  • Resolved Question: Need some advise about Lorazepam medicine.?
Hello! I'm 27 y.o guy (a wheelchair user). There has been real tough times for me in life. Along with anxiety problem, I do have some back issues as well. But I think it even makes my anxiety worse, when I think about my health. I also get nervous easily and my heart rate than goes up to a 100 or more. I have Lorazepam prescribed by my doctor long time ago, but mostly never take it. Today I was just feeling anxious and nervous, so I took 0,5 mg Lorazepam pill. It works good to calm me down, but it does make me fatigue and sleepy. Is there any other medicine (as good as lorazepam) that can calm you down, but not make you sleepy. I would really appreciate your help! Thanks
  • Resolved Question: All types of anxiety/Depression/Almost Psychosis get the same medicine, then why different diagnosis made ?
In most of the psychosis or Anxiety/depression the same single drug works then why there are many type of medicines for the same to treat. Whether anxiety phobia, social anxiety, panic attacks, depresson-SSRI,Benzodiazapine works, like wise in Schizophrenia, MDP, other functional or organic psychosis Olanzapine / Risperidone works-then why different diagnosis. Why not the lessen the number of the disorder to facilitate the treatment. As When Olanzapine/Risperidone solves many psychotic disorder, so why many other molecules are in market.Alprazolam, Diazepam, Lorazepam,Nitrazepam, then why more and more zams are coming in the market almost every day claiming their supriority over other ? Is it lmprovement or marketing by introducing more and more drugs in developing country which is a big market for them as well for trials.
  • Resolved Question: How do you know for sure, if you are really a nurse?
You know you're a nurse if... You believe every patient needs TLC: Thorazine, Lorazepam and Compazine. You would like to meet the inventor of the call light in a dark alley one night. You believe not all patients are annoying ... some are unconscious. Your sense of humor seems to get more "warped" each year. You know the phone numbers of every late night food delivery place in town by heart. You can only tell time with a 24 hour clock. Almost everything can seem humorous ... eventually. When asked, "What color is the patient's diarrhea?", you show them your shoes. Every time you walk, you make a rattling noise because of all the scissors and clamps in your pockets. You can tell the pharmacist more about the medicines he is dispensing than he can. You carry "spare" meds in your pocket rather than wait for pharmacy to deliver. You refuse to watch ER because it's too much like the real thing and triggers "flash backs." You check the caller ID when the phone rings on your day off to see if someone from the hospital is trying to call to ask you to work. You've been telling stories in a restaurant and had someone at another table throw up. You notice that you use more four letter words now than before you became a nurse. Every time someone asks you for a pen, you can find at least three of them on you. You can intubate your friends at parties. You don't get excited about blood loss ... unless it's your own. You live by the motto, "To be right is only half the battle, to convince the physician is more difficult." You've basted your Thanksgiving turkey with a Toomey syringe. You've told a confused patient your name was that of your coworker and to HOLLER if they need help. Eating microwave popcorn out a clean bedpan is perfectly natural. Your bladder can expand to the same size as a Winnebago's water tank. When checking the level of orientation of a patient, you aren't sure of the answer. You find yourself checking out other customer's arm veins in grocery waiting lines. You can sleep soundly at the hospital cafeteria table during dinner break, sitting up and not be embarrassed when you wake up. You avoid unhealthy looking shoppers in the mall for fear that they'll drop near you and you'll have to do CPR on your day off. You've sworn you're going to have "NO CODE" tattooed on your chest.

  • Resolved Question: I get so nervous!?
My heart beats so hard! It's embarassing...I've tried breathing techniques and stuff, I wonder if there's an actual medicine to help with anxiety that's not hard to get. I'm already on Lorazepam. My therapist suggested Ativan but then someone just said it's almost the excact same as Lorazepam! Uhg. I was hoping there was a non-perscribed solution to this. :(

  • Resolved Question: I took a LORAZEPAM last night and I feel really dizzy today!!!?
I got prescribed Lorazepam for my anxiety from my DR and I took 1 .5mg pill last night, I felt fine, got a little drowsy, but today I got up at 6 am and worked out, then went back to seep, but when I woke up around 11am, I felt VERY dizzy, and had a severe headache.. Its 2pm now and I am still a little out of it, sorta dizzy.. Is this normal? Is it cause I worked out this morning or what? Should I try the medicine again, and if it happens again, then call my doctor or what?
  • Resolved Question: Lexapro/ Ativan (Lorazepam)?
My doctor has just put me on two new medications, Lexapro and Ativan. I am not someone who likes to take any kind of medicine, even things like tylenol, so my body is not real accoustomed to medication. This being said, I've had a few side effects that I was wondering about. With the Ativan, which I was perscribed to help me sleep, relax my muscles, and deal with anxiety, I'm not having any issues. I take it right before bed. When I wake up, I take the Lexapro. This morning, I woke up at six a.m., took my dose, and fell back asleep until 10! I am not a late sleeper by habit. When I did get up, my arms and back felt lame, which I assumed was from the muscle relaxant in the ativan. But the worst of all was that I was shaking. My gross motor skills seemed fine, but my fine motor skills were shaky and unsteady. I was wondering if these are normal symptoms, or if I should call my doctor. The shaking subsided within a few hours. Thanks!
  • Resolved Question: Can you help me figure out how much of this medicine to take?

  • Resolved Question: How to get a natural sleep? My doctor prescribed Lorazepam Tab 2 Mg.How will it work ?
My doctor says that this drug will give almost natural sleep but I will become an addict and may require higher dosage in the long run. Can I have a different solution? I may not be able to do a lot of physical exercises, I have no other health problem except hypertension(blood pressure) which is under control by a different medicine . My stress level is just normal.

  • Resolved Question: Ativan(lorazepam) Do people get immune to the effects of ativan?
Sometimes I feel like I need a larger dose of ativan because I'm no longer feeling anything with the 1mg, 2-3x a day that I'm currently on. I also feel depressed a lot and I still experience insomnia. I've read about xanax XR. Since the medicine is released in the body all day long, would this be a better choice for me?
