived as husband and wife would - over the years my father found various ways of abusing me, phyiscally and verbally - over the years, his "wife" was in denial about the abuse towards me - my father never laid a hand on her nor on her son, only me - the state became involved in our family numerous times, investigating the abuse and sending my father to anger management - I was a bit of a rebellous teen, never did my homework and constantly having crushes on boys...my father was very old-fashioned, raised as a strict-Mormon, and he believed his "abuse" of me was actually punishment for my bad behaviors...he also at times felt the need to punish me for my biological mother's bad behaviors when I was a younger child - the last time my father spoke to me was when I was 15, he threw a bottle of pills at me and told me to kill myself via over-dosing - I obeyed what he told me to do, this was not the first time I had hurt myself for him - shortly after this incident, I moved into a group home where my father remained my guardian however neither he nor my "step mom" ever contacted me - I tried to call home but they just hung-up the phone and wouldn't talk to me, this went on for 3 years - after I turned 18, I moved out of the group home and wrote a letter to my step mom - she responded and we began to try to rebulid our relationship - she seemed happy to know I was engaged to my high-school sweetheart and had a good management job in the housekeeping feild - we talked on the phone and even met in person once for lunch, everything was great until I applied for college - when I applied for college she became upset, told me that there was no point in my attending college - frustrated that she couldn't just be proud of me for trying to make something of myself, I told her I needed a break from communications with her - since then my address has changed twice, my phone number has changed three times - my high-school sweet-heart and I broke up - I moved out of state, met a new man, got married, etc... - when I got engaged to the man who is now my husband, I called home, there was no answer so I left a message on the machine letting them know that I had moved out of state and was getting married on such-and-such date Currently my husband and I are very happy. We have a nice apartment, his military career is thriving, and we are pregnant with our first child (a healthy baby boy, due in Feb). My studies are going well, and I am lucky enough that my husband makes enough that I can stay home with the baby and go to school online, rather than having to work and send our child to day-care. I feel somewhat gulity that I'm 7 months pregnant and they don't even know...my step mom always looked forward to being a grandma...I wrote them a Christmas card that says "My husband and I are happy to tell you that your grandson is expected to arrive in Feb '09. Congratulations." and I included a copy of my 20-week ultrasound in the card. I haven't sent the card yet...I'm still debating if I should bother. Also, if I send the Christmas card, I'm unsure if I should include a return address. Currently they do not have my address or phone number therefore they could not write back. However if I include a return address, they might write back. would also like to include, while living in the group home, I recieved therapy for my abuse and was able to work through much of my childhood traumas and in the past few years I've worked hard to lead a balanced, healthy life-style I may be a young wife and mom-to-be (I am 22) however for the first time in my life I feel happy, as if I finally am where I should be. so please do not suggest therapy...I'm simply struggling to decide if I should allow my step-mom back into my life for the sake of my son, or if my son and I would be better off without her around. I know my grandfather was horrible to my dad, yet he was a wonderful figure in my life and very important to me as a child...I'm not sure I want my son to miss out on that experience of having grandparents. oh, and no, my husband's family isn't very close...to say the least
  • Voting Question: 7th week heartbeat question?
Hi Ladies, I have my first doctors appointment at the end of this week (Thursday), but I went in today for an vaginal ultrasound because I have some spotting the past 4 days (dark brown). I didn't get to see my doctor, I still am seeing her at the end of the week. The ultrasound showed that there was no bleeding or problems. There was a tony embryo blob with a sac and a yolk but the machine couldn't show the heartbeat. I am wondering if this is just because it is a really old machine?? The technician (who is a OBGYN as well) told me that everything looks fine and that I would need to wait another week as the embryo was too small for him to see the heart beat. Now I am worried as I have read nothing but comments on the web about women seeing the heart at 5-7 weeks. I think I am 7 weeks 2 days. My doctor only does ultrasounds at the 12th week-I am wondering if this truly is because the machine is a dinosaur. It was really old looking and the imaging was small! Should I be worried??? Has anyone else not been able to see their babies heartbeat at my stage (assuming that I am 7 weeks). I really hope all is well. This is my first.
  • Resolved Question: I had a hind leak. When will i go into labour?
i am 38 weeks pregnant, and on saturday night my partner and i decided to try and get things started by some intercourse. When finished i noticed a huge wet patch on the bed (about 30cm by 25cm). i called the hospital nad they told me to go in. i wasn't having contractions then or anything. previously i have had back pain, strong braxton hicks and signs that things might be starting but nothing like this. When i got to the hospital i was examined, and my cervix is softening, but not dilating. i was told it was a hind leak and i had to stay in hospital for 3 days because of risk of infection. the leak has sealed it's self back over (disappointed). the doctor also gave me ultrasounds and said that my amniotic fluid levels were low. but not quite low enough to induce. Also i was hooked up to machines that monitored the babies heart beat for 40 mins at a time and the doctor said he could see tightening on the results of that. When i was discharged the doctor also said that he thinks i will be soon in labour. if this is the case why didn't he just induce me then? Please, i am uncomfortable and in pain. i just want this baby out of me. I should probably add, this is my second baby. sorry about the length and thanks in advance to all who answer. P.S. Does having a hind leak mean i will go into labour soon? i have heard that people go into labour about 5 days after having one, i was just wondering. Has this happened to anyone. If so please share experiances. Also, about the sex thing, my doctor said i wasnt aloud to have sex for the rest of the pregnancy because of the risk of infection if this happens again. Thanks again.
  • Voting Question: question about visit to ER last night...?
Hey everyone, Sorry its so long just bear with me Ok so i am 17weeks 3days and last night i had to go the ER. For the last few days i have been having pain i start to urinate and some sharp shooting pains. Well i called the nurse call center 2days ago and they said just wait it out untill my dr appt thursday.... well all day yesterday i had the most awful cramps in my whole life i think and could barely go to the bathroom to pee because it hurt so bad so i called back in and they said go to the ER right away. They took me up to L&D and did a pelvic and pap and urine sample then hooked me up to the contraction machine to make sure i was not in preterm labor. Well as it turned out evertything came out fine. No stds, no bacteria or infection, nothing but the doctor said she was almost positive i had uti, and i thought so to but surprise there was nothing. After awhile the cramps and pain calmed down alittle but i asked the doctor why does it still hurt when i go pee and she could not tell me. She really didnt have an answer for anything and they did not do an ultrasound to make sure the baby was ok but the heartbeat was good. But because she could not really give me any answers about the cramps and painful urination and there is nothing wrong im like really worried that something is wrong with the baby... you know how you just get a feeling.? Does anyone have any advice or know what the cause could be because the doctor sure didnt know. Thanks in advance and hope all is well

what is the earliest that I might know the sex of each baby with a high tech ultrasound machine?
  • Voting Question: Measuring big, lots of opinions needed!!?
I've asked a couple questions like this..but I like to get a good amount of opinions.... So I'm supposed to be 34 weeks. At 32 weeks I measured 35 weeks. So I was scheduled to go back yesterday for another ultrasound. I still measured 2 1/2 or 3 weeks ahead. So did the baby's head and abdomen.(just like last time) The doctor seemed pretty sure at the last visit the baby would even out. But...he didn't lol. So now he tells me he won't move my due date up..... the machine gives me a new due date of Christmas..yay lol. at 34 weeks the baby is about 6 1/2 lbs!! c'mon!!! I'm dying here!! He says " well, hopefully you'll go into labor before you due date! if you don't we may have to do a c-section" (I had one the first time around I REALLY don't want another!!!! going for a VBAC this time) When I went for my first visit I was 8 weeks. by my dates and my head ..but he put me at 6!!!! THEN..... at 12 weeks the baby measured 14 weeks...so it kinda makes sense. He didn't move my due date at all then either it kinda seems like they finally caught it or something! ya know? My due date is January 10th..I mean..my back is constantly aching..I'm tired, I can't even clean my house without feeling like I'm gonna fall over. oh and walking around stores? forget it!!! I can't imagine this going on for 6 more weeks!!! What do you think?? Further along?? or no? *crosses fingers* stories? similar experiences?
  • Resolved Question: Has anyone had preformed on their horse..?
A Scintography test? What part of the horse did you do or if it was total body and what results showed? I am going to ultrasound my mules soft tissues myself (I'm a sonographer) just waiting for the vets new ultrasound machine to arrive.. but if this shows nothing, the next step is the Scintography.. I know what this test is.. thats not my question, just wondering who has had one preformed and for what reasons... They would just do spinal column on him.
  • Voting Question: Whats the chances of...?
My due date is Jan 6 09 but when u got an ultrasound done the machine said my due date would be Jan 1 09....Whats the chances of going into labor in the end of december???
  • Resolved Question: last night i went to the hospital because of burning when i went to the bathroom, and they hooked me up to the?
Monitor to make sure the baby was fine, and have a slight UTI, but while i was there my boyfriend was with me and he says listening to the baby's heartbeat and seeing it on the screen made him see that this is real and that he is ready to be a dad, he was worried it was something more serious because of how much i was hurting. how many other people have experienced that when their boyfriend/husband is going to be a first time dad that they are scared until they see their baby's heartbeat or see them on the ultrasound machine? lol mine was super scared and when the nurse came in because the baby moved and you couldnt hear the hearbeat any more he would move to the edge of the chair and watch to make sure it would come back. he was crying last night because he thinks its his fault because it happened right after sex.
  • Resolved Question: I'm still unsure of my baby's gender. Easy 10pts?
I've had two ultrasounds to determine the sex of the baby. One at 18 weeks and the tech. said she saw no obvious boy parts but then she won't commit that its a girl because anatomy wasn't clear enough for her to see the labia or anything. My 2nd ultrasound at 20weeks5days and my OB said she saw nothing in the middle and that the portable ultrasound machine doesn't really give good quality view of the baby. She said she's pretty sure it's a girl because by now it would have been very obvious and clear to see if it was a boy. She said that the DRs there are never gonna tell you 100% that it's a girl. I just need opinions on base on what I just wrote, what do you guys think my baby's gender is? easy 10 pts
  • Voting Question: I saw my OBGYN today and couldn`t hear the heart beat of my baby. I am 9 weeks should i be worried?
My OBGYN today used a doppler and a mini ultrasound machine. With both devices he couldn`t hear the heart beat of my baby. I am really worried, this is my third pregnancy and never experience with i am going through right now. I don`t have any bleeding or cramping. He booked me an ultrasound on Friday but i think i`ll go crazy until then. I am so worried because i asked him how worried i should be. He said 75% out of a 100%.
  • Resolved Question: Pain in my right side, 24 weeks pregnant?
It started saturday morning and it was just on and off, and then yesterday it became constant...so i went to the hospital because my doctors office isn't open on the weekends, they took my blood pressure, my weight all that good stuff, hooked me up to the machine to make sure i wasn't having contractions and they hooked me up to the doppler to make sure everything w/ the baby is fine. my midwife said everything w/ the baby is fine and im not contracting..so she sent me home and told me to come back today because they want to do an ultrasound of my kidneys and i have to go back again on the 11th and get another one but this time is of my gall bladder.. but its not even any where near where my kidneys are or my gall bladder...and the pain is like an achy feeling.. and if i stretch too much...it hurts my skin..almost like my stretching my skin.. does anybody have any ideas of what this could be? could it just me ligaments stretching? the pain gets so back sometimes it brings tears to my eyes but my doctor said everything w/ the pregnancy is going fine so its not anything to do w/ the baby... im just confused...does anybody have any ideas of what it could be and if theres anything i could take or do to ease the pain? i would really appreciate it..thanks! its where my appendix would be..but up a lil further, like half way up my side but right above where my appendix would be
  • Resolved Question: Another pregnancy question!?
Sorry for all of these questions! Well I am going to the doctors office on Wednesday..with my mom. The doctor makes her go with me because he always has to talk to her. My doctor is a cardiologist doctor ( specializes in hearts ). I was wondering I f there was any possible way that he could find out that I'm pregnant? Normally he checks my heart with a cold circle thing (forgot what it's called). The nurse puts stickie blue patches on different parts of my body (legs, arms, etc), then hooks up tiny wires that hook up to a machine. I think this prodecure is called EKG or something. & sometimes an ultrasound.
  • Resolved Question: Can anyone suggest a good ob/gyn in the southern suburbs of Perth?
I want to see someone apart from my general prac, he doesnt seem to be very helpful. I would love to see someone that has an ultrasound machine in thier office as well. Thanks! I'm currently 12 weeks pregnant but have had 3 miscarriages in the past, I want to make sure everything runs smoothly but my gen prac doesnt seem too fazed by it all.
  • Resolved Question: Should i talk to my doctor or not?
For the last 3 months i have been sick, i would sleep for 20+ hours and not eat and i would bleed alot so i was going to my regular family doctor and we were doing blood work and just taking it step by step to figure out what was wrong. Well about a month ago he sent me to get an ultrasound of my abdomen to make sure i wasn't bleeding internally, and 3 days later i got a call from the place that had the ultrasound done at and they said nothing was wrong. Well late last week i woke up and i had sharp pains in my lower abdomen so i was rushed to the ER and they said i have a cyst on right ovary that was the size of a football and 2 grapefruit size cysts on my other ovary. and was rushed to emergency surgery to have them taken care of. So my question is, should i call the office that i had my first ultrasound done and ask why they didn't see anything and question the nurses ability to use the machine? Or what else could i do?
  • Resolved Question: Baby's heartbeat is 101?!?!?! SCARED!?
I just got back from my ultrasound. I thought I was 5 weeks but the u/s read 6 weeks 1 day. I got to hear the baby's heartbeat and see it. The tech said that it 101. I thought it was suppose to sound like a washing machine and when I heard it I though it was mine! She said 101 is normal for 6 weeks?!?!?
  • Voting Question: 20 Week Ultrasound Question?
Regardless of my size they will be able to use the regular on the stomach machine for my ultrasound right? i'm not a BIG big girl but no where near petite or tiny. i have a bump now (18 weeks) and just making sure if i was already plus size they wont have to still use the transvaginal probe, right? yep, i'm gonna find out the sex, hopefully if the baby cooperates. :)
  • Resolved Question: Measuring big! A few questions?
I know its common to measure a week or two ahead. I'm measuring 3 weeks. My uterus, the baby's head and the baby's abdomen are all a few weeks ahead.AND the baby is guessed to weigh about 5 1/2lbs already by his thoughts and the machines..lol here's the evidence: When I went in for my first visit...I was 8 weeks,in my head anyway...by my dates and everything. The doctor said I was 6 weeks.looking at the ultrasound. I had another ultrasound at what he believed to be 12 weeks...the lady doing the scan said the baby was 14 weeks.exactly 2 weeks??? hmmmm... She could even see that it was a boy. So could I! When I went for another visit ONE week later with my regular OB I told him what that lady had said. So he takes a look and says "I'm gonna say 13 weeks and 2 days" So..in one week I had 2 days of pregnancy? lol I really want to know if I'm further along or not..it's killing me!! (yes I know the baby will come when he's ready..yada yada yada...) My doctor was worried that I was eating too many carbs and that's why the baby is big. Doesn't make sense to me...I'm not overweight! He was also concerned about GD ..but I passed the glucose test...so that's out. Now I have another ultrasound next week....if the baby is still measuring a few weeks ahead...will he say I'm further along? And I know that nobody here is a doctor...but...what do you think? Further along..or not? My husband and I are getting excited that we may see him sooner.♥
  • Resolved Question: If your dr knew you were having a 10 lb baby do you think he would send you home and wait till labor began?
I had a 10 1/2 lb baby 6 yrs ago. Now one of my friends is having a baby and is due in 1 1/2 weeks. She said that her doctor said her baby is 10 lb's now, but she is not dialated. She said he did an ultrasound using the clinic's small ultrasound machine, which I don't believe is as accurate as the hospitals. He sent her home and scheduled an appointment for next week. I have the same doctor and am 20 weeks. I am concerned because I do not want to have another large baby. It is too dangerous for mom and baby. Please give me your opinion on what you think a doctor would do and if my friend is full of it. Thanks My daughter was overdue and the doctor stripped my membranes twice. Also, I fractured my pelvis giving birth to her and trust me my palvis has never healed properly. And one of my friends had a 10 1/2 lb baby and he broke his arm and now he is paralyzed in that arm. So I know from personal experience that is dangerous for mom and baby!!
  • Resolved Question: Can too many ultrasounds be bad for the baby?
Yes, this is really supposed to be in pregnancy but I only can get 2 or 3 answers there before my question is on the next page... I know ultrasounds are safe, but can having too many be bad for the baby? I'm lucky to have a husband who works in a medical clinic with an ultrasound machine... well we've taken advantage of that and adready done 6 and I'm only 16 weeks pregnant. I just don't want to hurt the baby! But we looove being able to watch her dance around when I pop in to have lunch with my husband...
  • Resolved Question: What will baby be like born prematurely? Please answer if you have any experience with this?
So my baby only weighs 4 lbs 3 oz. She hasnt put on any weight in weeks, anyway the doctor wants me to go to an ultrasound this coming week and said i'll preobably have to delivery with a few days after that, I am 35 weeks pregnant now, so will be around 36- 36.5 weeks when i deliever. if the baby doesnt grow any more til then, what will she look like? I am really sacred she is going to be too skinny and look sick and be sick and have to be hooked up to machines which will break my heart. Has anyone had their baby prematurely , what did the baby look like, how small was she, did she look sick? How long did she have to stay in the hospital after she was born? Anything you can tell me about what to expect or about premature bbays would help me a lot :) Thanks everyone... and congrats on all your pregnancies! I know that babys born at 36 weeks look and are pretty healthy i am just concerned since she wont be the size she should be at 36 weeks since she stopped growing weeks ago ....
  • Resolved Question: 20 week old baby's tummy measured HUGE in the ultrasound?
the tech and my dr said she has no "anomalies" but her stomach measured to be 20 weeks and 4 days old, her head measured to be 19 weeks and 6 days old [right on target exactly with all the other ultras sounds] and at the end of the ultrasound after all the measurements were made the machine said she was exactly 20 weeks 0 days old. so i guess my question is, since all 3 ultrasounds i had [one at 5 weeks one at 10 weeks and this one at 20 weeks] and they all measure up to be exact ally corosponding with my LAMP date and everything, can i be sure of the conception day? and should i be worried about her huge tummy?
  • Resolved Question: How common is it to measure big and really be further along? ?
so I'm 32 weeks. I measured at about 35 weeks..and so did the baby's head and abdomen...yesterday....My OB told me that the baby weighs about 5 1/2 lbs. the machine guessed the baby at the same. I just remembered today... When I was 12 weeks...my doc sent me for an ultrasound...the nuchal translucency test. when I got there...the ultrasound tech said the baby was 14 weeks. She could even see male parts! Sure enough later ultrasounds confirmed he's a boy!! so ONE week later when I went to my OB again for a different test. I told him what she said and he did an ultrasound. Now in his head I was 13 weeks....and by the ultrasound I was 15weeks by that time. So he put me at 13 weeks and 2 days....so he gave me 2 days...rather than the 2 weeks...How could the ultrasound tech see a penis on a fetus that was only 12 weeks?? really? Do you think I'm further along? stories/similar experiences??
  • Resolved Question: Measuring big at 32 weeks?
So I just got back from the doctors...I'm 32 weeks... My uterus measured 34/35 weeks AND the baby's head AND abdomen measured about the same. The baby weighs about 5 1/2 pounds. That's 1 1/2lbs above average..lol. The doctor said that I might have to talk to a nutritionist....because I could just be eating wrong. I don't think I eat awful. I do indulge a little in the naughty stuff ....but my husband wont let me eat like crap....he's no fun lol jk. When I was 12 weeks..or they thought I was 12 weeks...I had to go to another hospital for an ultrasound because they had the right kinda of machine the sister hospital next to my house didn't have it. So the different hospital thought I was 14 weeks and like...3 or 4 days by how big the baby was and stuff. Then when I told my OB that..and he checked the notes...one week later. Then he gave me 2 extra days. ignored the fact that the baby was measuring big..kinda annoyed me but I figured he knew best. Now I'm questioning that. Also I'm 32 weeks and I haven't even had to drink that nasty orange drink yet....that's supposed to happen at 28 weeks...they spaced....real reassuring, right? lol What do you think? Do you think I'm further along? I have an ultrasound in 2 weeks. I'm not overweight lol. no...it confused me as well
  • Resolved Question: Difference in dates.......?
I had my first ultrasound in my G.P's office. It took him quite awhile (weeks) to actually confirm the pregnancy. When he eventually did on the 3rd attempt, he found that I was 7w 2d along, due March 12, but the machine was playing up a little, and go back in a few weeks for a more accurate date. We went on holiday etc in between and it was quite awhile between visits. When I went back, it showed that I was 12w 1d and my due date was March 19. I have had 2 further u/s in the office, dates are 21st and 23rd March. When I went for my anatomy scan, they said the size of the baby is consistent with March 23rd. I have since been to see my midwife who was trying to figure out an accurate due date to submit to the hospital, and she said to go by the 12th March, the 1st date I was given. She also measured my fundus and said that it was accurate with the 12th March (23 weeks). I explained about the machine being faulty etc and she said to use that date anyways. Which date should I go by? The midwife/fundus date, or the ultrasound/G.P date? There is almost a 2 week difference in the dates, and I don't want to be induced too early, or have the baby left in there too long. I am aware that "babies come when they're ready" as I've already had a baby, but a friend of mine just lost her baby at 42 weeks due to the oxygen supply being cut off because the baby wasn't induced in time.
  • Resolved Question: Question about ultrasound and possibly recording it?
Yah! I had my ultrasound scheduled today and doc has a new machine. They just got it and haven't recorded ultrasound yet. Any idea if I bring CD or DVD. Is there a specific type of disc to bring. I'm really wanting to bring the right media in case it really works! I was at doc's and asked. This is brand new to them and I'm first to ask. They weren't sure.
  • Voting Question: Ultrasound question - Can the doctor really tell the gender at 11-12 weeks?
I recently had a 3d ultrasound scan. The machine seemed pretty advanced. When I asked the doc if he could tell the sex of the baby, the doc switched over to 2d ultrasound, did some moving about and very quickly said well it is probably a boy. I was pleased but surprised as I thought he would say 'no we can't tell yet!'. When I asked him how he knew it was a boy so surely he said 'well i can't see any penis or genitals' but this is how I can tell... He then switched back over to the 2d scan and moved to the under side of the foetus. He told me to imagine the baby was sitting down and this is the seat of the chair view. He pointed out two tiny oval/thin roundish shapes and said he thinks they are testicles. Now... I have looked everywhere on the internet and cannot find any information that says this is a way of knowing the gender this early. All I found was that the testicles are still way up in the abdomen at this stage and also the way they tell this early if they need to is by measuring the angel of the genital tube - not by searching for testicles... Has anyone else had this happen? Is it a new way of finding out the sex this early? I couldn't believe how easy it seemed! Could the 'testicles' have also been ovaries? Very confused and wish i hadn't asked him. Of course I am able to be patient anf will have to wait like everyone else but now I am too curious and excited to wait another 4 - 6 weeks to find out what it is for sure! By the way I don't mnd what I have but am interested in your opinions / expertise / experiences Thank you :-)
  • Resolved Question: Tinnitus, but no hearing loss?
I've been having tinnitus for over a year, but with no evident hearing loss (I got tested with machines, etc.). I have no idea what's causing it, on the same side of my affected ear, I have ear-aches, palpable nodes on neck (very small, not visible just palpable), and a constant dull ache around the jaw. I've had x-rays, ultrasounds of the neck done, and doctors seem to find nothing. They say my lymph nodes are normal. What could be causing my tinnitus?
