His point I think was that the media twists facts as to make people look like someone they aren't.
So his reaction was to be someone he wasn't, the person the media had tried to make him out to be.

To me, what's always been funniest about this is when Crispin holds up that case and says "I don't have these...". Seems to slide past eveyrone else but it cracks me up every time. And from the night I saw this on NBC to this day I have no idea what those things are in that case that he does not have.
