I have a beautiful ten year old who is going on 30, lol . well she is turning eleven in Aug. I have no idea what type of theme to do for her party, I would like to avoid asking her as I want it to be a surprise. She is into the whole rock/gothic (kinda) stage. Straight A student , good citizen and excels at everything she has tried education wise. Oh and loves to read!! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
We have already done the Limited Too fashion party (big hit at 9)
Real live Bratz doll and make your own build-a-bear (big hit too at 8)
We skipped 10 birthday due to unfortunate financial situation, so this year I want to go all out but not too big, I wont have anything to do for her 16th lol, well unless I save and take her to Hawaii, lol
Open Question: I'm a US citizen and I'm planning to go back to the Philippines and study med. has anyone succeeded on this?
I'm looking for opinions from people who've done it and became succesfull doctors here in the US even if they had their med education in the Philippines, and if they did succeed what were the steps on how to go about succeeding in this type of plan. I know it can be done. it just takes a lot of time and effort and sacrifice too.
I'm also a graduate of UST with a Bachelor's degree in MT,
I wanted to go study med here in the US but it's too expensive... now I'm working as an MT to save enough and hopefully within the next three years go back and study proper med. Thank you to all.
Open Question: Special education.?
Alright. So I have been involved with special needs children since before I can remember. I'm 14. I love it. I give away my summers to help at ESY (Extended School Year) and I babysit for disabled kids. I can call myself an advocate. However, i swear there is a question here lol, I seem to I guess "overreact" when people say 'retard and retarded'. When people say it as "your retarded!" or "you retard!" in a joking way, i tell them not to day that word. they dont know what it means obviously. they say, "i wasnt saying it that way." it really pisses me off. I love my kids that i work with as if they were my own brothers and sisters or even my own children. people say retarded meaning it as "mentally retarded." that is NOT pollitically correct. the correct way to say it would be significantly disabled. or even mentally challanged. i dont understand why people say retard/retarded all the time, when they wouldnt DARE say the N word. It pisses me off that people say that, thinking it doesnt
....effect people with disabilities.
when someone says it, it triggers something in me that hurts. i wish that even parents would not only tell kids that the s/f/n/sh words are bad but retarded doesnt effect anyone and that its okay to say that. it hurts me to tell you the truth.

Open Question: I have BS in Dietetics (accredited by the CADE), am I eligible to take Registered Dietetic Technician exam?
I recently graduated from the university accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education with Bachelor of Science in Nutrition-Dietetics track. I want to take the registry exam to become a Registered Dietetic Technician (or Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR)), but I am not sure if I am eligible. According to the Commission on Dietetic Registration, path way to become a DTR is
completed a minimum of an Associate degree granted by a U.S. regionally accredited college or university;
completed a minimum of 450 supervised practice hours through a Dietetic Technician Program as accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association;
successfully completed the Registration Examination for Dietetic Technicians
Does this mean I have to complete 450 supervised practice hours through a Dietetic Technician Program? Or am I already eligible since I have BS in Dietetics??
Please help me. Thx in advance!

Open Question: Cannot live without kids and cannot live with wife?
Long story short, My 2nd and my wife's 3rd marriage ( her 2nd was with her brother-in-law to migrate to USA ) have two kids from this marriage 3 & 6 yrs. old, unbereable mental torturing, always initiating stupid arguments and fights, always putting me down is her hobby and time pass enjoyment, she has Bachelors degree and i have 2 yr degree, even though she cannot speak, write and communicate properly eg: cannot spell switzerland, cannot read and understand my sons pre-k grading report even though always reminds me she has more education and is smarter then me. support from her two sister and her mother makes this worse, they behave like they are supportiung me 100% financially, they stoped talking to me after an heated argument but every call about every 3-4 months is to fight and put me down from her sister. PL. ADVISE i am worried about my kids b'case in her family 15 yrs. old kid is raising other kids due to communication problems WHAT CAN I DO LEAVE TOGETHER OR SEPERATE
her lying about every thing makes it imposible for me to get custody. he is also spoiling kids so kids will love her and initiating hatered aganist me. if she gets custody then i will shatered to pieces like broken glass, just to avoid any argument i duct my mouth because every time she threatens that she will leave found marriage counselor as per her wish who speaks our language but she does not have time b'case kids keep them busy, when my MIL visited us for 8 mths i paid my MIL's R/T ticket to california and one way to India b'case she visits india tickets bought by her daughter's and not by her son or other unmarried well to do single sister and told me i did not paid $$ my MILfor her baby sitting my new born daughter while my wife was housewife and not working
No bragging but i am bread winner and even though she visited her sister 3X here sister here in USA and two to her family in india in last 6 yrs.
Open Question: Wasn't Phil Gramm correct? America has turned into a nation of whiners?
Sadly, it's true. Far too many people are now all about "How can I get something for nothing?" and "It's the government's fault that I can't succeed...it has nothing to do with me not bothering to get an education and not working hard".
How did this great country become so infected with such a poor attitude? Personally, I date the beginning of the end to the decadent Sixties. That's when people became more interested in the whole "me, me, me" thing than in sacrificing for the whole.
adam: That's hilarious! When has any Dem EVER told anyone to take responsibility for his own actions?
green: Nobody forced anyone to buy a home they couldn't afford. If you make enough to afford a $100K home and took out an ARM to purchase one for $500K, you're a moron and get what you deserve.
madd: You're as full of it on this subject as you were regarding the waste of DNA whio refused to follow orders and lower the flag as his employer told him to do in honor of Sen. Helms.
The fact that there exists such an organization as the NAACP proves my point. Nobody owes African Americans one iota of anything more than is due people of all races. People would be going apesh*t if we organized an NAAWP.
adam: No, I don't blame rape victims. There are NO "victims" of the mortgage crisis. Anyone stupid enough not to read the fine print regarding the largest investment they're likely to make deserves whatever happens. I reiterate: If you can realistically afford a $100K home, don't enter into a binding legal agreement to purchase one for $500K and then whine about the big bad bank.

Open Question: just a coincidence, RIGHT?
heres the deal, we are both seniors who just graduated from high school. it was another day in class (drivers education). i did not know this girl, and she did not know me. we are complete strangers.
today in class, it was close to lunchtime. she stood up, and went to throw something out in the garbage (front of the class). then she turned her body and face towards the teacher (who was close to my direction) and asked if we could go now. everything was normal so far. however, after asking the teacher, she directly moved her face (eyes) to me (right when the teacher started answering). I WAS CAUGHT LOOKING. but i did not look away, and so we made eye contact for about 3 seconds. also, it looked like she smiled close to the end of the eye contact.
so was this just a coincidence that we made eye contact (longer than socially acceptable, seeing that we are strangers), or could she actually be interested (just interested, not actually LIKE me)?
high school seniors, college and university students, help thank you

After all these comic book movies I want to know what the origional story was. But the comic books are worth more than my college education so no real way to read the story. I like the idea of reading the comics my dad once read as a child. But i went on DC and Marvel site and i could not find the origional comics. could it be so difficult to scan these few origional comics and share? Add a watermark if there is a copyright issue. Does someone know if these can be found online?
i found it on marvel. didnt look hard enough. but you have to pay for it...

Open Question: transportation to college?
hi, i'm from the southern east coast and am seriously considering applying to Stanford and/or Berkeley but my parents won't let me because of transportation costs (i'm already going to have to have multiple scholarships, loans, etc no matter where i go, so the actual cost of education isn't the problem). is it absolutely necessary to fly, or is the trip feasible in a car/truck? which would be cheaper (taking into account that it would probably take more than one suitcase to initially move my things out there... and i think airlines charge more for extra bags)? should i even apply at all? i hate to give up a good education because of distance, but it is a huge obstacle (my parents are another.....lol).
Open Question: Why do some people look down on community colleges?
I find it appalling that some people look down on EDUCATION.
It absolutely amazes me.. it's a step on the way to a bachelor's and a master's degree, besides, not all of us can afford to start out at a university, so what is the problem?
I have my high school diploma, I was never held back once, and I am using my CC credits to transfer to a university to continue my education and get my bachelor's degree. If that is "not a real education" then so be it, we'll see where I'm at a few years down the road. =D
I would rather not be like some of my friends who dropped out of HS and won't even bother to try to get their GED.. that is just sad.

Open Question: I hate having young bosses?
I quit my last two jobs because of one reason: My bosses immature, younger and less educated than me.
It irks me when they put someone in charge that is young enough to be my son, has no college education, and no life experience. Yet they put him/ her in a managerial role because they have talent.
My job 8 years ago was in a hotel I was 32y.o, AA degree. My boss at that time was 18y.o, highschool diploma, serious and determined. Yet I got overlooked for the job because he appeared to be the more "managerial type." Then when he bossed me around in front of my best friend. I was humilated. I quit 2 weeks later.
Then my last hotel concierge job I was age 40y.o. with 2 college degrees--AA degree, BA degree, more life experience, more hotel experience .and they promoted a 19 yr old girl above me. (I had sex with her). But she thought she could boss me around. I dumped her and I quit. She was unqualified. So much age discrimination. So is it young talent vs age??? what do you think?
Open Question: What benefits do you receive when you join the UK army?
Currently being deployed in Iraq (american soldier) I ran into a few English Soldiers. Really good people. Anyways, after speaking with them I was wondering what kinda benefits you recieve in the UK Millitary. I myself joined the US Army because i had nothing left (legally). Most americans i think join our army for the education benefits and healthcare. Those are the two biggest resasons i found. SO knowing what i assume to be correct those things are considered standerd in the UK education and health care so i figured there must be something. Some sort of awesome benefit you recieve for being that army i was wondering what they were.
Open Question: Worthwhile?
Do you ever feel like your worthless? I am 31, two kids, married 12 years. High School and technical school education. Was in nursing for several years and then got out of it all together. Now I'm an admin in a dead end job for the past 8 years. I've seen others go to college and never work for what they went for anyway. (At my job, a girl has a bachelors in music and is a clerk opening mail and all.) With the economy I wish I went on to college but at the younger part of my life I didnt want to spend all the money if it wasnt what I really wanted to do.
Open Question: How to teach someone the value of a dollar?
Hey, is there anyway I can teach my girlfriend the value of a dollar? I don't think she does, and I feel it is really important that she does.
We've been pretty serious for about 3.6 years, and we've been talking about marriage and plans and so forth. We will both be rising juniors next fall, so we still have a bit of school left, but it never hurts to plan. When I get out of school, I should have about 10k-20k debt max, and she'll have about 80k+.
We got talking about engagement rings, and I asked a rough price range, and she said about 10k, which frankly shocked me. I mean I thought 4k-5k was steep. Additionally, she wants to be a stay at home mom, but wants to get an MBA before settling down, which I feel is just waste money. Thus, it's like I'm supposed to pick up the tab for her education, her ring, and our house on one income (~60k-70k [nuclear engineer]).
Is it justified for her to want this? Or is she being a little demanding? If so, what should I do? w/o leaving
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be out with a master's a year or two before she does (she's taking a 5 yrs B.S., and I'm in a 5 yr B.S./M.S. program).
Most of my BS is funded, but master's may not be. The 80k for her figure included 50k from undegrad and roughly 30k for the MBA (instate).
She wants kids before she is 30, and I'm pretty sure she won't have school paid for, that's why I would have to foot the rest. I want her to work part-time once the kid(s) get in school, but that's another issue altogether.
I've proposed the no kids till school is paid for, hoping that would discourage her from an MBA, which would go to no use. She says if I die or something, she'll need to work...which she should be doing anyway, in my opinion. Her mom was stay-at-home...mine wasn't...hence the controversy.
I can't ditch her. I know I should based on the numbers, but I can't...I really do love her, and I just want her to understand.

Open Question: Please help me! I want to become a psychologist, but my undergrad major is not in psychology. What do I do?
Oh, I am so grateful for this website! I have been banging my head against a wall for a few weeks now because I don't know where to turn for help re: this matter. Here is the deal: I graduated from New York University in 2003 with a BA in Music Education, but this is no longer my passion. My heart and my interest are in psychology. I want to go to school to become a psychologist, but I don't think I will be accepted by any grad schools because while at NYU, I didn't major in Psychology and I didn't take any psych classes. I have no problem going back to school (undergrad) and taking grad school required classes but I don't even know where to begin or what classes to take to be accepted into a psych grad program. If anyone can help me, I would be so unbelievably grateful. Please, whatever insight you feel like you may be able to offer me would be amazing and highly appreciated!
Open Question: Who Is Right And Who Is Wrong?
Today there are approximately 10 basic World Religions, each with a different way of approaching God, through some self-proclaimed prophet or man made system of worship, which I have listed here in alphabetical order, including Christianity for the purpose of this study.
There is (1) Bahai, (2) Buddhism, (3) Christianity, (4) Cults, (5) Hinduism, (6) Islam, (7) Judaism, (8) New Age, (9) Occults, and (10) Sirhism.
Then, there are those considered as New Religions or Cults numbering approximately 16, such as Scientology, and some that are even dressed in the cloak, disguise and appearance’s of Christianity, like Jehovah Witness and Mormonism.
Then there are those I refer to as Scientific religions, that involves, (or attempts to involve) themselves in other field’s, like Christian Science, (which according to the scriptures is neither Christian nor Science.)
Now, among the Scientific religions, there are those that examines the relationship between science and belief in God, i.e. Creation, Education, Evolution, and Intelligent Design. Where in the concept of beliefs or religions, in general, we come to the Occults; also known as Wicca, Witchcraft, and Black Magic.
And last but not least (for the purpose of this study) I have included other philosophical thoughts of beliefs and disbelief’s as, Agnosticism, Atheism, Skepticism and Radicalism.
So, in the scope of beliefs and disbelief’s, the questions asked- (1) What makes one belief right and the others wrong? (2) Who is right, and who is wrong? (3) What is truth (echoing the words of Pilate during the trail of Jesus,) or What is a lie
Got to hand it to you Cheese Bob on your remarks - In all of reality, and based on simple logic, only one of them can be right and others are all wrong, or none of them is right.
Youre right enter both are false or another is true.
But they both can not be true at the same time and in the same manner.
PS: Thats either not enter!

Open Question: learning math as an adult?
I have diagnosed learning disabilities and have ever since i was a child. I was in special education but i believe that the system failed me because i managed to graduate without many basic math skills. how can i now as an adult who has gone through h.s. and college w/out math help learn these basic math skills? Are there classes i can take or people i can turn to for support?
I want to learn so i can better my life and my career but i have no place to turn. what can you suggest i do for help.
I specifically have issues in the areas of:
Division (i have no concept at all of how to divide, even using a calculator)
Multiplication (i can do basic single digit but only on a calculator, cannot remember my "times tables" and have always had to use a multiplication chart)
time (i still cannot tell time on a non-digital clock)
money (i cannot count change or count large bills w/out the aid of a calculator)
fractions (i have not ever learnt how to do fractions)
Also because i was in a self-contained classroom i was never exposed to alegbra, calculus or trig....
Here is the thing: i actually did graduate high school as well as college, i have a Bachelor's degree; but my knowledge of math is simply very poor.
My hunch is that if it was explained in terms that i can relate to and understand i would be able to retain the information, but the issue for me has always been that i was given so much information i couldn't process it, nobody has ever been able to break it down enough for me to process it.
Open Question: please help me with suggestion?
i am in a 4yr college just finished my freshman however i failed to pass my math remedial class meaning i am kick out of the university. till i pass the class. so i am confused on whether to take a semester off & go to community college and pass the class then return to and continue my education at the university or just withdraw from the university and finish off my education at community college my major is nursing and i am currently on financial aid the my university. so what is my best option? thanks
Open Question: Question???
After living here the last 5 years I have learned that racism will continue to thrive as long as Black people continue to live the path they have been following. What do I mean by this you ask? My senior year in high school I was amazed and shocked at the fact that all the kids eating free or reduced lunch were wearing $130 Jordan’s. In college, I noticed all the kids receiving a free education were being dropped off by parents driving $50,000 Cadillac’s on 22inch rims, or on the football team and didn’t know how to read. Now as an adult I notice where a lot of my tax money is being spent. On educational programs providing free lunches to “underprivileged kids,” grants for college, EBT (food stamps,) section 8, wic, and every other program offering assistance to mainly Black lazy people who don’t believe in working for what they have or want. If I could do it and if my family could do it, why in the hell cant Black people do it? Its called a job, along with earning respect, and treating others with respect.
Now for the RANT portion of my post.
For the past year I have been working a second job part-time as a server/waiter at a very popular restaurant for Black people, Applebee’s. I guess it’s the riblets and skrumps, for the people who actually speak proper English that meant shrimp. I guess I have learned to tolerate the laziness I have witnessed in Black people. However, what I have not learned to tolerate is the incredibly nasty attitudes Black people demonstrate on a daily basis especially in a restaurant setting. Below are some of the questions I would love to have answers to. If you could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.
1. Why do you find it okay to treat everybody like shit?
2. Why do you find it okay to run me around like a “slave” and leave me $.14 cents on a $79.86 check?
3. Do you know that a server only makes $2.13 an hour?
4. Why can’t you “ax” me nicely for another 8 ramekins of ranch?
5. Why do you only eat steak extra-well done, but not expect it to be burnt or dry?
6. Why do you find it okay to order a meal, and then send it back and expect not to pay for it, simply because you changed your mind?
7. Why do you Black men always let your White girlfriends pay the bill?
8. Why do you charge $20 on your debit card and pay the remaining $13 in cash?
9. Do you really not have $33 in your account to pay for the entire meal?
10. Why do you think our chemical and heat sanitation system in our kitchen not going to work as well as a glass of hot water at your table?
11. Is it really easier to eat your extra-well done steak with plastic silverware?
12. Do you know they make a lot more salad dressings than just ranch?
13. Do you really find it okay to roll up wit yo 16 homeboys at 11:59 pm when we close at 12am?
14. And expect to receive the best service ever?
15. Do you know we sell lemonade and you don’t need to make it with 11 lemon wedges and 24 packets of sugar?
16. Do you know that when you ax for a boof, it’s really called a booth?
17. Do you know it’s actually okay to acknowledge your server when he greets you, you really don’t need to ignore him?
18. Did you know 99.99% of the hair you find in your food, is really nylon or horse hair from your girlfriends weave?
19. Do you know it’s pretty disgusting when you put yo fronts or grill piece on a napkin next to your plate on the table?
20. Do you know that if you can’t afford a $.50 cent refill on your flavored lemonade, you shouldn’t be eating out in the first place?
21. Do you know Jesus does not like it when you come to Applebee’s from church on Sundays and treat your server like shit?
22. Do you understand that if you go out to eat on the weekend during normal dinner hours, you may have to wait for a table?
23. Do you know we actually do not have a special table waiting for you when you show up?
24. Do you know we do not have a table to fit all 65 members of your family for your annual family reunion?
25. Do you know that if you do show up with 65 members of your family, all of your food will not come out at the same time?
26. Do you know that if you tell me I am the best server you have ever had in your entire life, I expect more than $1 dollar?
27. Ohh, and did you know $2 dollars on your $148 check is not a good tip?
28. Wait, did you even know that gratuity should be based on a percentage?
29. Do you know that in order to place your plate on the table, my thumb has to touch the border of your plate?
30. Do you know that most servers including myself do not understand or speak mumbling or ebonix?
31. Do you know Applebee’s does not carry orange or grape soda?
32. Do you know that if you are going to stay in my booth and take it up for 3 ½ hours and leave me $.14 cents, I will not make any money?
33. Do you know that other guests in the restaurant do not like it when you yell across to yo cuz… at the top of your lungs?
34. Why do you not eat tomatoes?
35. How in the world do you know we have a chicken finger and riblet basket? They are not even on the menu?
36. Do you know that every time a Black table walks into a restaurant, every server in the restaurant wishes that table will not be theirs?
37. Why do Black people go out to eat so late every single day? Is it because you don’t have jobs and you don’t have to be up early?
38. Do you know that calling corporate to complain about bad service will get you a free coupon for a free meal? Ohh wait, you do know that, because every single Black table always has a corporate coupon…
39. Do you know that I have to pay for your meal when you walk out, because you were upset your extra-well steak was dry?
40. Do you know all I wish for is that you would take a moment and think WWJD, before you open your mouth and give me that nasty ass attitude every time you walk into my restaurant?
Open Question: Random questions about Australia?
I'm English but have always been really interested in Australia - largely thanks to Neighbours, Home and Away and Heartbreak High.
I've got some random questions I wondered if people could answer:
1. Is Australia the same as is portrayed in the soaps - i.e. people go round their neighbours houses all the time, people are really laid back?
2. Do people really like Vegemite (again everyone in Neighbours seems to be eating it)?
3. Why do you have loads of big-engined sports cars like in America/Canada (we don't have hardly any V8's over here)?
4. Does it feel strange going from state to state and having to adjust to a different time?
5 Why are highways and high schools so called? We call them motorways and Further Education colleges/colleges over here.
6. I heard that Callan Mulvey aka Drazic in Heartbreak High was involved in a car crash a few years ago. How's he getting on now?
That's all for now..............
Open Question: With regards to education or business what is considered leadership?
Open Question: Pure Mathematics Major graduate--what jobs are available?
My situation is that I just recently graduated from my undergraduate program with honors (Cum Laude) + a Bachelor's in Mathematics (not Math education). I was a tutor for a year, and I've taken such classes like Calc 4, Differential Equations, Probabilty & Statistics (only statistics course ever though), Matrix and Linear Algebra 2, etc....
I'm just lost as to what I can actually use this background for, job-wise! What is out there that would take a recent graudate from an undergrad program in Math (and hopefully pay somewhat better than say, Mc Donalds >.>) ????
Open Question: Aside from a veterinarian, what other college course animal career paths can one take?
What I mean is that, I would not be able to work as a vet, I find that it'd be too difficult for me considering my state of mind when I deal with anything hospital related.
However, I definetly want to get a college education and work with animals, so what other jobs need a college education involving animals?
Also, what kinds of things should I do in high school to be successful in an animal occupation?
Open Question: Will A DWI Conviction prevent me from becoming a teacher in ct?
I recieved a dwi in 2006 but I participated in the state's "Alcohol Education Program," so I am fairly certain that this was expunged and will not show up on a background check. Unfortunately, I was arrested and convicted of a DWI in Feb '08. I have since started attending AA meetings and have remained sober. I have a strong GPA at a well known university and wish to pursue a career as a teacher. Most people I talk to tend to eqivocate on the matter, so I was wondering, does anyone know, with any certanity, how stringent Ct is when it comes to becoming a teacher. Any help would be greatly appeciated
Open Question: How impossible is it to be a teacher and move elsewhere for a higher salary and better opportunities?
My sister is a teacher in Indiana and she hates where she teaches, but there's nowhere else to go. She uses the excuse that she can't move anywhere else in the country because she will have to pay for renewing her license by taking multiple college classes wherever she goes. Then she also says that she will have to start at the bottom again and going for tenure will take even longer. She only makes like 50k and has been in the field for 15 years and isn't doing the type of teaching she wanted to do. She's previously been a Catholic Principal and has a double Master's degree in Administration and Elementary Education. Now she's teaching again and making less money than when she was a Principal (the nuns pushed her out), but at least it's work.
Is it really that difficult for her as she says? Because I'm kind of sick of hearing her complain when I personally move all over the place for better opportunities.
Open Question: Are you still unclear on what "change" means?
Obama is very specific about an energy policy which will not drill up our coasts but rather provide jobs to the American people.
He has plans to keep funding Faith Based Initiatives but only for the purposes that they can help with the growing level of poverty in the USA... he will not rely on them to provide public education the way Bush has done.
Barack Obama wants to fund teacher's salaries to get a better class of educators in the public sector.
Barack Obama wants to make good on our promise to the Military to provide them with all the healthcare and education they need when he brings them home from Iraq.
Obama wants to continue what should have been our mission in Afghanistan which is to bring justice to the terrorist network which took down the WTC...
Barack Obama wants is running a campaign that is not based on personal attacks and does not accept money from multi-national or corporate lobbyists or your taxes...
McCain cannot claim the above.
Any questions?
Open Question: project????
list some topics of environmental education of class 11 for project???
Open Question: The hardest choice of my life!!!?
Ok... I just found out that the way my credits and courses are set up, I can finish high school in 3 years instead of 4. Of course, I will talk to the school counselor about it. I just don't know if I should skip a year or not. I'm not very social, so it wouldn't really matter if I were with my friends or not. I plan on taking a lot of college classes (I plan to be a surgeon), so why wait an extra year? My main focus in life is school and education. My load would NOT be tougher if I finished in 3 years...
What should I do??
Open Question: Anybody go to University of Maryland Eastern Shore?
I'm gonna be a freshman next month at UMES and I was just wondering if there were anybody that presently attends the Shore. What should I expect, is it a fun place to be, is the education good, nearby things to do...
Open Question: "Hidden Gems" is this a smart way to search for colleges?
Im an incoming 9th grader and i was wondering if this was a smart way to act... i want to go to a GOOD college, i don't really care if i don't get into ivies, i want a GOOD education. i've read articles that there are superb and even better colleges than ivy leagues that are affordable and more personal.
I don't want to pressure myself with applying to Ivies like my friends are, they look like cold, impersonal robots too stressed out to think clearly. I always believe in trying my hardest in School, i was even enrolled in Stanford's EPGY program for talented kids... but i still didn't get why students and parents overlook the "hidden gems".
I recently visited Pomona College,Amherst,Northwestern,Emory,Evergreen College, Pitzer and Whitman...
Some colleges you might never have heard of because they are not "Brands". I was really surprised to see that the professors were more accommodating and the learning environment excellent, the cost was AMAZING compared to Stanford's $50,000.
So i was wondering... Is this smart? or should i go to Stanford, since i am a legacy and know most of the professors as a frequent EPGY participant i am most likely to get in...
Grazie e Arrivederci
Open Question: Can I be a teacher?
I have one year left to get my bachelor's degree in business but now I am considering being an elementary ed teacher in NC. I want to get my business degree because I could do anything with it and it's something to fall back on. I was just wondering if I could teach in NC with a bachelor's in business and a master's in education. Also, would NC pay for my school if I signed a contract to teach for them?
Open Question: is he giving up on us?
Me and my boyfriend have been together for two and half years, he is moving an hour and half away for university in september... and just recently we have been finding things difficult, we are arguing, he seems distant, im always upset and cant stop worrying that I am going to lose him. he has also said that his feelings arent the same as before, he still loves me and doesnt want to finish with me... but i cant help feeling thats what he thinking deep down and perhaps that he wants to start a new fresh life without me when he does start Uni... i know and understand that his education is important and have helped him get out of a bad crowd to do well in college. so i wouldnt dream of getting in the way of uni for him.
I think that if we love eachother why cant we give it a try? is he giving up on me though? or am i just thinking and worrying too much?
Open Question: Hugs! What do you think about states like CA giving free tuition to illegals? Is it fair to taxpayers?
http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/2008-07-06-Illegaled_N.htm
Some states are making it harder for illegal immigrants to attend college by denying in-state tuition benefits or banning undocumented students.
