Today, my muscles and joints swelled and seized up so badly that it got hard to breathe and pulled my shoulders and elbows out of joint. I went to the doctor, and they just gave me two shots of Toradol and Phenegran. This has happened only once before, but it wasn't this severe. That was when I was on Xanax XR. I never had joint pain or anything until I took that medication. It says that is one of the side effects. BUT, I've been off of it for three months. Why would my muscles and joints screw up so severely now? I never got my limberness back, and I've had more pain since that medication, but my whole body had never seized up like that before. They didn't give me enough Toradol because it didn't help much. When my other doctor gave me that shot the first time, it worked immediately. So why would a "medication" still be affecting me this badly? I am really doubting that I came down with a sudden case of arthritis at age 22 with no symptoms beforehand. How can I fix this?
Also, I've been vaccinated for Tetanus and am up to date on that shot too. And I know it wasn't an allergic reaction because I haven't eaten or been exposed to anything unusual in the last few days. How did Xanax XR damage my body that badly? I wasn't even on it very long. Could I the damage be permanent???

I've been on 1.5 mg of Xanax a day and 10 mg Lexapro for about a month and a half now.... has been working pretty well but I was wondering if anyone else that has taken either/or has experienced a strange side effect of really weird/bad/powerful dreams?
I've never had dreams like these before I started the medication. It will always be something negative, and I'll feel in my dream so slow, sluggish, almost like I'm on heroin, or took way too much medication, but I haven't, like I can't move, [in my dream], can't stand up, keep falling over, and can't wake up. I'll wake up and try to wake up, but fall back asleep only to have more nightmares.
This has only started since I started the meds. I take them as reccomended so I know it's not because I'm taking too much.
Is this a side effect, or am I just having weird dreams?
In the dreams, I'll feel high....and I don't do drugs. [smoke pot once in a while, but not lately.] I feel like REALLY high. Like I can't stand up.

I am not prescribed for xanax but took one anyone. I've taken them before, but this one is giving me incredible stomach pains. An hour after I had taken it, my stomach started to hurt really bad. I went to sleep and woke up this morning with the pain remaining. The pain however is half as bad as last night. I was having major procrastination problems due to stress and anxiety and couldnt get any course work done at all. I told my docter and he prescribed me xanex. I took one and I feel great, kinda tipsy! I can get a bit more done cause I dont panic but I feel slightly absent minded and I can feel a difference in my concentration. Ok, i've had a history of manic depression and anxiety. Sometimes early in the morning around 5-7am im the happiest even if i stay up all night. I always put myself down and say things in my head like "your an idiot." and all kinds of hurtfull things espesially when i cant do somthing right. Ive been on a lot of medications from seritonin inhibitors to tricyclics to xanax to seriquel. I hate taking medicine cause im afraid of the long term effects and the negitive side effects. ok ive been on the xanax for a short period before ...litterally 3 weeks bc i ended up getting pregnant.
but here a week or so ago my dr put me on prozac bc i can afford it and it helps with my OCD tendencies, some anxiety and also depressive tendencies. which..seems like it would be a miricle pill for me. im on the lowest dose to start out with (5mg)
but the xanax .5 (peach ones) doesnt seem to be doing well for me even though im smaller then most 20 yr olds . should i wait and see if the prozac is in full effect and helps in the combination and then go from there to see about upping the xanax or try to up the prozac to 10 mg and stay at .5 mg xanax first?

Ive read that it can take 2months-(X)amt. of year(S!) to WITHDRAW off of Alprazolam (Xanax). My question is ONLY for those who have successfully w/d from it, by using the taper method. The MENTAL side effects scare me the most. I have tried quitting and these are the most prominent symptoms:

Hello, My question is having been on toprol (generic is metoprolol) 12.5 mg for exactly a year now, I have a question lately I have felt like my heart is beating weaker or something to that degree, now as I do suffer from a very severe anxiety disorder it could simply be all misconception. But If there are any Dr's or RN's I would like to know if Beta blockers weaken the Heart muscle or its ability to pump blood.
And could it also be a side effect of my being afrad of heart problems (im on it for anxiety symptom reduction and because my heart rate was reaching 170 180 durning attacks for maybe 3 hours) And because of these fears I do not exercise at all I have not since the summer of 07 I also take xanax as needed.

I am trying to see what meds I need to take to reach the level of lessened anxiety I need in order to get some shots and needle work done. I have tried 2.5 mg of xanax and it has no effect on me. I was wondering if Oxycontin would work. It would only be a one time thing. I am not a recreational drug user. What does an oxycontin high feel like, and should I crush it to I can get the initial rush and then get my bloodwork?

The very first time I tried to get my bloodwork done was about two weeks ago, and the Dr. prescribed me one .25 mg of xanax. It did absolutely nothing, and the Dr. is unwilling to prescribe more that is why I have to find my own way. I am not a recreational drug user. I really wouldn't be afraid to admit it if I was.

I have a really big test coming up.. not just a normal exam, so my anxiety level is raising each day that it comes closer. Anyways, people keep recommending that I call my general physician and ask for something to take for a few days (including the day-of the exam). I assume I'd be prescribed a benzo, like Xanax or something.
Obviously I'd take one prior to the test day to make sure I don't have any serious side effects. However, I read one of main side effects of benzos is mental dullness, like concentration and memory problems. Anyone have any experience with this kind of thing and think that it would do me more harm than good during the test?
I should clarify. This isn't normal test anxiety.. this is six years of graduate school culminating into a 3 hour oral examination. So that's why I'm considering resorting to medication rather than just normal calming strategies :)

My wife has been prescribed Xanax for 12 years to alleviate the symptoms for panic/anxiety disorder. She has been admitted to the hospital in the past as dosages were increased to the point of lethargy, confusion, coordination difficulties and other injurious side effects. At the hospital she suffered a terrifying crash that ultimately resulted with medical advice to continue the drugs.
The use of the herb St. Johns’s Wort, Sam-e, vitamin C, B-complex, Omega3, Gingko, CoQ10 and other supplements have helped with her efforts to get off Paxil and cut her dose of Xanax to a minimum over time.
She has improved her health and is determined to cope with life without the drug that has caused more harm than good. There are clinics for drug abuse but they are not geared for a true unwanted medical dependency.
If anyone reading this has a good resource online or in the Lakeland/Tampa Bay area please post it.

I went to see my doctor about why I was feeling so sick. He thought it was panic disorder (since my mom has it as well), and prescribed me Prozac and Xanax. I'm 17 - this was done the day before yesterday (March 28).

needless to say i am dependant on it. i have to take the vicotin in the morning in order for me to wake up and function at work. i also take the xanax at night to go to sleep or when i have panic attacks at work (its very stressful) I don't take too much, only 1500-2000mg (4 500mg pills a day) and 2 or 3 xanax (.5mg) at night. I don't think i will ever be able to get off of it but are there any long term effects that will mess up my body if i continue to take it, and if i do stop, how am i going to function at work or wake up in the morning?

I am actually prescribed to norco 500's, not vicodin, i guess there is a difference. i have back pain from being rear ended in a car accident back in june last year and at work i am always sitting and thats when it starts to hurt and thats why i'm still on it, besides the fact and i am now addicted. my doctor wants me to take less than what i told him ( i told him i was taking 6 a day) so he gives me 120 a month, which i don't always take but i always want to have them just in case. Im on very low doses of Celexa and Xanax. I have a more difficult time achieving orgasm during sex and even while masturbating. Sometimes it just doesnt happen no matter how hard I try. My sex drive is also slightly lower than normal. Overall the benefits of the meds outweight the side effects. But the sexual issues are annoying.

Before my knee surgery, I was so talkative, so outgoing, energetic, and paced. It had been my first time under the knife and the surgery required a cadaver placement for the acl (I was not given anti rejection meds). Now (more than 2 months later) I can walk perfectly but with one (now major) side effect- anxiety- everywhere I go, driving, class, social events, it gets the best of me-we ran all possible tests-ultrasound on kidneys, heart, blood tests, even an MRI-all clean, but the anxiety stayed for some reason only directly after the surgery, and Xanax helps every once in a while but I'm not much of a pill popper, I'm soo over this anxious thing, I just want to get it over with and get on with my fulfilling and beautiful life, any suggestions/diagnoses-KonstantinO

If it were type 2 diabetes, does it just hit you like that, like being fine and then all of a sudden - boom, you have chronic drymouth like I've been experiencing? Hello,i need some help. This is the first month that i am off my birth control pills during this month my fiance has ejaculated inside of me 6 times, I've heard that you can only get prego if he came in me if im ovulating, & i'm not sure when i was.. there was a couple of times we used the pullout method also. both my fiance & i smoke, i've heard that if you are a smoker it reduces the chance of becoming prego cause of his sperm count/quality. Also i take xanax for my anixety every now and then will that effect the baby if i am? And to be honest i dont remember when i'm supposed to get my period i do believe (but not 100% sure) its going on 3rd/4th week since i've had my period, and the first time he ejaculated inside of me was the 1st week off of my period the 2nd time was about a week ago 3rd 4 days ago & the rest was this weekend. I am hopeing i am pregnant but i dont want 2 get my hopes high So my question is what are the chances that i am prego what would the percent be out of 100

I've been taking .25mgs. of xanax everyday for the last 7 months and have decided that I no longer want to be a slave to this drug so I have started weaning myself off of it by taking it everyother day and then every couple of days. I've heard you can die from stopping this, I haven't taken any in 4 days and the only negative effect it's having is I'm more anxious, but that could be because I can't stop thinking about how it can kill you. my question is, how long does it take to start feeling withdrawal effects from this medicine and what are some things I should expect to see....

I have extreme needle phobia. Yesterday I had to get my blood drawn, so to calm my nerves I took .25 tablet of Xanax. I am a 5"6 and 220 lb woman. The Xanax didn't have an effect on me whatesoever, so I was not able to get my blood drawn because I was too scared. I have only one tablet of .25 Xanax left, and the nurse won't prescribe anymore to me because she said if one tablet won't work then Xanax won't work for me period. I have my doubts this is true. So now I have access to Vicodin ( my friend will give me this), and I would like to know if it has any anti anxiety properties. From what I have read, it creates a feeling of europhria as well as pain relieveing qualities. What about a combinated for Vicodin and one .25 Xanax? Please note I am not trying to get high, I just really need to get my blood drawn for a Visa to China. I think I have a high tolerance as well because I need to take 3 Tylenol, or 3 sleeping pills for it to have any effect. Thank you.
