I am a 22 year old male with a history of drug usage starting from the age of 14. I will give a brief run down on what I used and for how long and how I feel it still effects me now that I am for the "most part" sober.
At 14 years of age, the first drug I tried was LSA.. By the age of 15 1/2 I was placed in a rehab center for 7 months. I had been abusing a surplus of pain pills, benzos, ketamine, cocaine, marijuana, and occasional x.
After the age of 17 I became a user of cocaine, marijuana, prescription pills...also my drug of choice was meth. I snorted and smoked meth for 2 years along with taking large amounts of x on a weekly basis. From 17-19 I had taken over 70 xtc pills, sometimes 10 in a weekend...I admitted myself in rehab for my meth abuse when I was using over a .5g-2g a day for almost a year (sometimes staying up 4-8 days) before falling asleep and repeating the process.
After the age of 19 and my second time out from rehab, I started using prescription pills...I had with withdrawals from so many stimulants...It wasnt until I turned 20 years old before I grasped the true meaning of being sober and I had a last stint with meth and xtc before it clicked...in all I probably took about 140 xtc pills and spent over 8,000.00 on meth in my time. I smoked marijuana regularly and took more xanax and prescription medicines than most would think was humanly possible.
I have been sober for 1 1/2 years. I have not abused prescription pain pills either but still regularly smoke small amounts of marijuana and drink occasionaly....
My problem now; I have elevated stress almost constantly...my muscles will ache with tension frequently. I get sick more often than I ever have in my life. My nerves bother me...I get sweaty and hot and my heart rate becomes elevated often in stressfull situations. Sometimes I drink alcohol to calm myself which isnt good but I dont have a big habit doing that.
I get these urges and I cant sit down...I'll pace around and get nothing accomplished, sometimes I'm shaky. If I drink caffeine it makes all of this 10 times worse so I stay away. I have ADD but there is nothing that can be done about it, the medicines are way to risky for myself to consume. I know this is really long but I wanted yall to really grasp the extent of my usage and help me figure out ways to cope with it, maybe tell me how long it will last...what should I tell a ddoctor and can anything be done? One great thing...I dont crave drugs, I have gotten thru those symptoms, I just have lingering after effects.

I suffer from panic attacks and high anxiety. I went through a lot of CBT, watch my diet, exercise, meditate... But hey that is why it is a panic *disorder*. I used to be on 10 mgs Xanax a day. Part of my dosage was in the middle of the night as panic would wake me. Thank goodness was able to come off of it (as a daily dose) a couple years ago.
After not taking a Xanax for a year I had to take one as one of the attacks could not be reeled back in recently. Then I reminded how nice it was not to be flipping about everything. Working so hard not to flip out! I felt so clear headed and normal. But after a nasty Xanax addiction and withdrawals almost killing me the last thing I want is that back in my system.
So to my question. Are these effective in calming down panic? I get anxiety attacks when I take a new herb or pill (Xanax triggers an even bigger attack before it kicks in). Will these be effective in settling those down until I am used to taking them and know it will not hurt me?
Do I have to worry about addiction? How long do people take these for? Can I take one of each at the same time?
A friend is sending me these in the mail in hopes of me getting to find some more relief and they get here tomorrow. Would just like to know what I can expect from these from those who have taken them. Thanks!
Voting Question: Took Klonopin for two weeks...?
I just got off of Klonopin, .5 mg, for two weeks, because i had a severe withdrawal from Xanax, which i abruptly stopped because it was making me cookoo and last week I ended up having a seizure because of it and went to the hospital. So i was prescribed the Klonopin and started to feel less withdrawal symptoms and ended it today. Should i be worried that i will experience anything like the Xanax withdrawal. Like i said it was .5 mg taken twice a day.
Well, on the Xanax i was taking 2 mg about 4 times a day for almost 6 months, and then went off of it for 5 days, then started taking .5 mg just 2-3 mg a day total for 11 days. Now i'm off of it.

I've been on Alprazolam for a number of years and am trying to taper off. I'm down to about 1/4 mg. a day. I've tried to go to zero dosage, but a few days in, I get TERRIBLE dysphoria and bad brain fog (among other symptoms). I also have symptoms of clinical depression. How long does this last? I don't think I could bear feeling like this for too long.

I randomly had a panic attack late in July and since then I became pretty scared of it happening again. I tried to go without taking any medication for a few days, but I was just feeling a bit to rattled and the long drives to work were driving me crazy. So I decided to go to a psychiatrist and she prescribed Klonopin. I took exactly 30 pills of Klonopin and the last 5 or so pills I'd been using sparingly over a period of 3 or 4 days in order to not run out because I was then told to change over Xanax.
Really my anxiety wasn't that bad before, I just wanted a little something to treat the symptoms. It was 0.5 Klonopin and again I've been taking it a little over a month now. Well I noticed once I started to have gaps in taking it I started to feel worse. And I've been off of the Klonopin for about 4 days now and am feeling horrible. I'd rather just get completely off all of this medication and try to heal naturally at this point.
She gave me 25 mg Zoloft but I know it takes about 3 weeks to even work, so I took 2 pills and am just completely frustrated right now. I have 2 choices. Try to get off of this stuff right now and just deal with my issue naturally in hopes of defeating it once and for all, or keep taking the Zoloft until it kicks in.
First off, does anyone know how long I'll be feeling this "withdrawal" from the Klonopin? Again only 0.5 mg over a month. Secondly do you guys suggest I get on the 25mg Zoloft or just try to beat this thing?

Dose was reduced to 50mg for 3 weeks. MD said to reduce dose to 25mg x 1 week, then to 12.5mg x 1 week. This taper schedule is consistant with online sites. At 25mg, I'm getting terrible anxiety which neither Xanax or Benadryl is helping. Had the brain zaps for a 3 days and it went away this morning. I feel very shaky too. well now he retired and my new doctor said i don't need xanax and that i'm just depressed, so he took me off of xanax and put me on effexor xr 150mg and after taking one it made me feel wired in a very bad way, so he took me off that and told me i need to just get out more and be more active.
well now its been 2 days with out my xanax and just this morning i woke up around 3am with restless legs, my whole body hurt so bad. i had to keep swallowing my spit just to stop myself from throwing up.
its really painful, it feels like a fever.
i blame all this on my new doctor. he takes me off something that i've been prescribe to for 6 years than just like that its gone.

i was on a dosage of 1.5 -2 mg a day for panic disorder. after 5 months of it, and staying on lexapro, i think i can lower my dosage. for the past two days, i've taken 1 mg a day. i sleep horrible and twitch a little, feeling nervous. i know there will be withdrawal symptoms, but should i stay at the 1 mg for a few days or can i go ahead and lower my mg again? my counselor has ok'd me lowering my dosage, so that's not a problem. i'm trying to get to the point where i only take one if i have to. i've had a drug problem with opiates in the past, so i know about withdrawal symptoms with them, but never xanax.

He went into withdrawal even though he went as low as 2mg on suboxone. Two months later he feels better physically but is very depressed and anxious. He is unable to leave the house to look for work. He doesn't have a craving for drugs and wants his depression to go away so he can move ahead with his life. He takes xanax but it doesn't last long. Will his depression every go away on it's own. The suboxone was a terrible drug to be on and we're afraid he'll never be the same.

I have been on xanax, norco, and soma for seven years. Due to a car accident in which I eventually lost my right leg below the knee. I was put on xanax for manic depression, and panic attacks, insomnia, and anxiety. I recently decided to try and get off my xanax because I was out, and I was tired of dealing with the withdrawals any time the doctor wasn't in or I couldn't get my medicine on time. I took three 2mg xanax a day, at times maybe even more. When I first came off the xanax I did not sleep for 4 days, I couldn't stop thinking, and I was very emotional. I have now been off for two weeks, last wednesday I had a gran mal seizure, and woke up to two chipped teeth, from bighting down so hard, knots on my head, and now fear of it happening again. I was taken to the hospital and given dilantan for the seizure, and told to c a neurologist, and follow up with my pcp. I am asking my doctor to refill my meds, and try to wean myself off, or should i continue to deal w the withdrawal

I took my last Lortab yesterday around 10:00 am, how long before I start feeling the dreaded withdrawals? I will not be able to get my Lortab refilled until Friday morning. My hubby went to medical detox on Thurs. for xanax that day he had only 1.5 mg. They tapered him off with valium and gave him other stuff for the withdrawals. I've had several episodes of shortness of breath within a 2 month period following orthopedic surgery with 2 episodes of tachacardia (while I was in the hospital). The docs could not find evidence of a pulmonary embolism, so I was automatically termed to have anxiety. My doc gave me Lexapro 10mg & Xanax .25 mg (as needed). I don't like being on meds. My doc at one point has suggested that I may have something called atelectisus. My x-rays have not shown this, but I was also told by a different doc that x-rays can sometimes miss atelectisus. (which is when part of your lung collapses because of some kind of blockage or just being extremely immobile after a surgery). A few days ago, I had a coughing attack and I felt something fling inside my right lung during a cough. Since then, it seems like my breathing has been alot better. (note: this past winter I was sick with an upper respiratory for 2 1/2 months).

for the fear of addiction. I fear I've made a huge mistake. He put me on the lowest dose of valium (2mg) and I was taking quite a bit of xanax a day. The valium is not working and I'm kind of freaking out a bit. I'm having so much anxiety...or could it be withdrawal? What am I experiencing? I am actually in tears here. I was diagnosed with panic disorder last November and started taking .5 mg of Xanax XR in January. I took it every morning, and knew that I wanted to stop taking it as soon as I graduated from college. My doctor told me I could stop taking it completely without tapering because it was such a low dose, but I was scared of having withdrawal problems so he had me take it every 36 hours and then every 48. I took my last pill 4 days ago, hooray!
Anyway, I'm not a big drinker or anything, but I love being able to drink a beer or a margarita with dinner, and being the cautious person that I am, haven't drank since starting the medication. How long should I wait before drinking anything alcoholic? Does it matter? Or should I give it some time just to be on the safe side?

I have been taking 1mg a day for about the last 6 months. Problem is i do not have insurance and can not afford to buy them, plus i dont feel as tho i need them anymore, i am doing really well in public and i am having less panic attacks. I tried to not take them one day and got really really ill. i JUST started a new job and cannot really afford to take time off but i cannot work when i am going thru the withdrawals they feel horrible. I dont have insurance so i cant just go get more. I was wondering if there was any easier way to deal with these withdrawals or if i am going to HAVE to go to the hospital to deal with it?

I was recently prescribed 0.5 mg xanax to deal with a crisis in my life. I took them as instructed for about a week then I stopped and experienced the most intense anxiety I've ever had to deal with for about half a day. It was not a good experience.
I have some left and a friend of mine is pressuring me to give them to them to take. I don't understand what the big deal is because when I took them they didn't make me feel much different, just more in control of my emotions. Plus the withdrawals were awful. Why would someone want to take xanax recreationally? Does it make you high if you take more than prescribed?

I was just wondering is this normal to do, and is this safe? I know Depakote is an anti-seizure, so I wont have any seizures from withdrawal but is there anything else to be worried about? I am very shakey and I have mild chest pain on and off I've had this before with withdrawal I was just wondering is it safe to just be taking Depakote? Thanks

after two years treatment with it and also methotrexate, xanax 2mg tid because the doctor is now saying there is no medical basis to be taking the medications. Althouth medical records were lost in a flood, which wasn't her fault. they did support and ana positive for lupus and she is drawing disability for anxiety and panic which is well documented. My little sister was addicted and abusing xanax for about a year, she went through a rapid detox for 3 days and then stayed at the rehab for 5 days and then she left. She came home and took a max of 2mg of xanax a day for one week. She has about 4 more xanax 1mg. I took them from her and we were both wondering she could wean herself off by taking halves and then even smaller pieces? I'm scared for her because the withdrawal can be dangerous (seizures, etc.) but she has only been taking it for about 8 days.. but I don't know if that will cause bad withdrawal PLEASE HELP.

3 times a day. On may 8th he told me to cut the xanax down to 1 mg for a week and then stop it, That the klonopin would by now take care of xanax withdrawal but im afraid,im still taking 1 mg a day of the xanax but my anxiety is awful.Tried the cymbalta for (he put me on 30 mg. om may 8) a bout 7 days but wsnt taking the pills dailey as it made me feel sick so it wanst 7 days in a row.Im feeling very tired and drugged. A pharmaisist told me it might be side effects of cutting back on the xanax making me so tired. She used xanax again for ONE week straight after getting out and it has been 24 hours since she has had any and she is not getting anymore at all. My question is.. is she in any danger of withdrawal side effects? I remember when she was heavily using them they told her she could die if she stopped cold turkey, but this time she hasn't been using them heavily, just one or two a day for a week. I wanted to know if she is at any risk of having any problems or complications with withdrawal, or is it okay because it was a small amount for only one week? I really need to know this as soon as possible. I am watching her closely to make sure she doesn't get anymore, but is she okay for now? PLEASE I'm so worried.
