I recently found some pills in my daughters drawer with some research I found out they are Acetaminophen-hydrocodone-bitartrate. Before I confront I want to be prepared to know what they would do to a person not perscribed to them. I want to know what type of I guess "high" she gets from them. I feel that I need to understand more about this drug before I confront her about them. I know when I was younger I got curious and made mistakes and I also learned that haing an adult just yelling at me about it didnt help at all. If anyone knows what this drug does (Acetaminophen-hydrocodone-bitartrate) if not prescribed to you. or even if it is prescribed to you. side effects? She is prescribed to Lorazepam so could that mixture be a major health risk? can you even get a "high" off this drug? My daughter has to have some dental work on Wednesday, and she will not use the gas because it really messes with her tummy. Benadryll has NO effect on her, as far as causing drowsiness.. so I was told to ask her pediatrician for a little assistance. He told me that he would give her ONE tablet of Lorazepam. It is supposed to be used in these kind of situations, but I have never heard of it before. Is there anyone out there that has had experience with it. She is 9.

I'd always thought of benzos as "happy pills" that make you forget all your troubles and that let you experience some sort of euphoria. WRONG!
I was recently prescribed lorazepam for my anxiety, and I take it as prescribed by my doctor, and it helps me really well. My question, however, is why people take benzos recreationally? It helps me a lot with my anxiety, but I can't imagine why anyone would want to overdose on this stuff?
In my experience, benzos only provide therapeutical benefits. Yet, drug abusers eat this stuff like candy from what I've heard, and also make it difficult for people who really need it to get it, since doctors are used to so many people lying to them just to get benzos.
Could someone who has any experience with drug abuse or abusers enlighten me?

I've had this on and off for about 5 years, was previously on Paxil for long term treatment, with lorazepam (Ativan) for acute onset symptoms. Remained symptom-free for about a year after slowly weaning off Paxil (horrible side effects to that drug for me, including weight gain and hair loss!). Then my son joined the Army, trained, and right before he deployed BOOM it's baaack!! Deep, slow breathing, singing, or laughing at jokes helps. All cardiac tests normal.

I was prescribed Lorazepam (1 mg) by my oncologist for the anxiety I get a few days before my chemo treatments. She told me to start with 1 pill, and if that didn't work I could take up to 3 at a time (so 3 mg. total). I tried 3 mg for a few days in a row and felt, well...nothing. No relaxation, no alleviation of anxiety, not even tired. She then prescribed me Diazapam (10mg) hoping that trying a different drug might work. I was told to try 1 pill a day at bedtime or when I felt super anxious and see what happened. If nothing, then take 1 and 1 half (so 15 mg). Again...I have no reaction to any of these drugs. I've never used any of these drugs before my cancer diagnosis/chemo treatments. Shouldn't that much of a drug offer me at least some releif? I'm a 33 yr old female, avg. weight, never taken anything for anxiety before this. What could be going on?
To the first answerer....if you were truly a physician you would never tell someone to stop takign drugs BEFORE speaking to their Dr.! To the second person...I will mention Xanax,,,perhaps that will work. I only take these drugs on an as needed basis, which is usually just a few days before chemo. To the last person...having Cancer at 33 and going through treatment is an anxiety ridden thing in itself, but it's the dread of knowing I will be sick after that gets me really upset. There is really nothing they can do for me as far as that goes. I do go to accupuncture and try to meditate....but I feel right now I need mediCATE not mediTATE lol.
Unfortunately, I can't adjust the pre-meds since they prevent my horrible reactions to the chemo I get. I asked my Dr. if I could maybe not take them, lessen the dosage and she was like "Um..no, or we can't give you the chemo". After chemo I'm nto nauseus or anything...just feel total exhaustion, like..not getting out of bed for days exhaustion. Cancer sucks. To the other person who answered, I always thought I SHOULD feel something....but now that I know that maybe I shouldn't be feeling anything much in the way of floaty..spacey..etc..

my psychiatrist has told me to cut down the above mentioned drugs.i am scared to do this through fear of side affects and my anxiety returning,he has not told me how much to cut down by or made any sort of chart to help.any suggestions please.
temazepem i take 1 at night as prescribed,and lorazepam should be twice a day,but i had a drug addiction 7 months ago associated with bi polar and i started taking 4 to 5 lorazepam per day.the doctor just said cut down because i feel tired all the time.

I wrote in last week about the overdose I took and things have changed due to the silly thing I did I have had pain in my chest and stomach and the doctor has put me on pantoprazol for that but have now had to put me on a stronger drug called nolotil.
aswell as this the mental department have put me on citalopram and lorazepam for the anxiety.
I have had no appetite for 10 days at all because of the pain and have eaten next to nothing, at no time has anybody checked me pysically is this correct I am in a forigen country so any help and advice would help, still have a lot going on so I know the depression will take some time to work on but I do not want to have anxiety over pysical problems.

i have a few disorders/mental illnesses which include severe depression(suicidal) almost borderline bi polar, in my opinion, ocd, and high anxiety...i used to see a physc. a while back but got waaay to expensive so i stopped seeing him, i got my xanax from him, which was the first anti anxiety med i ever took, it worked quite well for me, along with prozac that was given to me, i since then have taken clonazepam and lorazpem, with clonazepam making me very irritable and lorazepam not really working as well as the xanax, maybe because it was a low dosage i dont know, but im supposed to see a doc early next month and want to know what is the best anxiety pill, along with my other illnesses that may help with that too, if its possible, i really like xanax, and not to get high, i know just mentioning that people will assume that i have drug seeking behavior and i hate that but it does work wonders for me, please help!

I took .5mg Ativan (Lorazepam) on friday, and then another 2mg on saturday spread throughout the day at 4 different times (.5mg each time, all doses taken with 7 hours). I take an MAOI: Parnate. I've taken it for over 10 years and it works pretty well. Well, now they have a generic and once I ended up with that in my prescription and felt terrible switching to it; like it made me feel bad and didn't work.
Since then, I've tried to insist on the brand name but the pharmacies and even the Doctor have wanted to give me the new generic. It's easier to get, I have so much trouble with my mail in pharmacies, etc.
I feel that it makes a difference: Brand name/generic? Any ideas? I want to possibly benefit from the generic but I'm not convinced it's as good (I know it's the same drug, but..well) If I try and switch over more slowly this time (mix it, like changing dog food), is it worth a try? Any experience out there with this and psyc drugs? I can't tell the difference with ATIVAN and my new Lorazepam.

I know the pills don't contain the same exact ingredients, but I'm thinking if the drug inside is the same I should be able to get used to it slowly. Also, my doctor isn't resistant to prescribing the brand name, I just keep having mess ups with the mail-in pharmacies.
And my expert doc is always out of the country, so sometimes I have to rely on back up doctors to write up scrips when they don't know me. Just will take MORE WORK.

I was diagnosed in 1997 with bipolar disorder at 15. I've switched doctors a few times.
My current doctor has me on a bunch of drugs but a question I asked about Lorazepam and Temazepam sparked my interest as to how my tolerence has been built up to these benzodiazepines.
I have been taking 2 mg of Clonazepam for years now before bed. My doctor gave me a perscription for Lorazepam as well saying to take 3 to 4 at bedtime. I also have a perscription for Temazepam (30 mg) and he said to take 1 at bed time.
I have an extremely difficult time falling asleep I have racing thougts.
I'm concerned about the tolerance I have built up to benzodiazepines. Are they doing anything now?
Also I read they are only supposed to be used for 2-4 weeks!
It takes me about 3-5 hours to really wake up after I get out of bed.
I'm not consistent with the times I take my doses which I'm sure contributes to the problem.
Is there a way to stop taking the benzodiazepines? Withdrawl?

I nevous aroudn sharp things. For the dentist I take 2 0.5 mg of lorazepam before a cleaning or filling. For shots in my arm I need more that that. I will take 2 1mg pills of lorazepam prior to the shot. I took 2 of the 1 mgs before i was supposed to hav blood taken today to calm me. It didnt work. As long as I take the medication as prescribed, is it safe to take percocet and morphine together at the same time? Later in the hospital the only thing that came back in his blood work was benzodiazepines. It turned out his wife had Lorazepam at home that she failed to mention. He also had alot of Alcohol in his system. I thought that Narcan only worked on Opiate based drugs. If it works also on Benzos, does it work on all Benzos or just Lorazepam?

My girlfriend is taking these four medications for anxiety, depression, and agoraphobia, and yes they are prescribed by a Dr. After weaning off of Lorazepam, she started getting seizures, hence the Dilantin. Prior to getting on these medications, she used to use Allegra-D for allergies. She's had severe allergies now for about two weeks and would like to take some of the Allegra she has left over. Will this combination of drugs be hazardous?
Correction, she *tried* to slowly wean off the Lorazepam but she got withdrawal seizures, so she's still on Lorazepam.
Dilantin didn't stop the seizures. One day Walgreen's wouldn't refill her Lorazepam because of a mistake on the Dr's office part. She went about 15 hrs without it but took her Dilantin on time. She had a seizure anyway.

My doctor says it will take about 2 weeks to feel any relief from anxity. I have some Ativan (Lorazepam) at home and was hoping I could take that when I have trouble sleeping or have a particulalry bad day until the Paxil kicks in. I am taking 225 mg of Effexor XR once a day and I also take lorazepam. My dr. has suggested that I take a very small dose of Risperidone (.5 mg) once a day to see if this helps with my depression. I am concerned about side effects of this medication so I wondered if anyone had first hand knowledge of this drug. Although it is just a very tiny dose, I know that it can cause weight gain. I am already very overweight and would not want to add any extra weight to my frame. Plus I wonder if it makes you sleepy during the day. If anyone has additional information about this drug, above and beyond what I have asked, please feel free to provide it.

I have started to feel nausea and vomitting. Could this be due to the fact that I am taking a lower dose? This is my doctor's recommendation to slowly get me off the drug, as I am also taking 20 mg of generic Celexa a day.
I have been sleeping too much since I started taking both drugs. I am sleeping like 12 hours a day and still tired all the time,but not always tired enough to sleep.

Oh! I've taken Vicodin for the pain I was in when all four of my wisdom teeth were removed at once. Do benzos make you feel the same way? I was just extremely lethargic on Vicodin to the point where I couldn't function or think straight!

I take Lorazepam. Found out today my hair drug testing results came back positive stating my results found Methamphetamine 55.5 cg/10mg (which I'm clueless to this number) What the heck has caused this kind of false info and where is info backing up the impacts Lorazepam has had on my test. Now, I am off of all of those drugs besides lorazepam. I get the tightening in my chest, feel like I can't breathe, feel like im suffucating, & my stomach does cartwheels many times over.
PS, i stopped going to my psychiatrist(s). I got tired of "testing" drugs and I got tired of the side effects of the drugs--and they wouldnt relieve my major issue-- ANXIETY. (I tried lamictal, depakote, seroquel)---and couldnt tolerate the side effects. My brain isnt foggy anymore, so i DO feel better drug-free but I do still get anxiety!!! Help! anyone have any tricks to do---or herbs u use to calm yourself down?
Veronica, I am sorry. I have never experienced what you are talking about-- "I get some weird sensations around my mouth and cheeks. It feels like a numb/tingly/weak feeling"
I do get the tingly feeling sort of through my entire body but I don't recall it ever being by my mouth. My arms and BODY get tingly, hairs standing straight up--type-thing.
I really only had a few mini-panic attacks before my dad passed away-and now i get these major attacks often. It is miserable when it happens. I had always heard of people getting this, but I had NO clue how terrible it is.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I guess I will just have to try and find something to work for me. I do have some lorezapam left, so that will help me for awhile. But after that I just really want to learn to deal w/it on my own. I don't want to get addicted to any medications!

I am researching this topic as a man died and was found to have 0.75 milligrams of lorazpepam in his bloodstream at autopsy. I want to know how long it would of taken the tablets to hit his bloodstream, how long it would be present for roughly and what the effect of such a dose would of been. Obviously as mentioned he did die, but the drugs were only part of the cause. He also had none present in his urine, is this normal??? Thanks any help given will be a massive help.

My doctor says that this drug will give almost natural sleep but I will become an addict and may require higher dosage in the long run. Can I have a different solution? I may not be able to do a lot of physical exercises, I have no other health problem except hypertension(blood pressure) which is under control by a different medicine . Wellbutrin Sr 150 mg
Lorazepam 0.5 mg
and Doxepin 50 mg? He (my boyfriend) is also suppose to be taking Risperdal 4 mg but he doesn't take it because of the Zombie like side effects he says he gets. Please any help from a doctor if possible would be helpfull to me. He has mood swings and paranoid thinking almost daily.
