I know tramadol shouldn't show postive for morphine but I beleave it has been doing so to me, three times now I'm aware of all the other things like poppy seeds and other perscriptions that would show up as morphine. Tramadol is a opiate so in some way this is possible right? The tramadol really helps with my forearms and palm museles without all the bad side effects and addiction that comes with other pain killers. Looking for a educated answer, I'm almost postive that I'm right but can't find no information anywere to support this nor that completly rules my theory out.
Resolved Question: Coming off 8 weeks of tramadol and hydrocodone?
I have been taking tramadol (Ultram ER) and hydrocodone for pain for the last 8 weeks due to some poorly placed cysts. I have stop taking these medications as the problem was corrected this past week. However, I am now having problems sleeping and I feel jittery. I know that both drugs are opiates and can lead to dependency. How do I minimize these withdrawl symptoms? (I feel like I did when I quit smoking.,)

Resolved Question: has anyone ever been addicted to tramadol?
i was prescribed tramadol and after 4 years i was taking 30-35 a day, its been a month since i have had any and i still have chills, coldsweats, and i can't sleep but my deal is how much longer can withdrawals last. opiates like oxycodone and hydrocodone don't last but a few days and the joke is doctors, pharmacist are still saying its not physicaly addictive!!! what a joke. the fda won't make it a controlled substance cause too many doctors are writing large amounts of ultram/ tramadol. i was getting 900 pills every 25 days for 4 years. will the fda ever do anything??? no cause its about money!!
Resolved Question: Can Tramadol be potentiated by using the certain substances such as Diphenhydramine or Promethazine?
I understand that opiates such as Hydrocodone, Morphine, and Oxycodone can have their effects increased by using certain chemicals such as the ones I named in my question. Would this method still apply to Tramadol, it being a synthetic analouge of codeine? This isn't for abuse purposes, but for the desire to take less medication on a daily basis, due to the overall effects being increased. Thank you very much my friends.
Resolved Question: Hydrocodone Withdrawal...???
I have been taking hydrocodone on and off for almost a year (because of a surgery which I had done for the 2nd time in February). I have stopped taking them before and had the withdrawals but this time I tried to 'taper' but only for 2-3 days since I was running out of pills and didn't get more. I have two left. It has been three days since I stopped. I was wondering if I take like half a pill before I go to bed to help me sleep, will it make the withdrawals worse the next day? I was taking about 3 10/500 mg/day before but my withdrawals aren't that bad. Just the hot/cold sweats, and the not sleeping is what is killing me! I'm just not sure if I take a little bit now, will it set me back as far as my 'getting over' the withdrawal part. Also I have Tramadol and Flexeril, I know Flexeril will help me sleep, it's a muscle relaxer...I think...but I don't want to take anything else that is addictive or opiate. Thanks! =]
Resolved Question: Will TRAMADOL show up as an opiate in a urine or blood test?
I think I am scheduled for a drug test - urine and possibly blood at my pain clinic on Apr. 11. Due to severe pain (included an ER visit b/c I couldn't move for days), I have ran out of my Oxycodone. I do not want them to test me and not find it in my system and think I am selling it nor do I want to tell them I had to take several more pills per day just to get out of the bed and function. I like my doctors at the pain clinic but I just could not help having to take a few extra pills. My husband has Tramadol for his shoulder injury and I am taking that. Will it show up as an opiate? Or will it simply show up as TRAMADOL? Please don't be disrespectful, I am respect all of you, please respect me and answer with TACT.
Thank you!

Resolved Question: Help in an Emergency Room for Opiate withdrawal?
I have been on opiates for pain, prescribed by my doctor, for two years. He is moving offices and will not be open in his new office for at least a month.
I ran out of my pain medication a week early (percocet) and the withdrawal is awful. I have been taking my spare Tramadol in hopes to aid the symptoms but it isn't helping much. I have another script already at the pharmacy but it isn't valid until April 1st.
Is there ANYTHING the people at an ER would do for someone that is drug-dependent that is going through this? I'm not a street-addict or drug-seeker as I get them legally but I have NEVER been without them for 2 years and the withdrawal is getting really bad!
Resolved Question: What will Ultram/Tramadol show up as on a drug test?
I was given a drug test, and failed it. I had snorted 25mg of tramadol the day before. When it came back that i failed it, my parents questioned me on it, and i said i was around people smoking weed, they didn't buy it, so they plan on doing further testing on the previous test to find out what it was. What will it show up as, and what other kind of pill/drug/thing could i say it was? I know it is an opiate, and i have been doing alot of research to help me answer my problem, but i have been geting alot of diffrernet answers. I had wanted to say it was naproxem, would that work? Or Tylenol 3?
I failed a drug test and the previous day I had snorted 25mg of tramadol. A few weeks before I smoked pot. But I had not done anything for quite some time before that. My parents plan to look further into my failed test though. I had told them it was just weed, hoping the tramadol would not show up. And also. It was a urine test.
Resolved Question: Am I an ex addict?
About a year ago I began taking Tramadol (Ultram, a mild opiate painkiller) regularly for back pain. It was 'self prescribed' and I bought it over the internet. I started with 50 mg a day, and gradually increased the dosage over the months until I was taking 150 or 200. I never considered myself to be a recreational user because I was doing it for a legitimate medical reason, but I can't deny that I really liked the way it made me feel. In November I had to quit taking tramadol very suddenly because it would prevent another unrelated medication I needed from working. I didn't notice any real withdrawal symptoms so I once again assumed it was never an addiction. The back pain in the week after was unbearable as I was going through hyperalgesia but I found a chiropractor who was able to help me.
Now I have been tramadol free for 4 months but I keep having recurring thoughts of dosing and i keep remembering how wonderful it made me feel. Does this mean that I really was an addict?
I am 19, male, and in good health and I do not do any recreational drugs.
If any of you are real former drug addicts, did you still feel cravings after you got clean and for how long?
Resolved Question: Herbal remedy for withdrawal symptoms? I'm specifically referring to an intense tramadol addiction (opiate).
Some of the symptoms I've experienced are a "creepy-crawly" sensation mostly in my legs, inability to sit still yet EXTREMELY lethargic, sweating, depression/anxiety, feeling of desperation, etc.... basically the worst feeling ever!
Is there any sort of (cheap!) non-prescription remedy for these sorts of symptoms?
Resolved Question: Does anyone know with absolute certainy wheather ultram/tramadol will show up in a hair sample drug test?
Please:
1) please only answer if you know for sure
2) dont guess
3) tramadol is not an opiate and does not contain codine. I am 100% sure it does not show up in drug rehab urine testing but I am unsure if given the differences between a urine and hair testing and court and drug rehab it could show up in hair testing in court.
thany u
Resolved Question: I just tested positive for opiates, and all I take is tramadol, why is this?
Resolved Question: tramadol is this in the major opiates ???????
Resolved Question: Difference between these pain prescriptions?
both of these are opiods i am sure and are used for treating different levels of pain. i took vicodin before when I had surgery for 3 months straight, and now my friend is using Ultram recreationally in very small amounts, was doing vicodin prior to this.
*what is stronger, vicodin or tramadol(ultram)?
*are they different types of opiates? i thought that one of them has aspirin in them, which could afftect its overall strength.
*also what is the difference between oxycotin, lortab, darvocet, percocet, oxy codone, and hydrocodone? are some just generic names? someone told me oxycotin and percocet are the same except oxycotin is time release. how is that so if percocet is MUCH weaker, even in high doses?
thank you
my friend is complaining about severe withdrawal symptoms, shaking, sweating, chills, lack of motivation, depression. i know if the body gets use to having something like a syntheitc opiate it will freak out when stopped, but in her case, i dont get it. shes only been on them for a week (with VERY LOW DOSES) and ive heard ultram is MUCH weaker than vicodin, morphine , percocet etc. when i stopped vicodin it didnt sound as bad as what shes going through.
Resolved Question: Tramadol/Ultram??
Mt Dr gave me a prescription for a bruised rib. But I was wondering if it had the same effects as narcotics. I know its not a narcotic or opiate. But I was prescribed ultracet before because thats no a narcotic either, and it was $hitty, didn't take pain away. I just know narcotics take pain away. Does Tramadol have the same euphoric effects as narcotics? cause it says it's similir to the opiates.
Resolved Question: Plava 616/Tramadol/Ultram?
I recently found 2 pills on my carpet labled "Plava 616" and of course was curious and looked them up online only to discover they are pain killers by the name of tramadol or ultram. 4 weeks later (tonight) I found 2 more pills on top of my fridge. I really need to know if this is a pain killer that is typically used by heroine addicts who are on methodone treatment. I have not been involved at all but my g/f is on methodone but denies any reference to these pills. The internet is a wonderful thing and I don't want to blame her but there is a tie between these pain killers and other opiates. Thank you to anyone that can help.

Resolved Question: How do recovering heroin addicts manage pain?
In a chronic pain situation how can an addict be expected to cope without opiates? Is there any medication with the strength of an opiate that is non narcotic or addictive?(Tramadol is an opiate, just synthetic) I think it is inhumane to force a recovering addict to live with pain (parole officers). But taking these meds seriously compromises recovery!
The person of whom I am speaking has been in recovery (sober) for over 5 years. The pain I am refering to is accute pain due to a severe injury, that will eventually heal, not a chronic pain.
This is not a methadone situation. This is a recovered addict!!!
Resolved Question: Pain killers without opiates?
I have been going to an orthopedic surgeon who has been give me tramadol and cortisone shots for tendonitis. I was told tramadol is non addictive. I am sick and tired of this approach since its not working anymore, its been 3 years. I told him i didn't think it was tendonitis, turns out its not. I had carpel tunnel in this arm 7 years ago and turns out this is what it is. I am going to a nerosurgeon now and am afraid of being put back on something with opiates in it since i became addicted to them and going through heavy withdrawl and start rehab tomorrow. but i am in terrible pain and am tring nsaids and advill. not working!! and advice?
TRIED ANAPROX AND ASKED DR FOR STRONGER ML. SAID NO.
NO I NEVER HEARD OF THAT WHAT I AM READING SAYS YOU CAN ONLY TAKE FOR 5 DAYS , HAVE YOU BEEN ON IT LONGER?

Resolved Question: Would you be able to tell if your bladder was getting close to busting?
Would you feel any pain like an hour before it was about to burst or an urge to pee? I have urinary retention i was wondering pls help i feel like i have to pee a lil but its not a strong urge just a light little sprinkle piss but it wont come out because of the retention i think its temporary because i am on TRAMADOL which is an opiate and mild SSRI please tell me if this is why this is happenin help!
Resolved Question: Urinary Retention!! How long until my bladder busts wide open? :(?
Okay so I have been taking tramadol (Ultram)for the past week or so its a mild SSRI but mostly used for pain relief (opiate).
I went to the bathroom today (this happened before but didnt last as long a few days ago) and I am unable to urinate but feel the urge to...
Okay so its urinary retention my question is will this go away because I used tramadol (even though this is not a side effect of tramadol it is a side effect of antidepressants and given tramadols SSRI properties (mild SSRI) would this make tramadol an antidepressant? )
And how long until my bladder busts? Can bladders bust? Its been about 30 mins how long can I go holding it before I have to get a catheter (I DO NOT WANT A CATHETER HOPEFULLY AS LONG AS IT TAKES).
Thanks. lol.
Resolved Question: Can the amount of opiates be detected in a urine sample?
Im currently recieveing treament for a tramadol 50mg and codeine 30mg addiction and I was recently refused an alternative prescription to either methadone or subutex because my case worker said my urine only showed up as having a "theraputic" level of tramadol in my system and a small amount of codeine. Previous to the urine test I had taken 80 of each pills in the three days leading up and I know that at that level it is neither "small" or "theraputic"!!! Another drugs worker who I speak to, although not professionally, has told me that the amount cannot be detected, only what has been taken. It isn't safe for me to be taking 25-30 pills of each a day and so a substitute would be a more sensible, controlled way to deal with coming off the addiction I have been battling for 2 years now. If anyone can help I would be most grateful!!!
Resolved Question: Will Ultram (tramadol) be effective if taking Suboxone (buprenorphine)?
Will Ultram work or will the Suboxone block the effect? Essentially, does Ultram work on the opiate receptors or could a person get pain relief from Ultram while on Suboxone? If not, any suggestions for alternative meds for significant back pain?
Resolved Question: .Tramadol?
I've had this terrible back-pain for the past year...but being 19yrs old at the moment, my mother doesn't believe i should talk to a doctor, and that i just need to start working out again. i can see her point, however, the pain, at its worst, will inhibit me from doing everyday-things like walking around or even sitting up comfortably in a chair. it comes and goes, and is mostly obvious when i do alot of physical activity (this case causes the pain for the next few days) or even when i'm sitting in my desk in one of my classes for over twenty minutes... is there a way i can get a doctor to prescribe me tramadol? i say tramadol because it's a non-narcotic/non-opiate but i hear it works better than aspirin and ibuprofen...which isn't cutting it for me right now. AND, if yes, is there a way to get it prescribed without my mom or our insurance know? (Mother's income has nearly ceased, i don't want any monetary stress on her right now...) please help out....it hurts... =-/
its weird....at times it doesn't even hurt at all. and i can walk and stand up quickly just like normal. but after moving around for awhile or sitting in a desk or something for more then fifteen---twenty minutes is when the pain hits....and its definately in the lower back region...my girlfriend tried giving me a massage to see how that works and it was a tad bit tender to the touch...but not at all unbearable. and it was the bottom part of the approximately third vertabrae from the tail bone, or close to that one. it feels as if it's a little raised up, like almost as if its out of place from the other ones...... =-/ dunno if this helps...
the best way i can explain where the pain is.....is saying its a vertabrae where a "tramp-stamp" tattoo would be placed......
Resolved Question: darvocet and tramadol?
my brother has an rx for tramadol for chronic back pain, that wasn't working. His girlfriend gave him a darvocet on Sunday and he took a pre employment drug screen on Monday and it showed positive. My question is, are they both opiates and if he shows them the RX for tramadol, will all end well?
Resolved Question: Ultram/other opiates cause agitation instead of lethargy?
I'm allergic to aspirin and ibuprofen, and Tylenol hardly does anything for me, so my dr has recently prescribed Ultram (tramadol) for bad headaches, back pain, etc. Last year I had foot surgery and was prescribed Vicodin during recovery.
I've noticed that both Ultram and Vicodin seem to have an opposite effect on me than they have on other people. Whereas other people get kind of lethargic, drowsy, spaced-out, I've found that these medications make me restless with lots of energy, even agitated, seem to cause muscle twitches, and keep me awake or else I find myself waking frequently during the night, like a stimulant. I'm not overdosing or combining with other meds.
Is there some weird metabolic or genetic variant that could cause this reaction? I don't take the Ultram very often, but I'd like to know that I'm not doing something harmful. I'm at a loss about what other non-opiate, non-NSAID painkillers I can try...but if anyone has a suggestion, Id be glad to hear it

Resolved Question: Help with finding new pain meds?
I am currently on Flexeril (muscle relaxer) and Tramadol (mild opiate pain reliever) for chronic pain associated with Osteoporosis and Chrono Malacia in my knees. I am only 30 years old. I don't have alot of experience with drugs, but I know that these aren't working. What can I ask my doctor about that he may give me that would be stronger than the above mentioned ones?
Because of the long term use, I have built up quite a tolerance, but, I don't want something as strong as morphine.
Thanks Pangolin, Yes, I am on acetonel as well I scored -3's on my Dexa scan, the pain meds are for vertebrae fractures.
Resolved Question: Why isn't Tramadol considered a narcotic?
About 5 months ago, my mother's doctor prescribed her Tramadol (otherwise known as Ultram) for her severe back pain, telling her that it was non-narcotic and non-addictive so she could take as much as she wanted. She'd been on Tramadol since then, and slowly, her dosages increased. One week ago, she had a seizure, and the doctors at the ER said that Tramadol was what caused it. I looked it up on the Internet, and was shocked to find that apparently, Tramadol is VERY addictive and is known to cause seizures if taken at high dosages. Since Tramadol is an opiate and an addictive drug, why isn't it considered a narcotic and why are people told that it's not addictive and is pretty much harmless when it's prescribed to them??
Resolved Question: Can you get an Opiate high off of Darvocet - similiar to a Vicodin high?
I have been prescribed Darvocet and Tramadol. Neither are REAL opiates, but I will tell all of you that Tramadol, on an empty stomach, DOES give you an opiate high. I am not sure if Darvocet is used recreationally, though? I've heard you can get a similar feeling to Vicodin, is this true?
Resolved Question: Will Ultram (Tramadol) show up in a urine screen and if so...as what?
Both my doctor and pharmacist have told me it is NOT a narcotic, but someone told me that it will show up as an opiate on a drug screen? Anyone with first hand knowledge of this--PLEASE respond! Thanks.
Resolved Question: how can i find out if tramadol is suitable for vicodin withdrawal?
currently dependent on vicodin. is tramadol an opiate also? i am trying to decrease.
