  • Open Question: How long after taking tramadol can you drink?
I was on tramadol after UCL surgery on my thumb/hand (vicodin gave me bad side effects). I took 1 50mg pill this morning around 7amish and its now past 12am at night so a full day. I'm looking to have a few beers with my friends but have heard of serious side effects of drinking while on the pill. How long before it exits my body and I'm safe to drink? I don't plan on taking anymore medicine anytime soon. THANKS!
  • Resolved Question: Question to Tramadol users?
In the last two months I have been on a medication called Tramadol. I am also on several other medicines (Lyrica, Synthroid, Cytomel, Maxzide, etc.). Within the last month and a half-I'm assuming within the time-frame of my body getting used to the medicine-I have been getting these really horrible feelings of dread and terror. Is this a normal side-effect or could it be a conflict of some kind with one of my other medicines?
  • Resolved Question: Sharpish pain in my chest/back? worried?

  • Voting Question: Getting worried about neutering side-effects?
I posted last Thursday about issues with my 11 month old golden.... Well, he is still concerning me a little bit. Turns out the reason that he wasn't walking was due to some type of burn between both hips from his ribcage to his tail. He has been treated with pills, creams, and ointments, and I've been to two different vets. His skin is looking much better - I just can't seem to fathom how it could've possibly happened?!?! What we originally thought was urine soaked hair was actually puss that had leaked from the skin's surface due to this "burn". He is now on Acepromazine, Keflex, Tramadol, and Previcox, plus he gets "Dermalone" ointment twice a day and will barely let us apply it. He needs a muzzle and at least two grown men holding him down. I just want the poor guy to feel better, he seems so sad and depressed. (Although, knock on wood, he is eating, drinking, urinating, etc.) Any ideas?
  • Resolved Question: Lots of pain all the time?
I have been seeing a doctor for severe pain for a few years. I know that I have full body painful restless leg syndrome along with some other nerve disorders. My question is does anyone know if there are any negative effects from taking Ultram (tramadol) for long periods of time? I take between 300 and 400 mg daily and have been for over a year now. The doctor has tried me on many different medications including Cymbalta, Lyrica, Neurontin in addition to others and I have had severe side effects of all of them except the Ultram. Just curious about taking it for such a long amount of time and wondering if anyone is going through the same thing? Thanks for your time.......:)
  • Voting Question: Help hydromorphone/opana/fentanal makes me sick vicoden quit working?
I have been suffering from sevre lower back pain for about about 2 years.I have seen many doctors pain specialists ect.I have had ct scans mris nerve tests you name it.I have 3 herniated discs in my lower back + spinal stenosis. not due to any injury so its not comp.I have been taking 6 -5 mg vicoden per day for about a year and half , have tried anti inflamitories, lidoderm patches, advil, celebrex tramadol you name it. my current doctor just put me on hyrdomorphone 4 mg 6 x daily. • Resolved Question: OK, sorry this is gross, but I really do need some advice please?
Right, they think I've possibly got a slipped disc in my back, so I've been on a lot of codeine and tramadol for the last couple of weeks which makes me REALLY badly constipated. I have a naturally high fibre diet anyway because I'm on a regular medication for a totally unrelated problem which causes constipation as a side effect. Anyway, I've been getting really constipated from the painkillers, so have been taking laxatives, but it seems like I can't get the right balance at all. If I take a stimulant laxative like senna, I get really bad stomach cramps but when I try to pass the stool it's really hard and painful, so at times I've had to use glycerin suppositories. So I thought I'd try a stool softener (Dulcoease) and within a few hours I've got really bad stomach cramps and diarrhoea!! So what's best to take, when should I take it, and how much of it should I take???? I'm on diclofenac as well, and if I reduced to only that I would be in too much pain. At the minute I still need the stronger narcotic style drugs, just need some way to deal with the side effects. Thanks for the suggestions so far.
  • Resolved Question: Neurontin, Tramadol...any CAUSE headaches, migraines as side effect?
I started taking both of these meds June 25th. No problems, no side effects. For 1-1/2 weeks now, I'm getting terrible, terrible headaches (almost like migraines). If I were taking one or the other, I'd know which is causing these headaches. But, since they were giving me no side effects, I continued taking both as prescribed: Tramadol: 50mg (1-2 tablets every 6 hours). Neurontin: 300mg (1 tablet every 6-8 hours, and 2 @ bedtime). OR could it be my cervical problems all of the sudden giving me headaches?? The reasons I'm taking these is: (left side/CERVICAL) 2 herniated discs, Degenerative disc disease, Degeneratative joint disease, and nerve root damage. I'm getting my first ever epidural injection on C6-7 on Tuesday. But I CANNOT seem to get rid of this headache (mostly on left side). It's constant throbbing, around my eyes hurt. Feels like I'm hungover 24/7. Tylenol & Excedrin doesn't help either. Any opinions? Thanks so much for any help you can give!
  • Resolved Question: Possible at all tramadol can show as morphine in unrine test.Morphine never tramadol daily.Me dirty 4 morphine
I know tramadol shouldn't show postive for morphine but I beleave it has been doing so to me, three times now I'm aware of all the other things like poppy seeds and other perscriptions that would show up as morphine. Tramadol is a opiate so in some way this is possible right? The tramadol really helps with my forearms and palm museles without all the bad side effects and addiction that comes with other pain killers. Looking for a educated answer, I'm almost postive that I'm right but can't find no information anywere to support this nor that completly rules my theory out.
  • Resolved Question: tramadol side effects?
i have bad pain.. and when i take tramadol i get terrible urinary retention, and abdominal distention, i get gas but i can hardly pass it, feels like my rectom is swelling inside, i get ichy, and i absolutly can not sleep, very tough to sleep even days after i stoped the med, and the other side effects too a while to calm down. i guess my questions are if i take the med for more then the 2 days i tryed it.. will these side effects continue? and also if i get percocet will i get the same side effects.. with the abdominal distention / urinary retention / insomnia ?

  • Resolved Question: Best Alternative Relief for Migraines?
I suffer from basilar migraines and I get attacks 4-7 times a week. I take Topamax, Pamlor, Calan, and Tramadol daily and stadol when i get attacks. Although these meds do help some with my migraines, they do not help enough. I'm looking for herbal relief for migraines. I'm tired of going to the doctor and just getting another medicine with horrible side effects. Any help would be appreciated. I also take prednizone bursts when the migraines last for long periods of time. Usually 50-60mg for 5 days. I can't take cortizone b/c i'm allergic. My migraines are not trigger migraines. They are caused from a growth on my pituitary gland that produces too much fluid inside my skull causing pressure on the blasliar artery causing pain. Well, that's Lehman's summary of the cause of my migraines. Yes, I the side effects of the meds that i take are terrible. I know that the pain relievers can cause rebound headaches, that's why i don't use them all the time and i am searching for an alternative. the side effects of my other meds are everything from tingling, sleep walking, making your food taste bad, weight loss, weight gain, memory loss, loss of coordination, kidney stones etc. but without the meds i literally cannot move or get out of bed. so i guess it's the lesser of the two evils for the time being.
  • Resolved Question: Tramadol question?
I was on hydrocodone for about a month and after on tramadol 2 1/2 weeks and since I got off Tramadol I haven't gotten my period, so far its 2 weeks late. Tramadol is evil it messed me up pretty bad I was paranoid, anxious, i lost my appetite and restless for like 10 days and I couldn't sleep for like 5 days, I felt like my body was on overdrive.

  • Resolved Question: Are RLS's effects shown at night only? Can you experienced them all day long?
I feel like I have chills on my legs all the time. They don't feel restless, but just achy and cold. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia last year. I've been taking one 50g. tramadol pill daily, but yesterday after I took my pill, I finally started to associate the chills in my legs with the tramadol. Could this be a side effect of it? My doctor told me that I need to take more tramadol ( up to 8 pills a day). Since I have a life, I found his recommendation so outrageous. The problem is that I cannot walk without feeling the chills in my legs. I have two bulging discs in my lower back, but the doctor says that I don't need a surgery because they're not a big deal (3mm and 1.5 mm) and the pain I feel is just being amplifiedby the fibromyalgia. I'm wondering if the chills in my legs are RLS or just another fibro symptom. Thanks. Hopeless Fibromyalgic.
  • Resolved Question: Trazadone and Celexa? Sexual/Erectile Side Effects?
(Edit: i made a mistake on my original question. i ask about Tramadol side effects when i really meant to say Trazodone Side Effects.. And for those who Answered my last incorrect question - Sorry about that... So heres the real question) Im prescribed both meds,Trazodone HCL for sleep,Celexa for Depression, and just started taking them today. I heard that Trazadone has a side effect of increased sexual function (pro-longed painful erections) and Celexa has a side effect of decreased sexual function, or worse impotence. 1) Does anyone take these two meds together like i do? and if so, how does this combination affect you? 2) Does Anyone know if taking these two medications will cancel out the Erectile side effects? I do not want to have erectile dysfunctions Thanks In Advance

  • Resolved Question: what are the side effects of the drug tramadol?
  • Resolved Question: Tramadol / Ultram - opinions?
I've recently been prescribed Ultram 50 mg. every 4 hours for breakthrough pain relief for chronic pain in my back. It worked great at first, when combined with an ESI, but now it seems more comparable to taking a couple of Tylenols for the amount of time that it provides good pain relief. I'd like to get some other opinions from those of you who have tried this medication before - and whether you found it worked good, bad, or if you had any strange side effects from it. I'm also on 40 mg. of Prozac a day, and thought that maybe the combination of these two meds could be causing some of the side effects I've started experiencing since starting the Ultram treatment (headaches, increased anxiety attacks...) TIA for your input.
  • Resolved Question: Ultram Oral aka Tramadol side effects...itching?
I was diagnosed with Bursitis yesterday and my doctor prescribed prednisone (oral) and Tramadol. I havn't started the prednisone yet (I will start it in the morning as the directions say), but I took one Tramadol at about 4pm with a meal. It was prescribed for the pain in my hip from the bursitis. The directions say to take 1-2 every 8 hours as needed, but as I've never tried this medication I just had one at 4pm and havn't had one since (its almost 2am now). A few hours ago though I started having some itching in my hip area and now it seems to be all over my body. Its not severe, and as far as I can tell I'm not having any other side-effect type symptoms. But I read up on WebMD and it says to get medical attention if you have itching as it would be a sign of a severe allergic reaction. But I don't have the other severe symptoms like shallow breathing or swollen lips, tounge. Should I just go to sleep and see how I am in the morning or should I possibly go get checked out at the ER?
  • Resolved Question: side effects of tramadol?
  • Resolved Question: Safe to stop taking tramadol cold turkey?
I have been taking Tramadol pills(50 mg) twice a day two times a day (on a normal day). I get mild to moderate pain from having chronic pancreatitis. I stopped taking it over 12 hours ago and I feel like CRAP! I am having anxiety and can't sleepy and all kids of nasty side effects. I don't want to be on this stuff anymore because it is VERY ADDICTIVE!!! My doctor acted like it wasn't. I don't want it anymore. Is there anything out there that is better than just taking tylenol, but isn't so much addictive?? How long will I feel like garbage and what can i do to make it bearable?? I appreciate all the help I can get.

  • Resolved Question: I sprained my ankle on Saturday, now I'm exhausted?
I sprained my ankle on Saturday. Went into Urgent Care Sunday and got x-rays and medicine...Ibuprofen 800mg and Tramadol 50mg. Took both pills on a full stomach at 2pm and had a SEVERE reaction to the tramadol. Medics came and everything. They didn't take me in as they said it was a "common" side effect, but it sure didn't feel right. Anyway, got to bed around 8pm, woke up at 6am. Rested most of day. My question is...why am I so tired? I took a 2 hour nap today and I still feel like doing nothing but sleeping? Could the Tramadol still be in my system? Or is it just the healing process? It's a grade 3 sprain and I have a brace for 2 weeks. Can't walk on it yet. Thanks.
  • Resolved Question: I have just had surgery on my leg and since then, i haven't to masterbate. Is it because of the op or the meds
I had surgery on my left leg on sunday, and since then i haven't been able to get either a full erection or masterbate. I was wondering if this is because of the medication or because of the operation. The medication I'm on is Paracetamol and Tramadol which to my knowledge are both just pain killers. I've researched side effects of tramadol and all i could find was feeling drowsy, which I'm also feeling. I would go to the doctors but I'm embarrased.

  • Resolved Question: Can Tramadol cause a cough?
I began taking tramadol about 2 weeks ago, 50-150 mg a day due to pain from a old injury. I requested something less addictive than Oxycontin which gave me horrible withdrawls in the past. Within a week I had a cough, which has turned into a cough/flu like symptoms. I have searched on Web MD and it seems tramadol is perscribed to stop coughing, but also list flu symptoms as a side effect that is really dangerous. Is the flu and now severe cough possible caused by the drug? Or am I just sick? My coughing does subside when I take the drug... just want to make sure I am not hurting myself, and rather than pay weekend emergency room rates I thought I would ask you lovely people. Doctors advice wanted, but any knowledgeable advice appreciated.
  • Resolved Question: Arthritis and pain meds?
(I'm trying this catagory for more responses) I've been dealing with Arthritis pain ever since I was a child. This winter has been really getting to me. Advil doesn't help anymore and I'm in constant pain in my back, hips and hands. I have tried everything over the counter and many tips on coping with arthritis pain. But nothing is relieving the pain this winter. Tomorrow I am going to the doctors. I want to see if there is medication for my condition that is affective and a non-narcotic. Also I want to try something that doesn’t take WEEKS to start taking effect. I've been doing research and the medication I came across is called Tramadol. Does this work for people with moderate to severe arthritis? Have you ever taken this medication? I hate taking medications and I'm concerned about side affects and allergic reactions. I DO NOT want to take narcotics! Is it okay to tell the doctor about researching different medications and asking to try Tramadol? Beer does sound good right about now! These are all great suggestions. I feel more confident in talking to my doctor about different things I've researched and other people have suggested (not just online...people I actually know in real time) I've tried everything...after 20 years of having arthritis...enough is enough!
  • Voting Question: Is it ok to use Utram (Tramadol) for ADD / ADHD?......I need some help!?
I use to take Adderrall I took it for several years but it made me to stressed out. I found that Ultram really helps me focus and gives me that extra boost of energy. I found out that Ultam also blocks the reuptake of serotonin & norepinephrine kind of like an antidepressant but the side effects of all the antidepressants I'v read about have worse side effects than I have read about Ultram. The stimulants worked great but had worse side effects. I do need something because when I dont take something I get depressed and cant focus at all and thats really bad cause I have a very technical desk job. I need some advise so good info.

  • Resolved Question: Can anxiety and mood swings be a side effect of tramadol?
My wife has been taking Tramadol for nearly a year now to manage chronic pain brought about by fibromyalgia. Since she has been taking it I have noticed mood swings related to her taking the medicine. I noticed that after she started taking it she became very irratible. When she runs out, she becomes more pleasant, and then she fills the perscription and the irratibility comes back. She won't even discuss my concerns (and becomes very aggitated and defensive when I bring it up). For example, last week she was very pleasant. Over the weekend her mood changed and I was wondering what was up with that and noticed today that she refilled her perscription last Friday. Has anyone else experienced these kinds of side effects and any advice on dealing with this?
  • Resolved Question: Tramadol and withdrawals?
Sorry to those of you who read this already but I had to give some more details so here is the question again. I was in a car accident 3 weeks ago. I have been taking the pain killer Tramadol regularly (about 2-3 times daily) since then. I have never gone above the recommend dosage or anything. So I stopped taking it all together about 5 or 6 days ago. Since then I have had some weird side effects or something. Nausea, restlessness, shakes, and dizziness. Could it take this long for my body to stop craving it? Also, every once in awhile my pain gets really bad, is it ok for me to take the drug like every once in awhile? Such as every other day? And if I do, will I instantly become addicted again? Any advice helps. Or tips on how not to have withdrawals if that's what these are. I only take 50mg each time. I am also highly sensitive to any drugs and am a very tiny person, so I don't know, maybe that makes a difference in how it effects me???

  • Resolved Question: Every morning when I get up I feel like a huge brick in my forehead, with a sensation of amts gnawing at me?
There's a facial heat flush as well. This has been going on since a couple of weeks, and it takes almost two hours to disappear. I suspected side effects of one of the many meds I'm taking, including ARVs for AIDS, but I've been on these meds for a year and a half now, and it didn't happen then. OK, since the start of ARV in June 06. These ARV have the particularity of crossing the brain-blood barrier. Since then I have inluded new meds. Here they are: Mirtazapine (antidepressant) Tramadol (pain killer) Tranxene (tranquillizer) Calcium citrate for osteoporosis Fosamax to fix the calcium Every morning is like waking up in hell. Help!!! Could it simply be stress-related? Sometimes this symptom recurs in the evening
  • Resolved Question: Vet gave my dog Tramadol?
She has been pacing and very agitated for two days. We took her to the vet, thinking she has a bladder infection. (this is the only other time she has behaved like this.) He gave her 50mg Tramadol. Is it safe? I did some research online and for humans, it sounds like a good pain reliever with some serious side effects. Any help would be appreciated. I love my dog and don't want her to be in pain, but also do not want to give her anything that could make her sick.
  • Resolved Question: Combined meds Tramal and Prothiaden?
Hello, first timer. My wife has been put onto various meds before, 4 level fusion (lumbar) which has not been successful, constant pain 24/7, crushed sciatic nerve, bi-lateral pain, scar tissue on nerve. Was on Tramal and Effexor with some terrible side effects, wondering if anyone has or is taking Tramadol with Prothiaden? the anti-depressants work as a pain blocker as well. Sciatic pain bi-laterally, knees are suffering (only 54). If anyone else has similar problems, and has found a working combination without adverse side effects, we would like to hear from you. Can't exercise, tried riding an exercise bike, walking, all to no avail, ends up being bed ridden for days. Meds she is on Xanax, Tramal, Inderal (heart), anti-inflammatories, and finally a thyroid tablet. Hoping someone can help God bless Warren

  • Resolved Question: Tramadol Sideffects?
I have been taking Tramadol for 2 months now and ever since I have noticed a sour taste in my mouth off and on along with bad breath. Is this a side effect of the medicine or could it be something else? I can't quit taking it to find out because it has to be taken regularly to kill the pain.

  • Resolved Question: Does anyone have any experience taking tramadol & hydrocodone together? I have a kidney stone and need relief.
I took the tramadol about 5 hours ago and I am still hurting. I am scared of bad side effects. I have googled and came up with conflicting answers. Does anyone have any experience with these pain relivers? Thanks so much!
  • Resolved Question: Ultram: tramadol. Has anyone taken this regularly?
I have for quite some time and I think I'm having some side effects. If you've taken it for a period of time, did you have any side effects? Thanks! :)
  • Resolved Question: Has anyone taken Tramadol for pain relief after op? Did you have any effects from them?
Following a mastectomy I was given tramadol & had the worst side effects, firstly my blood preasure went dangerously low causing a lot of concern in the hospital, but the worst was the fact that taking them awakend some pretty nasty memories from the past, I was sexually abused from age 9 to 11 / 12 (fps) & the tramadol caused me to remember things that had been long hidden away, so not only am I dealing with Cancer now I have to deal with these other nightmares again, the only difference is I understand more of what went on because I am an adult now, it dosent make it easier just clearer. Has anyone else experienced night terrors or like ? I hope I am not the only one but wouldn't wish it on anyone either ((((((HUGS))))))) Sorry 'bout this I think I might have led peops to think I was still taking the Tramadol...... No it was only very short term I was taking them for, its just the after effects I am finding hard X
  • Resolved Question: Urinary Retention!! How long until my bladder busts wide open? :(?
Okay so I have been taking tramadol (Ultram)for the past week or so its a mild SSRI but mostly used for pain relief (opiate). I went to the bathroom today (this happened before but didnt last as long a few days ago) and I am unable to urinate but feel the urge to... Okay so its urinary retention my question is will this go away because I used tramadol (even though this is not a side effect of tramadol it is a side effect of antidepressants and given tramadols SSRI properties (mild SSRI) would this make tramadol an antidepressant? ) And how long until my bladder busts? Can bladders bust? Its been about 30 mins how long can I go holding it before I have to get a catheter (I DO NOT WANT A CATHETER HOPEFULLY AS LONG AS IT TAKES). Thanks. lol.
  • Resolved Question: Tramadol and urinary retention?
I take 50 mg of tramadol daily in the morning. The positive side effects are relief of back pain and anxiety. The only negative side effect I get is that I seem to hold urine at night. I get up to pee up to 6 times a night and can only get a little out at a time. This has been going on for a while, and it's not a bladder infection or anything like that. Anyone else have this problem? Is it serious?
