My friend is driving to Upstate New York from North Carolina without her license or insurance. Shes been pulled over twice this summer, one for runing a redlight, and the other at a cop block. She has two tickets, one for no license, and the other for runing a redlight.
I am telling her not to go to NY. Shes going to have her son in the car as well, on her way to NY.

A friend of mine has elderly parents who want to own a home before they die. They found a home they like and have been dealing with Country Wide to get a loan for this home. They were told, by the seller, who also has their mortgage through Country Wide, that they were approved for their loan. That itself seems odd to me, the lender shouldn't contact the seller about the buyer. So, they have been approved, which also concerns me. He is in his 70s, she is in her late 60s and he is in very poor health, they are on a fixed income that will barely cover the mortgage (i thought you couldn't get a loan if your income was not a certain amount more than your mortgage) because you still have utilities and health insurance, car insurance, food and other living expenses. So, Country Wide has approved them and sent the closing papers DHL for them to sign and send back, even though the office is right down the road from them.... is it even legal to sign closing papers and mail them, i though you had to meet with seller, lender, lawyer... etc....
It especially seems strange to me now with every thing going on, i thought it would be much harder to get a home rightnow. They do have 36,000 in a VA grant to put down, I am wondering if the lender is just wanting to get that 36000 now and are not concerned with later.
I am just worried about them getting ripped off... oh and the loan is a 20 year loan, how can a 70 year old man in poor health get a 20 year home loan????? he can't get insurance for the loan b/c of his health!!!

Me and my husband were going to begin the process of buying our first home THIS WEEKEND, then the Lehman Brothers and AIG crises came about.
How would this affect us regarding purchasing our first home.
We both work full time, have no children, credit card debt or monthly car payments.
We do only have about 5% down payment saved, but my husband is a veteran and eligible for a VA guaranteed home loan (VA guarantees that we won't default, so we would not require a down payment or private mortgage insurance).

My husband and I currently living in VA we are from NY and moved here 3 yrs ago because my husband couldn't find a job in NY. Anyway, at the time I completed my Associate degree and couldn't get my BA because we moved. Now I am ready to go back and the schools around here don’t offer early childhood or education as a major. Here you take your undergraduate degree in whatever you want and then you master in Education. Also, they are only going to transfer a few of my credits, so I would be basically starting from the beginning. Now if we move back to NY they are willing to transfer all my credits and I can major in early childhood.
We also have two children so I could get support from my family. Here all the responsibility would fall on my husband when he comes home from work because I would have to go at night. Your probably thinking well what's the problem go back to NY but its not that easy because they have an awesome school system here for my kids. NY doesn't have the best schools unless you move to the really expensive areas or you pay for private school. One thing that’s good is that my two yr old could start kindergarten at age 5. Here in VA the cut off is in Oct. and she has a late birthday, so she would have to start when she is 6.
Some cons about NY are that our car insurance will go up and we will have to pay higher for rent. Here we pay high rent but we get more for our money. Food is cheaper in VA because the taxes are lower and also we pay cheaper gas. What’s your opinion would you value more the fact that it's cheaper to live in a place or the support from family with our children? I know all of this seems confusing. In the end it’s really all about the kids. Oh, I also looked into the possibility of surrounding schools and they don’t offer early childhood. I can’t take online courses because it would be hard to get work done with the kids here.

Took my car to dealership for regular service, the techie there took it for test drive and another car hits this car, and the techie is at fault.I open a claim with my insurance firm, and they open a claim with the dealership's liability coverage. Today the dealers insurance tells me, that as long as I have insurance and I "premit" dealers techie to test drive my car, anything happens to my car SHALL be covered primarily by my insurance, despite the fact that the dealer techie was at fault in the accident. Which means, I pay my deductible and possibly the other guy's insurance company is going to submit a claim to my insurance company. And to boot, I am not even driving the car!!
And they say VA state law happens to say this!! How crazy can this be? Is this happening in the U.S ? Is this justice ?

Bad night for me :(
A cop had stopped a driver at an intersection and I didn't want to hit the cop, so I started looking for him and the flashing lights blinded me, so just for extra care I moved further left. Next thing I know I'm driving on the wrong side of the road and there was a traffic island so I had to stop.
I think the cop went easy on me since it was dark and there was no traffic, so I got a 'Fail to Pay Full Time Attention' ticket. But it's that going to give me negative points on the driving record? Is my insurance likely to punish me?
This has me really worried specially since I had planned to buy my own car in a few days (currently using my sister's).

Thank you the1silverbullet and dodgeman. IMO the laws around here are not that bad, but the system is horrible. The 'Processing Fee' I have to pay is more than two times the fine itself. I would understand that fee if I actually chose to attent trial - the judge has to make a living too, but given the fact that I'll just pay the fine online, then why such fee?

My husband and I have been married for 11 years. During this time my husband worked, maybe 2 years total. I paid for everything, medical, dental and car insurance, all his clothes, all the food - everything I paid for. He's also been abusive; verbally, mentally and documented physical.
He finally decided he was entitled to disability benefits - he's a Gulf War Veteran. I helped him fill out the paperwork and we submitted. Almost a year passed and we received no information.
In January we were planning a move to another state. I was visiting the state (we were relocating to) and I checked our JOINT checking account balance. There was a payment from the VA for roughly $2000.
I thought it was an error, I wasn't sure if it was legit so I waited for a week before doing anything. It posted in the account, again JOINT.
We were moving with nothing, no furniture, barely any money, nothing. Instead of telling my spouse I lied, said I had won the money at a casino. I used the money to buy furniture: a new bed and a sofa. I also used it to buy groceries for us when we got settled.
I know I should have told him...it was his money after all. But I knew what he would do. He would want to pull half of it out of the bank so he could 'hold onto it" and the other half would be wasted.
We had moved before with nothing, spent a month sleeping on the floor - I didn't want to go through that again.
About a month ago I left him; I couldn't take the abuse anymore. I was losing my sanity and I knew if I didn't get away from him things could become dangerous between us.
He's threatening to call the FBI and report this as a federal case.
I think he's crazy. I should have told him yes - that was a big mistake. But I don't see how when the money is deposited into a "JOINT" checking account and it's used to benefit both of us, how can think anyone would take the case.
I think this will be an issue for our divorce attorney's to work through - but I don't believe he would have a federal case against me.

He has kind of always been a little on the impulsive side. He has called me names like cun* and bitc* when we get into heated arguments. I know that at times when we get into an argument about somethings... say like... he is pissed off because I am trying to prove him wrong. He is highly competetitive and NEVER likes to be wrong! He does make about 6.00 more that me, and some of these arguments have lead to him saying that because he is the bread winner, I need to cut him some slack. He has stopped smoking weed, which this is the first time ever that he has been able to stick with it and I really know that he is done with it... but he also blames some of the irratability on the withdraws. It seems as if the spark is gone between us. I don't really even feel that passionate about him anymore and I am only 22 and he is 4 years older than me and everyone is telling me that I am too young to deal with this. In the beginning he was CRAZY!!! Like trying to get me to drop all my frineds and he was physical too, but that has compleatly stopped... But it is still the comments about how he is the "bread winner" and he has also said that I work a joke low life job and how I should quit and get a job that keeps me busier. I have expressed to him that with me being a fulltime student it is nice because I am allowed to do some homework at work. I have told him that, and his argument is that he is also a full time student and he sometimes works 50 hours a week and makes 6.00 more than me... he feels like if anything he deserves a job like that. It almost sounds like he is jelous and can't be happy for me. But I work 40 a week too, maybe I do not manage a warehouse like him but I am a bank teller... not really busy either. He gets especailly mad when I come home and have an occasional complaint about my job. Then he tells me to quit and says that I need to get a more stimulating job... when I ask him for ideas he says "data-entry".... I don't want to do data-entry. And he says that I am taking the easy way out while he is busting his ass. We did just move out of state last September and I can say that since I don't have my moms to go to anytime we have an argument, I am little more tense. I finally got sick of him always degrading me so I looked around at schools to get my LPN because I was going for my RN but it is a 2 year wait!!!! I could not find a school here in VA except for some techinal school that was outragously priced! So I found a school back in my home state that I can start in September and it is 21 months. I told him the situation and how we can visit each other all the time and he ws really cool with it.... BUt this is more along the lines of my originial question... His mom visited last week and she was asking me stuff like "Have you actually looked around everywhere?" and "Have you thought about just working during the 2 year wait?" and "Don't worry about the price, the average cost of a 4 year school is 30-50,000." and "Do you really love him, because you say you do but it does not seem like it." And I am like look lady, this is the second tme that I have met you... don't come in here acting like you have all of the answers. She us an RN herself, but acted like I was lying about a 2 year wait for nursing school. I looked everywhere and I could not find any school, and the ones I found were between 20-30,000!!! That is out f the question. When I was telling her about some of the things that he said to me reguarding the name calling, she would say stuff like "Oh, That is how all men are... You just have to grow a thick skin and realize that they are being an a**hole"... and she was telling me about ther live in boyfriend of 10 yearsand how he calls he names too, but she just puts up with it... and then found out from my boyfriend that he has been paying half of her bills for like 5 years. So it seems to me like she puts up with it because he pays her bills. BUt I was wondering if because his mom put up with it and he seen her put up with it, maybe he thinks that because he makes more than me and pays my bills he has the right to treat me how her boyfrined treats his mom. He recently begged me not to go to school back in Ohio, even though he knew for like 2 months that I ws going and never said a thing.... So I decided not to go, but then there have been 2 instances where he started the name calling again... and he has just been incredibly negative during conversation... and if I am talking to him about work or something he acts like he is not listenein, and when I ask him if he is listeneing, he get incredibly pissed off and just makes me want to be away from him. So I made the decision to go back home but it was under the circumstances of the way he has been treating me too... and he knows that. When he told his mom that I was leaving, not telling her why I am sure... she says "She must be going through some stage"... so I seriously think he does not know any different because his mom condones it. He has been changing, he met a new frined... he has no frineds or family here at all... and neither do I , which is also a reason why I want to go back. Which I feel like I am being selfish in some way. But I try to tell him why I am leaving, and he listens for like a couple minutes and then he is done listening. He does not want to go to counsiling but he also doe snot want to talk through our issues. He is being really really nice and sweet, but I still feel like I cannot get the things that he has said to me over the last 3 years out of my head and I need some closure. But he does not really want to talk about it, which in turn makes me feel like he is throwing my feelings aside. Is there something that I could do? Should I stay here and try to work it out? Or should I just go back and find myself again? I wanted to get my LPN so that I could come back here and be making as much as him, then he could not say that he is the bread winner!!! But now I feel guilty for leaving, but still have unanswered questions about how he sees me... does he see me as lower than him, and also I am worried that if I stay he is going to keep having issues with my d=job. Especially if I do stick it out here and do the RN program... because when I start I will not be able to work f/t anymore, and then I feel like it will get worse because I feel like the more I depend on him the worse it will get. He also been sayying stuff to me like " I need a woman".... and I know he is mad and that uis why he is saying that stuff... but when He founf out I put my 2 weeks in he closed the checking account and took me off of the car insurance... This one is complicated but its worth a try. Keep all of your Negative comments to your self. I purchased a brand new mustang in VA when I was really young to make a long story short I never insured it before driving off the lot. Paying for the car with out the dealerships financing may have hard something to do with it. I drove the car to New York were I lived. Me being young and Dumb I drive the car minus the insurance to a club downtown I parked the car in a parking garage. I still have the ticket. I made a police report and the car was never returned. I never did anything legally to retrieve the vehicle. That was in 2001 is there any way to try and sue the parking garage now? I realize its been a long time and being young played a lot in my dumb factor I don't need to hear that I'm fully aware of my silly mistakes all I need right now is help minus the criticism. None the less, we went back and forth because there was an issue with the bank transfer that was beyond my control which prompted me to do an investigation into the matter. I was in an auto accident in VA. I was the passenger of the vehicle and the person t-boned the entire side of the vehicle I was in. The person that hit us was at fault and received a ticket. They didn't have car insurance so my girlfriend’s car insurance is paying for everything. I was rushed to the ER and injured my neck, shoulder, chest, back and wrist. I am currently going to PT and OT. The physical therapist said I have musculoskeletal injuries. I have to take 4 different meds a day and I have chest pain several times a day. Geico would give me around $155/month just like esurance, progressive and the like. Though, the local statefarm agency said they'd give me a quote for half that much. Is there a way that I can keep my Virginia Insurance in South Carolina? I doubt that I will ever get a quote like that again in a big college town.

Well my insurance company won the case, and they paid my insurance company back for the automobile damage. They told me I had to sign a release form for my medical files and I just sent it back today. But I just want to know, am I entitiled to a compensation for pain and suffering and my whiplash injury?

It was my birthday and we were headed out to dinner. My partner and I were stopped at a red light when a drunk driver cut through several lanes of traffic and hit us head on. My truck was thrown back into the car behind us. The offending driver threw the engine in reverse and tried to leave but she was hooked to my truck. I jumped out to get her plate number but she couldn't go anywhere. Then she left on foot, but was eventually found and cited for DUI, hit and run, and colision.
My partner and I were taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital to be checked out as she was having chest pain and we were both having neck and back pain.
We have been going to the chiropractor since then. (This happened 4/2/8).

I am going to pay the payments on a car that afriend owns. Meaning when the car payment is due, I'll transfer the money to the account that the bank uses for the loan. I am going to do this for one year then finance the car in my name.
